BPM start scenario
Hi there,
I have a BPM for a Leave request process which is working fine.
For triggering the BPM I would like to have the following scenario:
1. User has a link "Leave request" on our Intranet page (no SAP portal) to trigger the BPM
2. The user is directly forwarded to the first WebDynpro "Fill leave request" of the BPM (without navigating through UWL).
How can I achieve that?
I've successfully started the BPM from WebDynpro, but that doesn't really help.
Thanks in advance!
Hi John, so you mean, I should take out the first Web Dynpro of the BPM (Fill leave request) and trigger the remaining BPM when pushing the submit button?
Sounds ok, but on the other hand I take out an important step of my BPM.
I think it would be better that a BPM always reflects the whole process with all activities included.
Is there any other solution for this.

Blogg RFC scenario using BPM - starter kit (more detail on BPM required)
I follow this blog to the letter - because it is the same as my scenario:
/people/arpit.seth/blog/2005/06/27/rfc-scenario-using-bpm--starter-kit
The problem is I have no experience with BPM. I have setup the Integration process as I think it should be but I get an error.
Could one of you experts go through the BPM steps in more detail? Screen shots/details of the properties and containers on each step would be very useful. Thanks.Hi Lynn!!

BPM Collect Scenario errors at transform stage
The BPM Collect scenario is using a Fork within a Block.
Branch 1 - Loop Receive Append Container Endloop
Branch 2 - Receive step of triggerIdoc
End of Block
Transform step - multiline container of XML documents to one XML document
Send step
BPM Errors at Transform step with JCo mapping not available.
Whilst BPM in Error (Workflow in Error) more messages being received but never processed as the RECEIVE event is "lost" for these messages.
We are looking at redesigning the BPM to reduce the likelihood of this transform error.
In the meantime was looking at ways to Alert the administrator straight away to the error. As we have a workaround to get the process going and to pick up the stranded messages. So have started setting up the ALERT categories as described in How to Guide, for Adapter and Interface. Will this work?
Also in the Transform step there is a box (system exception) but I can't enter anything in. Is there a way to do this if the Alert category doesn't report an error in the BPM. OR do I have to add the Transform step into a Block of its own?
Advice gratefully received if we come up with a working solution will post it out here. Have spent a large amount of time reading posts and blogs on here but have not got a clear picture yet of what is best to do.
thanks,> Whilst BPM in Error (Workflow in Error) more messages

This should give you an issue called Parked Messages. The best way to deal with this is to actually define a Local Correlation. In the Block Step properties, you will have an option, Use Correlation --> Give the name of the Correlation . This will make sure that when there is an error, the Correlation become inactiva and a new BPM instance is created.

Not sure if this will work. The issue is that the messages are passed to the IE already and will be in wait step waiting for an active BPM 's receive step How will another interface pick up this message?

This is what is called exception handler. Defined a Exception handler for the Block. Right Click block, insert Exception Branch, give name of the Hanler and then you can select this in the Transformation Step's System Error. This is like Try - Catch of Java.

BPM startting with two IDoc Types
Hi All!!
I have designed a BPM starting with two IDocs (MATMAS05 y CLFMAS02). Is designed with two start process in a switch. When one comes, wait a minute for the other. I'm not sure what IDoc comes first to the process, the I can lose data.
Somebody has any idea tto encapsulate the infornmation of the 2 IDocs without a ZIDoc?
Thanks and regards,

How to use objects from other SWCs in my BPM Integration Scenario
Dear all,
I am experiencing some difficulties with the following. I have created a BPM Integration Scenario in a SWC. It contains a tranformation step in which a message from that SWC is split and mapped to two IDOCs. These IDOCs are imported in anothern SWC which I use for common objects. I have created Abstract Message Interfaces based on these IDOCs in this "COMMON" SWC, but the probIem is that I cannot use them in my scenario in the other SWC. Even though I have a usage dependency (Installation Time) created to the "COMMON" SWC.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!
Thanks in advance.
Will happily provide points for good answers.
AukeThus, I would have to copy/import all objects to the same SWC?
Or create a separate SWC for BPM Integration scenarios?
I have tried to create the Abstract Message Interface in the SWC and reference it to the IDOC structure in the "COMMON" SWC. This results in a reference to an invalid object during activation. Even though the defined usage dependency.
What's the standard solution?
Cheers,
Auke

