BPM- Reciever Step

Hi,
As i receive four files from the same file server, should i create one receiver and assign a loop or create four receiver steps.
What is the difference between them?, do advise.

Hi,
As you are gettting the files from the same sender the beter option would be to have the Loop with four receivers. This is explained in the link, "Payload Dependent"
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/08/16163ff8519a06e10000000a114084/content.htm
The fork with 4 receive steps is used when you need to collect the files from Different Sending applications. Each of these would have a correspodning Receievr Determination for it.
In the case of the loop which is corretc option for you, just one Receievr Determinatin will be needed.

  • Two recieve steps to start a BPM?

Can I start a BPM with a Fork Step that has two Recieve Steps that expects messages from two different Interfaces?

    Hi,
<i>The idea is that the process must start with one message either message1 or message2 according the help the process won't go on if the two messages not arrive one after the other</i>
    >>Yes, you are right. This is because of the in Fork step properties , you are mentioning the neccessary branches 2. In this case, fork exit condition is 2 branches should execute.
In your case, you can make Neccessary branch is 1 in the fork step. SO either of one will start the process.
But in this case, fork will not wait for other message.

  • Handling Java Mapping Exception in BPM Transformation step

    Dear SDN members,
I have developed a File to File scenario using BPM as follows.
    Step 1:
Sender file adapter picks the file from FTP server and using file content conversion mapped to XML structure.
    Step 2:
BPM will recieve the XML payload , immediately in the block a transformation step is called with an interface mapping. In the interface mapping a Java mapping will be executed with certain data validations on the XML payload. If found any invalid data is there a suitable excptions will be raised . Here the transformation step should be catch the error and control should be sent to exception block to place the recived file as a error file.
else if the transformation is executed with out any issues, the file will be placed in success folder.
But in the transformation step, though java mapping thorwing exceptions, the control not going into exception block, instead it is continuing to next step i.e the file is placing in the success folder.
Can anybody tell me, how to handle the exceptions raised in java mapping in the BPM transformation step?
I have refered all the SDN blogs, forums related to this issue, but could not able to find the answer. Please help me?
    Thanks & Regards
    Vijayanand Poreddy

    Hi Abhishek,
Once the file is picked from FTP server then sent to BPM,
    the BPM steps
    Step1:
    -->Recive
    Step 2:
    Block Starts
       ---Block Start: New Transaction
       ---Block End : New Transaction
       ---Exception : Error
    Step 3
    Inside the Block
    Transformation Step
       --Interface Mapping: <IM Name>
-- Check box ticked for Create New Transcation
       -- Exceptions
          --System Error: Error
--Source Message: Message recieved in Recieve Step (Step 1)
    Step 4:
      --Send
--Source Maessage: Output message from the Transformation Step
    Block End
Inserted a Exception Branch for Block
    Steps inside Exception Branch
      -Control
        --Throw Alert
       --Alert Name
    In the above scenario
The transformation step is not throwing error even my interface mapping going to error. The same transformation step if i place outside the block next to recieve step, then the transformation step is throwing error and BPM stops the process.
Also, when transformation is inside the block, i have used the exception handling on the send step inside the block. here it is throwing error as the source message payload is empty. because in the preceding transformation step the interface mapping is failed due to which there the target will not be filled. But even though it is not entered into exception block.

  • Dynamic alert messages in BPM control step not getting created

    Hi All,
in transaction ALRTCATDEF, i have specified dynamic text for my alert category...........
in my BPM there are 3 control steps.....and i am using this alert category in all of my BPM 3 control steps..... but the alert messages in my 3 control steps are different.........But these alert messages(which i am giving in BPM) is not coming in the alert mail in alert inbox but it gives the common message in long text(which i gave in long text while defining the alert category)......
<b>So can anybody suggest me why my BPM alert message is not coming in the alert generated by BPM control step in the alert inbox of runtime workbench.</b>
    Thanks,
    Rajeev Gupta

    Hi Rajeev,
Please check if you have done the following steps:-
check the dynamic text box available in alrtcatdef transaction, while creating the alert.
In the bpm, create a variable of simple type in a container
Included the container operation and the control step.
For the container operation - give the right simple type variable container
For the control step, specify the correct alert category (this should be the one for which the dynamic text is enabled)
The alert message that you specify here should have text which will be seen when the alert raised
*To capture the dynamic alert in the alert message, which is caught by the container step in the bpm....you will have to give the name of the simple type variable
    between two ampersands(&).
"But these alert messages(which i am giving in BPM) is not coming in the alert mail in alert inbox but it gives the common message in long text(which i gave in long text while defining the alert category)......"
On checking the dynamic text option in the alert category defined, you will not have the option of giving a message in the long text. So, there is no way that the long text can be seen - 'cuz you are not defining it in the first place! Hence, either you have given the wrong alert category in the bpm or have not cheked the dynamic text option.

  • BPM Wait step!

    Friends,
I have BPM which has the FOR-EACH Block in it. After the first message processed I have to wait for atleast 5 seconds to process the next message in FOR-EACH Block. The default BPM wait step has minimum of 1 Minute. Is there any other way we can make to wait for x seconds?
    Please let me know!
    Thanks,

The minimum BPM-wait duration is 1 min and cannot be decreased below that....

  • Which driver to use in the BPM Configuration Steps?

    Hi,
I´m in the BPM configuration steps and we will use BPM on a Weblogic Server, I´m in the step when you need to create to JDBC Data Sources for the Enterprise and Directory Databases, do you know which driver shoul I use? should it be XA o Non-XA?
    Thanx in Advanced!
    Kind Regards,
    Gerardo J

Since there are no drivers, you can create your own, request one, use the Instrument I/O Assistant, or hope someone has one and posts it here. For help on creating one or requesting one, see the main Instrument Driver Network page. As long as you are familiar with the instrument and have the manual, creating a driver is not that hard.

This mapping works fine in design time.
Please let me know if you have info on this error.
    Thanks
    Katta

    Hi Mohan,
Make sure you are using same message container when you pass and try to you send information on these abstract interface references in BPM with respective to the container references or Only use Transformation in BPM if it is realy necessary with n:1 or 1:n mappings otherwise try to put the transformation outside your BPM because monitoring mapping in BPM is very hard to monitor and it is very hard to do error resolving.

  • Fork with two recieve steps

    Hi,
I have a BPM fork step with two receive steps, One is IDOC and another is ABAP proxy. both are independant steps so use a dummy correlation.
I am assuming any message that arrives should start the process. When the proxy runs it start the process and works fine.
when an IDOC arrives, its giving an error Permanent error in BPE inboud processing.
In SXMB_Moni the status is message scheduled on outbound side.
    Thanks for the answer,
    Vinay.

    Thanks for your replies.
Actually i was using BPM because bothe the messages will be transformed to target messages which are same type. So we have two transformations one for IDOc and one for Proxy.
Then we have single sender step.
I tried not to use correlation but since there are two receive steps its asking the correaltion as mandatory entry in receiver steps.
I am now going to split them into two processes each with its own process.
    thanks,
    vinay.

  • BPM SEND Steps

    HI,
Can anyone tell Maximum number of BPM SEND steps we can have?
    Regards;
    Akshay.

    Hi Ram,
Ok do one thing create a container variable. Dont use this container variable in any steps. now pt a condition at the point whr u want to check whehter the container variable in which u r receiveing the msg is not equal to this newly created container variable. If the condition is satisfed, u hv receive the msg i.e. ur container variable is not empty.

  • Recieve Step -Use Correlation and Activate Correlation

    Hi,
In Integration process-recieve step , Can any one Please explain what does the properties USE CORRELATION and ACTIVATE CORRELATION mean and where these should be defined?
    Many Thanks,
    Sharath

These are if you are going to be receiving many message into the same IP.
By default an IP is created everytime a new message is received. If you don't want this to be the case you can specify a correlation which says that if message A contains 123 and if message B contains 123 in a sepcific field then they belong in the same IP.
you define these where you define your containers you just have to toggle between the two modes.

