BOXI3 - Java SDK : Setting developpement environment

Hello,
I want to create a java application using the Business Objects SDK for Java.
I need some help to install and configure my developpement environment on Windows Xp.
I read there is a document named c2018319 on http://technicalsupport.businessobjects.com, but I can not find it.
Can you please tell me:
1- What I need to install (Eclispe, Tomcat, ???)
2- Where to find a document to configure my environment
Thank you for your reply
Benoit N'GUESSAN

Hi Ted,
Thank you very much for your reply.
I integrated the samples to my dev environment. Now I can create users and add them to existing groups in the CMS.
Now, what I want is to be abble to set the database access parameters on the users.
- Oracle logging accout
- Oracle logging password.
I have these information as input data. Wich java methods in the sdk can do this?
Thank you very much

  • How to set DbConnections when scheduling a crystal report using Crystal Reports Server Java SDK?

    Post Author: Manjula
    CA Forum: JAVA
    Hi,
    Trying to schedule a report using Crystal Reports Server Java SDK. Want to pass DBConnections from API, though passing DBConnections, the report is not being scheduled and says "Failed to retrieve data from the database.Details:[Database Vendor Code:6550].
    Would be thankful if someone could answer my point as applicable.
    Here is the code attached.
    ISDKList dbLogons = oReport.getReportLogons();int dbLogonSize = dbLogons.size();
    for(int i=0; i<dbLogonSize; ++i) {
    IReportLogon dbLogon = (IReportLogon)dbLogons.get(i);
    dbLogon.setDatabaseName("DBname");
    dbLogon.setUserName("usrname");
    dbLogon.setPassword("pwd");
    Thanks in advance.

    Ted,
    Thank you for your valuable information.
    First, tried scheduling on Central Management Console and then with the java code.It worked fine, but here is another question for you.
    On the Console, a report exists with ServerName and UserName harcoded and when trying to set ServerName and UserName from the java code, its throwing exception. Where as Password is not set on Console, am able to set password from java.
    And DatabaseName is not set on Console (non editable), unable to set the same from java too. Why is it so?
    So, my question is - though ServerName,DatabaseName,UserName,Password exists on the Console report, can't I override those parameters from java?
    Would be greatful if you answer my question and provide me some guidance.
    Thanks in advance.

  • What is the Opendocument syntax for java SDK -BOXI3.1

    Hi,
    We are using java sdk for BOXI3.1 to open the reports from J2EE Screens.
    Earlier we have used below syntax for opendocument in BOXIR2, it worked fine. Now our client is migrated to BOXI3.1 same URL syntax is not working.
    BOXIR2 we have used below syntax to open the webi reports from J2EE screen:
    URL: "http://" + CMS + ":8080/businessobjects/enterprise115/desktoplaunch/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?" + "iDocID=" + webiID + "&sType=wid&sWindow=Same&token=" + token;
    Please help in this regard.

    The URL path and such has changed.

  • Can we set prompts value in Webi to schedule thru JAVA SDK 4.0

    Hi,
    I need to schedule webi report which has prompts.  Can we have schedule webi report with prompts in 4.0.
    I was able set values for prompts and refresh the webi report using documentInstance object. I think we can't use this object for scheduling right?
    Also, I would like set values from LOV.
    Could you please help to find solution.
    Thanks
    Venkat

    Hello Venkat,
    Unfortunately the feature of scheculing a webi reports with prompts have been deprecated from the
    version 4.0 using the enterprise java sdks.
    In XI 3.1, promtsutil class was used for setting prompts while scheduling a webi report using java sdks, which have been deprectaed from 4.0 and there is no replacement for the same in enterprise java sdks.
    However, this feature was re-implemented in the new Restful web services and is availble for BI 4.0 SP6 onwards as far as I am aware of.
    Please refer to the below document for better understanding.
    http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir4/en/xi4sp6_webi_restful_ws_en.pdf
    Also please refer to the forum http://scn.sap.com/community/restful-sdk for any queries related to Restful webservices sdks.
    Thanks,

  • How to retrieve the segment label setting of a Pie graph by java sdk?

    hello,
    there is a special setting for a pie graph: you can determine whether to show the segement label in a pie chart by checking the "show segment label" control under values,  data, and categogy.
    my question is, how to fetch the setting by java sdk?
    thx.

    It doesn't look like this is accessible through the SDK.  Unfortunately the SDK doesn't have a lot of access to the charting component.  You would want to look at the RAS SDK guide for what you do have access to.

  • Whats is difference between Java JRE  and  Java SDK

    Hi,
    what is the difference between Java JRE and Java SDK...
    i think both of them have the same set of files to be installed...
    I am not able to understand where they differ

    The JRE (Java runtime Environment) contains just the stuff necessary to run Java and the SDK (System Development Kit) contains the extra stuff necessary (and also helpful) to develop in Java.

