Break table row across multiple frames?

Hi
I would know wether is possible to split a single table row across serverla frames/pages.
I´m using InDesign CS5 and when I try to import a big table from word documments (by using de app or by scripting), if a row is bigger than the textFrame, a blank page is generated with the overflow simbol.
The only way to see that table is by enlarging the textFrame.
I´ve been reading about this problem, and some news in 2004 reported it was a problem wich will be solved in next releases.
Is there any way to work arround?
One option is to split de row in several small rows, but I think the proper solution would be to let the row jump to the next TextFrame (just like word does)
Thanks in advance

I can show you a real example.
http://www.xunta.es/dog/Publicados/2011/20110615/AnuncioC3F1-140611-3147_gl.pdf
In page 14984 the row with the text "Coruña" span across two pages. Well, in this example, what we did was to convert the table in images. Then the images were put inside each page in InDesign.
This cell is too big to fit in a frameText and it was shown as empty.
Other option would be to split the row before the imporation. In this way, InDesign would, automatically jump to the next page.
The question was if there was any configuration option to implement all this solutions (change the table or convert it to text) without change the table structure.
Any way, thansk again.

  • Table Rows with Multiple Conditions Not Showing Up in RH

    Hi everyone,
    I'm currently evaluating TCS2 (Framemaker 9 and RoboHelp 8 on Windows XP) and have come across the following issue:
    One of our FrameMaker source files contains a table in which one of the rows has multiple conditions applied. When one of the conditions is shown in Framemaker, and the others are hidden, the row is displayed in Framemaker as expected. However, when the file is then imported or linked into Robohelp, the same table row vanishes, even though the Apply FrameMaker Conditional Text Build Expression check box is selected in the Framemaker Conversion Settings > Other Settings screen. This only appears to affect table rows - when paragraph text is tagged with the same conditions, it is imported correctly into RoboHelp.
    For example, when Condition B is shown and Condition A is hidden in the Framemaker file, the content appears like this in Frame:
    Unconditional
    Unconditional
    Condition A and Condition B applied
    Condition A and Condition B applied
    Condition B applied
    Condition B applied
    Paragraph text with Condition A and Condition B applied.
    Paragraph text with Condition B applied.
    When the same file is imported into RoboHelp, the row with both conditions applied is absent from the table:
    Unconditional
    Unconditional
    Condition B applied
    Condition B applied
    Paragraph text with Condition A and Condition B applied.
    Paragraph text with Condition B applied.
    Installing patches 8.0.1 and 8.0.2 did not resolve the issue (and actually caused other, unrelated issues) and I see the same behavior regardless of whether I import or link the FrameMaker document.
    Has anyone else seen this issue? Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    DaveB

    It just seems that the items I select as align to top in the
    property inspector should force the items to the top of their
    cells, unless I'm missing something.

    Thanks in advance!You should be doing this in the client on not in the DB. Use the reporting tool that you use to do this.
    For example if you are in SQL Plus you can use the BREAK command.

  • Flowing table rows across pages

    Is there a way that when using tables you can flow rows across pages automatically like you can in MS word?
    Thanks

    ID splits tables only between cells rows, not mid-row, but it will certainly split a table between frames.

  • View a single table-row as multiple rows in a GridControl

    Hi,
    is it possible to distribute the entries of a single row of a table/RowSetInfo over multiple lines of a GridControl?
    I've seen an example on the Internet (http://www2.gol.com/users/tame/swing/examples/JTableExamples4.html) which does this without database connection but it seems as if it's necessary to replace the default JTable, TableModel and UI by customized ones. As far as I've seen it's not possible to replace the JTable which is used by a GridControl? So is there any other way to do this? (A modification of the JTable-UI itself doesn't suffice as the JTable yields wrong row- and column-numbers on mousclick-events and therefore the components of the second row are not enabled properly).
    Thanks in advance

    You wont be able to replace the JTable. But you can change all the attributes on the internal table which the grid uses (see getTable() method). The datamodel for the grid is impemented by oracle.dacf.control.swing.GridDataSource. You can possibly extend this class. You can also change the Table column model and the renderers used by the Table.

    Could you expain how the mapping between cell renderer and the table (row, col) is done in the extended JTable - which class ?.