  • 1:N split using BPM - ReceiverDetermination step

Hi, I am trying the following blog to split message using BPM.
    /people/sudharshan.aravamudan/blog/2005/12/01/illustration-of-multi-mapping-and-message-split-using-bpm-in-sap-exchange-infrastructure
    Branch 1:
A Receiver Determination step returns set of receivers configured for the outputabs interface in the directory and puts it into receiver which is a multiline container receiver element.
A send Step sends the output to the corresponding receiver that is got from the receiver element receiver.
Question:  I am stuck in reciver determination step of Fork. Please eloborate on "multiline container reciver element". How to define "receiver" and "reciver1" ?
As always, your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Look into the SAP Basis Compoenent in your IR.
Drill to the Namespace --> http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Patterns --> Go to the Integration PRocess --> Mutlicact Parrel / Sequeential and you can see a demo Integratioon process showing how to use the Receiver Determination step along with the Block to send data to each of the receivers.
Define a Conatiner Element of type Receivers . This should be a mutliline element.
In the receiver determination step , use this container element against the Receivers field.
Now, in your Block , select the for each / par for each element as this Receiver. You will also need to create another Element for the Recieve type and use this against the current line in the block.

  • BPM send step not executed in BPM (after Message split)

    Hello everybody,
    we use BPM:
We have a paralell Block which should send the rows of a multiline element. In SXMB_BPE_MONI the send step is not executed?
    Any idea?
    Thanks  lot, regards Mario

    HI,
Go to SXMB_MONI_BPE->and check the workflow log (technical details).and go to SXI_CACHE and check the return code of the Integration Process. It should be zero. If not try to activate the same
If there is no error then go with like this-
Also check the Syntax in Integration Repository with F7. Change the IP and activate it. If there is no syntax errors.
Then reimport the IP into Directory and then test your scenario

  • Error Handling in BPM - Send Step

    Hello,
I would like to implement the following two error handlers using BPM:
    1. There is a send step which sends a message to an HTTP receiver. If the HTTP server is down I would like to add 3 retries and just in case after the third retry fails there should be an error Email sent. So I am wondering whether a communication error (which happens in the HTTP receiver communication channel) is delivered back to the process engine so that it can be handled using BPM.
    2. I also need to apply a validation using XML schema. So if validation fails the error should also be returned to the process engine so that it can be handled in the integration process.
Are those two requirement possible as described (returning communication and validation errors)? Or do I have to follow another approach?
    Thank you very much!

    Hi Florian,
    >>2. When I activate transport acknowledgement and there is an error in XML validation outbound channel request I get an system error acknowledgement back however the error branch is NOT taken either!
Correct send step using transport acknowledgment will check whether the message was transmitted or not
    Check this link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/EN/43/65ce41ae343e2be10000000a1553f6/content.htm
    >>3. And NOW it gets interesting: When I simulate step 2 again an cancel the error message afterwards then the error branch is taken! Not very useful in my opinion if error messages have to be canceled first. The error branch seems to be pretty useless for me in case of asynchronous send steps.
Again when you cancelled the message it was not received successfully by the receiver system and hence it raised exception (as mentioned in the Exception of send step.)
I will suggest you to try using Application Acknowledgment in send step. Also If you provide the steps of BPM then it will be more helpful.
Also have a look at this :
Asynchronous send step can raise exception only when
    1. Thrown when a permanent system error occurs:
    a. In the case of an asynchronous send step, the exception will only be triggered if an error occurs during the transfer to the pipeline. Errors that occur during mapping in the pipeline, do not trigger an exception.
b . In the case of a synchronous send step, the exception is also triggered by permanent system errors that occur in the pipeline or while transporting the message to or from the pipeline.
