Hi everyone I just bought a brand new toshiba c640 and straight from out of the box it just wont start. nothings happening.

please help i just forked a lot of money for this and i bought this because i need it for a presentation tomorrow its 3am now and im very very frustrated

Try a proper system reset. Power off the laptop, unplug the AC from the unit, remove the battery, press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds, replace the battery and AC, power on, when you see the Toshiba logo, press the 'F2' key to enter theBIOS Setup, in setup press 'F9' to load setup defaults, press 'F10' to save and exit, and then to boot into Windows.
Please let us know what happens. Good luck.

  • Ipad wont turn on? It is brand new out of the box!

    ipad wont turn on? It is brand new out of the box! What should i do?

    You are holding down on the sleep button at the top of the iPad in the upper right corner - and waiting until the Apple logo appears?
    You could try charging the iPad as well.

  • Trouble with log in after my brand new, out of the box computer, sleeps.

    I'm having trouble logging in after my computer sleeps, I cannot directly do so even though my user account option is displayed.  I have to "choose another user" and re-choose my user account.  Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone know if it can be fixed?
    Info: Computer is brand new, out of the box today.  There are 4 other accounts set up on the computer.

    The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
    If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

  • How do I start over and bring my MacBook Pro to a brand new out of the box state?

    I have a MacBook Pro with Retinal Display purchased in June 2012.  I have backed up once using Time Machine. How do I put it back to the brand new just purchased out of the box state? Any ideas?  I have done this with windows computers, but never a Mac.

    To restore your MacBook to factory settings, you have to use Internet Recovery. Follow the steps:
    1. Press Command, Option and R keys while your Mac is starting, and open Disk Utility.
    2. Select Macintosh HD in the sidebar, go to Erase tab and erase the disk.
    3. Close Disk Utility and reinstall OS X. This can take hours because your computer has to download OS X from the App Store.
    After restoring the computer to factory settings, open App Store > Purchases to download iMovie, iPhoto and GarageBand

  • Brand new out of the box Mac book pro won't go past register country screen. esc starts voice over, cannot click or enter to go to next set up screen. Help!

    I have a new Mac book pro, powered up, won't go past welcome, choose country screen. VoiceOver works, I can use arrow keys to toggle up and down country list, but the continue button arrow will not work. Pressing enter makes an error tone. Tried everything to select country and proceed through setup, no luck. Supposed to be first Mac, present for my wife. So far not impressed!

    I just purchased my first Mac last night and also had the same problem.  You have to press down on the track pad to hear it click.  After you get it all setup you can set the track pad up for "touch" clicking.  Hope this helps.

  • K430-31092SU new out of the box has no audio.

    K430-31092SU new out of the box has no audio. The real ports for audio (green port on back) headphones and microphone (black and pink ports front or back) when a device is plugged in it does not pop up on the task bar. Under the Manage Audio Devices > Sounds, the level meter indicates sound is playing but nothing comes through the speakers or headphones. The video graphics card is connected to a ViewSonic 1080P LED monitor with built in speakers via the HDMI cable. Sound comes through the monitor speakers when selected but cannot get any sound from the green audio port internal to the motherboard. Tried unplugging the HDMI cable connected the VGA, same results, no sound from the speakers.
    Tech support remotes in and does everything I have already done with settings and drivers so they determine that the motherboard has a hardware failure and the machine will have to be returned. The tech was very easy to communicate with and I was given a case number to talk to the After Purchase Department and they say it will take 4-5 business days for them to contact me to start the process of returning the PC. WHAT? Start the process!
    Every third day I have called Lenovo and every time they say it will be 4-5 days for someone to contact me. The last time I called they told me someone would call that day. Needless to say I have not heard from anyone.
    Will reply later as to when I get instructions on returning the defective K430 and get a replacement. The Lenovo experience so far has been extremely disappointing.

