Bought a mac mini and it's the wrong machine for my needs

HI all
I bought the solid state drive mini mac - stupidly didn't realise that it had such low storage -
then I made my biggest mistake - I left it in the box for 2 months over xmas as I wanted plenty of time to make the transition from my old mac pro
Now I realise that the machine is no use - I'm a photographer with lots of large files and it's simply got hardly any storage - but mac won't replace for me with a different drive -
i understand that they have a retuurns deadline but sometimes it makes sense to bend the rules! All of my computers (since 1990) have been macs and I've spent a fortune with them over the years - I'm not even asking for a refund, just a replacement -

All you can do is call the Apple Store number and plead your case with them. Regardless of the fact it has never been out of the box, if they bend the return policy for someone after two months or more, then where do they draw they line? They cannot re-sell that device as new (illegal to do so), so they take a loss on it if they accept it back now. That is why the return policy is short, and in my experience, strict.
You should be able to get a good price for it yourself though, since you have the receipt so can justify the claim it is new, unused in the box to any buyer. Or give something like craig's list a try and suggest a swap of some kind?
Or how about using it, and just get a nice huge external storage, even a home RAID? The most you can possible get in a mini is 2x1TB, which for many uses these days, is still "small". For example, get a lightening 4GB G-technology box from the Apple store for $600.00, or one of the Promise lightening RAID boxes (although those are more expensive).

Just bought my mac mini and set up my apple account. I was trying to pay a game on the game center and after I click on the accept agreement and hit send, it show saving and then it locks up.

just bought my mac mini. loggin into my game center, and after accepting the user agreement, it then saves my options. After trying serveral times, my screen just shows my options are saving and does nothing past this point. even after waiting a very long time.

Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
Or...
Open console in Applications>Utilities, check the system log for the date/time of the last problem & the Startup right after that for clues.

I have an older version of the mac mini and i updated the os x on it and now it doesnt work is there a way to fix this?

I have vbought an i pad mini and cnanot find the serial #.INstructions say if i tap home screen. But there is no home screeb. They also say it is negraved on the back. But nothing is engraved on the back. They say if I have th eoirignal nox I can find it (whatever it is) above the bar codes. But there are 4 long numbers. I have no idea which is which. Help!

Mac Died and only have the upgrade discs for FCE

I had FCE version 2 loaded on a Mac Pro. I upgraded to 4 and all was happy. Now my Mac Pro died and I am "forced" to use my Mac Mini. The problem is, I cannot find the FCE 2 disks so I can upgrade to 4. I had registered my version 2 so is there a way to get so I can get this running? If I need to contact Apple, who and how??

Do you have the serial number? You don't need to install the previous version if you have the original serial. Go to the Apple web site and look in the support pages for contact information.

New mac mini @ and " coming up on wrong keys

hi ive just bought my first mac, a mini.
im using a logitech wave keyboard which is supposed to work with macs and windows.
my issue is that the mac seems to think its a us keyboard ie the @ symbol is 2 buttons to the left of the enter key but when i do shift and the key it comes up with the speech marks symbol "
to use it i have to do shift and the 2 key (which is where the speech mark symbol is) there are a couple of other symbol keys in the wrong places but not so important.(i havent got the number symbol at all)
so is there any way of configuring the mac to recognise the keys in the right positions?
i have done the standard set up where it seems to recognise it as a european keyboard.

Upgraded to 10.8.3 on Mac mini and things have gone wrong

Ok I am using a late 2009 mac mini 4 gig computer and been on Mountain Lion 10.8.2 for some time with nothing going wrong with my computer at all. I decided to update to the new 10.8.3 and have left it a few days but nothing is resolving. Things have slowed down and getting the spinning wheel happening alot, screen freezes for a few seconds and then everything is fine then freezes again. My itunes keeps stopping in songs and starting again, it is like the computer is doing catch up or its thinking about things. It is getting me down and dont know what to do.
I have repaired disk permissions and ran clean my mac, everything was fine before I put this 10.8.3 on my mac. Can someone please tell me how do I put 10.8.2 back on ? I read where someone said on line that reinstall 10.8.3 but do not know how to do this.
If someone can help I would really appreciate this

Thank you very much Barney for your reply, I have got rid of my clean my mac as sometimes I thought it was more a hinderance than a cure and I went to disk utilities and clicked verify diak and within 5 minutes it says the following
Incorrect number of file hard links
Checking catalog hierarchy.
Checking extended attributes file.
Checking volume bitmap.
Checking volume information.
The volume Mac Mini 10.8.3 was found corrupt and needs to be repaired.
Error: This disk needs to be repaired using the Recovery HD. Restart your computer, holding down the Command key and the R key until you see the Apple logo. When the OS X Utilities window appears, choose Disk Utility.
I really feel like I am in the deep end here, please can you explain to me what I do to get this sorted out step by step pleas ? as never had any problem with this computer since I bought it and dont really know what I am doing.
So I understand I need to press command and r key, once I have done that do I need to go back in to utilities and verify disk and repare permission, hope you can explain to me like Im stupid please :-)

Voice Control - does it learn and what's the "Wrong" command for?

