Branching to a page from a SELECT LIST
Simple question again ! I have a SELECT LIST, and have set up a static LOV with a couple of report names. If a report name is clicked from the list, I want to go to a particular page. I am assuming I need to put a RETURN VALUE in the static LOV, but can't find the syntax to put a branch to a new page in there. Can anyone help ? thanks
p.s does anyone know a good starting book ???
OK
You have two report pages - we'll say that they are on Page 11 and Page 12. You want the users to select a report from a select list on Page 10.
So - You have an item on a page called "P10_REPORT" that is a "Select List with Submit". The LOV of this field is a static LOV with a source of "STATIC:Report1;11,Report2;12".
You then have an unconditional branch for Page 10. The Branch Action Page value would then be set to #P10_REPORT#. You do not need to explicitly set the page number - you can use #FIELDNAME# substitutions. Therefore, when the user selects a report, the value of P10_REPORT will be either 11 or 12. The action of selecting the report will submit the page and #P10_REPORT# will be translated to the value in the LOV for the report that the user has picked. This is then used as the page to branch to.

How to go to a certain page based on user's selection from a select list
On the very first page of my application, I have one item - a select list. Based on what they select from the list, how do I go to the corresponding page? For instance, if the user selects 'Metal', how do I go to the Metal page?
Hello,
Assuming the answer to Sergio is "yes"
First, you should make sure that the returned value from your select list is the corresponding page number or page alias for the user selection. Using your terms "Metal" should return the page number/alias of the page where you want to implement "Metal".
Then, on your first page, you can define a "Branch to Page Identify by Item". The parameter should be your select item name.

Condition that checks the value of an Item derived from a select list
I want to conditionally display and hide items in a region based on a select list item.
Some items will display when the select list is at the default (%null%) and others will be displayed when the select list user selects from the select list.
The display is then updated when the "SAVE" button is pressed and the page processed.
How do I test the select list item to be null. The condition looks like this;
Type: PL/SQL Expression
:P1_SELECT is null
I also tried, :P1_SELECT is not null and :P1_SELECT = '%nul%'.
The latter changed the condition to :P1_SELECT = ''
How can I test the valu in P1_SELECT?

After a long day I saw that I did not write the condition correctly. Mea culpa.
slavanawayI had the problem wrong.
The issue was a second field that could have a Y or N or null. When I checked it in PL/SQL expression as
:P_YN != 'Y' and :P_SELECT is null
assuming the null condition would resolve as != 'Y' I had to do an explicit check as
(:P_YN != 'Y' or :P_YN is null) and :P_SELECT is null
That fixed it.... I like null and I hate null

I deleted a page from my reading list. Is there an "Undo" feature?
This is not about typing, but undo an action I performed. I deleted the wrong page from the reading list. Can I undo that?
No. There is no undo for that.

