BPEL designer issues

Hi,
I facing following problems while designing BPEL process using Oracle JDeveloper 10g BPEL Designer :
1> While editing XPath exp through query builder in activities (e.g assign, switch) it takes a lot of time which is actually irritating.
2>Sometimes the design through bpel designer is not saved back in the .bpel file even after it shows that file is saved. And once i close the JDeveloper i loose my design because it opens the old bpel file in design mode.
If any one is having workaround for this or if this problem is resolved in some latest version of Oracle JDeveloper BPEL Designer then pls tell me.
With thanks and regards
Pankaj Kumar.

OK, good to know, John. Eventually a person figures it out one way or the other. I realize all of this stuff exists in documentation someplace, but there's only so many hours in the day. And if you're using JDeveloper 10.1.3, with JDeveloper 11 already available, you don't necessarily expect a lot of the articles you run across to be so old that they still refer to workspaces. I'm not saying that these are necessarily Oracle articles.
As an aside I've found Oracle documentation to be pretty good. I use Oracle software on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. For ESB and BPEL on Linux the main problem with the docs is that they are incomplete. It's disconcerting to see continual references to having to turn BPEL Designer on, in Windows, and have no instructions concerning that for Linux, as one example. As it happens, doing a "startall" for opmnctl does everything I need, so if there's a separate BPEL Designer started up by that (as opposed to the BPEL Process Manager) I guess that's where it gets fired up. That may also be covered in documentation someplace, for Linux, but I haven't found it.

  • (Eclipse) BPEL Designer-countless temp file issue

For some weird reason, countless temp files are created. I think this happens everytime I use java embedding to update the database...and build the project. Not sure though. And I am unable to delete all these files and they show up only after they have grown.
Any one w/ the same issue???
ps-Ok, countless is a bit too exaggerated…but ya – too many:)

I have exactly the same problem. Seems like a problem with Oracle BPEL designer. Do you also have nested temp directories?

  • "Problem building schema" exception in BPEL Designer

    Hi all,
I use BPEL Designer 10.1.2.0.2 and encounter the following problem:
I built a web service based on the Oracle Toplink How To demo. The web service has one published method that returns a custom 'Customer' object.
I deployed the web service on my localhost (AS 10.1.3)
In my BPEL process, I create a partnerlink based on the WSDL that was generated by JDeveloper and let BPEL Designer create a local copy.
Then I created an invoke and had the wizard create in- and output variables for the invoke.
When I select either the input- or output variable in the structure pane, I get an error message when I click on the 'parameters' entry. The message shown is 'Exception - problem building schema!'
When I check the 'show detailed node information' box no additional info is shown!
Any Idea what might go wrong?
    The WSDL looks as follows:

    Hi
I know it's an old thread, but I'm having the same issue.
I have created an EJB3 web service that returns an object with 2 nested objects. The autogenerated WSDL looks something like this:

I've tried injecting my own WSDL into the EJB3 web service through annotations, but it will not compile....
    Can anybody help????
    Thanks

  • BPEL Designer 10.1.2.0.2 Database Connection Error

    Hi,
I'm trying to create a database connection in JDeveloper 10.1.2.1.0 Build 1915 (BPEL Designer version) but I get ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID ... error for a particular database. I can connect to the same database using JDeveloper 10.1.3 with no errors, also in SQL Plus, and I can connect to another database on the same server with no problem. I need to create a BPEL 10.1.2 process that connects to this database and so far I'm unable to do so.
Here's the full error details and the tnsnames.ora entry for this database.
Listener refused the connection with the following error:
ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor
The Connection descriptor used by the client was:
    xxxx:1521:oms.x1
    Here's the tnsnames.ora entry:
    oms.x1 =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = xxxx)(PORT = 1521)))
    (CONNECT_DATA =(SERVICE_NAME = oms.x1))
Here's the tnsnames.ora entry for the other database on the same server, that I can create a database connection to. The only difference as far as I can tell is with the service names, the unsuccessful connection has a "." in the service name, the successful connection does not.
    XOAS2 =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = xxxx)(PORT = 1521)))
    (CONNECT_DATA =(SERVICE_NAME = XOAS2))
When I try to create a connection to the same database referencing a second tnsnames entry with .world extension, this also fails with the same error. Here's the tnsnames.ora entry and error message from JDeveloper for that connection.
    XOAS2.WORLD =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = xxxx)(PORT = 1521)))
    (CONNECT_DATA =(SERVICE_NAME = XOAS2.world))
Listener refused the connection with the following error:
ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor
The Connection descriptor used by the client was:
    xxxx:1521:XOAS2.world
Any help you can provide in resolving this will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Candace

