Broken Charger for ibook g4

So my friend who just got back from basic for AF gave me his ibook g4 only problem is that he hasn't had it working I take a look and find that the charger is broken. Not only that but part of it is still in the unit on the computer. Can anyone help me out here?

It will likely take both a new adapter and replacement of the power input (DC-in) board, since usually when the adapter tip breaks off in the computer, it damages the power input board.
_DT&T Computer Services_ will repair it for $145. Click on the "Inverter Cable or Board" tab (an error in their website navigation, but, as of this date, that's where it is).
Good luck.

  • Charges for iBooks Author Developers

    Dear All,
How do I charge my iBooks Auhtor Developers and How do I price my book ??
    Here are the details below:
VOLUME: I have volume of about 20 Maths and Science Books each books has a pages of about (~300-375) which are Print PDF.
PROCESS:  Planned to recreate them using iBook Author by flowing page by page ( I don't see any better process to automate the PDF content to flow with in  iBooks Author).
ENHANCEMENT: Using best designer/content presenter to add widgets.
HTML 5:  Adding best interactivity function using HTML 5.
ESTIMATED PROJECTION & PRICING: I usually charge Per Hr for programmer, developer and designer for which my competition charging in Pages; so this time I am planning to charge by per page(Print PDF) development - total page goes about 375 page X 20 books = 7500 Pages.  Whole project comes to around USD 93000.00 ( USD 12.5/page) in 25 Working days.
Please advice. Either I need to redefine Process or Pricing – Else the estimation is Okay.
And Kindly let me know the price for my Apple text books(375 pages[Math or Scienc]).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

USD $12.50/pg for an interactive math/science book ($3750.00) seems low. An iOS App with that much content could cost from three to +five times that amount... If you are looking at a project with multiple books, it might be fair - round up to $100k.

  • Broken Charger In iBook

The other i realized that my charger got stuck inside of my iBook g3 and i was wondering what is the specific name or serial number for the charging port (the thing you place your charger into) and on average how much would it be to fix it and to buy one

It's called the power input board (or DC-in board).
It costs $145 plus shipping to have it replaced at +DT&T Computer Services+ in Fremont, California.
It's $118 plus shipping at MicroDoc in Eugene, Oregon.
If you think you can do it yourself, macrecycling.com has the part for $14.95 plus shipping.
It can be bought for $29.95 plus shipping at iFixit.com, and they have online instructions on how to do the repair:

  • Car charger for ibook

i cant seem to find one anywhere on the sight, can you please give me an URL for the ibook car charger...Please?

I have a charger from iGo (http://www.igo.com) called the juice70 that plugs into a wall, or an airplane, or a car. It works my 14" iBookG4 quite nicely, but won't quite keep up with the power needs of my 17" PowerBook. To charge it in the truck, I have a charger from Kensington. (http://us.kensington.com/html/6612.html)
I also have an inverter in each of my trucks. I use one of them to run an Airport Extreme and an Epson C86 printer. I find it a bit less efficient to invert 12v DC into 120vAC in order to convert it back to 12vDC. If you need an inverter, by all means get one, but if you need a 12v power supply, get one of those!

  • Faulty Charger for 8520

Hi. I have a broken charger for my Curve 8520. Tesco my service provider only guarantee the accessories for six months. They told me to contact RIM as they guarantee them up to 12 months. Can anyone help me find the correct way to contact someone, as I am finding the website very confusing. I emailed [email protected] and just got an automated reply saying to look on the website..arrrr Any help gratefully received

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
The person you spoke with at your service provider is not correct. RIM services no warranties directly...none. All warranty service is provided via the service providers...who can escalate into RIM for situations they cannot resolve. You have no free method by which to request any service direct from RIM...none. Only via escalation from your service provider can you receive such assistance. So, go back to them and instruct them to escalate your case until you receive the appropriate response.
    Good luck!

  • Bought battery for ibook G3 but won't charge up?

Hi, my original battery for my iBook G3 600 was almost dead so I bought a replacement. I have been using the battery only for about a week now & charged it up only a few times. Everything was fine until last night.
I put the ibook to sleep until this evening, when I tried to boot up I got nothing? There is a slight wirr in the background but no screen?
I decided to test the iBook with my old battery as there was still a little life left in it. The ibook then booted up no problem?? I dont understand it?
Can anyone help me with this problem? Be much appreciated...

The green light means the battery isn't charging. When everything is running right, this means the battery is charged but when things aren't working right, it simply means the battery isn't charging (for whatever reason).
These are the four most common possibilities when the battery will not charge:
    (1) there is something wrong with your battery
    (2) there is something wrong with your power adapter
    (3) there is something wrong with your power input board (the part that contains the port where you plug in the adapter)
    (4) there is something wrong with your logic board
In your case, since you've already replaced the battery, eliminating it as the problem, it is likely either a bad power adapter or a bad power input board.
Do you know someone with a known good adapter, or could you take it in to an Apple Store to have them check it out to see if another adapter will charge the battery?
The power input (DC-in) board (the part of the computer which houses the adapter port) may be going bad if it sometimes will charge the battery and sometimes won’t. Sometimes it will work intermittently before quitting entirely. When a DC-in board quits working, the computer will run fine from the battery, but won't run from the adapter, and the adapter will no longer charge the battery. To diagnose a bad DC-in board, you need to make sure it isn't the battery or the adapter at fault by swapping out first one and then the other, If it runs from a known good charged battery okay, but won't run from a known good adapter, then you are going to have to replace the power input board.
Usually, if it is a logic board problem, the iBook simply will not run from the battery. This happened to mine. The battery showed up in the battery status indicator. It was recognized by the computer and charged by the adapter (as shown by the battery status indicator). However, when I unplugged the adapter from the iBook, it was just like pulling the power cord from the wall on a desktop. The iBook immediately shutdown. Dead.
My husband’s problem was quite obviously the power input board because the adapter tip had broken off in the port. Often (and, sadly, in our case), this damages the power input board so that it no longer functions, necessitating replacement of the board as well as the broken adapter.