Print Button Derived From a Select List Is Not Working
Hello,
I followed the instructions "Creating a PDF Report from Derived Output Format" http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/apex/apex31nf/apex31rpt.htm#t2
Steps
In order to derive the output format, you need to create an item that contains the list of formats to select from. Perform the following steps:
1. Under Items, click the Create icon.
2. Click Select List.
3. Make sure Select List is selected for Select List Control Type and click Next.
4. Change the Name to P<#>OUTPUTLIST and click Next.
5. You need to specify the list of output types for the report and the bottom of the page. Select the Create or edit static List of Values
6. Enter the following values and click Apply.
Display Value Return Value
PDF PDF
Word RTF
Excel XLS
HTML HTM
XML XML
7. Select No for Display Null Option and Click Next.
8. Change the Label to Output Format and click Next.
9. Enter PDF for the Default and click Create Item.
10. Now that the list of output formats is created, you need to change the Output Format when the Print link is selected. Under Regions, select the Print link.
11. Under Printing, select Derive from Item for Output Format and select the item you just created P<#>OUTPUTLIST for Item and click Apply Changes.
12. Click Run Page.
13. When the report is displayed, select Excel from the list of Output Formats. Note: In Oracle Application Express 3.1, the XML format was added
14. At the bottom of the report, select the Print link.
15. A window appears asking you which program you want to open the Excel file with. Click OK (or Open depending on what browser you have) . Excel is open and the report is displayed. Close the Excel window.
16. You can also create a button to produce the report based on the output format rather than clicking the Print link at the bottom of the report. Click Edit Page.
17. Under Buttons, click the Create icon.
18. Accept the default and click Next
19. Select Create a button displayed among this region's items and click Next
20. Enter P<#>_Print for the Button Name, enter Print for the Label and Request and select HTML Button for Button Style. Then click Create Button
21. The region printing link contains the id of the region. Since you want to invoke the print from a button instead of the link you need to create a branch and specify the FLOW_XMLP_OUTPUT_R### parameter in the Request field for the Action so the application knows what to do when the Print button is pressed. Under Regions, select the Print link.
22. Ctrl-C the FLOW_XMLP_OUTPUT_R### section of the Print URL field. Since you are going to invoke the print from the button, you can remove the Print in the Label Link field and click Apply Changes.
23. Under Branches, select the Create icon.
24. Accept the default and click Next
25. Enter the current page for the Page and paste the FLOW_XMLP_OUTPUT_R### parameter that you copied into the Request field and click Next.
26. Select P<#>_PRINT for When Button Pressed and click Create Branch
27. Click Run Page
28. Select XML for the Output Format and click Print.
If I use the link at the bottom of the report region when I set the print options on the print tab of a report, it will print out in both pdf and rtf formats. I get an error with the Excel format. The print button isn't even working. When I select the button, nothing happens.
Any help is appreciated.Hello Andy,
I ended up putting in a ticket with Metalink. It is a known bug it seems. This is what the rep said:
UPDATE
=======
These bugs are fixed in the next ApEx patch 3.1.2. Patch 3.1.2 is expected (tentatively) in 2 weeks at the
earliest.
The bug fixes for these bugs have been backported to 3.1.1 and the one-off patches (patch 7202883 & 7156139) can be downloaded from metalink. One-of
f patches do not undergo the normal full regression testing, as is done for the
full APEX 3.1.2 patch set.
Once 7202883 and 7156139 were applied, I was able to download in all formats.

Need to create an edit Page from a Multiselect List
I make one or more selections of values from a Multiselect List; I need to branch to another page in which I display all of the selected List items and two other columns (per item) that can be edited; i.e., this second page will look like one or more rows consisting of (1) List item, (2) value1 from a Table, (3) value2 from a Table. I need to be able to change value1 and/or value2 for any or all of the rows and have those changes reflected in the Database. (The List item is display only).
My question is: which construction wizard can I use for this second page? I can collect my List items in a PL/SQL Table, but how can I display them and their related columns so the column values are editable? Thanks for the reply. I understand how to create Collections with the values I need to display and modify; however, I'm unsure which construction Wizard to employ to launch the Page ("Form based upon a Procedure", etc.)
I looked in the Tutorials for a "collection demo" and found these potential candidates: "Build an Issue Tracking System", "Create a Simple Survey Application", and "Serving Application Express Reports". Is it one of these? If not, please tell me where I can find the "collection demo". Thanks. -
Display all records from 4 select list
Hi,
trying to associate 4 select list where i could display all records from a list linked to an other list.
1./ Created an item for each select list
P1_employee_name
P1_departments
P1_employee_type
P1_locations
2./Set both null and default values to '-1' for each item
3./Associated these items to source columns in the Region:
where employee_name=:P1_employee_name
or :P1_employee_name ='-1'
and departments=:P1_departments
or :P1_departments ='-1'
and ......
When running the report, couldn't display all records from a given list associated to an other list.
e.g: Display all emp and type of emp for sales dept in Paris.
Thks for your helpI believe the issue is that you need to group your predicates such as:
where (employee_name=:P1_employee_name
or :P1_employee_name ='-1')
and
(departments=:P1_departments
or :P1_departments ='-1')
Also, if you are not already using the "select list with submit" type items, these work great for this case as the page will be submitted when the user changes the value of employeenam and the report will then reflect this change. -

Edited by: Vedant on Apr 25, 2012 11:14 PMShort answer, use the apex_util.string_to_table to convert to a table; then you can either iterate through the table to generate a string of names, or accomplish the same with a bulk operation.

