Broadband Connection Problem - Error 101

I am getting connection problems every single day, everyting will be fine but then all webpages get this come up...
It will happen on both my laptops and a desktop. IE will fail to connect as well as Chrome.
I have to restart either the PC and /or BT Hub to get the connection back again.
Any help on this one please?
Thanks,
Rod.

  • Ace - connection reset (Error 101)

    Hi, I have a problem with a Cisco ACE, after approximately an hour being in production, for all new connections
    it gives the message: connection reset. The message on any web browser is: connection reset (Error 101)
    It blocks any backend server (Apache).I get same error also when I try to connect direcly to the backend address.
    This error saturates the connections on the servers (in the log of the DB I found error connection reset)
    Without ACE all work fine, it's not a load traffic issue.
    It seems like once opened a connection the ace does not close it anymore!
    But the graphical snmp servers do not report the increase in connections, what is mistake ?
    The balancer manages two physical servers and is configured in stickyness mode

  • Broadband connection problem in a flat

    I had my broadband installed a few months ago and service has been great. However since yesterday morning my broadband has been constantly cutting out with a flashing orange light on my home hub. I also have ridiculously slow speeds. I have spoken to the BT tech people twice who have run tests and said that I have an 'unstable line', and are sending an engineer out on Weds.
    I live in a top floor flat of a converted house and do not have a master socket in my flat, so can't check to see if the problem is internal or external. My neighbour in the ground floor flat has advised that her service is working fine. I'm worried that I'm going to get charged £99 from this engineer visit because of this. Does anyone have any advice about how phonelines are wired in converted houses, and whether I should risk having an engineer out - I really don't want to pay £99! Also if I do get charged this, will they actually fix the problem if it is to do with my wiring?? I could barely understand the person I spoke to in BT's call centre in India.
    Thanks

    I posted on here about 10 days ago because the connection in my flat suddenly started dropping, I called the BT tech team who did a line check over 24 hours and said I had an unstable line. They were going to send an engineer out but I postponed because I did not want to risk getting charged £99 for them not to actually fix anything. I live in a flat on the top floor so do not have a master socket. None of the other flats in the block have been having problems with their internet. I have 2 sockets in my flat and tried both during the test with the tech people, but this made no difference.
    Anyway since then I have not had any more problems (that I know of) with the light flashing orange on the hub, but the speed is insanely slow. I read some previous posts on here and saw that it is advisable to leave the hub switched on for 10 days and not to reset as this should help bring the speed back up. However I have just gone into the hub manager to check the line status and it says that I have only been connected for 10 hours, when I know that the hub has not been switched off for a week and I was at work 10 hours ago!
    Please could someone help me:
    - with some suggestions about what could be the problem?
    - if the engineers come out and find that there is not a problem with the external phone lines (which is my hunch since none of the other flats have problems), what exactly will they do? Will they fix the problem? What if there is a problem with my homehub - am I expected to pay £99 if that is the cause?
    I have very little understanding of the internet etc so answers in simple language would be greatly appreciated!