    I always wanted a lenovo and got one couple years ago and was very disappointed at their battery.  For a netbook they wanted 178 bucks - still do.  They are looking heavily to their bottom line in my mind.  I bought a desktop shortly after and had pains plus but it wasn't all their fault.  I just bought an all in one and it will definitely be the last unless I seem them turn around soon.  This board is full of people with problems and no solutions.
    Mine, the touch screen is incompatible with windows 8 yet lenovo was pushing upgrading to windows 8.  Not wise in my mind but that is the way they are functioning right now.  I called about another problem and was told three times someone would call within the day - never happened.
    I must say the older two are great machines after I got them running smoothly though little to no help from lenovo.

  • Any idea when we will see units new out of the box without a scratch on iPhone 5?

    Any idea when we will see units new out of the box without a scratch?  I was out at Apple to pick up my iPhone 5 in black on Oct 12th.   I opened the box in front of an Apple technician and there was a scratch on the edge.  So I told her I didn't want a scratched iPhone.  So she returned and brought out another phone.   Well, she couldn't get it to a accept the new iPhone because there's a 24hr waiting period when you make a return.  This is Verizon's policy, but of course we didn't find out until 2.5hrs later.
    So she says you'll have to return but we will hold this phone for you.  I was disappointed after being there for a total of 3.5hrs and no iPhone.   I returned on Saturday hoping the next iPhone didn't have a scratch.   I opened the box and there was a scratch!   I live 40 minutes from these store, so it's not close.
    I have an iPhone 4 that's in excellent condition!  I don't want a new iPhone 5 with a scratch, unless its a scratch caused by me.

    We're users here.  Why would you ask a question here that no one can answer?  Are you impaired in some way intellectually?

  • New out of the box MacBook Pro with Caps Lock/Num Lock lit keys

    I just set up my brand new MacBook Pro 15" laptop and, right out of the box, the Caps Lock and Num Lock keys were lit up. I didn't think anything of it, and transferred all my user files from my old PowerBook G4. Well, they 2 keys seem to be working in reverse. When Caps Lock is lit up green, all characters are in lower case. Same as Num Lock. Any advice? Do I have a lemon?
    Thanks!

    I've also had this problem twice over the past couple of weeks.
    I have a theory that it has something to do with plugging in my USB mouse during the system boot. A reboot cured it both times though, and it's not gotten tot he point that it's annoying enough to investigate further.

  • My usb ports are not reading anything in plug in. new out of the box iMac

    i just took my mac out of the box and the usb ports don't seem to be working. i plugged in a gopro and an external hard drive. neither will show up anywhere.
    there is power going to them. what might be wrong?

    Worth a shot. Whats the harm.
    I'd not recommend it on a brand new Mac. That should be considered DOA. See this caution in this article:
    an SMC reset should only be attempted  after all other standard troubleshooting has been performed.

  • Out of the box workflow failed on start when started programatically

    I have an approval workflow (out of the box) associated with a list and need to start it for some items programmatically when some conditions are met.
    My application runs under an account which is a farm admin. I do have another user dedicated to start workflows. I'm using the code below but it always results in a 'failed on start'  with these errors
    2/27/2015 4:54 PM
    Workflow Cancelled

    Account
    Workflow 'WorkflowName' was canceled by System Account.

    'WorkflowName' failed to start.
    Code is :
    SPUserToken userToken = null;
                using (SPSite site = new SPSite("SiteName"))
                    using (SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb())
                        site.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;
                        web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;
                        userToken = web.AllUsers["WorkflowAccount"].UserToken;
        site.AllowUnsafeUpdates = false;
                        web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = false;
                using (SPSite site = new SPSite("SiteName", userToken))
                    using (SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb())
                        site.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;
                        web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;
                        SPWorkflowManager workflowManager = web.Site.WorkflowManager;
                        SPList list = web.Lists["LibName"];
                        SPListItem item = list.Items[1];
                        SPWorkflowAssociationCollection associationCollection = list.WorkflowAssociations;
                        foreach (SPWorkflowAssociation association in associationCollection)
                            if (association.Name == "WorkflowName")
                                association.AutoStartChange = true;
                                association.AutoStartCreate = false;
                                association.AssociationData = string.Empty;
                        site.WorkflowManager.StartWorkflow(item, association, association.AssociationData);
        break;
    site.AllowUnsafeUpdates = false;
                            web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = false;
    Is there any requirement on who can create the workflow? I can control who creates if I absolutely have to
    Any help/clues/directions appreciated.

