Broken session

I've got a problem when running my internet application on
Oracle App. Server 1.0.2.2.1 in SSL mode. Clients are
IE 5.0, 5.5 and 6.0. The application uses more instances
of web browser at the same time (using the same session).
In non-secure mode, everything is ok. In ssl mode, session
is sometimes broken.

  • Broken Session Problem

    Having learned how to use sessions recently. I thought
    eveything was going ok.
    But for some reason the session is not working or the code
    has been broken somehow.
    I have not edited anything in the section where the session
    info is.
    What my session does is check if logged in = true and
    displays the visitors username with welcome before the name.

    You seem to be doing things in a very roundabout way. Both
    header.php
    and login.php include db.php, and both of them call
    session_start().
    Also, your code to display the welcome message displays the
    name only if
    $_SESSION['logged'] is *not* true.
    You don't need header.php at all. You simply need to create a
    session
    variable for the username at the same time as
    $_SESSION['logged']:
    //declare two session variables and assign them
    $_SESSION['MM_Username'] = $loginUsername;
    $_SESSION['MM_UserGroup'] = $loginStrGroup;
    $_SESSION['logged'] = true;
    $_SESSION['sessFirstName'] = $_POST['username'];
    Then later:
    <div class="userWelcome"><?php {
    echo 'Welcome '. $_SESSION["sessFirstName"];
    } ?></div>
    Note that the condition looks like this:
    if ($_SESSION['logged'])
    You had this:
    if ($_SESSION['logged'] == "true")
    That means: if $_SESSION['logged'] contains the string,
    "true". However,
    $_SESSION['logged'] doesn't contain a string; it's a Boolean
    (true/false) variable.

  • Can I reconnect to a GUI session after network disconnection?

    Hi,
    I have the following scenario:
    1. I have a SAP GUI (720) session open, e.g., transaction SE80.
    2. My network connection/VPN goes down. The SAP GUI session terminates with the message:
    "<SID>:connection to partner '<host>' broken..."
    3. I fix my network connection and logon to SAP again
    4. The dialog box "Lisence information.." gives me the option to keep other sessions
    The question is if I can keep the old session (it shows in SM51) and reconnect to this, so that I can continue editing the screen I was working in?

    Hi,
    I don't think that SAP would provide session reconnection since when connection is broken, data which has not been saved yet will be rollback.
    For session which is showed to you when you are logging again is broken session and it's zombie session. You can kill those session since this no use and wasting your memory resources.

  • [solved] can't ssh AWS EC2 anymore - iptables flushed

    Hi,
    I killed a AWS's EC2 connexion by flushing iptables on server side, can't connect anymore.
    I connect to an Amazon's EC2 instance (with Ubuntu) mainly as a proxy, from a linux system based laptop, to go through an university's firewall.
    (For a heads up, I do have some experience with sysadmin on linux, however not that much with network (close to none). I could be qualified as an "aware beginner". As a mean to get some experience with network, a friend of mine, who is most skilled, suggested to use, and helped me to set up an Amazon EC2 instance.
    I get a connexion by pulling a ssh tunnel on a terminal:
    ssh -i key.pem -D 8080 -p 443 -o 'IdentitiesOnly yes' [email protected]
    However for the tricky part,  the university's firewall blocking ssh too.
    I could get over it when I eventually setup "stunnel4" to encrypt the whole connection with ssl (found it myself, with some luck in research).
    (Installed it when I had the chance to find a proper connexion, which are rare: I found most of hotspot restrictive in that case).
    So, it worked well for a while, until I wanted to set up a p2p system (don't laugh guys! It is mostly for study purpose: I needed to down/upload geology maps, which are huge, the firewall always shut our long transfers down, my professors and me).
    I tried rtorrent on the server, it worked well.
    But because the EC2's 8GB were not big enough, I needed to setup another p2p tool from the laptop (went with Deluge), going through the EC2. For this reason, I opened a range of ports on the Amazon board's security groups (56880-56890, tcp and udp), and added them to iptables, both on ubuntu and laptop, and setup the software accordingly.
    # iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 56881:56889 -j ACCEPT
    # iptables -A INPUT -p udp --dport 56881:56889 -j ACCEPT
    However, because it still did not work, I asked for help to this friend. He told me I set up the software wrong, and suggested me to flush iptables. So, I did it recklessly,  on both laptop and EC2'ubuntu.
    # iptables --flush
    Of course, doing so killed the connexion to the EC2. There, I could not connect to the server anymore:
    ssh: connect to host xx.xxx.xxx.xxx port 443: Connection timed out
    Trying to fix it, I found this post, but I faced two difficulties I can not get over with during the process.
    1st, on the Amazon EC2 board, after I created a temporary instance, I went to stop the broken instance (i-08091d4b: ok),
    detached the broken EBS volume (ok) ,
    in order to attach it to the temporary instance (i-64402427: not ok).
    I couldn't because the two EBS are supposed to be on the same avaibility zone, which I couldn't setup.
    Therefore I couldn't attach the broken EBS on the temp instance.
    (I tried then create 2 others temporary instances, in order to check if I could set this avaibility zone).
    2nd, I anticipate the fact that the temporary instance doesn't have the "stunnel4" system deployed (software, settings and key), then I won't be able to connect to it anyway.
    Is anybody faced similar situation? What can I do to fix the situation?