  • Broadband connection problems

    I have never 'posted' anywhere in all my 50+ years, basically I'm a female Luddite.
    I have been forced to join this and to write here as the problems we are having are completely unacceptable. It has been going on for months.
    I don't know where to go or what to do so............
    It's the same rigmarole every time and when the weeks have passed (it's nearly 2 weeks this time) and eventually an engineer (always very nice people) comes out & they tells us it will never get better as the telephone pole is full to capacity and there's no where else to connect us to. It seems it will cost a lot of money to 'upgrade' the pole.
    They explain this very kindly but basically it means BT is saying "Tough, put up with it".
    Maddness has gone on.........
    To 'improve' the connection they have moved the telephone to the most inconvenient location.....which resulted in absolutely no improvement at all as we are still in the same state except now with the phone upstairs by the loo!!!!!!
    It's near the outside wall where the phone line enters the house so he said should work better....men travel in space but a phone line can't carry the calls down my stairs????
    Can this be true?
    BT broadband & their service is completely unreliable.
    The only part of all this that IS reliable is ourselves, we reliably carry on paying our bills.........WE ARE IDIOTS.
    I'm not sure how one signs off from these things so I'll just say........
    Thank you.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    My apologies, I have no idea what 'adsl statistics' are or how to find them or my 'router'.
    I don't think this is the place for me firstly as I have absolutely NO knowledge, I really, truly mean none and actually trying to access the forum is just adding more stress...as we have little to no connection, see below.
    I do know that a new filter (which took, for some reason, 7 days to arrive in the post adding still more delay to any resolution)has been plugged in to the test socket since Thursday.
    The result is basically no change.
    We still have the intermittent, deafningly loud cracking on the line and to give you a snap shot of our broadband 'service' from yesterday, Saturday 20th July .......
    Broadband On at 1.55pm.....Off at 2.46pm,     On at 2.48pm........Off at 2.57pm,  On at 3.04pm....Off at 3.06pm,
    On at 4.28pm..... Off at 4.30pm,   On at 4.35.......Off at 4.36pm,   On at 4.38.......Off at 4.38,   On at 4.48.......Off at 4.51,
    On at 5.20pm......Off at 5.50pm,   On at 6.00pm......Off at 6.10pm,   On at 6.15pm......Off at 7.15pm,
    On at 8.12pm....Off at 8.12pm.............................................
    It's maddening and has been going on for months, we had no internet at all for weeks over Christmas and New Year, NONE.
    We can't get rid of BT broadband 'till they sort out the line, no other company will take us on, we have tried, if you have cracking on the line they are not interested.
    Catch 22.
    If I don't re-appear it's not that I'm being rude it's either that I can't as we have even less 'service' if that is possible or BT have, eventually, broken me.
    Thank you again.

  • Connection problem(error 500), please help

    Hello Im a newbie to db connections with java
    ive written a servlet to acces mymy hsql db(sample):
    String dbURL = "jdbc:hsqldb:" + getServletContext().getRealPath("/~mazzok/myDB");
    Class.forName("org.hsqldb.jdbcDriver");
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection(dbURL, "user", "pass");
    } catch (Exception e) {
    out.println("<br>ERROR: Could not connect to database<br>");
    out.print(e);
    Statement stat = null;
    try {
    stat = conn.createStatement();
    the problem is stat = conn.createStatement(); which throws a NullPointer exception(error 500)
    why is this the case, isnt the connection already running, when it comes to this line?
    I dont understand it quite..
    Pls could you help me?
    Regards
    maz

    stat = conn.createStatement();I guess that's because your conn==null. Make sure your dbURL value can build a correct connection.

  • Hub broadband connection problem - requires regula...

    Hi,
    We've been having problems with our connection. Often the hub stops broadcasting wirelessly (and will cut out over LAN as well), but all of the lights remain blue on the hub. Weirdly enough, the network still appears as an available WIFI/LAN connection, but any computer that tries simply can't connect to it. The only way of solving this is to reset the hub - otherwise
    We've had a new hub, 3 engineers come round and tell us that "The line's fine, everything at the exchange is fine, you should be getting 7-8 mb/s.", and not to mention hours and hours talking to BT's call centres in India.
    Still we have to reset the hub sometimes up to 20 times a day.
    I have absolutely no idea what the root of the problem is, but there is a recurring theme as to when it's more likely to cut out:
    When you download 2 or more files at a time (and I'm not talking about illegally torrenting stuff)
    When more than one person is connected to the hub
    When it's plugged into the main socket (?????????)
    Apart from the last one (which doesn't make any sense whatsoever), it seems that whenever the line is in heavy use, the hub stops broadcasting.
    All my friends with various other providers (to the best of my knowledge) haven't had any problems like this, and I will definitely not be renewing my contract with BT.
    In the meanwhile, does anyone have any suggestions? We've tried changing the channels.
    Here are the stats from our ADSL line (just running the bt speedtester at the moment, will post up results when it's done):

    At the moment we are running it through one of the extension sockets close to the main socket - however when the hub is plugged into the main socket the connection cuts out even more frequently than it would in the socket we've got it in at the moment.

