Brasero doesn't allow video files to be added to a video project
Hello,
When I try to add a video (any) to a Brasero video project I get this error:
"Jerry.Maguire.1996.BrRip.720p.x264.YIFY.mkv" is not suitable for audio or video media.
I've tried different videos with different containers & codecs.

IPod works, just doesn't allow video
My iPod works and everything. I recently got it 'restored' to original settings, and when i try to drag a video file over to the iPod icon it says
"Some of the songs in the iTunes music library, including the song "insert song here", were not copied to the iPod"insert iPod name here" because they cann't be played on this iPod.

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music' then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

Screen Saver doesn't allow SOURCE SELECTION but automatically begins to download unknown files. I have to force quit, but it does the same thing each time I try to select a source.

I have iPhone 4s. I downloaded iTunes to my PC and when I connected my iPhone to the PC iTunes showed a message that my device's time limit has expired. So iTunes doesn't allow me to transfer files from my iPhone to my PC .

When I've had a similar problem, it was because I was accessing the iTunes store from a device I hadn't used before, such as when I upgraded from an iPad 1 to the iPad 2. It was a little confusing to me until I figured it out.
All I had to do was use the ID of my existing account and play along with the iTunes store. As I recall, it asked for my password twice, and the security code from the back of my credit card. After that, downloads proceeded as before.

Autofill file doesn't allow editing or deleting
In Safari on my iMac 5 autofill doesn't allow removal of any user names or passwords. Safari has problems and I think this file is corrupt.
Can the file be deleted so it can be created again through Safari?Passwords are stored in Keychain Access /Applications/Utilities
And from the Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences - Auofill
Click the Edit button to the right of: User names and passwords
Make selections(s) then click Remove.
If you still can't remove user names and passwords from the Autofill pane, try troubleshooting the Safari. plist file. (preferences)
Go to ~/Library/Preferences. Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file to the Desktop.
Quit then relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, move the .plist file to the Trash.
~ (Tilde) character represents your Home folder.
If that didn't help, quit Safari. Open a Finder window select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left. Then open the Library folder, then the Caches folder, then the com.apple.Safari folder. Move the cache.db (or ApplicationCache.db) file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash. Relaunch Safari. -
I have a family video DVD that was originally on tape, but is now on disc. I want to import it onto my MacBook to edit and store. However the files are IFO, BUP and VOB and the Mac is saying 'unable to import' as it doesn't recognise the file. Help please !!!!!
Those are the constituent parts of a standard mpeg2 DVD. Storing them is easy: just copy the folder to your hard drive and they will play in DVD player or VLC.
But that format is not intended for editing. To do so:
You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:

I'm just learning DW. "Choose file>Preview" in Browser This doesn't allow selection of browsers. I tried to add Safari and Fire Fox in the preferences but they are still grayed out ( not selectable) Can anyone help?
Edit > Preferences > Preview in Browsers.
Select your primary browser by hitting Plus sign. Browse for the browser's executable file on your hard drive. Repeat for other browsers and hit OK.

My iPad will only recognise photos when I connect an Sd card with the camera connection kit. It doesn't recognise video clips from the same card?!
Most probably because your camera records videos into MTS files, which aren't cmpatible with iOS. Read http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/playing-back-1080p60i60p-non-mov-videos-right- your-camera for more info and the alternatives (preprocessing ("remuxing") on a desktop etc); don't forget to follow the iVI review link at the bottom if you have a Mac.

Fairly new to PP. When I drag a clip from the media browser only the video goes into the timeline. It doesn't allow the audio. What could I be doing wrong?

Subversion doesn't allow adding a file
Hi all,
I'm using JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0 and built in subversion tool for version control, in a team development environment.
A user adds a file to his current working project and commits it to the repository.
Then in another user's pending changes panel, it is shown that the new file has being added.
But the problem is when right clicked on that file in the pop-up menu, "Update" is disabled.
So the file cannot be added to the second user's working copy.
When I update using the tortiseSVN updating happens and the file is added to the new project as well.
How can I solve this problem.