  • Where can I find a power charger for my G3 ibook

Just broke my 4 year old g3 iBook power charger by walking into the cord and snapping it off at the power source. Where can I find a replacement power cord charger for this 750pc G3 iBook?

There are third party choices for an adapter, also:
    MCE Technologies
    http://www.madsonline.com/index.html?
    MacAlly adapter at Amazon.com
Micro Accessories adapter at Other World Computing
Apple's is the only one with the glowing ring to indicate charging status, though, and can be found here:
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?productLearnMore=M89 43LL/A
I believe the one from Other World Computing is one of the sturdiest of the lot. The MacAlly adapter's cord is a bit flimsier than the one from Other World Computing, but both are working fine on our iBooks. We haven't tried the pricier ones.

    Hi Peggs,
    Try this:
Open your iBooks app on your iPad
Select the Store Button at the top
    Select Purchased at the bottom
You will see your AppleID on the right at the bottom, then Redeem, then Support
Click on your Apple ID, and when the AppleID window comes up with the options, Sign Out
Then Sign In again and try redownloading your book
    Hope this helps!

  • Charger for older iBook

I need to buy a new charger for my friend's older iBook (over 5 years old I am pretty sure) but I don't know much about it. The cord frayed at the end that plugs into the computer so I think it requires a full replacement. I don't know what model iBook it is, just that it's old and doesn't use MagSafe. Will any non-MagSafe charger do or does it need a specific one? Thanks.

You need to determine which iBook it is.
Is it one of the older, colored ones or is it all white?
If it's one of the all white ones, the _adapter for the iBook G4_ will work for a white G3 iBook (the ones with two USB ports), too.
No iBook can use the newer MagSafe adapter, though.

  • Sent broken phone back, now getting charged for it!

So here it goes: I purchased an iPhone 4S for my son for Christmas.  It arrived on 19 Dec 2013 and I wrapped it and put it away.  When he opened it on Christmas Day, the phone would not work.  Setup would not complete and I received a "corrupted" message.  To Verizon's credit, they were available that day to address the issue and send a new phone on the following business day.  Of course, I'd already thrown the package (and return label away) so I could wrap the phone box (big mistake) so I went online to print out a return label through myVerizon.  It allows TWO attempts, each giving a different tracking number.  Of course my printer was on the fritz and neither printed so I called customer service to have them mail me a new return label. Rather than send a new label, I was instructed to use the prepaid return label from the newly received phone.  I complied and dropped off the package at the nearest pack-n-mail store the first week of January 2014 and thought nothing of it.
That was until I received a bill for the "never received" broken phone.  Naturally, the tracking numbers Verizon provide are dead and were never used nor do they have any record of the ACTUAL tracking number or service (USPS or FEDEX) of the label I was instructed to use.  Since these are prepaid, they are drop and go - no receipt, no scanning, no nothing.  Never had a problem in the past.  Now I have a $449 charge for a phone that A) was broken, and B) I sent back.  I've been a customer for more than 7 years and have purchased most of my phones through them.  I know they are the most expensive service but they also have the best coverage.  Now after reading this post and others on the interwebz, I'm seeing a pattern: they may or may not have received the package in their warehouse, however, due to the inherently flawed return process they use, most customers are not given proper return labels to insure against lost articles.  Instead, they lay the burden of proof on the customer without recourse, i.e. hold the charges until issue resolved.  How am I supposed to ping USPS and/or FEDEX without a tracking number?  Mea culpa I didn't write it down, but really?  I thought with the highest rates in the industry and largest customer base, Verizon would be more committed to customer satisfaction and have remediation protocols in place that actually put us first.  It seems they are more concerned with the bottom line after all.  I will begin phasing out my plans and moving to another company that is committed to superior service and do not make customers feel like thieves.  They won't feel the loss of my 4 phone lines but maybe one day they won't be #1 anymore and realize why.

Thanks for the reply.  I did receive a tracking number however the USPS site has no record from acceptance to delivery.  You yourself have said numerous times they have the worst record.  I know there was no "scan in" of the package and, thus, no record of its movement through the bowels of USPS.  No worries.  I assumed I would eat it but have never received so much run around with VZW, one rep telling me a supervisor would credit it and another saying it's my responsibility to go to USPS and file a claim.  After perusing this board, I'm not the only one that made the same mistake of A) not getting a receipt or B) keeping the tracking number.  However the result is the same: not returned and charged regardless of "evidence."  I appreciate your candor and help but feel this occurs more often than happenstance. I would think you would agree since you post on each and every thread of this subject.  There's more here than just lost in the mail.
I tried to remediate.  I even offered to pay for the phone on a payment plan but their billing would not accommodate.  Like I said, I value customer service and satisfaction more than the cost.  Maybe it's just time to try somebody else out.  Who knows?  Maybe I end up coming back!
    Keep up the superior work.
    Cheers.

You're not asking any question so I'll just ramble.
You may have permanently damaged your iPad.  The iPad controls the current coming from the charger but the charger electronics must be capable of responding to the iPad.  Charge with a known good charger and then test your iPad.  If it's OK, you lucked out.  Otherwise...  If the charger was not an Apple charger, you're completely out of luck.  If it was an Apple charger, call Apple and discuss the issue with them.