  • Broadband connection problems only 7am-8am everyda...

    Hi,
    I have Broadband and a BT 2.0 router. I thought at first it could be wireless signal problems so brought myself a BT 500 hard wired extender and now plug via Ethernet cables only. I have great broadband anytime of the day everyday apart from 7am-8am when I need it most for work emails etc and it drops out or just dies to a painful slow speed to local only!..
    I have this problem every day without fail and at the same time everyday, it drops connection. I live near a large industrial estate and wondered if this would be putting stress on the local exhange?
    This pic is what comes up or I get the usual no broadband page. I am getting a little fed up with it and don't really want to go to another ISP if I don't have to.
    Any help appreciated or anyone else getting dropouts this time?
    Thanks

    could you please post your hub stats when the connection is working normally that sort of fault is very unusual

  • WSDL data connection problem, error attempting to read from file...

    Hi, I got the exact same error messsage as described in this thread:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3136286#3136286
    I tried all the suggestions in the thread, but nothing worked.
    My process is like this:
    At the process initiator step, it uses form "A" (and Webservices calls work perfectly there),
    the initiator fills up form "A", "Complete"s it,
    and it goes to the next person, where it uses form "B",
    and Webservices calls fail to work from the form "B".
    However, when I replace form "A" with form "B",
    that is, use form "B" at the initiator step,
    the Webservices calls on form "B" work just fine.
    Any idea why this happened?
    thanks.

    I found a solution to this.  The 'DataDescription' elements in the data XML are the cause of the problem.  Apparently Acrobat/Reader is not able to handle the elements from form 'A' when loading that data into form 'B'.
    My solution was to modify my process to:
    1.) Create an xml variable (call it 'xmlData')
    2.) Create an XDP "wrapper" by setting the value of xmlData in a 'Set Value' operation.  Since my top-level form element is called 'TopLevelFormElement', my "wrapper" (the value for 'xmlData') was:
    deserialize('<xdp:xdp xmlns:xdp="http://ns.adobe.com/xdp/" xmlns:dd="http://ns.adobe.com/data-description/"
    xmlns:impl="http://adobe.com/idp/services" xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
    xmlns:xfa="http://www.xfa.org/schema/xfa-data/1.0/">
    <xfa:datasets>
            <xfa:data>
                <TopLevelFormElement>
                </TopLevelFormElement>
            </xfa:data>
        </xfa:datasets>
    </xdp:xdp>')
    3.) Copy the form data from the original (call it 'originalXmlData') to 'xmlData' by setting this mapping in a 'Set Value' operation:
    //process_data/xmlData//TopLevelFormElement  = /process_data/originalXmlData//TopLevelFormElement
    4.) At this point, you have a set of data (xmlData) that contains all of your form data but is free of the 'DataDescription' elements that cause problems.  Pass 'xmlData' into form 'B'.
    5.) Data should be processed as expected in form 'B', and web service calls should be operational.

  • Broadband connection problems - IP4V address not m...

    After 2 telphone calls to tech help & 1 very loooong online chat I'm no further forward to solving my problem - so hoping that somebody here can assist please. I only returned to BT last month and one  PC that is connected to home hub via TP Link AV500 powerline will work for a day or so and then randomly disconnects and is very hard to get reconnected again (usually invlves resetting home hub & powerline + much switching on /off) Took 3 hours today to reconnect. It transpires that the IP address on the PC is different to the BT one & nobody so far has shed any light on how I can put this right. Have been through a number of basic diagnostics with the BT tech helpline ie: disabling/enabling settings etc but no joy. If any one can help please that'd be fab.

    Do you mean the local (LAN) address on the PC is different?
    Have you set up your PC with a fixed address on the LAN (in network configuration) rather than with DHCP?
    That could be what is causing confusion; especially if the fixed address is one that can also be allocated as a dynamic address by the HomeHub.
    Most powerline adaptors just act as switches and don't have any extra routing capabilities (such as NAT or DHCP).  If your powerline does have such options try turning them off and leaving all the address details to the HomeHub.