Updating a table with the data from the select list
I have 2 select lists on a page...first select list displays vendor no and vendor name from the table vendor (vendor_no, vendor_name, address, city, state, zip, ph no)
second list displays contact no and contact name from the table contact (contact_no, contact_name, email_addrs)
i have a submit button...once it is clicked the vendor_no from the first list and the contact_no from the second list must be inserted into the third table vendor_contact (vendor_contact_no, contact_no, vendor_no) and also there must be a condition to check if the entry already exists or not...can any one tell me how this can be done...Why not design your page just on your third table (vendor_contact), and those fields (which will already be defined as part of that table) can be defined there as your select lists. Then make sure you have a Primary Key (or Unique Key) defined on the table to prevent duplicates.
It makes for a much cleaner looking page, and far easier to implement as well.
Hope this made sense and helps.

Security Questions from a Select List or Drop down Service Provider Edition

Can we fetch security questions from the drop down or a select list in Service Provider Edition. We have a requirement to select multiple security questions during registration.
Please advise.

Welcome to the Forum...
You cannot put all the values in a single parameter field so you need to select each field for each parameter...

Javascript alert from a select list
I have a select list that will show on one of the options "sold out" if this is chosen and submitted i want a alert so say " sorry sold out"
can this be done and if so how
thanks for any adviseSuch a script would best be installed on the target page for that particular item on the select list.
May I suggest a more elegant notification such as one on Nancy's site.

If you are satisfied with just an alert, see here:

How to store the return value from a select list in page item ?
I'm sorry, I'm sure you will all flame me for this (and its long too :-(. I'm still trying to pick this up and havn't had time to read manual and this forum and up against the clock (as usual), but this must be something thats simple to do, otherwise why have 2 cols on LOV (display text and return value.
normal kind of thing - master /detail, a master table and a detail table, master.id is PK in master, master.name is the name of the master item. detail.id is pk in detail, detail.mid is foreign key to master.id. I have a tabular report that displays a join of cols from master and detail, with 2 cols being links, one is a link on master.name, that passes master.id to page P1 and it displays a row from master. The other col displays detail.name and passes detail.id to page P3, P3 displays a row of the detail table.
I want to populate a LOV with possible master.name values, but display the name of the current P3_MID value (from detail.mid). Then a user can pick a different master and it needs to update P3_MID so on submit it updates the row.
I just can't seem to see in the manual how you can specify where the return value on a LOV goes?
As I said, sorry for long post and not having had time to read docs correctly - someone just point me at the subject matter somewhere, please.Sorry, I was trying to be to complex and obviously APEX is just too damn cleaver - I figured out how this works - basically APEX pulls the LOV and then matchs the mid to it to display the correct name - simple and easy - just me making it difficult

Is there a way to have firefox save web pages from a batch list of urls
Is there a plugin for firefox to load urls from a list and save the pages including images to file
I'm not aware of such an add-on, but it might exist. There also might be a Greasemonkey userscript that will load the pages and fire the save.
This thread discusses way to save pages once you have them loaded: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/923234 How to save a website using firefox. | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help]. -
Preferred vendor not being copied from the selection list of F4 --- Shop
Hi SRM Gurus,
When we are creating a shopping cart with the sources of supply, preferred list of vendors is displayed when we click the icon next to the preferred vendor in the browser. Source of supply, F4 in GUI also gives a list of vendors but if we select the vendor name, it is not being copied.
Else, if we type the business partner number in the tab, it gets selected.
Can anyone faced the similar type of problem?
Kindly suggest.
Earliest reply will be highly appreciated with points.
Sincerely,
Sridhar.Hi Yann,
Thanks for your reply.
I checked though. My problem is little different as I can see the list of vendors and also if I type the BP id of the particular vendor in the preferred vendor tab it works. Only I cannot doubleclick the vendors name and select it to the preferredvendor tab.
Also once selected I dont have any issues in creating the PO and the complete cycle.
Any other suggestions.
Sincerely,
Sridhar. -
