Listener port JAVA SDK

Hi,
I've currently got a RAS server talking back to the web application server (Tomcat) through a firewall. I've set the request port on the RAS server and now need to set the listener port on the BO Enterprise JAVA SDK. CE10 documentation mentions setting the System.setProperty("ooc.iiop.port", "6420"); property for the JAVA SDK.
I'm afraid I'm clueless as to where this should be applied, likewise as I'm currently running XIR3.1 I'm not even sure if this is still applicable.
I have seen the registry keys for uppoer and lower port, will these do the trick?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi Stratos, thanks for the quick reply.
As this issue is directly related to network connectivity between the RAS server and the web application server i.e. the architecture of the environment and not SDK development, I see no reason why it shouldn't be posted under the enterprise administration forum.
Pages 12 - 14 of the below document discuss the issue in detail:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/0047e5f4-3140-2b10-1bae-de175e4c741c
or in brief:
"When the RAS server receives a request to process a report, it accepts and processes the request. When it finishes processing, it creates its own connection back to the Crystal Enterprise SDK on the application server."
This relates to a CE10 environment, I'm hoping to find details on a BOEXIR3.1 environment.
I hope that helps to clear things up.

• MDB rollbacks and stops the listener port with error code 2072

Hi
We have a MDB listening on QUEUE1. This MDB processes the message and puts another message in QUEUE2. Transaction is "required" for this MDB.
The processing could somtime take more than 2 min. We used to get EJB timeout error in this scenario. We changed EJB timeout to 5 min (default was 2 min). This resolved the timeout error. But it started throwing following exception. Note that if the processing takes less than 2 min, MDB never rollbacks.
After this rollack, listener port can not pick up the next message and it throws error (MQJMS2002: failed to get message from MQ queue. MQ Error Code 2072) . It stops as a result and restarts after 60 sec. Even after restart it can not process the messages till we restart the JVM.
Regarding error handling, Backout threshold is 3. If the message is redelivered, we discard this message.
We are using 2 Phase commit for 2 resources MQ (5.3) and MS SQL.
Websphere version is 5.1.
Two issues here
1. Why is MDB rolling back if processing takes more than 2 min.
2. After the rollback, why is listener port not picking up the messages. Why do we need to recycle the JVM.
Any pointers to resolve this issue?

Have been able to solve this problem? The same occurs in our environment. I have a nagging feelin git has something to do with a known bug that is solved in some fixpack or something. We're on Websphere 5.1.1.4.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

• Having trouble with creation of a cloud service with multiple virtual machines using java sdk.

I am creating a cloud service on azure with 2 virtual machines using java sdk API. Service created successfully.
My input endpoint details are as follows.
INPUT ENDPOINTS
Head : 191.238.144.47:2400
Head : 191.238.144.47:22
Node0 : 191.238.144.47:43211
For Head instance port 2400 is for HTTPS and port 22 is for SSH and for Node0 instance port 43211 is for SSH.
But I am having problem with doing a ssh on Head instance. Sometimes it works sometimes doesn't. Same problem with HTTPS also.
I have some application running over there but when i try to access it thru browser sometimes it works but most of the time doesn't. When I restart the instances from azure portal, its works after
that(not always but most of the time).
Now I am confused what is going on there. I am creating cloud service and virtual machines using java sdk and setting input endpoints also. After creation of all instances i restart every instance programmatically .
I am not sure whether restart is required or not. It must be something to do with input endpoints only but not able to get the right thing i guess. When i do the same thing thru azure portal(creation of cloud service with virtual machines and setting up input
end points) everything works fine but not achieving the result when implementing it by java sdk API. Please help me.

HI Nithin,
Thanks for your reply. I am setting the endpoints after creating my instances using update call. Here's the code snippet.
AzureService aServ = new AzureService(session);
if(aServ.checkNameAvailability(clusterName)) {
aServ.createHostedService(clusterName, "dbX cluster");
// Creating head instance
aServ.createHead(clusterName, imgName, headType, userName, pswd);
// Setting end points for head node
String name = "ssh";
int port = 22;
aServ.updateVMInputEndpoint(clusterName, "Head", name, port);
// Restarting head instance
aServ.restartVM(clusterName, "Head");
String roleName = "Node";
String tmpRoleName = "";
for(int i=0; i<noi; i++) {
port = 43210+(i+1);
tmpRoleName = roleName + i;
// Creating node instance
aServ.createVM(clusterName, tmpRoleName, imgName, nodeType, userName, pswd);
// Setting end points for node instance
aServ.updateVMInputEndpoint(clusterName, tmpRoleName, name, port);
// Restarting node instance
aServ.restartVM(clusterName, tmpRoleName);

Hello All,
I ran into the exact same issue when configuring WAS 6.0.2, WCS 6.0, MQ 6.0, etc... I will not claim this will resolve everyones issues, but in my case a simple restart of the server was in order, and the MDB started up ok, with the listener port started.
I think it may have something to do with the fact that the "default mode = started" was choosen, but it had not been started yet. But do not quote me on that!
I hope this info helps someone who finds themself in the same situation.

• Problem when I tried to change weblogic listen port from 7001 to 80

HI! I have problem when I tried to change weblogic listen port from 7001 to 80. When I changed from 7001 to 7777 then all works ok! But why not on 80? With apache all works ok on 80 too.
I restart my weblogic server and then I have following errors.

Best regards!

Debuger,
It does not matter which WLS version I am using (although I'm using 10.3, the one that comes with JDev 11g).
The problem is that SOME OTHER PROCESS on your machine is listening on port 80. Guess you need to go to the Microsoft forums to find out how you can tell what that OTHER, NOT WLS process is.

• Unable to start a Listener Port on Websphere 6

Im trying to use Websphere6 with a Message Driven Bean.
I dont know if this is Websphere Specific but you have to create a listener port for the server then you reference the listener port in your MDB.
But my server fails to the start the listener port complaining about jndi problems.
TradePort is the name of my ListenerPort and jms/JMSTradePortDestination is the name of my DestinationJNDIName, trade is the name of my MDB.
I havent specified my DestinationJNDIName anywhere else as I understood it it is an arbitary name that the listener will use to accept jms requests.

• WLST - Changing server's listen port

Hi,
i'm trying to change the listen port of a managed server using WLST with the following code :

• RTSP:Listening Port- Server Class

I have been given a assignment which I have to write a detailed description of the main method from the Server class (available from http://www.csee.umbc.edu/~pmundur/courses/CMSC691C/lab5-kurose-ross.html)
An example of the level of description that is required is
The parse_server_response method of the Client class: The method starts by initialising a local variable
to zero. In lines 342 to 362, the Client tries to read the three lines of the server response. If this is
unsuccessful for any reason, the catch clause (lines 366 – 369) is executed.
I am new to JAVA, so wondered what is the best way to go about it e.g. suggested tutorial on RTSP:Listening port etc and any websites which will help me in getting an understanding of this kind of coding.
It is quite frustrating as we were only taught the basic of OO principles and the assignment is asking us to explain the code.
Thanks

Yes, but this does not go into the details of what is doing what. I need to know what each command line is doing??
Thnx

• Thin Listener Ports

I am using an Oracle Java thin driver (classes12.zip) to connect to Oracle 8.1.6 and found that the listener is not using the standard 1521 as I found using the lsnrctl utility. My DBA thinks the port may change if the listener is restarted. The driver can only see the non standard port (#52716), but all 8i clients can using the OCI driver. Is this something that is configurable in UNIX? Could the listener change its port if restarted?
Thanks

The DBA can configure the listener port in the listener.ora file. First shutdown the database and then modify the listener.ora file. Then start the database. And now you database should listen by the new port.
The listener.ora is in the $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin directory

• Portconfig error for http listen port

I know that this has been posted alot, I tried to do whatever following all the suggestion in other threads, still no luck.
I installed 10gas (10.1.2) infrastructure 10.1.2 on Solaris 9, and everything was running well. When I tried to change the http listen port from 7777 to 80 following the instruction in the administrator's guide (ch4 Manage port),
log in as root, execute the following command
# cd $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/bin
# chown root:root .apachectl
# chmod 6750 .apachectl
log in as the installation user (oracle) and execute the following command to configure ...
bash-2.05$ $ORACLE_HOME/jdk/bin/java oracle.sysman.ias.sta.tools.PortConfigCmdLine -oracleHome OARCLE_HOME -oldPort 7777 -newPort 80 -sso -url http://tmsoracle6.tms-hq.com -user root
Error: Invalid newPort value: 80
Changing the HTTP Server Listen port to a value < 1024 on Unix systems requires that the HTTP Server be changed to run as root. As specified in the the Managing Ports chapter of the Oracle Application Server Adminstrator's Guide, this can be done as follows:
cd $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/bin
chown root .apachectl
chmod 6750 .apachectl
Can anybod help me please? Thanks.
Jeff

There is only one port for listening, the listen port.
The Port entry is what OHS returns to the browser.
Example:
Webcache runs on port 80, OHS runs on 7778.
Then Listen is set to 7778, and Port is set to 80.
This will ensure that all URLs constructed for the browser are not pointing to port 7778 even though OHS is internally listening on 7778.

• Whats is difference between Java JRE and Java SDK

Hi,
what is the difference between Java JRE and Java SDK...
i think both of them have the same set of files to be installed...
I am not able to understand where they differ

The JRE (Java runtime Environment) contains just the stuff necessary to run Java and the SDK (System Development Kit) contains the extra stuff necessary (and also helpful) to develop in Java.

• Installation Problem - Java SDK 1.4.1

I have a problem with installing Java on my machine at home that you may be able to help me with.
Here are the Details: 1) I installed the most recent java SDK on my machine. 2) I set the Autoexec file with the correct PATH statement. 3) Set the correct CLASSPATH statement 4) The "Java -Version" statement gives the correct reply that it is version 1.4.
Below is my AutoExec.bat file
SET windir=C:\WINDOWS
SET winbootdir=C:\WINDOWS
SET COMSPEC=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM
SET PATH=C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~3\OFFICE;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\ATF
SET CLASSPATH=C:\J2SDK1_4\LIB\TOOLS.JAR;.;
SET PROMPT=$p$g
SET TEMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
SET TMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
Problem: Trying to compile a simple "HelloWorld" Program with "javac Helloworld.java" produces the error "Bad Command or File name".
Issues: Command Line in Windows ME requires 8.3 format. Inserts tilde "~" and a number into the names of the files. even using a short name such as "HelWrld.java" inserts a tilde because of the "java" extension. Have tried using a "jav" extension but that does not work as the error is the same.
Question: How can I get rid of the "Bad Command or File Name"?

My First Java Progam (for Windows with Java 2 SDK v1.4.1)
Follow these instructions EXACTLY.
1. Download and install the Java 2 SDK, Standard Edition. You can find it here:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/downloads.html
Select the download for your operating system and be sure to download the SDK (rightmost column) and not the JRE. (The JRE is only the Java Runtime Environment, which does not include the Java compiler and other tools needed for software development).
2. Read the README and installation instructions! Read these instead of asking questions about installation etc. in the Java forums.
README for Java 2 SDK v1.4.1: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/README.html
Java 2 SDK v1.4.1 for Windows installation: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/install-windows.html
Things to note:
- After installing, add the bin directory of the SDK to your PATH environment variable. For example, if you installed the SDK in C:\j2sdk1.4.1_01, add the directory C:\j2sdk1.4.1_01\bin to your PATH. (If you don't know what an environment variable is and how to set it, read the documentation of Windows; if you're using Windows XP, this might be useful: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q310519& ).
3. Open Notepad and type in your first program:
public class HelloWorld {
public static void main(String[] args) {
System.out.println("Hello World!");
Save this program somewhere with the filename "HelloWorld.java".
Things to note:
- The case of text is important. Don't type "Helloworld", "helloworld" or anything else. Also the case of the filename is important (even though Windows has case-insensive filenames!).
- Watch out that Notepad doesn't append ".txt" to the filename. The file should be named "HelloWorld.java", not "HelloWorld.java.txt".
4. Open a command prompt and go to the directory that contains the file "HelloWorld.java" (with the CD command).
5. Compile the progam with the following command:
javac HelloWorld.java
Things to note:
- If you get something like "Unknown command: javac" or "Bad command or filename", you did not (correctly) add the bin directory of the SDK to the PATH (see step 2).
6. Run the program. If you didn't get any compile errors, you now have a new file "HelloWorld.class" in the same directory. Run the program with the following command:
java HelloWorld
Things to note:
- If you get: "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloWorld/class", you have typed "java HelloWorld.class". Leave off the ".class" at the end. You are typing a class name here, not a filename.
- If you get something like: "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: helloworld (wrong name: HelloWorld)", you have typed the class name wrong. Note that the case is important (i.e., don't type "helloworld" but "HelloWorld")!
- You don't need to set any classpath here. In Java 1.4, the current directory is included in the classpath automatically. For older versions of Java, you may need to add the current directory (".") to the classpath, like this:
java -classpath . HelloWorld
7. Congratulations with your first working Java program. Now follow these links:

• How to create a report with data using the Crystal Reports for Java SDK

Hi,
How do I create a report with data that can be displayed via the Crystal Report for Java SDK and the Viewers API?
I am writing my own report designer, and would like to use the Crystal Runtime Engine to display my report in DHTML, PDF, and Excel formats. I can create my own report through the following code snippet:
ReportClientDocument boReportClientDocument = new ReportClientDocument();
boReportClientDocument.newDocument();
However, I cannot find a way to add data elements to the report without specifying an RPT file. Is this possible? I seems like it is since the Eclipse Plug In allows you to specify your database parameters when creating an RPT file.
is there a way to do this through these packages?
com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.data
com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.definition
Am I forced to create a RPT file for the different table and column structures I have?
Thank you in advance for any insights.

Hi Rameez,
After working through the example code some more, and doing some more research, I remain unable to populate a report with my own data and view the report in a browser. I realize this is a long post, but there are multiple errors I am receiving, and these are the seemingly essential ones that I am hitting.

There was other sample code on SDN which suggested the following - adding the table after calling table.setDataFields() as in:
String tableName = "Building";
String fieldname = "Building_Name";
Table oTable = new Table();

This code succeeds, but it is not clear how to add that database field to a section. If I attempt to call the following:
FieldObject oFieldObject = new FieldObject();
oFieldObject.setDataSourceName(field.getFormulaForm());
oFieldObject.setFieldValueType(field.getType());

oFieldObject.setTop(120);
oFieldObject.setWidth(1911);
oFieldObject.setHeight(226);
rcd.getReportDefController().getReportObjectController().add(oFieldObject, rcd.getReportDefController().getReportDefinition().getDetailArea().getSections().getSection(0), -1);
Then I get an error (which is not unexpected)
com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.ReportDefControllerException: The field was not found.---- Error code:-2147213283 Error code name:invalidFieldObject
How do I add one of the table.SetDataFields() to my report to be displayed?
Are there any other pointers or suggestions you may have?
Thank you

• How manage timeout Session using java SDK?

Hi everyone !
I'm working with BO 4.1 and the Java SDK. I'm refreshing and exporting webi reports in my code. But it happens, sometimes, the report takes longer to refresh (when calling "setPrompts") and the session is over (timeout like when you're connected in the Launchpad).
Is there any specific way for me to test if the call to setPrompts ends without timeout? Because, now, if it ends by a timeout, I do not see anything and I'm exporting a blank document. No error or exception :-/
Do I have to use de EnterpriseSession?
Thanks in advance !

Hi Jerome,
To understand BO session management, refer to the below document.
http://scn.sap.com/community/bi-platform/blog/2013/11/27/session-management-bible
How do you specify that there is a timeout? Do you get timeout errors in web intelligence server logs?
Check whether enterprise session is still valid.
What is the approximate time delay you observe for setPrompts when you observe the timeout?
