BPM scenario  using JDBC and acknowledgement

hello
i have the foll. requirement-
mine is a File->JDBC-> File scenario using ack.(BPM is used)
a file is placed. the content of the file is used to select certain data from the JDBC.
The response from JDBC consists of multiple rows, each of has only one field-Name(occurrence 0..1).
This response needs to be mapped to a file.(let us say mapping1)
My problem is, I need to get the number of times the name field is absent from the response(rows) and use the value in another mapping(let us say mapping2)) which is used in sending the acknowledgement.This implies that the acknowledgement data consists of the number of time the name was absent from teh response.
i thought of using a global variable in mapping1.However we cant refer to this global variable in mapping2.
Also in case i use a container element in switch in IP, there is no function to check if a certain field is absent or not.
please help.

Hi,
In the BPM say you receive message M1 on which you need to perform the counting
Then in the mapping2 you include this message on the source side alongwith the main source message
In this mapping itself check for the occurence /  non-occurence of the node in message M1 and count it.
Then assign it to the required element in the target....you will have two source and one target messages in the mapping2.....
Make sure that your message M1 is not chaanged till it reaches mapping2......i.e. M1 --> transformation --> M1 (with some other data format in the same structure)....it will work.
Also in case i use a container element in switch in IP, there is no function to check if a certain field is absent or not.
you can check the existence of a field in the Switch block:
For XI:
Include a Switch Block --> Click on the condition section of the switch --> select the Xpath of the element from the desired message --> Click Ok --> Then select the Right Operand in the Condition Editor as EX --> Click OK
For eg: p1:EmpData/FirstNam EX........it will execute the IF branch if FirstName field exists
For PI7.1:

  • BPM for error handling and acknowledgements

    Hi,
    Can any one tell me how to handle BPM for error handling and acknowledgements in one scenario.
    Please send me the link if you have other wise give me the solution on the same.
    Thanks,
    Nagesh

    Hi !
    Just check out these links This might help you.
    Usually Application Level Acknowledgement is considered during Sync communication. If you are using RFC, you can make use of Sync communication. So you can handle it without bpm, provided your both sender and receiver are sync interfaces.
    To know about Ack-
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/f4/8620c6b58c422c960c53f3ed71b432/content.htm
    you can not dirrectly access the content of the ACK, however the BPM shows different behaviours based on the ACK status. E.g. if the ACK contains a success message the BPM will continue in its normal process, if the ACK contains a permanent error, it will either stop or go through an exception branch (provided such a branch has been defined). Have a look at the documentation: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/43/65ce41ae343e2be10000000a1553f6/content.htm It doesnt"t state the above mentioned behaviour in detail but says that you need to define an exception branch.
    The trickiest part is always to find out, when you will get a transient vs. as permanent error ack. If you are using ACKs with Proxies refer also to this link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/29/345d3b7c32a527e10000000a114084/content.htm and this http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/f4/8620c6b58c422c960c53f3ed71b432/content.htm

    Hi Experts,
                       I have read many blogs regarding Integrating XI using WebService, SOAP, HTTP  for many scenarios but I am still confused and no blogs were clearly saying about the end to end scenario what happens where and how?
    My question is could any one please please please explain me why we are using Webservice if you explain me with an CREDIT CHECK scenario using XI and Webservice that would be very fare.

  • Error using JDBC and DB2 - Please help

    Hi, I need some help solving this problem. I ran the same program at my university and it worked. At home I am using TomCat4 and j2sdk1.4.1. I want to connect to the IBM DB2 Universal database personal edition v7. The program compiles, but when I run it, it says it can't find
    com.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver. The class path was automatically updated when I installed DB2. What could the problem be? Please help because I really need to use this. Thank you.
    Marianne.
    This is my program:
    import java.io.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    class testDB {
    public static void main(String argv[]) {
    try {
    // load driver and connect to database
    Class.forName("com.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver");
    String url = "jdbc:db2:test";
              String userid = "the database name"; // blanked out
              String password = "my password";
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection(url, userid, password);
    // an SQL retrieval getting all rows in table
    Statement stmt = con.createStatement();
    String SQLStatement = "SELECT issueID, stock FROM test.issue ORDER BY issueID";
    String theIssueId;
    int theStock;
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery(SQLStatement);
         // loop to step through each row of result set
         while (rs.next()) {
    theIssueId= rs.getString("issueID");
    theStock = rs.getInt("stock");
    System.out.println(theIssueId + " : " + theStock);
    // tidy up
    rs.close();
    stmt.close();
    con.close();
    } catch( Exception e ) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    }

    Try add path C:\Program Files\SQLLIB\java\db2java.zip to classpath.

  • Help setting Parameters using JDBC and Bind Variables for Oracle List

    I fully understand the concept of using Bind Variables when using JDBC to avoid hard parses everytime my SQL statement is executed when only a certain value changes. For example, perhaps I have the following statement:
    PreparedStatement ps = con.prepareStatement("select salary from employees where employee_id = ?");
    I would then set the value of the question mark (the first and in this case only parameter) using:
    ps.getStmt().setString(1,empId1);
    That is assuming I have the variable empId1 populated with what I want. Anyway, my question has to do with Oracle lists. In other words, if I am just executing the statement against the db, it might look like:
    select salary from employees where employee_id in ('123','456','789');
    I still want to use bind variables and I can do it in JDBC with something like:
    select salary from employees where employee_id in ('123','456','789');
    ps.getStmt().setString(1,empId1);
    ps.getStmt().setString(2,empId2);
    ps.getStmt().setString(3,empId3);
    BUT, what if I just want to construct my list of ids upfront as a string and do something like:
    select salary from employees where employee_id in (?)
    ps.getStmt().setString(1,listOfEmpIds);where listOfEmpIds would look something like '123','456','789'.
    That's what I want to do but it doesn't work. It would be treating the list as a single parameter as opposed to lots of individual parameters. Can someone please tell me the syntax for this if it is possible? I have tried where XX in (?) and where XX in ? (and the string I substitute has the parenthesis in it), but neither work.
    Thank you for your help.

    I always build the list myself.
    You could, however, pass the list as a varchar to a stored proc and then have the stored proc parse (or dynamically execute) using it.
    The second method might even be faster although I would suspect that is only going to be the case if the list is very large. Or it might not.

    If all the tables are in the same database, you can use
    Connection.setCatalog("db-name")
    to change the current database. But the suggestion to include the database name in the SQL statement is safer, because you do not need to worry about changing the database at the right point.

  • Can I supress BPM for Asyn outbound and syn inbound proxy interface

    Hi all,
    Is there any other alternate to remove the BPM at asyn outbound and syn inbound proxy interface. Reason because I can create another outbound proxy interface at the receiver. But at receiver side we already invested huge code to develop the sync server proxy. So the intension is, with out disturbing the code Can I make the message flow with out BPM?
    Because the reason of removing BPM is for a simple interface like this I don't want to use BPM. souce is JDBC and receiver is ECC 6.0. I know with out BPM it can not be achieved but in PI 7.1 EHP 1 by any chance can we do?
    I mean during response mapping from server proxy shall we use look up function to achieve?

    Yes
    I mean is it is limited to JMS adapter?
    No

  • Using JDBC with Oracle

    I have just completed compiling and running a simple UI through a java command line interface, however part of my program is running into a problem. I have to connect to Oracle through JDBC, but the server I am not on does not have the oracle drivers. I have copied them over (in tar as distributed) but I have never had to extern any thing like this. I am running on a standard linux bash prompt and need to know what to do to actually change everything so my program can run the database connectivity.
    Simply put, is there a way to compile so the byte code never needs the .jar, and if not how about making my program see the jar which is in my root folder (not root on the server, but my user root folder)
    I hope that was enough info, if not I'll do my best to provide more.