1) Like others, I find Voice Control laughably inaccurate sometimes when trying to get it to play an artist. I'm wondering if it "learns" and gets better the more you use it?
2) In the manual, there's a command you can called "wrong" or "nope". In what situation would I use it? Whenever I've tried so far, by the time I get to say it, the original (incorrect) command has already executed!

"Wrong" or "No" is for stopping a command and returning voice control to the listening phase. "Cancel" takes you out of voice control. If the command is to play or call a specific name, you can cancel it, but if it's a simple command like "play", "shuffle", "genius", or "what's playing" there is no cancel.
VC for iPod control seems to have a serious bug. It's not inaccurate, it's just not working.
There seems to be a condition where it will only recognize the first few artists in your library, and often not at all. I have restored my phone several times, rebuilt my iTunes library on the PC, and have yet to get it working properly.
I have experienced, variously, after each restore and reload of the phone:
- Voice control will not start, or never gets to where it is listening (with the waveform). This can usually be fixed by a hard reset.
- Only artists from the first part of the alphabet are recognized. Only albums by these artists are recognized, regardless of letter. If I say anything else, it will pick the artist/album from these artists that sounds the most like what I say. One time it was artists A-F, the other time it was just the first 4 "A" artists. Contacts and playlists are recognized OK.
- Even worse: No artists, albums, or playlists are recognized. Simple commands and contacts still work. This is where I'm at now, after a clean load of iTunes, a newly built iTunes library, a complete restore of the iPhone software, and set up as a NEW phone (no backup restored). That's as clean as you can get.
I've been to the Genius Bar, and I've called support. Both times they have escalated my case to an an engineer. Apple is willing to replace my phone in-store tomorrow, but I don't think it is a hardware problem: The mic works, the headset mic works, and other VC features work.
The only thing I can think of at this point is there is some artist/album name in my library that is causing it to fail?

I have recently bought a Mac PC and wish to have my music for my windows laptop show up on the mac (all that shows are my purchased songs) do i have to manually add my cds somehow?

All my music that i have loaded onto my windows HP Laptop (Envy) has not shown up on my Mac PC, only the purchased songs bought through the iTunes store.
Do i have to manually load the cd's onto my Mac via a portable media unit? Or will that not work? I do not want to have to purchase all my favourite music again

Only purchases appear because they are coming Apple's own copy keeps on the Internet when it sees you have connected a computer without the purchases. Anything else has to be transferred by you.
Moving an entire library: Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its sub-folders and files) intact to the other drive. Hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) and open iTunes. At the prompt to create or choose a library choose the copied iTunes folder.
When this is to a new computer put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

Just got a new iPad yesterday and I accidentally bumped a foreign language. How do I reset to English? I am not set up yet as the language changed before I could get it set up.

try this method:
You need at least a USB mouse. If you don't get any option to pair a keyboard, click through the setup until you get to the "Create Your Computer Account" screen, right click in any of the text fields and select Substitutions --> Show Substitutions. From there click on text preferences. The preferences pane will popup and from there you can just click the back button (next to show all) to get to the full preferences menu. Next click on keyboard, then select setup bluetooth keyboard and you're golden.

I have just bought a mac mini and am trying to set up. The unit is asking me to swith on bluetooth keyboard via pic 1 then pic 2 shows another switch.

Symptoms
When using Setup Assistant to configure your Mac mini or iMac for the first time, the Bluetooth keyboard may have difficulty pairing.
Resolution
Use a wired keyboard to configure the Mac mini or iMac with the Setup Assistant. If a wired keyboard is not available, follow these steps:
Press and hold the Power button until the computer turns off.
Press the Power button to start the computer.
When a language selection appears, press and hold the power key on the Bluetooth keyboard so that the green light is flashing (discoverable mode).
Use the mouse to click the language you would like.
A code should appear on the screen. Enter the code on the Bluetooth keyboard and press Return. Note: No visible feedback appears on the screen while you enter the code.
The computer and the wireless keyboard should now be paired.

Have music files from a windows PC and put them on a usb drive. how do I transfer them to the mac mini and iTunes?

Bought a mac mini and have music files from my old windows PC on a USB drive. need to know how to transfer all the music from the USB drive to itunes so I can sync them with my new ipod.

Choose Computer from the Finder's Go menu, double-click the icon for that drive, locate the song files, drag them to any location inside the Home entry, open iTunes, and drag them from there into it.

Can I use my apple wireless mouse and keyboard with my Mac Mini and Windows PC?

Hello, I recently dug up a windows PC computer for side projects, and I was able to get by using my wireless apple keyboard and mouse for my Mac mini, and then using a usb mouse for my PC, I want to eliminate the usb keyboard and mouse and just use the bluetooth keyboard. Both computers are usually on all the time, and the windows PC uses a bluetooth adapter. I can get my keyboard and mouse to work on both, but I have to sync them to whatever system I would like everytime I want to use it. Is there any solution that when I choose the Mac Mini my keyboard and mouse will work for the Mac mini, and when I choose my windows pc, the keyboard will only be used on windows without having to resync?