    Hi LNFei,
    To troubleshooting the issue, I recommend to follow the steps as below:
    1.Start the workflow manually to check whether it works.
    2.Use another account not System Account to check whether it works.
    3.Publish the workflow as a different user (rather than System Account).
    4.Deactivate and Reactive the “Workflow” Feature.
    5.Check other workflows on other lists/libraries could work well.
    6.Create a simple workflow having only one activity which will log history only, check if it works well.
    Best Regards,
    Wendy

  • Shuffle NEW out of the box, iTunes doesn't recognize it

    Just purchased a new shuffle. We have other assorted ipods - two Classics and a Touch. I've been syncing them for a couple of years, and they sync fine. When I plug this brand new shuffle 2G in, itunes just does not recognize that it is plugged in, so won't prompt me to name it, etc. Should I just return it? By looking at the boards, it looks like this may be somewhat common. It is plugged into a USB, with the short cable that was provided with it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Also, we have a new desktop computer that this is all happening with. It's a Toshiba All-in-one... The other ipods sync and are managed just fine on it. I don't use the laptop listed at the bottom of the questions I post, but cannot figure out how to change that in my profile. I'm not using a Toshiba SatA665 laptop. I'm using a Toshiba DX730 64-bit laptop with Windows 7. If that matters. Like I said, it works fine for managing other ipods.

  • Ipod Touch - new out of the box - 3 years old

    I was given a new 1st gen Touch (16gb) almost 3 years ago but never opened it (lost track of it when we moved, then just stayed with my nano). Opened it tonight, plugged it into the USB port of my PowerBook, but it was just kind of sitting there. Did a reset and iTunes 7.7.1 tried to work with it but then says the Touch is defective. Is this just a battery issue? Can a new Lithium-Ion battery sit for three years then charge up like normal? Should an overnight charge do it? thank you.

    As this is the first time using the iPod Touch I would charge it overnight and if it functions I would upgrade it to iOS3. You can do so here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2052
    You will need at least iTunes 8.2 for iOS 3.0.x.
    All batteries have a shelf life. At least give it a go.

  • MacBook Pro 15" i7,  out of the box w/problems

    My MacBook Pro is brand new out of the box, less than 48 hours, and I'm already having issues with it.
    Before the first 24 hours out of the box, I got a message for a forced shut down (see image here: http://www.mactropolis.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/macosxkernelpanic.png)
    The following day, after coming out of sleep mode, I found it with a scrambled screen.
    I haven't installed or transferred anything onto it whatsoever, but just been using Safari. I've heard that people are having problems with using Safari with webpages using Flash, but that might not explain the forced shut down.
    I ran disk utility after the forced shut down and a few permissions were fixed but there were no other problems. After the scrambled screen, I ran an extended hardware test twice, and no problems were detected
    I'm not sure there are any grounds for taking this to the Genius Bar, but I'm rather irritated for this to be happening when I haven't really started using this computer for more than browsing the internet.
    Any suggestions? Might it be as simple as using something other than Safari?

    The solution is extremely simple, return it for another. If you bought it from an Apple Store it should be no problem. If you bought it from an Apple Reseller you need to deal with them directly.
    Don't wait, do it today.

  • Helix stuttering, locking up out of the box

    Helix, brand new out of the box.  Whenever data transfers are taking place the thing basically locks up for a minute or two and then comes back to life.  Going into the even viewer I get a ton of warnings like this
    "The IO operation at logical block address e263a8 for Disk 0 was retried"  I am assuming this thing shipped with a bad HD?
    All updates have been performed.

    Sounds like a bad secor/block. You could confirm with a disk diagnostic tool, like smartmontools or HDTune.You might try a lowlevel format if you're in a rush or familiar. If not, I recommend contacting support as soon as possible