I think I know why you are not able to see the Update menu item. Is this what is happening:
1. You click on the Pending Changes Incoming tab and see that a new file has been Added by another user
2. You open the context menu for that file in the Incoming tab and the Update menu is disabled (as is the Update icon, but if you have other files that have been Modified by another user you could use the Update menu item/button for those)
3. From there you move to the Versioning menu and almost all the available menu items are disabled (including commit, update, commit working copy, update working copy etc)
The reason they are disabled is that the Versioning menu is enabled when the application has the window focus. To enable the Versioning menu click anywhere inside the Application Navigator for your application and go to the Versioning menu again - the option to Update Working Copy etc will now be enabled

Migration Assistant doesn't allow me to choose what drive.
Well, I got my new computer. I tried to migrate a drive from my old computer using Migration Assistant. and it doesn't allow me to choose what drive.
In my old computer I have 5 drives. The original HD (was 10GB, was replaced last year by a 40 GB) and on my Hitachi 250 GB drive that I added 2 years ago, there's a partition with 4 drives.
I wanted to migrate one particular drive from there (called Current work).
First I did a mistake. I connected both computer via the firewire in the afternoon when there was enough daylight so I don't have to do it later at night (the computers are under the table.) I thought it's OK since I'm not pushing any button yet ("migrate now", "transfer", and such).
I turned on the new computer and a message appeared: you must restart.
That's strange, I said to myself. it's a brand new computer. Usually It says that when there's a problem, but OK I restart and when it's back on, I see that my external drive (Neptune from OWC which was still hooked up in the old computer) is on the desktop. And it took just a few seconds. I open it and all the files, etc. are there. It did copy the whole external drive !
I'm not an computer expert but I believe the Mac Pro did notice that's there's a firewire hooked up and then, without asking me, migrated the external drive and that's why it asked me to restart. I would have prefer if it tells me "restart so migration can begin".
I don't mind for now that my external drive is on my new computer. I can always erase it if I don't want it. It is still external right ? so it doesn't intrude on the 640 GB of my HD so I just keep it.
But it also copied/migrate Mac HD 40 GB which is full of OS 9 and I almost never use it anymore. I don't want it coz it has applications and they advise not to migrate applications (certainly not applications with issues).
They say migrate folders, settings but re-install applications.
And it migrated also another drive called "Scratch" which has only personal date no system, no software.
Anyway, I erased everything and re-installed using the Install disk that came with the computer.
BTW, what they say in the manual (p. 90: Re-installing the software that came with your Mac Pro) is different than what really happens.
They say insert disk, double- click on Install and then click options in the "Select a destination" pane of the installer. Then click "erase and install" Problem is: there's no "Select a destination" pane. Or any options.
I had to go to Disk utility and erase, then re-install OS X.
Then re-install the applications using "Install applications" (the other disc that came with the computer. )
OK, I did that. Then while everything is empty, new, I used Migration Assistant.
Now here is the reason why I post this.
They say hold T key until you see a firewire icon then select a drive. I can't see when there's an icon coz I have only one monitor, so I just hold and hold the T-key and turn on the old computer. The screen shows "waiting for you other computer to restart" 2 min.... 5 min... 7 min. Nothing happens. I stop holding.
I look at the desktop and I see that the icon of the old 40 GIG Mac HD is there. (and I believe with a firewire logo, but not sure about that.)
I have the impression that if I kept the T-key longer it would have migrate the other drives as well.
They say keep the T-key down until you see the firewire (then let go I suppose. As I said I don't see what's going on on the desktop of my old computer so I kept the T-key for a few minutes. I also tried another time to let go after 1-2 min. No difference.
I shut down the new comp. and the old computer screen appears automatically (both are connected to the monitor; the old with analog port, the new with digital port) and sure enough the firewire icon is moving on the screen.
I go back to the new computer and put the old 40 GIG Mac HD in the trash. Actually, when it touched the trash, I just saw an eject icon and the drive disappear. Did not go in the trash which is empty. So I guess I ejected, not sure what's the difference but I looked for it to see if it's anywhere in the computer. Could not find it. Not in the HD, not in the desktop. Good, I don't want it there. Is it hidden somewhere ?
So I tried again but wondering perhaps the old computer should RESTART not turn on (it was off) so now I wait until it's on, then push restart. I hear the gong when it shuts off but that's it, no other gong when it comes back. I keep the T-key. But nothing happened. Just see the message "waiting for your other computer to restart"
PS: BTW Target mode (which seems to me similar to Migrating with "Migration Assistant") will not work for me because it must be SATA, mine is ATA.
I didn't try but read that it has to be SATA.
Is it the same ? In migrating they say hold down the T-key (T for target)
And how come that my 40GB HD which is ATA did migrate (not that I wanted too but still).
Also, this drive ("Current Work") that I want to migrate to the new computer is in my external drive. Can't I just drag it ? If it has only personal data, files and folders I know I can, but It has system (OS X) and applications. It's the one I use and boot on, in my old G4 but I want to transfer Files and folders and settings, so the new computer will know what are my Safari preferences, Automatic fill-in, and perhaps it will move my iTunes music Library too ?
Basically everything except applications. Although I would like my Nikon scanner to be in the new computer as well as the LaCie DVD recorder but I guess I can do that later, separately ?
What are the settings or info I need ? Because if it's just Safari preferences, automatic fill-in and other such small thing, it might be better to just do it again in the new comp and forget about the hassle of migrating.Try getting into Windows and then plugging in the Superdrive. The drive will only be attached to one OS or the other, not both.