    Hmm, maybe I'm not quite making sense.
    Let's say I want to run my program on my neighbor's machine (A) to connect to an Oracle database on my machine (B). My neighbor has Java version 1.4.2, and my machine has Java version 1.4.2 also. My oracle database is running Oracle 8i (8.1.6.0.0) my machine. Let us also assume that my neighbor, while desiring a program to connect to my database, wants everything to be included in a single directory and no global system settings to be permananty changed. He doesn't mind if I change setting for the current session if need be.
    Now, I make the Java program on my machine and it works just fine. Since I have Oracle installed on my machine the command "java dbConnect" has no problem running. Now I take the program over to my neighbor's computer with the following files in the current program directory (not the java installation directory):
    dbConnect
    ojdbc14.jar
    This I hope would allow me to run the program since I thought (in error) that the program would probably be able to find the ojdbc14.jar since it is in the directory of the dbConnect program. Unfortunately it runs correctly, then fails to load the oracle driver.
    So now here is my real question. I want to be able to have my neighbor run my application, so what do I do to run the application dbConnect.java on their computer?
    I have tried the following, however it gives an exception in the thread when I run this
    javac dbConnect.java
    java -classpath ./ojdbc14.jar dbConnect
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: dbConnect.The program right now is simply a test to see if I can load the driver and make a connection, and it works on my system, so there should be no problems:
    import java.io.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    public class dbConnect
        //Create an input stream for reading data from the user
        private static BufferedReader stdin =
            new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
        public static void main(String[] args)
            try{
                //>Load the Oracle JDBC Drivers
                try
                    Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
                catch(Exception e)
                    System.out.println("Failed to load Oracle driver.");
                    System.exit(0);
                //>Get username, password, and url for Oracle DB connection.
                String user, pass, url;
                System.out.println("Please enter your username: ");
                user = stdin.readLine();
                System.out.println("Please enter your password: ");
                pass = stdin.readLine();
                url = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@somewhere:1521:csl";
                Connection conn = null;
                Statement stmt = null;
                //>Successfully connect to the Oracle database using JDBC and CSLab account.
                try
                    conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url, user, pass);
                    System.out.println("Connection made!");
                catch(Exception e)
                    System.out.println("Incorrect login information.");
                    System.exit(0);
            }catch(Exception e){
                System.out.println("Exception in main program.  Terminating process.");

  • Query resultset to xml using java and XML schema

    Hi,
    I query data using JDBC and I want to store it to an XML file which has a well defined XML schema. I searched a lot in the forum but did not find an answer. Please guide me to create this program.
    I have managed to use JDBC to get result set but I do not know how to export is to XML using XSD and Java.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Ravi

    I have managed to use JDBC to get result set but I do
    not know how to export is to XML using XSD and Java.Export using XSD? Schemas are for validation.
    Iterate through the result set, and build up the XML stream by creating an entry for each row.
    Another way to do it is to load the ResultSet into a Java object and serialize that to XML using something like XStream.

  • Handling million rows using jdbc

    approximately how much time would it take to use jdbc and do a simple data import from an oracle database having 500 million rows?

    Without a lot more information my answer would be too long.
    It is likely that something is wrong with the design of a project if it involves bring 500 million records into a running java application.
    Using a 1000 byte record size it would take 19 hours just to move the data over a 100mbit ethernet connection.

  • How do u automatically generate a primary key using JDBC?

    ok, basically i'm given a simple schema
    with 5 fields, one of these are made as a constraint made for primary keys.
    I am programming under Oracle, using JDBC, and everytime i insert a new record into the table using an INSERT statement it says it cant make the id null, well yeah, then how exactly do i make it generate a new ID?
    Thanks guys.

    In the table schema, the cid field is a INTEGER
    type.
    Ok i must of accidentally typed an extra digit, it's
    working now hmmm but i'm starting from this digit now
    : 1000000016
    If i go more higher and it truncates again, is there
    anyway to fix that?No. You can however write your code to verify it.
    Noting of course that the problem will next occur after 1 billion records have been added. So I would question at what rate you think that that table is going to grow.
    Of course you could create your own id but that would require modifying the table.