  • Images displayed in Labview do not stay synchronized across multiple frames

    Hello,
    I'm a little new of a poster, but a long time lurker. I'd like to thank everyone that answers here for all of the questions that I have previously read and from which I have learned so much.
    I am creating an Labview FPGA based solution in Labview 12.0 32bit on Windows 7. I have a target FPGA module which captures data from an external apparatus, does some processing locally, and then uses a DMA FIFO to send this data to the host, one sample/pixel at a time.
    The host takes this pixel data, does a little bit more processing to it and adds each row to a queue. This queue is then looked at, some more processing is done to the rows and they are combined together, finally resulting in a 2D array that is displayed using the 'intensity chart' indicator.
    I have managed to get this running at around 10 fps, creating essentially a movie. The synchronization is done via a trigger signal sent from my external apparatus to the FPGA to keep both each row and each frame displaying correctly.
    The problem has been that as I try to add a little bit more functionality to the host (specifically - I'm trying to send across 2 channels simultaneously from the FPGA by combining them into a U32, and so I need to pull that combination apart and translate it back into fixed point in an automatically indexed for loop, at which point I pass one of the channels through same processing as before before displaying just that one channel), I have seemed to hit some sort of wall of functionality in that my synchronization no longer works. That is, my image, instead of being properly centered, it is skewed so I see only half of each frame each time I display the image. Finally, when I move my mouse around, or scroll my front panel, or even hover over the start bar (and have the Windows 7 window previews pop up) or do pretty much anything else with the Windows UI, my frames start 'skipping' and they change where they overall in the horizontal and vertical direction.
    This leads me to conclude that there is some resource that I am unaware of that is limited and that overflows whenever I do anything with the UI. This resource then overflows and drops some lines of pixels. When the program recovers, it goes back to displaying full frames, but by this point things are out of synch already, so I never return to a 'correct' image, although this is just a hypothesis.
    Question:
    Does anyone know if there is a hidden resource that Labview is using that would cause degradation of performance tied to UI changes in Windows or in Labview proper? If so, is there anything that I can do to increase this resource? If not, then is there another approach that I should be using for these type of high throughput requirements?
    Thanks everyone!
    Adrian

    Hi Florian,
    Thanks for your response!
    I can try that - thanks.
    In terms of giving more, unfortunately, I am unable to post the actual code, or else I would have already. I will try to describe the problem as much as possible:
    I am processing data points in the FPGA, then transferring to the host. At the host, I am combining the elements together into a 2D array, transposing them, and sending them back to the FPGA. On the FPGA side, I am again operating on each element, before transferring back to the host. Now that the final values are at the host, I am displaying them.
    1. Is there a quick way to transpose a 2D array on the host? I assume that I will need to gather all of the elements together into a 2D array and then transpose it, before splitting it up again. Is that correct?
    When I split it out again, is there a faster way to do it than to auto-index this array in a for loop and feed that into a DMA FIFO back to the FPGA?
    2. My assumption is that the host cannot process things fast enough and that it is the cause of the dropped pixels. Is there a way to see where a buffer is dropping data during operation? Other than the 'timeout' states on the DMA FIFOs, is there a way to check on queues or other host constructs? Would this be purely through the queue 'get number of elements left' method?
    3. My algorithm is reliant on a transpose, which is why I have a back and forth between the FPGA and the Host. Do you know of a good way to apply a transpose on an array purely in the FPGA? That would eliminate a round trips and thus reduce a lot of the load on the host.
    Thanks for your help!
    Best,
    Adrian

  • Selecting rows across multiple tables (SSCCE provided)

    Greetings,
    I have a program that has 3 tables. When the user selects a row on one table, I want the corresponding rows in the other tables to be selected also. A corresponding row is defined (in this case) as a row whose column 1 value is the same. Column 1, in this case, is a company name, and the tables reference yearly info for those companies. So, if a user selects company #34, I would like it to select company #34 across the other two tables, also.
    I have established list selection listeners for each table that changes the selection for the other two tables.
    This code, however, doesn't work. two things are broken: 1) the cross-selection only works if the selection is moving up the table, but not down the table. 2) the scrrollRectToVisible on the viewport isn't working. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

    hi Akhilesh,
    Use tree table for your requirement.

  • Universal timer across multiple frames

    Hello again
    I'm creating a flash quiz and each question is timed. When the timer runs out I have some actionscript that says 'when timer reaches 0, go to and stop frame x', but the problem is I have quite a few pages and some of my timers are conflicting. Is there a way I can make one timer control everything?
    At the moment I have one timer that controls when the clock times out
    var count:Number = 6;
    var myTimer:Timer=new Timer(1000,count);
    myTimer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, countdown);
    myTimer.start();
    function countdown(event:TimerEvent):void {
    myText_txt.text=String((count)-myTimer.currentCount);
    if(myText_txt.text == "0"){
    gotoAndStop(5);
    I have 'correct' and 'incorrect' pages, so when a question a question is answered correctly, you will jump to the 'correct' frame on the timeline. I then have a timer that controls when you leave that page
    Example
    var myTimer2:Timer;
    myTimer2 = new Timer(3000, 3)
    myTimer2.start();
    myTimer2.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, backtoStart2)
    function backtoStart2(evt:TimerEvent):void{
        myTimer2.start();
        if(myTimer2.currentCount == 3) (gotoAndStop(3));
        trace (myTimer2.currentCount)
    My problem is that I have 8 questions, and it seems silly to make a new timer for each page, especially when I will keep getting a duplicate function definition error. What is the best way to approach this if I want all my actionscript on one frame?

    Got what I mentioned earlier to work but seem to have a new problem. Will explain by showing my code-
    When my timer reaches zero (frame 3) I change to frame 5 which is an 'incorrect' page
    var count:Number = 6;
    var myTimer:Timer = new Timer(1000,count);
    myTimer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, countdown);
    myTimer.start();
    function countdown(event:TimerEvent):void
              myText_txt.text=String((count)-myTimer.currentCount);
              if (myText_txt.text == "0")
                        gotoAndStop(5);
                        myTimer.reset();
    I then have a different timer on frame 5 which says, after x amount of seconds, go to frame 6, which is the next question
    var myTimer4:Timer;
    myTimer4 = new Timer(3000,3);
    myTimer4.start();
    myTimer4.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, backtoStart2);
    function backtoStart2(evt:TimerEvent):void
              myTimer4.start();
              if (myTimer4.currentCount == 3)
                        gotoAndStop(6);
    This is where things go abit weird for me
    myTimer.start();
    myTimer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, countdown);
              myText_txt.text=String((count)-myTimer.currentCount);
              if (myText_txt.text == "0")
                        gotoAndStop(7);
                        myTimer.reset();
    Instead of going to frame 7 when the timer runs out, it goes back to frame 5. Why is this based on my script? Do I need to removeEventListener on frame 5? All the action script is on different frames.
    Sorry to hassle, still new to actionscript and trying to learn as I go
    Thanks

  • Need to shift multiple objects across many frames

    I don't know if this is even possible, but what I'd like to
    do is shift multiple objects, in multiple layers, across multiple
    frames. The problem is that I built a complex animation as a movie
    symbol within the root movie. It got so complex, however, that I'd
    like to just go ahead and make it the main timeline for the root
    movie. But when I copy and paste the frames from the symbol back
    out into the root timeline, the location is wrong. Everything is in
    the correct location relative to each other element, but wrong
    relative to the stage. Is there any way to grab everything up in
    all of those layers and frames and just shift it all over to where
    it's supposed to be? Or can I somehow shift the stage under it?
    Thanks in advance.

  • CURSOR across multiple Regions

    Hello,
    I have a page that I need to display around 300 fields with custom html mixed in. Instead of creating all the page items, I want to just creat a CURSOR and use htp.print. My problem is that its a LOT of code. I want to break it apart across multiple regions. Is their a way to OPEN a cursor so that multiple regions can use it?
    Or, back to the PHP days, is their an ARRAY that this can be loaded into and printed like a cursor when needed?

    Is their a way to OPEN a cursor so that multiple regions can use it?You can have a process run before all regions to insert records into a collection(by a package call or PLSQL region).
    Then refer to this collection in your regions(s)
    <li>If you want to separte or split the content across, multiple "regions" , you cab generate them in the same PLSQL code that you posted.
    For instance, you have a single PLSQL based region without any template which generate the HTML code that renders like multiple region.
    In the Source, you can generate the HTML code for the region(s) in addition to printing out the data.
    An Apex region normally consists of div or table elements given some styling using builtin classes(and matching the theme). So if you generate the same HTML, it would render the same as a region.You can copy the HTML content of any region template(or from the rendered page) and add that within the "htp.p" codes.
    <li> A third option would be to generate the enclose different sections of your data in some identifiable HTML element and use Javascript to move them under the appropriate region.
    Having said this, I have to agree with replies above,there could be a better way of displaying your data than generating the entire HTML yourself.Since you say about using a cursor, I guess multiple SQL reports regions would be a good starting point as they are used for displaying lots of records. You could tweak the look'n'feel with some kind of customized template, rather that redo the whole thing yourself.

  • Triggering "exit" event of a drop-down list in all instances of a table row

    I have a drop-down list in a table row with multiple instances that performs a calculation on the exit event. This calculation draws information from 2 other dropdown lists contained above in non-repeating rows of the same table.
    The desired behavior is: should the user change their choices above, all instances of the drop-down list below would perform the "Exit" event script  accessing the new values above.
    My script is:
    RowOptionalCoverage.DdlCoverageType.execEvent("exit");     this works, sort of
    It only updates the first instance of RowOptionalCoverage and none of the subsequent instances. The user can "Tab" through the instances and trigger the Exit event for each instance, but this is not a reasonable solution.
    I have tried using the resolveNodes method without success. I understand, using the resolveNodes method may be necessary when referencing multiple instances of an object:
    this.resolveNodes("RowOptionalCoverage[*].DdlCoverageType[*]").execEvent("exit");     doesn't work
    xfa.resolveNodes("RowOptionalCoverage[*].DdlCoverageType[*]").execEvent("exit");      doesn't work
    No doubt, I must be using the resolveNodes incorrectly or missing something? Probably something simple.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    PERFECT!!! Works right out of the box!
    This has opened my eyes to the essential nature of loops. My form is very large and complex and functions correctly, Yet the coding is lacking in sophistication--no loops, functions, fragments or other code efficiencies. I am teaching myself (with the help here) and I have skipped learning and using some techniques when I could things to work using the  limited skill set I have.
    Sometimes, I just don't "get it". After I fail a few times, I skip it and try something else. Functions are a great example. I could utilize a bunch of these if I could only write one that works. It is frustrating. If I got one to work, I know could write a ton of them. But, there is some essential part of functions I am missing that's preventing me from having my first success with them. (I think it has to do with not understanding arguments completely).
    Anyway, I am overjoyed with the solution you provided and I understand it well enough to be able to use again in other situations.
    Thanks again!

  • Which page is my table row on?

    Hi there
    I have a large table that spans many pages in overflowing to different text frames.
    How can i tell which page a row is on.. i have tried the following
    function PageRowIsOn(row) //yes i do correctly pass a table row
        var table = row.parent;
        var frame   = table.parent;
        var pageIndex= frame.parent.index;
        return pageIndex;
    but it always returns 0.
    So i was wondering if someone can point me in a better direction
    cheers
    Buzz

    Try the below code return the page object
    function getPage(theObj)
         if (theObj.constructor.name == "Page") return theObj;
         if (theObj.constructor.name == "Character")
          return getPage(theObj.parentTextFrames[0]);
         if (theObj.constructor.name == "Application")
              // Frame is on an unexpected place...
              alert ("Can't able to find the page");
              //exit(0);
         return getPage(theObj.parent);

  • Orphan table header at bottom of page when page breaks a table across multiple pages

    Hi all,
    I think similar questions have been asked before but I have not found an answer.
    Here's the scenario:
    I have several dynamic tables in a dynamic form.  The layout is flowed, and everything can grow and shrink as needed.  That all works.
    However, my tables have headers.  Occasionally when one of these tables is large and needs to break across multiple pages, there will be just enough room at the bottom of the previous page to show the next table header, but not enough space to show any of the related table rows.  So it ends up looking silly, with just an orphaned header at the bottom of one page, and then the table continues on the next.
    I have my tables set up so that headers get repeated on subsequent pages, by setting the header row to "repeat row for each data item" on the binding tab.  I would like to keep that functionality, but I just want to find a way to avoid these "orphaned" table headers that sometimes appear.
    I have tried the "keep with next" option.  However, although this does push the rendering of the header to the next page, it seems that according to livecycle the table still officially began on the previous page.  Therefore I get a duplicate header because of the "repeat row for each data item" option.
    I have also tried having two header rows, one that is set to only be displayed on the initial page, and the other that is set to appear only on subsequent pages (pagination tab).  This did not work - I ended up with duplicate table headers.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks!

    You shouldn't have "repeat row for each data item" selected for header rows.
    You should have "include header row in initial page" and "include header row in subsequent pages" selected on the Pagination tab.
    Then using a "keep with next" might work ok.

  • Table not going across multiple pages

    I have two simple side-by-side tables that I want to stretch across multiple pages when necessary by clicking the Add Another button object.
    I think I've done everything necessary to have the table repeat on multiple pages:
    1. My table is in a subform.
    2. The subform is set to Flowed.
    3. The table has Allow Page Breaks with Content
    4. The table is not a group table
    5. I have the Rows in Binding to Repeat Row for Each Data Item
    What I do notice is that when I click on either Table and then click the Pagination tab in Object--- Pagination is greyed out
    Can anyone offer any suggestions?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    first of all thanks for the link to the tutorial
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}

    Example of building dynamic tables here: http://assure.ly/gk8Q7a.
    I have created a header on my master-page (just a Logo-picture). When my dynamic table reaches the end of the page, it creates a new page - any problem yet.
    But on the new page, the table just starts directly on the top (y = 0). In this way the table is placed above my logo.
    Is there any way to solve this problem?
    Anything like "check if there is a header on master page and set new rows on next table under the header"?