    Steve,
I tried the custom JDBC connection and still get the same error. I have been able to successfully connect to this database using a jdbc-odbc bridge connection after creating a local ODBC datasource, just to see if I can connect at all, but I don't want to have to use this connection method.
I have also tried adding a tnsnames entry with omsx1, and I get the same error for creating a jdbc connection. However, this tnsnames entry is the one I had to use for the ODBC connection in order to successfully create the jdbc-odbc bridge connection.
As far as both databases listening on the same port, this doesn't seem to be an issue when I configure this connection in JDeveloper 10.1.3. This issue seems to be related to using JDeveloper 10.1.2, which I need to use in order to create 10.1.2 BPEL projects.
I was wondering whether it's possible to use the jdbc driver that JDeveloper 10.1.3 uses in JDeveloper 10.1.2? I can post this to the JDeveloper forum if that's more appropriate.
    Thanks for the pointers
    Candace

  • JDev 11g 111 with BPEL designer - cant connect to BPA Server

I have just installed the latest 11g JDeveloper and added the BPEL designer.
I notice that in the composite designer I can connect to or create a connection to the BPA server.
I have BPA designer 10.1.3.3...which I used with JDeveloper 10.1.3.1. This is running on my local PC.
However I am not able to create a connection to it in the latest Jdeveloper.
When I try to add a BPA server, as soon as I select Local server (as opposed to Remote).. it tries to connect and fails :

Am I missing some setup configuration or perhaps additional updates ?
Has anyone resolved this issue ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
The problem still seems to persist, despite the version change. I have tried with JDev ver 11g and Oracle BPA 11gR1. I test the connection. Result Test Succeeded. But when I click on the OK button, it does not close the dialogue box and allow me to proceed. I need to cancel and hence unable to establish connection .

  • BPEL designer problem

    Hey guys,
I am trying to download BPEL designer and it absolutely does not let me register my eclipse directory. The eclipse version I am using is 3.0.1, my eclipse dir is
C:/eclipse and thats what I am entering when the BPEL designer installation asks me. But it keeps telling me that the eclipse version has to be more than 3.0
Is there a trick to this I cant see? I have been trying diff. combinations but to no avail.
    Thanks in advance,
    Matt

Sorry. This is a bug in the installer of BPEL designer 2.0.10. Please refer to BPEL plug-in not installing on eclipse 3.0.1 for more information. We are in the process of pushing out 0.9.6 which addresses this issue. -Edwin

  • BPEL Designer installation for eclipse

How do I get the BPEL designer installation for eclipse, since I cou;dnt find it anywhere, I can download the installation for BPEL Process Manager but not the designer
    Thanks
    Rasika

that's too bad. I also have wasted some time looking for the eclipse plug in and would have preferred that approach. I've not had good experience with jDeveloper in the past, but even if those issues have been solved, eclipse is a good standard approach that oracle should support

  • Does JDeveloper 10g's "rich BPEL design time" work on Solaris 9?

I know JDeveloper runs on Solaris, but does the BPEL designer (part of JDeveloper) run on Solaris? We are currently assessing migration effort from version 2.1.2 to 10.1.2 and it would be much easier to get an answer from someone who already knows versus our own adventure of discovery. From what I have read, nothing suggests that the need to develop on Windows has been eliminated via JDeveloper.
Although I have yet to use the latest Eclipse plugin, I am assuming this still requires windows (IE's MSXML for what appears to be xpath type functionality....selectNodes(..))? (a good or bad assumption??)
    Thanks for the quick help,
    Dustin

The issue is now resolved. I was selecting a different product for the install.
    Thank you.

  • No option to create new workspace in JDeveloper; turning BPEL Designer "on"

I'm trying to do some BPEL work on Linux, using JDeveloper Studio 10.1.3.4.
    A couple of issues:
    1) although the BPEL Designer shows up as a component in the "About", and BPEL Process Modeler shows up as a loaded extension in the same place, BPEL Process Project is a grayed-out option in New Projects. This may simply be due to the fact that BPEL Designer apparently needs to be turned "on", and I've yet to figure out how to do that on Linux (since the documentation is mostly for Windows).
So if this problem is solved by turning the JDeveloper BPEL Designer "on", I sure wouldn't mind knowing how to do it on Linux. It's easy enough to start the BPEL Process Manager - I have that running right now - but I see no shell script anywhere in the SOA Suite installation that remotely looks like it might start BPEL Designer.
    2) Many of the tutorials say that one should create a workspace in JDeveloper. According to them this is available as an option under File > New. Well, in Linux JDeveloper Studio 10.1.3.4 it's not available at all. It doesn't even exist as a disabled option. I find this curious, and somewhat disturbing.
Any ideas as to why something so central doesn't show up?
    Regards,
    Arved

  • BPEL Installation Issues and Eclipse Plugin Issue

I'm trying to evaluate BPEL and encountered the following issues:
    (1) Installation of patch 4343748:
    MISSING_COMPONENT : oracle.j2ee, 10.1.2.0.0
This Oracle Home does not have components/versions required by the patch.
ERROR: OPatch failed during pre-reqs check.
OPatch returns with error code = 150
The other 2 patches installed fine.
Is there a required order for installing the patches. The information that I found is a bit spotty on that.
    (2) The Eclipse Plugin also doesn't work properly. The following stack trace is reported back, when trying to open a .bpel file:

  • Design issue with the multiprovider

Design issue with the multiprovider :
I have the following problem when using my multiprovider.
The data flow is like this. I have the info-objects IobjectA, IobjectB, IobjectCin my Cube.(Source for this data is s-systemA)
And from another s-system I am also loading the masterdata for IobjectA
Now I have created the multiprovider based on the cube and IobjectA.
However, surprisingly join in not workign in multiprovider correctly.
    Scenario :
    Record from the Cube.
    IObjectA= 1AAA
    IObjectB = 2BBB
    IObjectC = 3CCC
    Records from IobjectA =1AAA.
I expect the record should be like this :
    IObjectA : IObjectB: IObjectC
    1AAA       :2BBB       :3CCC
However, I am getting the record like this:
    IObjectA : IObjectB: IObjectC
    1AAA       :2BBB       :3CCC
    1AAA         : #             :#
In the Identification section I have selected both the entries for IobjectA still I am getting this error.
My BW Version is 3.0B and the SP is 31.
Thanks in advance for your suggestion.

May be I was not clear enough in my first explanation, Let me try again to explain my scenario:
My Expectation from Multi Provider is :
    IObjectA
    1AAA
    (From InfoObject)
    Union
    IObjectA     IObjectB     IObjectC
    1AAA     2BBB     3CCC
    (From Cube)
The record in the multiprovider should be :
    IObjectA     IObjectB     IObjectC
    1AAA     2BBB     3CCC
Because, this is what the Union says .. and the Definition of the multiprovider also says the same thing :
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_bw30b/helpdata/EN/ad/6b023b6069d22ee10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
Do you still think this is how the behaviour of the multiprovider.. if that is the case what would be the purpose of having an infoobject in the multiprovider.
Thank you very much in advance for your responses.
    Best Regards.,
    Praveen.

  • Data mart from two DSOs to one - Loosing values - Design issue

    Dear BW experts,
I´m dealing with a design issue for which I would really appreciate any help and suggestions.
I will be as briefly as possible, and explain further based on the doubts , questions I received in order to make it easier go through this problem.
I have two standard DSOs (DSO #1 and #2) feeding a third DSO (DSO #3), also standard.
Each transformation DOES NOT include all fields, but only some of them.
One of the source DSO (let´s call it DSO #1) is uploaded with a datasource that allows reverse type of records  (Record Mode = 'R'). Therefore some updates on DSO #1 comes with one entry with record mode 'R' and a 2nd entry with record mode = 'N' (new).
Both feeds are delta mode, and not the same entries are updated through each of them, but the entries that are updated can differ (means an specific entry (unique key values)  could be update by one of the feeds, but no updates on the 2nd feed for that entry).
Issue we have:  When a 'R' and 'N' entries happen in DSO #1 for any entry, that entry is also reversed and re created in the target DSO #3 (even being that not ALL fields are mapped in the transformation), and thefore we loose ALL the values that are exclusively updated through DSO #2, becoming blank.
I don´t know it we are missing something in our design, or how should we fix this issue we have.
Hope I was more or less clear with the description.
    ´d really appreciatted your feedback.
    Thanks!!
    Gustavo

    Hi Gustavo
Two things I need to know.
    1. Do you have any End Routine in your DSO? If yes, what is the setting under "Update behavior of End Routine Display"....Option available right side of Delete Button ater End Rouine.
    2. Did you try with Full Load from DSO1 and DSO2 to DSO3? Do you face the same problem?

  • Design issue with sharing LV2 style global between run-time executables

    Hi,
Just when I though that I had everything figured out, I ran into this design issue.
The application that I wrote is pretty much a client-server application where the server publishes data and the client subscribes data using data sockets. Once the client gets all the data in the mainClient.vi program, I use LV2 style (using shift registers) to make the data global to all the other sub-vi’s. So the LV2 is in initialize mode in the mainClient.vi program and then in the sub-vi’s the LV2 is in read mode. Also, I had built the run time menu for each sub-vi that when an item is selected from the menu, I would use the get menu selection to get the item tag which will be the file nam
e of the sub-vi and open the selected sub-vi using vi server. This all worked great on my workstation where I have labVIEW 7.0 Express installed. But the final goal is to make exe’s for each of these sub-vi’s and install runtime on the PC’s that do not have labVIEW installed. Of course when I did that only the mainClient.exe program was getting the updated data from the server but the sub-vi’s were not getting the data from the mainClient.exe. I did realize that the reason for this is due to the fact that I had compiled all the sub-vi’s separately and so the LV2 vi is now local to each executable (i.e. all executables have their own memory location). Also, the run-time menu did not work because now I am trying to open an executable using vi server properties.
To summarize, is there a way to share LV2 style global's between executables without compiling all of the sub-vi’s at one time? I tried using data-sockets (local-host) instead of LV2 st
yle gloabls to communicate between the sub-vi’s but I ran into performance issues due to the large volume of data.
I would really appreciate it if anyone can suggest a solution/alternative to this problem.
    Thanks
    Nish

    > 1)   How would I create a wrap-around for the LV2.vi which is
    > initialized in my mainClient.vi and then how would I use vi server in
    > my sub-vi to refer to that LV2.vi?
    > You mentioned that each sub-vi when opened will first connect to the
    > LV2.vi via via-server and will keep the connection in the shift

    > (pass-by-reference) the shared memory of the mainClient.vi? If this
    > is what you meant I think that this might work for my application.
    >
If the LV2 global is loaded statically into your mainClient.vi, then any
other application can connect to the exe and get a reference to the VI
using the VI name. This gives you a VI reference you can use to call
    the VI. Ye
s, the values will be copied between applications. That is
why you need to add access operations to the global that returns just
the info needed. If you need the average, do that in the global. If
you need the array size, do that in the global. Returning the entire
array shouldn't be a common operation on the LV2 style global anyway.

    > the client’s PC where the mainClient.vi program subscribes the
    > data (i.e. 5 arrays of double type and each arrays has about 50,000

    > referencing the mainClient.vi data via vi-server from each sub-vi?
Your app does need to watch both the amount of data being passed across
the network, and the amount being shared between the apps. You might
    want to consider puttin
g the VIs back into the main app. What is the
reason you are breaking them apart for?

Id like to ask for your help in the following design issue:
I need to create an email sending web service (with Axis). Only just one method which returns with an integer return code. This handles the following:
    - based on the given parameters gets the email addresses from an
LDAP server (with netscape ldap for java)
    -     makes a cache from them (only after a timeout period will be the cache
refreshed) (dont know what tool to use for this)
    -     selects html templates which to be sent based on the given parameters
    -     sends emails with the appropriate templates (with Velocity)
    -     the whole process is logged (with log4j)
I have to write the code as generic as possible. I know that some design pattern should be used for this. (some from GoF , and I know there exists design patterns specially created for web services as well).
Could you enumerate me which patterns (and for what part of the program) would be the best choice to solve this problem? I have read through some books about patterns, but dont have the knowledge to pick up the right one for a concrete problem like this..
    Thank you in advance,
    nagybaly

    Hello,
Id like to ask for your help in the following design
    issue:
I need to create an email sending web service (with
Axis). Only just one method which returns with an
integer return code. This handles the following:Lots of responsibilities here. You would do well to break this up into several classes that you can test separately.
I would also advise that you not embed all this in a servlet. Make a service that collaborates with several objects to accomplish the task and let the serlvet just call it.
.> - based on the given parameters gets the email
    addresses from an
LDAP server (with netscape ldap for java)I'd recommend Spring's LDAP module. Pretty terrific stuff.
cache from them (only after a timeout period will be
    the cache
refreshed) (dont know what tool to use for
this)Maybe EhCache or OsCache or something like that.
    -     selects html templates which to be sent based on
the given parametersWhere does this come from? Certainly not the LDAP. A relational database? Write a DAO for the document template.
    -     sends emails with the appropriate templates (with
Velocity)Have an e-mail sender service using Java Mail.
    -     the whole process is logged (with log4j)Easily done.
I have to write the code as generic as possible. I
know that some design pattern should be used for
this. No pattern. There might be patterns, if you say that the DAOs to access the LDAP and RDB are patterns.
Stop thinking patterns and start thinking objects.
(some from GoF , and I know there exists design
patterns specially created for web services as
    well).Nope.
Could you enumerate me which patterns (and for what
part of the program) would be the best choice to
solve this problem? I have read through some books
about patterns, but dont have the knowledge to pick
up the right one for a concrete problem like this..
    Thank you in advance,
nagybalyYou haven't read them because they aren't there. Your problem is pretty specific, even if it's common.

  • Integration of custom identity services with JDeveloper BPEL designer

    Hi,
I'd like to know if a custom user repository plugin will cause the 'Identity Lookup Dialog' (Step 6 of Human Workflow Wizard to generate a user task) to utilize the list of users and groups from a third party provider, when used as the Custom Identity Service provider.
I'd like to have the custom list of users and groups at 'design time' of the BPEL process itself, as well as process runtime. Is this possible?
This is with respect to both BPEL PM v10.2.0.2 and v 10.1.3.1.0.
    Regards,
    Vineet

ok, thank you for the reply.
But the installation of the Oracle BPEL Process Manger for Developers which includes the JDeveloper and the BPEL Designer doesn't come with 10.1.3.1.0?
I have to install the JDeveloper and the BPEL Process Manager seperate?
    Thx