  • Installation Problem - Java SDK 1.4.1

    I have a problem with installing Java on my machine at home that you may be able to help me with.
    Here are the Details: 1) I installed the most recent java SDK on my machine. 2) I set the Autoexec file with the correct PATH statement. 3) Set the correct CLASSPATH statement 4) The "Java -Version" statement gives the correct reply that it is version 1.4.
    Below is my AutoExec.bat file
    SET windir=C:\WINDOWS
    SET winbootdir=C:\WINDOWS
    SET COMSPEC=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM
    SET PATH=C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~3\OFFICE;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\ATF

    SET PROMPT=$p$g
    SET TEMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
    SET TMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
    Problem: Trying to compile a simple "HelloWorld" Program with "javac Helloworld.java" produces the error "Bad Command or File name".
    Issues: Command Line in Windows ME requires 8.3 format. Inserts tilde "~" and a number into the names of the files. even using a short name such as "HelWrld.java" inserts a tilde because of the "java" extension. Have tried using a "jav" extension but that does not work as the error is the same.
    Question: How can I get rid of the "Bad Command or File Name"?

    My First Java Progam (for Windows with Java 2 SDK v1.4.1)
    Follow these instructions EXACTLY.
    1. Download and install the Java 2 SDK, Standard Edition. You can find it here:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/downloads.html
    Select the download for your operating system and be sure to download the SDK (rightmost column) and not the JRE. (The JRE is only the Java Runtime Environment, which does not include the Java compiler and other tools needed for software development).
    2. Read the README and installation instructions! Read these instead of asking questions about installation etc. in the Java forums.
    README for Java 2 SDK v1.4.1: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/README.html
    Java 2 SDK v1.4.1 for Windows installation: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/install-windows.html
    Things to note:
    - After installing, add the bin directory of the SDK to your PATH environment variable. For example, if you installed the SDK in C:\j2sdk1.4.1_01, add the directory C:\j2sdk1.4.1_01\bin to your PATH. (If you don't know what an environment variable is and how to set it, read the documentation of Windows; if you're using Windows XP, this might be useful: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q310519& ).
    3. Open Notepad and type in your first program:
    public class HelloWorld {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    System.out.println("Hello World!");
    Save this program somewhere with the filename "HelloWorld.java".
    Things to note:
    - The case of text is important. Don't type "Helloworld", "helloworld" or anything else. Also the case of the filename is important (even though Windows has case-insensive filenames!).
    - Watch out that Notepad doesn't append ".txt" to the filename. The file should be named "HelloWorld.java", not "HelloWorld.java.txt".
    4. Open a command prompt and go to the directory that contains the file "HelloWorld.java" (with the CD command).
    5. Compile the progam with the following command:
    javac HelloWorld.java
    Things to note:
    - If you get something like "Unknown command: javac" or "Bad command or filename", you did not (correctly) add the bin directory of the SDK to the PATH (see step 2).
    6. Run the program. If you didn't get any compile errors, you now have a new file "HelloWorld.class" in the same directory. Run the program with the following command:
    java HelloWorld
    Things to note:
    - If you get: "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloWorld/class", you have typed "java HelloWorld.class". Leave off the ".class" at the end. You are typing a class name here, not a filename.
    - If you get something like: "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: helloworld (wrong name: HelloWorld)", you have typed the class name wrong. Note that the case is important (i.e., don't type "helloworld" but "HelloWorld")!
    - You don't need to set any classpath here. In Java 1.4, the current directory is included in the classpath automatically. For older versions of Java, you may need to add the current directory (".") to the classpath, like this:
    java -classpath . HelloWorld
    7. Congratulations with your first working Java program. Now follow these links:

  • Webi document prompts order from Java SDK does not refresh correctly?

    Hi
    I'm developping a standalone command-line Java program which will schedule a report with custom prompt values.
    I am having a problem with Webi prompts ordering acquired from the SDK.
    We are running BO XI R2 SP4 under Windows on Tomcat servers.
    Here is the problem:
    I have a Webi report called "Articles Racines" in a "Tests SDK" directory.
    This report uses two prompts named "Type Article :" and "Code Marque :" (in this order).
    Java SDK (code below) returns the right prompts in the right order.
    Now, in Infoview, I modify the report in order to change the order of the prompts (in the "Properties" tab) making "Code Marque :" the first and "Type Article :" the second one and save the changes.
    When I run the report, prompt order has changed but the prompts retrieved from the Java SDK are still in the old order.
    I noticed that if I update the name of both prompts, the prompts retrieved from the SDK now are in the right order (with the updated names).
    Am I doing something wrong? Is it a known issue?
    Thanks in advance.
    Guillaume
    PS : I am aware that "select *" are very bad but I am still in research stage of developpment.

    Here's the reason why:
    Web Intelligence document prompting is handled properly if you open the doc using the ReportEngine Java (REBean) SDK.
    When you set prompts and schedule, you'd first open the doc using REBean, set the prompts, then copy over the prompt values you've set to the IWebi you're scheduling using the PromptsUtil.populateWebiPrompts(...,...) helper method.
    So the InfoObject IWebi doesn't know about the actual ordering of the prompts in the document itself - it's just receiving the prompts in order as it's fed from PromptsUtil.
    It's not recommended to assume that the IWebi.getPrompts() will return a non-empty collection.  The Web Intellligence document must be first opened in ReportEngine and the prompting values set using PromptsUtil to fill the collection.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Listener port JAVA SDK

    Hi,
    I've currently got a RAS server talking back to the web application server (Tomcat) through a firewall. I've set the request port on the RAS server and now need to set the listener port on the BO Enterprise JAVA SDK. CE10 documentation mentions setting the System.setProperty("ooc.iiop.port", "6420"); property for the JAVA SDK.
    I'm afraid I'm clueless as to where this should be applied, likewise as I'm currently running XIR3.1 I'm not even sure if this is still applicable.
    I have seen the registry keys for uppoer and lower port, will these do the trick?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi Stratos,  thanks for the quick reply.
    As this issue is directly related to network connectivity between the RAS server and the web application server i.e. the architecture of the environment and not SDK development, I see no reason why it shouldn't be posted under the enterprise administration forum.
    Pages 12 - 14 of the below document discuss the issue in detail:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/0047e5f4-3140-2b10-1bae-de175e4c741c
    or in brief:
    "When the RAS server receives a request to process a report, it accepts and processes the request. When it finishes processing, it creates its own connection back to the Crystal Enterprise SDK on the application server."
    This relates to a CE10 environment, I'm hoping to find details on a BOEXIR3.1 environment.
    I hope that helps to clear things up.

  • Setting the environment variable

    I just installed the rpm for the 1.4 SDK on my RedHat 7.1 box. Does anyone know how I can set the environment variable so it will recognize Java from the command line? Thanks in advance.

    You need to set a couple of environment variables in your "profile" script. Which one, exactly, depends on the shell you use. It's probably .profile on your home directory.
    Try
    JAVA_HOME=/usr/java1.4 (or wherever it really is)
    PATH=$PATH:$JAVA_HOME/bin
    export JAVA_HOME,PATH

  • How to create a report with data using the Crystal Reports for Java SDK

    Hi,
    How do I create a report with data that can be displayed via the Crystal Report for Java SDK and the Viewers API?
    I am writing my own report designer, and would like to use the Crystal Runtime Engine to display my report in DHTML, PDF, and Excel formats.  I can create my own report through the following code snippet:
    ReportClientDocument boReportClientDocument = new ReportClientDocument();
    boReportClientDocument.newDocument();
    However, I cannot find a way to add data elements to the report without specifying an RPT file.  Is this possible?  I seems like it is since the Eclipse Plug In allows you to specify your database parameters when creating an RPT file.
    is there a way to do this through these packages?
    com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.data
    com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.definition
    Am I forced to create a RPT file for the different table and column structures I have?
    Thank you in advance for any insights.

    This code succeeds, but it is not clear how to add that database field to a section.  If I attempt to call the following:

                rcd.getReportDefController().getReportObjectController().add(oFieldObject, rcd.getReportDefController().getReportDefinition().getDetailArea().getSections().getSection(0), -1);
    Then I get an error (which is not unexpected)
    com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.ReportDefControllerException: The field was not found.---- Error code:-2147213283 Error code name:invalidFieldObject
    How do I add one of the table.SetDataFields()  to my report to be displayed?

  • BI Java SDK in BI 7.0: Read Time out when executing MDX Statements

    Hi all,
    we´ve implemented some functions with the BI JAVA SDK which gets informations out of our BI via the SOAP / XMLA  Service. For some Queries this is not working and the following exception occurs on Java Side:
    --- snip ---
    Caused by: java.rmi.RemoteException: Service call exception; nested exception is:
         java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out
    --- snip ---
    The same query works on our Test Enviroment (which has longer execution times) so the difference has to be in some parameters set on the BI System. So the question is:
    Which parameters affect the queries sent via the SOAP / XMLA Service ?
    Any clues ?
    Thank for your help.
    Marco

    Hi Shan,
    that was also my first idea - but it didn´t help. It also does not explain, why the same codings works against the testsystem. Thats why i think the problem is related to some type of (profile-?) parameters on the BI Server itself. But its just a guess ....