HTTP-RFC(BPM)-FILE Scenario
I have a problem on using the 'http-RFC(BPM)-File scenario'. When i enter values using the Client http adapter, it displays message telling that "BPE_ADDAPTER.SYNCHONOUS_MESSAGE"
The error msg is displayed below:
Result:
<SAP:Error>
<SAP:Category>XIAdapter</SAP:Category>
<SAP:Code>BPE_ADAPTER.SYNCHONOUS_MESSAGE</SAP:Code>
<SAP:Stack>The process does not support the given synchronous interface or does not support synchronous messages</SAP:Stack>
</SAP:Error>
Also in SAP XI monitor, the sender services along with the corresponding sender interfaces.
Expecting this prob will be off soon.
thanks
vinod vHi Vinod,
your process is asynchronous (no sync async bridge). But you send "Quality of Service = Best Effort" (Url paramater qos=BE). You should send "Exactly Once" (EO).

Hi All,
Could you please provide some sample BPM webservice scenario for the Approval process?
Actually, don't want to get top to bottom info. for this request, prefer to have just layout info.

I need help in executing the odi start scenario command.
We have around 100 scenarios to be executed thru an external framework. I am trying to create a generic scenario which can used to trigger the 100 scenarios dynamically using a variable so that, at run time i can pass the scenario names one after the other.. This is the command:
OdiStartScen -SCEN_NAME=#SCN_NAME -SCEN_VERSION=001
OdiStartScen "-SCEN_NAME=#SCN_NAME" -SCEN_VERSION=001
Both these versions did not work for me.Hi,
You need call a specific version or the last version? If you need the last, try -SCEN_VERSION=-1 . -1 indicates to agente to be use a last version avalaible.

ODI, can't start scenario running in different machines
Hello All
Well i am working in a consulting proyect where I need ODI and BPEL to connect each other.
I have installed Oracle SOA Suite for weblogic 9.2 in a machine with ip 192.168.1.108
I have installed ODI as a server in another machine ip 192.168.1.109
I have installed Oracle Data Base in the of ODI 192.168.1.109
Then I installed ODI CLIENT in my laptop (i mean, the topology manager, designer, operator all in my laptop)
I have made a simple example where i created a "interface in odi" using ODI designer and the a package in which a call a bpel process and it works fine
Now i need to create a bpel process to call a ODI SCENARIO...but i am stock in it.
I have done the following:
1. I deployed the AXIS2 webservice and it's working ok.
2. I have started and ODI agent and I tested it using the topology manager and it is OK
3. I created and deployed a bpel process to call the ODI scenario
When i execute the instance of bpel, i get the following error in the AGENT (which is running in the same machine where ODI SERVER is installed 192.168.1.109)

I have tested the connection to the schemas/user of the database (ODIMASTER and ODIWORK repositories) and it's OK
I am kind of new using ODI, but i have made the same TEST in a Virtual Machine installed in my laptop, where i use a Express Edtion Database, a BPEL console, and ODI CLIENTE (everything local) and all the tests works ok.
1. Call a bpel web service from ODI ....OK
2. Call a ODI scenario from BPEL using the AXIS2 web service ....OK
3. start an scenario using the msdos console STARTSCEN ....OK
I also checked that the SNP_REM_REP and SNP_LOC_REPW columns are the same in the master and work repositories, but it's OK
What could be my problem?
I think i can be related to the MASTER and WORK repositories, but i don't know what more could i check
Thanks in advanceIt was a mistake with the parameters using the ODIparams.sh

RFC Scenario using BPM -- Starter Kit
Krishna,
I awarded points for my last line of questioning for 2 reasons.
1) I think you're right about the Pipline URL
2) I appreciate your help
Where can I find my pipline URL?
I looked in the profile directory and found one of the files with: icm/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP,PORT=80$$.
That's telling me 8000.... right?
Also... which ICF server will I probably have to restart?
Doug -Hi,
Yeah..profile looks fine. After changing pipeline url, did you test the scenario?
If not check it once.
Regd. http service, you have checked correct one..anyway for this you can refer this configuration guide- section 8.1 if required- to know more
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/ac6de690-0201-0010-54ac-8923089dcc97
Anyway first test it , hope it works.