Bridge doesn't allow me to turn on color management
Any idea why Bridge doesn't allow me to edit/turn on color management? When I go to Edit>Creative Suite Color Settings I just get an error. Says I must launch at least one qualifying CS product. As I have Dreamweaver CS5.5 and PS CS5 running I never know what the issue is. Any ideas? Adobe help is useless on this.
If that is the case, Adobe needs to do a better job in how the settings function. For example, instead of just getting an error message with a confusing statement, the message would provide further clarification and also solutions. The message says one needs to have at least one program running to set up color management. It doesn't say one entire color suite. But thanks so much for responding to my questions.
A bit of the problem is that writing a manual and a help file is not that easy at all. But when it comes to complicated applications like PS and combined with other applications it really is a difficult task. I'm not saying Adobe succeeds clearly in this task because it is not easy to find your way in the new help files but with a bit effort you will soon explore there is a lot of information about understanding color in the PS on line manual (use the menu help / Photoshop Help and your browser shows a page from product support. Top right above there is the option to download the PDF manual. And in the provided list on your browser window you see also the option for Creative Suite, click on it and you will see a complete chapter about Color Management.
While I know a bit of this subject I'm certainly no expert. It is a complex matter but the basics are not that difficult and the result of your learning effort will pay it self back
Another issue I have noticed is that Bridge does not do a good job at updating thumbnails. I frequently have to hit F5 to refresh when this should happen automatically. I use a Windows 7 machine and perhaps all of this works better on Macs - I don't know.
That should not be needed on either Mac or Windows. While no knowledge of Windows at all to me it seems related to a cache problem. First point Bridge to the folder that gives you this problem and then choose the menu Tools/ cache / purge cache for folder. See if this gives better results. If so and you have other folders with same problem use the option to purge the entire cache and have a fresh start. You need a bit of time because all thumbs and previews have to rebuild. -
Firefox doesn't play video and audio, cann't download anything!
A very strange problem occurred a few days ago. I didn't pay attention on it at first ( I thought it was caused by my provider) but now I found that it's a real problem. Firefox doesn't play video or audio. For instance, it starts loading and that's all. The same is with playing music. In addition, I can't download any files and view a big image as quick as early.
What is more interesting sometimes Firefox just begins to work in ordinary way.There is no single codec for movies that have .avi extensions. AVI is a container format, not a specific type of file. An AVI movie may use one of the Indeo codecs (there are at least four that I'm aware of, none of which have been ported to Mac OS X) or one of the various flavors of DivX, among other possibilities. You'll have to find out what codec was used for the movies you want to view to determine what you need. Note that not all codecs for the various .avi movies are available for QuickTime.
If you want to try "hit and miss", you can try the codecs at http://www.divx.com/ and http://www.3ivx.com/ and see if one of them will work for you. Perian, which rolls several codecs into one package, might also work.
If you just want to play the movie any way you can, you can also give this player a try:
