BPC 7.0- phased upgrade

Hello All,
We currently have OutlookSoft 4.2 on our Corporate (consolidated) and the various international regions (subsidiaries) and are considering upgrade to BPC 7.0. Is it possible to go for a phased roll out by first upgrading Corporate to BPC 7.0 and then rolling out to the different sites gradually? We currenlty have a separate instance of OLS for each region.
Thanks,
Sandesh

Hi Sandesh -
Please view the attached FAQs docuement surrounding migrations from BPC 4.x to BPC, version for Netweaver.

  • BPC 7.0 MS upgrade - reinitiate SSIS packages required

    Hello,
We have recently upgraded from BPC 5.1 to BPC 7.0 MS version.
We have SSIS package to load Accounts (as flat file), which load the flat file into a staging table and then moved to <mbraccount>.
This setup works very fine till in BPC 5.1, after upgrade to BPC 7.0 MS and noticed that the Account - member are loaded in jumbled order. Further investigating, we found that the SSIS packages loaded to staging table in the same jumbled order and then followed to copy the same in mbraccount table.
    1. Should we required to re-initiate all the SSIS packages (custom built) after BPC 7.0 MS upgrade?
    2. Have SSIS packages to load other MasterData, the same procedure as above but no issues in display order of dimension members. Why is it so?
    Any clue..
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Tim,
    Thanks for the reply.
No change in the versions SQL SERVER  2005 and EXCEL 2003 for both SAP 5.1 and 7.0.112
These DM packages are customised and flow of data is as below:
Flat File -->  Clear the staging table (delete from stage) --> load the flatfile data into Staging table ( via Data Flow task, Table - Fast load option) --> clear the MBR tbl --> Copy Stage into MBRACCOUNT table
Not using the SSIS bulk insert.
This works well after gone live almost for 4-5 months in BPC 5.1 and as said recently upgraded in Mid June 2009, we have issues loading MasterData in jumbled order.
Account ids are all numeric. Flat file extracted from SAP R/3 is in correct sequential order and while loading into Stagingtable.. it sorting order varies and then copied the same into Mbr<dim> table.
Should this problem be with SSIS packages? Any clues.
    Warm Regards

  • BPC 7.5NW SP upgrade

    Hello Experts,
We are currently on SP 06 and are planning an upgrade to one of the newer service packs.  On this end, we have the following questions:
    1.  How does the upgrade process work?  Do we have to perform the upgrade in the serial order of the service packs?  Meaning, do we have to go from SP 06 -> SP 07 -> SP 08 -> SP 09, or can we directly go from SP 06 to SP 09?
    2.  What are the consequences of upgrading to the latest SP, i.e., SP 09?  Can we safely assume that all the bugs that were identified in SP 07 and SP 08 would stay 'fixed' in SP 09 upgrade?
    3.  What is the recommended time frame / interval to perform an upgrade from current SP to the next SP?
    4.  When we are performing an upgrade, can we perform the upgrade only on a specific appset instead of the entire server environment?
    5.  While performing the upgrade, can we pick and choose the notes?  Or do we have to install all the SAP Notes at once?
    6.  Lastly, what is the typical effort involved?  And how long would the upgrade process usually take?  We are asking this because we don't want this upgrade process to collide with our financial closing process.
I request your kind guidance with regards to the above questions.  All reponses are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for all your guidance.
    Best regards..
    Van.

    Hi,
    >
    > 1.  How does the upgrade process work?  Do we have to perform the upgrade in the serial order of the service packs?  Meaning, do we have to go from SP 06 -> SP 07 -> SP 08 -> SP 09, or can we directly go from SP 06 to SP 09?
You can directly upgrade to target support package level.  You can check upgrade guide for it.
    > 2.  What are the consequences of upgrading to the latest SP, i.e., SP 09?  Can we safely assume that all the bugs that were identified in SP 07 and SP 08 would stay 'fixed' in SP 09 upgrade?
You need to perform testing in order to check if all is working fine or not.
    > 3.  What is the recommended time frame / interval to perform an upgrade from current SP to the next SP?
SAP  keep on releasing support package. So, based on your upgrade policy or if there is requirement to upgrade to get new functionality or as SAP recommends to update SP's to latest level always, you can plan the upgrade.
    > 4.  When we are performing an upgrade, can we perform the upgrade only on a specific appset instead of the entire server environment?
No, upgrade is not appset specific.
    > 5.  While performing the upgrade, can we pick and choose the notes?  Or do we have to install all the SAP Notes at once?
Its not like applying SAP notes. Its a bundled format where you need to do the upgrade of whole server.
    > 6.  Lastly, what is the typical effort involved?  And how long would the upgrade process usually take?  We are asking this because we don't want this upgrade process to collide with our financial closing process.
    >
There are no standard timing to do the upgrade. You can upgrade your test/sandbox BPC server and do the proper testing. As a result you will have an estimate about the time required in upgrade.
    Thanks

  • BPC 7.0 MS upgrade - EVDRE:OK not displaying in templates and reports

    Hello again,
A strange behaviour in EVDRE templates and reports is noticed:
    Version - BPC 7.0 MS
EVDRE templates and reports (built in 5.1, working fine) are migrated along with the appset in BPC 7.0.
Found that the EXPANDALL doesn't work neither shows error or hangs. But the reports are refreshed for CV selection.
While checking the control panel, noticed that the 'EVDRE:OK' is missing, cell is blank/ orange shaded, No EVDRE errors.
This applies for the sample EVDRE templates as well as complex reports with multiple EVDREs.
If we logout and re-launch the BPC Excel / Reports again, it is working as usual.
The occurance of this behaviour is quite frequent or we missing any setting.
Does anybody encountered this and throw some light to troubleshoot.
    Thanks.
    Warm Regards
    Uma

    Hi Wellington,
Have tried those options.. its unstable behaviour.
Noticed that this issue happen only when we switch over to multiple BPC enviroments. Working on DEV - Excel templates and switch over the QA or PRD environment with the same template open...
The issue happens.. EVDRE:OK doesn't show, in the cell A1, click F2 , we can see this formula =EVDRE($B$57,A6:B13,A19:B25) and hitting ENTER , responds nothing. A1 cell is blank.
WorkAround :: I shut down EXCEL, relaunch again.
I have experienced this only in BPC 7.0.112, earlier 5.X no issues.
    Experts,
Please confirm whether this is a product bug.

  • Upgrade Groupwise7 to Groupwise2014

    Hi,
We are currently using Groupwise7 and are planning to upgrade it to the latest version i.e. Groupwise 2014 (finally )
I need to know, whether can we upgrade Groupwise7 to Groupwise2014 directly or it requires phased upgrade (e.g. Groupwise7 to Groupwise2012 and then to Groupwise2014... )
    Please guide.
    Thanks

    Understanding the Upgrade Process
You can upgrade a GroupWise 8 or GroupWise 2012 system to GroupWise 2014.
IMPORTANT:If you need to upgrade from an older GroupWise version, you
must upgrade at least to GroupWise 8, and preferably to GroupWise 2012,
in order to ensure that your GroupWise data is compatible with the
upgrade process that is provided in GroupWise 2014.
If your GroupWise system is still on NetWare, see "Migrating Away from
NetWare" in the GroupWise 2012 Installation Guide.
    ---end---
So to get from GroupWise 7 to GroupWise 2014 you'll need to go via
    GroupWise 8 or (preferably) 2012.
That obviously is glossing over upgrading (or migrating) the server OS
that your GroupWise system currently runs on.

    Hello Simon,
Thanks for the guidance and the link.
I hope that upgrading from GW7 to GW2012 and then to GW2014 can be done serially after the other; so that upgrading the client software will be straight from 7 to 14 for users.

We want to install SAP BPC version 10.0 NW on our Server. Our clients has installed BPC 7.5 SP5
Is possible connect the client version 7.5  with Server on 10.0?

