BPEL Transaction Inactive : Instance terminated without handling the Error

Hi All,
     I have a BPEL process which uses XA transaction to insert data in MS SQL Server table.
When I try to insert "out of range date value", it errs out as expected, but the transaction terminates without proceeding for the error handling part. I even tried disabling the idempotent option for the DB adapter, still the process terminates without error handling.
Kindly guide me how I can overcome transaction inactive issue and handle the error in the catch all block.
Thanks in advance.
The error message is as follows,

Hello,
You can't catch the roll back exception directly. It will rollback your transaction and because of that it will not get in the catch block.
To solve this you can create a new BPEL to do the DB insert. Invoke that BPEL with a new transaction. Catch the Database error in the first BPEL
Example:
  <component name="InsertData" version="2.0">
    <implementation.bpel src="InsertData.bpel"/>
    <property name="bpel.config.transaction">requiresNew</property>
    <property name="bpel.config.inMemoryOptimization">false</property>
    <property name="bpel.config.completionPersistPolicy">On</property>
  </component>
In this example I have all my logic in the "SyncSypplierMaster" and then I invoke the BPEL "InsertData" (with the property <property name="bpel.config.transaction">requiresNew</property>) to insert in the database. I catch the error in the "SyncSypplierMaster" BPEL where I have the "InsertData" invocation.
This works because SyncSypplierMaster" is in a different transaction.
Note: If you are inserting in multiple tables and the error is in a child table you will not catch the DB error message also. If this is your case, I recommend you to investigate what is the patch required to solve this problem.

Daniel Dias

  • Is there any blog or examples to handle the errors without using ESB tool kit.

    Hello,
    I have been trying to work with error handling since last week but I dont understand how to construct the error message. Is there any blog or examples to explain handle the errors step by step from scratch without using ESB tool kit.Can anybody help me out.
    Thanks in advance.

    You can use option 3 to construct the error message inside orchestration.
    Before using a BizTalk XML Message inside an orchestration, it must first be constructed. In fact this is just populating the message with XML. If there is an attempt to use this message before it is constructed, the above error will come. Some messages
    come pre-constructed, such as messages that originate from a send port
    There are several ways to construct a message inside an orchestration:
    Create a new message from an existing message using BizTalk map
    Assign one message to other(i.e. creating a copy of an existing message)
    Creating a message with the help of a System.XML.XMLDocument variable
    We have to first declare an orchestration variable of type XmlDocument. Then in a message assignment shape, we need to do something like this:
    myxmlDoc = new XmlDocument();
    myxmlDoc.LoadXML("<somexmlhere></somexmlhere>")
    myMsgBeingConstructed = myxmlDoc;

  • How to handle the #error in ssrs expression

    hi
    Please any one help me to resolve this #error ,
    I have a calculated filed in that expression i given a if condition like below
    data of column is coming like this 0 , 0.0
    =IIF(Fields!Column1.Value=0,0,((Fields!Column2.Value - Fields!Column1.Value)/( Fields!Column1.Value)))
    how to handle the #error
    Please let me know any one

    Hi deepuk23,
    According to your description, when you use the IIF() function in the report you got some error,right?
    The issue can be caused by the column1 and column2 have different datatype, I assumed that one is integer and another is float, when the Column1 is 0 or null,  because IIF() function always evaluates both the true part and the false part, even
    though it returns only one of them, it will throw out the error.
    To resolve the issue, you should use a nested IIF() function to avoid the zero-divisor in any rate like below:
    =IIF(Fields!Column1.Value=0,0,((Fields!Column2.Value - Fields!Column1.Value)/(IIF(Fields!Column1.Value=0,1,Fields!Column1.Value))))
    For more information, please refer to this article:
    FAQ: Why does the “Attempted to divide by zero” error still happen?
    If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.

    A few problems with this question that need clarification:
    You're using a GUI, but we have no way of knowing which one -- Swing? AWT? SWT? other?
    You ask how to fix your program flow and logic but don't show us the current state. Most of us can't read minds so a bit of code would be nice here.
    You mention "Page". What context is this in?
    A great resource that has helped me and will probably help you is an article entitled [How To Ask Questions The Smart Way|http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html] . It will tell you how to formulate your questions so that the folks here will be better able to answer them. Good luck.

    Please don't overwhelm us with so many details!
    Just off the top of my head ... as a general approach ... something like
    nohup proca
    nohup procb
    nohup procc
    while (some condition checking that all three procs are still running ... maybe a ps -ef |grep  )
    do
    sleep 2
    done
    procd
    But, we'd really need to know what it is you are really trying to accomplish, instead of your pre-conceived solution.

  • How to call a instance method without creating the instance of a class

    class ...EXCH_PRD_VERT_NN_MODEL definition
    public section.
      methods CONSTRUCTOR
        importing
          value(I_ALV_RECORDS) type ..../EXCH_VBEL_TT_ALV
          value(I_HEADER) type EDIDC .
      methods QUERY
        importing
          I_IDEX type FLAG
          i_..........
        returning
          value(R_RESULTS) type .../EXCH_VBEL_TT_ALV .
    Both methods are instance methods.
    But in my program i cannot created instance of the class unless i get the results from Query.
    I proposed that Query must be static, and once we get results we can create object of the class by pasing the result table which we get from method query.
    But i must not change the method Query to a static method.
    Is there any way out other than making method Query as static ?
    Regards.

    You can't execute any instance method without creating instance of the class.
    In your scenario, if you don't want to process your method of your class, you can check the instance has been created or not.
    Like:
    IF IT_QUERY IS NOT INITIAL.
      CRATE OBJECT O_QUERY EXPORTING......
    ENDIF.
    IF O_QUERY IS NOT INITIAL.
    CALL METHOD O_QUERY->QUERY EXPORTING....
    ENDIF.

  • How to handle the errors in transformations

    Hi
    I am using SOA, JDev 10.1.3.3.
    How to handle the exceptions in transformations.
    If any thing goes wrong in transformation then how to handle that situation.
    I am not getting any kind of instances like errored out..
    Please help me out
    Regards
    Pavankumar

    I think your issue is that your process is going into manual recovery.
    In the console click on the tab BPEL processes. There is a link on the left for manual recovery. Do you see your processes there?
    What happens if you put your transformation into a scope. The in that scope you have a catch All. In this catch All routine just do a terminate. This will error your process but you should see it appear in the console.
    cheers

  • HCM process & Forms - Need logic to handle the Error's when Infotype Update

    Hi Experts,
    Currently im working with HCM process and forms workflow's. I have ten HCM workflow's and everything is working fine.
    Now the issue is, at the time of save, if there is any error like infotype lock or any other Master data error's, then the standard task responsible for save the data, returns the Status as Error.
    Already the approval process for the request is carried out, and it can not be make it again. So I need to save the data without re execution of the process or without re-approval.
    I searched in standard workflow also. There is no option to handle the Infotype update Error's.
    So can any one give me some hint about this? Without the re-initiation i need to save the data's.
    Thanks for your time and Suggestions.

    If you are using the framework to update specific infotypes and they are locked for "no apparent" reason you'll want to open an SAP message.  I would highly discourage you from going down the path of calling that FM, from within workflow no less.  Workflow in the framework was not intended to do such operations, this is supposed to be handled in the decoupled infotype framework (through configuration)... not to mention you won't be using the dec. infty framework by calling that function.
    While I've had to do this before, it was because of a limitation in the framework not something as trivial as a locked infotype.  Who knows, it might actually be locked for a legitimate reason?

  • Getting error message - onError undefined - even though onError is handling the error

    I'm setting up a new app in CF 10, and have set up my application.cfc. I created a test page that calls onError() manually, as a test. Like the title says, I get a message saying "onError is not defined", but onError() itself is handling this error. I know this because I have it output a string to indicate that it has fired.
    Also, I'm trying to test onError() by intentionally not closing a tag and calling the page. onError() won't fire here; instead I get the standard ColdFusion error grey box.
    Any help on these is much appreciated.

    Xophe99 wrote:
    ... I believe that an instance of Application.cfc is instantiated when the application starts, else how could the event handlers listen and fire when they should?
    That is generally true. However, that is only part of a process that the ColdFusion engine does under the hood, beyond your control. However, the way to manually call a function is to use an object that is created or is available in the current page context. This brings us to the next point.
    Also, you can call Application.cfc's functions on all cfm pages via the variables scope:
    http://www.bennadel.com/blog/385-Application-cfc-Scoped-Functions-Are- Stored-In-Page-VARIABLES-Scope.htm
    That is also true. As ColdFusion stores methods in the variables scope, and practically 'includes' Application.cfc in the CFM page request, calling variables.onError() would work. So, too, would appObj.onError(), where appObj is an object created from Application.cfc.
    However, these are what you could call undocumented features. They occur by accident rather than by design. It would, for example, be inadvisable to use them in critical software.

      DATA lo_message_manager    TYPE REF TO if_wd_message_manager.
      lo_api_controller ?= wd_this->wd_get_api( ).

  • File not reached ftp : How to handle the error

    Hi,
    I am doing idoc-file scenario. I need to place file on ftp server. Now if i give incorrect ftp details, the error canot be seen in SXI_MONITOR but in Adapterframework i can see the error.
    Can someone please let me know how this exception can be handled. I need to send mail notification notifying such errors.
    Thanks & Regards
    Vani

    Hi Vani,
    XI has 2 basic engines, the Integration Engine and Adapter Engine running inside the J2EE engine.
    The reason that you can see the error in Adapter but not in SXMB_MONI is that the processing of your Integration Engine has no errors in it.
    But, when the Adapter is trying to post the file into the Destination System, it errors out and so, the error in the Adapter Framework.
    Errors in the Adapter Engine can also be used to trigger alerts and send email.
    To create Alerts, Alert Rule, just check this blog,
    /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/09/09/xi-alerts--step-by-step
    It will help you in doing your entire Alert Configuration.
    Next,from SP14 onwards, activation of end to end monitoring is not needed for Alerting. Refer to this note 870232 for this info.
    Next, to test if your Alerts have been defined correctly, go to SE38. In the program , type RSALERTTEST and then click on EXECUTE button ( F8 ). In the next window, it will ask you for your ALERTCATEGORY. Just give the name of your ALERT CATEGORY and click EXECUTE.
    If you have configured your alerts correctly, you will receive a message that tells ALERT IS GENERATED and will give the ALERT ID.
    Now, go to your Run TIme workbench and then select ALERT INBOX and see if you have got the ALERT message in your ALERT INBOX.
    If this is working fine, then the last step, implement the note 913858.
    If you are below SP14, also check this blog,