  • Re: RECENT RECURRENT BROADBAND CONNECTION PROBLEMS

    I am experiencing a similar problem. The help / customer service offered by BT does not appear to recognise an intermittent problem at their exchange. Last time this happened I changed supplier. The BT fault process only appears to follow a set script.
    Any Ideas on how to get through to an engineer to discuss the problem properly will be useful.

    you cannot contact an openreach engineer direct as you are not an openreach customer - they only deal with ISPs who are their customer
    the thread you posted on was solved and almost 4 yrs old so I moved yours to start your own thread

  • Broadband connection keeps dropping, often without...

    Equipment:  I have an ancient hub (curious-  do we get updates to these or do we just have to make do for years on end?), the first black one which is curved and it has been fine since I got it from a friend some years ago to replace the dinosaur white one BT supplied me with the day I got Broadband.
    It is plugged directly into the master socket via a filter which has the only other other piece of equipment on it- a phone.
    The Problem:  Since about the time I had the BT Talk function turned off (December 2013) the Broadband connection (not the Wifi) has been dropping daily.  After that date I noticed that it would drop just whenever I got a call on the landline phone.  I didn't address it then because I get perhaps five or six calls a week on my landline and so it was not noticable or an issue.
    But tonight it even dropped after just a few seconds in a Google Hangout;  something I was able to do last week without problem.  I am assuming it is because of the talking, as it must be similar to Skype etc?  In total it has dropped randomly about 7 times and 6 or so times during the Google Hangout which I had to abort.
    Summary of problem:  Basically it is as though the removal of the BT Talk triggered the Broadband connection problem which is increasing in frequency and severity.
    Actions taken:  I have power-cycled, checked that I don't have a buzz on the phone-line, unplugged, checked and replugged the two cables (power and phone cable to hub).  They are not damaged/loose/wet/different from normal.  I have also used the trouble-shooter online at BT.
    Aside:  What I can say is that over the years I have had horrendous problems with total loss of Broadband/telephone and even worse service with BT constantly blaming my "equipment" for the problems and every single time it turned out to be their equipment or even their engineers at fault (one simply unplugged us at the junction and gave our line to someone else and, though, I reported it within minutes of it happening and why, it took days for them to undo) so that I am not entirely surprised that something is amiss.
    Question:  I am hoping someone here has an answer so that I don't HAVE to phone yet again (I have spent in excess of 60 hours on the phone with BT over the lifetime of this service with 37.5 spent to resolve one incident) or, worse, get billed £480 for nothing.  DOES anyone know what I can do to sort this?  Does anyone know what is wrong?
    Please and thank you.

    Thank you for your reply john46.
    It sounds like a possible high resistance joint have you tried connecting to the test socket and see if that resolves the problem it will also remove the risk of any charges when an engineer attends as they will have to to resolve the problem
    Yes.
    The only thing I haven't done is tried another filter.  Will try that tomorrow.  However- it does seem awfully coincidental and nothing has changed here with the hub sitting less than four inches from the master socket as it has always done.
    Then again it could just be that the hub is not up to par and the removal of BT Talk might just have been its death knell (mind you- I didn't even have a BT Talk phone any longer- that would have been with the first hub at the princely sum of £70 which never worked due to our line just being too "poor" or something very technical like that).
    I am not sure where you have got the figure of £480 from as you will only be charged it the fault is found on your internal wiring or equipment
    I didn't "get" the figure of £480 from anywhere.  BT did.  They charged me £240 for something which was their fault because the lass, allegedly in Bangalore (I grew up on Pondicherry, not too many miles away), misunderstood syntax and presumed to bill me for something the engineer already determined was not my responsibility.  And when I telephoned to tell BT that I had been billed in error her colleague billed me again instead of refunding me:  £240 + £240 = £480
    It took an inordinate amount of patience on my part to explain this to a third BT customer service person as they (naturally) refused to believe me when I reported their colleagues' errors.
    Had it not been for the 36.5 hours previously spent troubleshooting another problem for BT staff (38 of them- I have all their names and various flights of fancy written down somewhere) I'd have thought I was imagining things.
    And so, when the engineer unplugged my line and blithely connected it to a new house in a junction box three miles down the road (as the better half was driving by no less) and we were able to give BT the time and location of where the "problem" authored from, which still only led to an engineer having to be sent to "investigate" the fault at our end some three days late-  I was no longer capable of surprise.
    It is why I thought to ask if anyone had any experience with connections dropping out here first.  Might save me my last marble.
    Well- it was worth a try.