  • EA4500 – Smart Wi-Fi interface and Windows Network Map issues

I purchased this Router about 2 weeks ago as a phased upgrade of our Home Network, primarily to enhance media streaming. It has the latest firmware preinstalled from the factory. Prior to the purchase and installation of the EA4500 Router I replaced my old Motorola SurfBoard SB6120 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem with a Motorola SurfBoard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem. My old Linksys E2000 Router worked perfectly with the SB6141, with the exception that the E2000 wasn’t IPv6 enabled, but does have 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet (RJ-45) and Internet ports.
The EA4500 has been installed for about 10 days and seems to have improved local network speeds and I don’t seem to be having any Internet connectivity issues. However, there are some disturbing issues with the EA4500 and the AE3000 I purchased. There are 11 devices connected through the Router; a Dell Desktop (wireless with the AE3000), a Dell Desktop (Ethernet), a Dell Laptop (wireless), 2 Canon Printers (1 Ethernet and 1 Wireless), 2 Western Digital 1TB MyBookLive Network Drives (both Ethernet), a WD TV Live Streaming Media Player (wireless), an Apple TV media player (wireless), an iPad (wireless), and an Android Smartphone (wireless).
Issue 1 – The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi interface appears to be unreliable at times!!! I’ve read about this problem here on the Community involving the EA6500, so I don’t know if this is a Linksys Server issue, as suggested in a few responses, or a bug in the Router firmware, or defective hardware. However, when the interface locks up, it can’t be accessed from a wireless or wired connection. Usually, powering down the Router and then powering it back up and restart will allow it to function again. However, at times before the interface completely locks up it shows either just a white screen or the security screen will show no firewall features enabled. This is a little scary, so I’ll do a complete reset and setup; this is becoming a pain in the rear!!!!! Is there any hope for this being fixed, in this Router, not the next generation??????????
Issue 2 - All of my network devices show up in the Router’s Device List. Except for the Apple devices they also show up, when they are online, in Windows 7 Explorer under Network and when you click on Network they are correctly displayed as Computers, Media Devices, Network Infrastructure, or Storage. However, when you click on “Open Network and Sharing Center” and then click on “See Full Map”; it fails with the response “Windows cannot create the network map. Responses from other devices on the network are delayed or there is an incompatible router on the network”; no device map is shown. When I follow the link for more information, the only thing that stands out is “A device on the network, such as a hub or switch, is not working properly or is not compatible with the Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) protocol, which Windows uses to create the map. To fix this problem, disable the device, turn it off, or remove it from your network”. All of my network devices showed up on the Network Map with the old E2000. This issue is the same on all of my computers, either wired or wireless. Any known solutions for this, or is it as Windows suggests; an incompatible Router????
Thanks in advance for any insight or solutions. With the issues I’m having with the EA4500 and the AE3000; they are both probably going back to Amazon.

thebluemamba_24; Thank you for your suggestion; I finally found time yesterday to perform an extensive evaluation before I return the Router. However, rather than trying to add devices manually, my rationale was if the EA4500 can’t process them correctly, automatically, it needs to be returned anyway, so I added devices normally letting the device an Router handle the process.
In thinking through this issue, all devices on our network are detected and identified by Windows Explorer on Windows 7 computers; except of course the Apple and Android devices (Apple TV, iPad, and Smartphone). So, I wondered if one of those three devices being added to the Router’s device list was somehow causing issues or interfering with Windows 7’s ability to generate a Network Map. Therefore, my approach was to turn off or disable all devices on our network, reset the Router to factory defaults, reestablish the Router to my custom Home Network configuration using a Windows 7 PC that has LAN and Wireless access to the Router, then add one device at a time and check with each addition to see if Windows 7 could still generate a Network Map.
With the Router reset and reestablishment complete; I began the process of adding one device at a time and checking to see if a Network Map was being generated. What I discovered was when a recent addition to the network, a Western Digital WD TV Live Streaming Media Player, was connected (wirelessly), Windows 7 could no longer generate the Network Map and the failure was consistent. The only way to get the Network Map to work again was to remove power from the WD TV Live, although it remained in the EA4500’s Device List; simply turning it off didn’t help. Since I’d originally witnessed the Windows 7 Network Map working with the Linksys E2000 Router that the EA4500 replaced, I decided to test the WD TV Live with that Router. It worked initially, but it failed consistently after the first success. Interestingly, the failure indication was a little different, but nevertheless generation of the Network Map failed.
I’ve tried changing a few settings on the EA4500 as well as the WD TV Live, but nothing helped. There was a recent firmware update to the WD TV Live, so I might try rolling back the firmware to see if it makes a difference.
The Network Map issue might very well be an issue with the WD TV Live, not the Router, but after reading many threads on this Community I have reservations that the problems I’m experiencing with the Smart interface lockup will be fixed. I suspect new emerging replacement products will be the focus and these older products will be abandoned and no more firmware fixes will be forthcoming and I don’t want to spend more money for a new product just to fix old problems and get something that works properly. The Network Map issue is troublesome, but the lockup of the Router’s “Linksys Smart Wi-Fi” interface is a serious matter to me. It appears that once it locks up, the only way to correct it is a power off restart; not practical if you’re traveling and trying to access settings remotely; the selling point for this feature.
Given the problems I’m experiencing with the EA4500 and AE3000, I guess I’ll return them. Too bad, because otherwise the EA4500 seems like it’s a good Router. I’ve been brand loyal since the Linksys WRT54G came out, but after reading this Community and with my personal experience with the EA4500 and AE3000, now I’ll probably give the NETGEAR N900 equivalents a try.

  • Macbook pro13 or air 13?

I am a second year uni stdudent studying graphic design, I was using PC but it seems I need a Mac for my following years.
I need my new Mac run some design's software like photoshop illustrator and so on, so which Mac is best for me?
I like the weight of MBA and its higher resolution, but MBP is more powerful and can be upgrated in the future.
Which one is better for me?

Between the 13 inch MacBook Air and Pro, there is not a lot of difference now. The Air now has 8GB RAM option, so the MacBook Pro has only a better processor and hard-drive space, although if you need more space the Air now has a 512GB option so even in this area it is catching up.
I would say the MacBook Air will work fine for you and would recommend it unless you are really certain you will upgrade it in the future.
Although it seems Apple are looking at phasing upgradeability out at least for notebooks anyway. Plus Macs hold their value very well and there is a large market for 2nd hand ones. In a couple of years you could probably get close to 50% of what you payed for your Mac provided it's kept in good condition.

  • EVDRE error on certain member from Dimension

    Hi,
One of the template will have EVDRE error when selection this entity. Upon check, by creating simple EVDRE report, some new members from this entity cause the EVDRE error. The new members was just added to the dimension and no issue when running process dimension. We have open the dimension, save and re run the process dimension without any error but still have the evdre error when open the template with the entity. No issue with other entity For info we are running BPC MS 7.5 upgraded recently from BPC MS 7.0. Any help is very much appreciated.

    Hi Kheirudin,
sorry from your description I didn't understand it was the same issue. If it is the same normally you're able to process the dim the day after.
You don't need to raise to SAP, SAP has released one years ago, see please 1633966 - BPC MS: EVDRE encountered an error retrieving data from the Web Server, "Errors found retrieving data" .
For my experience it's sufficient as workaround to update the date of the .dep files, without stop and restart of services as described in the thread of your last answer.
Let me know if the workaround is clear or not.
    Regards

  • How to Mantain Current View

    Hello Experts,
I saved the Input Shedule with Year 2011 and version Budget.
The problem is that sometimes I open my Input Schedule and the Year and Version changes to other values.
Do you know why this appenned? There are any way I can fix the Year and Version in Inuput Schedule?
    Best Regards,
    Rodrigo

    Hi Rodrigo,
We had a similar situation after upgrading to SAP BPC NW 7.5 SP06 and tried several options to lock the input schedules and reports but when we switch over from one application to another the actions pane values keep changing .
Please let me know which version of BPC you are using. If you are on BPC 7.5 then upgrade to SP07 you will not see this issue anymore as it is a program error by SAP. Thanks.
    FYI the thread i posted.

  • SAP MAM and IntelaTrac

    Hi ,
We have come across a case in which we need to know what are the advantages of SAP MAM over Intelatrac ( a field force automation software)
Has any one done this kind of study ? Which suite suites in which environment and how does one go about deciding which one to go for ?
After initial reading i felt that thare are too many components one would require in SAP MAM as compared to intelatrac.. any comments ?
    -Mahesh

I am not listing down advantages of one over the other but here are few things that need to go in before a decision is made.
    1) Do you want a Offline or an online solution. Sounds likeIntela is a on line solution? Online solutions have there own set of problems e.g. its like working on internet and  suddenly the net going down... we loose all the captured data. Network getting slow and page navigation getting frustrating.
    2) How do you deploy the application to large number of users and how do you track them.
    3) what happens when upgrades are needed and what is the upgrade strategy. e.g. will you be able to work with a few devices on version 1.0 and few on 1.5 if you are going in for a phased upgrade?
    4) Would you have multiple users using the same device ?
There are many more questions that can come up. But first decide wether you need an online or a off line solution.

  • WAAS - Kernel crash and / or ... msg

    Hello,
We have an alert message for some WAE512/612, exact message is Kernel Crash files and / or User Core files detected. I searched on this forum for a fix, found that I can have help by looking into files located in the core_dir directory. So I downloaded one to my laptop but I do not know how to read it... By editing it, most of the characters are not readable. Do you know how to do? Thanks for your help!

The 4.0 train is very stable and the 4.0.21 release contains many fixes if you need to upgrade. Has the TAC given you any feedback on what caused your file?
I would have you consider waiting for 4.1.3 which is being released later this month. It will contain a few new features (SSL optimization), but also many more DDTS fixes then what are currently in 4.1.1d.
To upgrade to any 4.1.x release, you need to upgrade the CM(s) first and then the Application Accelerators. Once you have upgraded the CM first, then you can run in mixed mode in a phased upgrade as needed.
    Hope that helps,
    Dan