We have scenario(file to file) where we get multiple files and is merged using BPM, transformed and sent to the receiver. We have file This is a time based collection. Incoming file adapter is set to poll every 30 sec, and the block in BPM timeout in 2 mins ( for testing purpose).
The BPM receive step (inside the loop) has the start process turned on. The expected behaviour was to receive all files in one instance of BPM and send the merged one out.
It is spawning the multiple BPM instance based on number of files in the sender file adapter. My guess is it is doing this since we have the start process on receive step and for each receive it is starting a new process. How do we eliminate this to have only one instance start as I am not finding any other step prior to receive ( block , and loop) where I can start the process.
Any help is appericiated.
Thanks,
Samir1. If you want to merge the same file format , Use "Loop" step before "Recevie" step. Put some deadline branch , which will ensure your time limit.
This would resolve your problem.
2. If you want to merge different file format , you need to have multiple "Receive" steps and for that you need to use the "Fork" step.
Let me know if you still find any problem.
Thanks & Regards,

Process sequence in File - XI/BPM - File scenario
how does QOS works within BPM, Since some processes may take time to process for whatever reasons ( due to some delays ).
I'm planning to develop a scenario like this.
I have 7 files which have same Batch number as part of File name which Iam planning to use as Correlation in BPM.
File 1 starts BPM.
Within BPM, all other 6 files will be received and sent out.
Then File 1 should be sent
Then I need to make SOAP call to trigger event on the 3rd party application.
My question is
If I use EOIO as QOS on the Sender file adapters, how does the process works in the following situations.
File 1 - Batch 1 arrives - BPM process 1 starts
File2 - batch 1 arrives - BPM process receivs and sends message
BPM here still waiting to receive files
File 1 - batch 2 arrives - BPM Process 2 starts
All other files . Since all files arrived, all files will be be received and sent out in BPM.
Now question is
BPM Process 1 is still waiting for other files to arrive and BPM process 2 is completed ( Are files will be waiting in Queue here ???)
Does writing of the files on the receiver side will be postponed until queue receives the files from BPM process 1 since I sued QOS as EOIO for all files ?
Would someone please clarify this please.Hi,
In this blog, I have used Business <b>Service</b> created in the integration directory.. This is an abstract . So I need to specify , the Sender and Receiver Interfaces explicitly in the business service. and it doesnot have any entry in the SLD.
But if you create the Business System in the SLD and if you import that into the Integration Directory-->Assign this into your configurations scenario, then this step is not required.
Regd. Importing Integration Process- BPM is kind of Abstract Service.. i.e BPM is acting as a Receiver Service and Sender service both..
i,e Source to BPM ( here BPM is a Receiver)
BPM to Target( here BPM is a Sender Service)
Hope this clarifies..

My IP is very simple with just a 'recv step' having container element of type si_aa_iorder and 'send step' having container element of type si_aa_file to start with..i haven't yet put the switch control etc...even such simple IP fails....
I have created Configuration objects like
Business System for file receiver
Business component for Idoc sender with adapter specific details set

2 Receiver determinations between BC_idoc_send to IP and other from IP to FileRecv system
2 interface determinations , one from si_oa_iorder of BC_idoc_send to IP and other from si_aa_file of IP to file recv system.
This is my setup and this fails....
My question is..is my message mapping and operation mappings correct? and can u see any obvious blunders i am doing?
please bear in mind that with same interfaces and sending and recv components, it runs fine without BPM....so please look at the BPM bit of mappings/config that i might have missed and please advice asap..

JhansiFirstly, you said you are not using any Switch, then how are you specifying the condition ?
Secondly, your interface is not dependent on the BPM, its dependent on the configuration. BPM is a representation on how the interface works in step-by-step manner.
So, while checking the condition order type = 'PM01', you must be using the Switch, i believe, which has to options Branch1 and Branch Oherwise. Branch1 means when the condition is TRUE and BranchOtherwise is when condition is FALSE.