  • Trying to update iPod software; Connection problems.

    Okay, so I have the iPod Touch 4th Gen, and when I plugged it into my computer, iTunes said that there was a iPod software update available. I've tried several times to download the update, but every time I try the same thing happens: It only downloads a few hundred KB of it, then it stops there, and the remaining time displayed keeps going up until it shows up to 24 hours or more, and finally, an error message comes up saying it couldn't complete the request because of connection problems. (error = -3259)
    On a similar note, when downloading songs from iTunes, I constantly have to pause and resume them in order for them to fully download. Otherwise it just stops where it is.
    However, I can still connect to the store just fine, with only a very few timeouts here and there, but those are easily remedied by re-visiting the page I tried to view.
    So, clearly I have some sort of issue with my connection to iTunes. Can someone please help me?

    care to share what the other way to download it is??
    My boss has an ipad, last week he downloaded the 2 entire seasons of 24, and a season of Rescue Me with no problems at all, now he's trying to download a movie and he keeps getting this error. If those shows downloaded just fine why won't the movie download? Our Windows firewalls are disabled by Group Policy so that's not the problem... and our security software hasn't changed since last week when he successfully downloaded those shows so that shouldn't be the issue either. We don't use proxys. He's wired to the internet so it's not a wireless timing out on him issue. He's on the latest version of itunes. He's logged out of itunes store, shut down itunes, and relogged in... same problem.

  • The connection was reset while page was loading Error 101 help

    When loading certain websites, all browsers and all computers, I receive the following error message: "Error 101 (net ERR_CONNECTION_RESET) The connection was reset." & or: "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." Anybody know what this means?

    I'm not having problems wit visiting the link that you provided.
    The "The connection was reset" error message can be caused by a bug fix for the BEAST (Browser Exploit Against SSL/TLS) attack that the server doesn't handle.

  • Broadband Speed and Connection Problem

    Since the 03/03/11 I have has problems with the speed and stability of my broadband connection.
    The IP profile of my connection has now become significantly smaller than my downstream, suggesting that my line had become unstable.
    I have checked the internal wiring, the micro-filters and the router, and changing any combination of these does not re-stabilise the line nor offers any speed improvements.
    The downstream listed below has gone down over the last couple of days, once again suggesting a line fault somewhere.
    I have contacted BT support about this issue via email.
    If anyone else has any ideas of what I could try to help sort this out, I would be very thankful
    Hopefully I have provided enough information below to allow any sort of diagnosis to be made, but I'm placing my bets on a line fault caused by the bad weather lately.
    Speed test (via speedtest.net) gives the following values: (Download: 14.2 kB/s) (Upload: 35.8 kB/s) (Ping: 492ms)

    Hi
    results from the BTlineTest
     Download speedachieved during the test was - 109 Kbps
     For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 50-250 Kbps.
     Additional Information:
     Your DSL Connection Rate :3584 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
     IP Profile for your line is - 135 Kbps
    No idea why it says "135 kbps" as im obviously getting nothing near that.
    One example is "counter-strike" online multiplayer game, when i load it, my Latency is at a normal 40-50.. then it shoots up to 5-600, making it unplayable.
    Maybe its the exchange i dunno, might just sort it-self out in the next couple days, but its been 3 days now so im a bit concerned.