    Thanks for your reply.
    Unfortunaly, I can't have a physical acces as it is a virtual hard drive somewhere.
    As the tuto suggested, I tried also to just reboot the session, hopping the iptables would just reset afterward. It could have looked like what you say about "only partialy resetted the firewall". But it seems really out of order.
    Edit: well, it is back online... but I don't know why.
    I played randomly with the EBS volumes: detach/reattach them, and when I tried to ssh again to the broken session, I get the connexion...

    Open a new song - deactivate the Audio core in the driver section of your preferences - open the broken session - all the plugs will be crossed out - bybass the plugin you suspect to be ****** - activate the Core and see if it works

  • Urgent:JMS AND JSP

    I am working with an architecture which has JSP pages talking to JMS message bean and in turn message bean talks to EJB, which persists the user data.
    I am quite new to JMS. My understanding is that JMS is used for Asynchronous operations. The requirement is a user can enter some data using form and the jsp page is supposed invoke a message bean which goes through other layers to store the info in the DB and should display a user An ID from the DB. How do I implement a mechanism to get message back from the Message Bean? I am using WebLogic Appserver 6.1. Please help

    First of all, you need to realize that your client and users are not the same thing. All your web requests come thru the webserver and into a certain application space, and your message queue is associated with that application, not each web user. So you only have one client to the message queue.
    Clearly you need to identify each web user in a unique way.
    Generate a sequential and unique ID for each web user and keep this is a hashtable. Remove it from the hashtable once the web user has no longer used it after a certain timeout period. If you are using Servlets then use the Session ID which is sent and received in cookies and used to link the broken session of web browsing.
    Send this unique ID with your message. And then link it back up to the original web user, once you have received a response from the queue.
    It does'nt sound like you need message queues though, since you want to return an immediate response to your client. However, look into Session.CLIENT_ACKNOWLEDGE which provides a synchronous receiver. I doubt if it will solve your problem as this works on the session level and not the message level. But check it out.
    I dunno, your question is vague, you need to provide more info.

  • Explain port clamping, please

    What exactly is 'port clamping' offered by the BT Home Hub and how can it help VPN connections?
    The comments in the advanced settings page for VPN are less than helpful: "... please try changing the port clamping setting to 'Yes' to see if this fixes your problem." Oh dear!
    Apparently the Vodafone Sure Signal device establishes a VPN connection and the BT Home Hub 2 suggests that choosing port clamping helps with VPn connections - but how? Real information of any value seems non-existent as 'port clamping' is not a term used outside of the BT Home Hub as far as I can tell.
    As far as I know, when ssh connections are requested on well-known port 22, one or more high-numbered ports are subsequently chosen through which that particular secure session is established. Would 'port clamping' be a way of reserving such ports for use by secure VPN sessions? And would this help re-established broken sessions that the VSS device is prone? Can anyone confirm this .... or that it's nonsense?

    Iain, did you ever get anywhere with your port clamping question?
    I've just installed a HH3 and my Sure Signal has stopped working - I'm searching for possible fixes and this was an area I was curious about.
    Thanks

  • CF 10 Clean Install - Sessions Broken

    Hi all,
    My firm recently upgraded to all new CF 10 servers (clean install no upgrade), and we are going through testing before we launch them in production.
    I have come across an issue where the sessions are not being maintained across requests.
    The application login functionality no longer works at all... testing the same code on CF9 yields expected and desired results.
    To test, I created a folder with an Application.cfc and an index.cfm.
    I placed a copy of the folder on the root of both the CF9 and CF10 servers.
    Loaded the index.cfm page on each and then just hit the refresh button on the browser.
    All the index.cfm page does is dump the session & cookie scopes.

         ISSUE RESOLVED:
         BKBK,
         You were correct...
         I failed to mention that the application that is dropping the session is also using the Portcullis XSS/SQL Injection prevention script from RIAForge.
         It is not listed as being compatible with CF10... removing it has resolved my issue entirely and the sessions are now being maintained.
         Thank you all for your responses.

    However, some other login process is apparently involved in the page request. That can start up a new session, if not coded properly.
    In fact my guess is that that is what is happening. In any case, this is about whether or not session is maintained. To test this cleanly, you have to exclude all code involved with the login process.

    iphone 6 screen broken. local authorized service center cannot be reached despite arranging for "schedule a call" session. pls help

    They do not know where your phone is yet because it has not had enough time to go through the process yet. I also started to worry when two weeks had passed and my iPhone 5S was still showing not received on the status website. That's when I joined this forum to see if anyone else was having the same problem. What I found out was that some people had been given reduced value for their trade in, but I also found posts from people like myself that were worried that their phone was lost and then came back and posted a week or two later that they had received their gift card.
    I decided to chill and give it some time and about a week later my gift card arrived. If it had been for less than the promised amount I would no doubt still be upset and posting about it like the many posts I still see on here on a regular basis.
    This is no doubt a popular program for Verizon. I would imagine there have been thousands of phones traded in. There are going to be at least some screw ups in the process. There is no point in getting ahead of yourself and assuming your case will be one of the screw ups unless it already is. Verizon has been consistently posting that it could take 4-6 weeks for processing. You will at some point likely hear the status on your traded-in phone. Patience would not hurt in this case.

  • CF7 Clustering - session replication broken

    Further to my
    earlier
    thread on CF7 clustering and the "network error",
    I think session replication is broken. True, I can't find any
    documentation which explains how it is supposed to behave, but this
    is what I'm seeing:
    If you have a two node cluster, and person A has a session on
    node 1 and person B a session on node 2, session variables for each
    user DO NOT appear on both nodes
    Sessions on one node will only appear on the other when the
    first node fails over
    Moreover, they will only appear when the user makes another
    request
    CFLOGIN, when using loginstorage="session" does not replicate.
    This means you have to use sticky sessions, and if there is a node
    failure, the user will have to login in again. This can be avoided
    by using loginstorage = "cookie" but this means the username and
    password are stored unencrypted in the cookie.
    Problems I have with this:
    It's impossible to have a cluster wide view of sessions. E.g.
    you can't count how many sessions you have at any one time. Any
    code that makes use of being able to dig in to multiple sessions -
    made possible by J2EE sessions - will not work reliably.
    CFLOGIN is broken. It would be better to not use it for sites
    that have to be secure as keeping the unencrypted username and
    password in a cookie is very insecure. The only way to protect the
    username and password being stored in the cookie is SSL; and that
    means that every single item on the site needs to be protected by
    SSL to stop the browser from serving up the cookie over an
    unprotected connection.
    It's not clear what is responsible for replication. If sessions
    are only replicated when an instance goes down, rather than
    continously, then I assume that the master instance of CF on each
    server is responsible for replication. What happens if the server
    crashes?

    Information about session replication can be found here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/web.1111/e13709/failover.htm#i1024620
    it contains a section 'Requirements for HTTP Session State Replication' that might be helpful to you.
    Also important to note is, how the load balancer handles session binding and the WebLogic cookie
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/web.1111/e13709/load_balancing.htm#i1026939

  • Systemd / Logind session broken?

    Hi,
    I am having problems with my standard desktop user. Several things don't work, I already posted the issue in the update-subforum. I think I might have narrowed down the issue some more and it does not seem to be update-related. Hence this new try to get help :-)
    I have been using systemd since Arch changed to it from initscripts. Since recently without problems. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Users_and_Groups/ says, that no groups are needed for the standard desktop user. But I can not mount usb storage, have no sound and no control over networkmanager. I can however start VirtualBox, although my user is not in the "vboxusers" group, my user is in "users" and "wheel" only. The page also mentions, that if things don't work, I should check https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ge … ermissions, which I did. The output of
    loginctl show-session $XDG_SESSION_ID
    ControlGroupHierarchy=/user
    ResetControllers=cpu
    NAutoVTs=6
    KillExcludeUsers=root
    KillUserProcesses=no
    IdleHint=yes
    IdleSinceHint=0
    IdleSinceHintMonotonic=0
    DelayInhibited=sleep
    InhibitDelayMaxUSec=5s
    HandlePowerKey=poweroff
    HandleSuspendKey=suspend
    HandleHibernateKey=hibernate
    HandleLidSwitch=suspend
    IdleAction=ignore
    IdleActionUSec=30min
    PreparingForShutdown=no
    PreparingForSleep=no
    There should be
    Remote=no
    and
    Active=yes
    , but there is not. If not, I should make sure that X runs on the same tty where the login occurred.
    /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc
    is supposed to be my friend:
    #!/bin/sh
    if [ -z "$XDG_VTNR" ]; then
    exec /usr/bin/X -nolisten tcp "$@"
    else
    exec /usr/bin/X -nolisten tcp "$@" vt$XDG_VTNR
    fi
    I think my X session is on the same tty session as the login, since I log into KDE (not into ttyX and then start X).
    What to I do now? Is there anything wrong? Can you lead me into the right direction?

    Archcowboy wrote:I think my X session is on the same tty session as the login, since I log into KDE (not into ttyX and then start X).
    The problem might be in the display manager you use to login, which one are you using ?  (KDM, GDM, Slim, XDM, LXDM etc)
    Either way, i suggest you temporarily boot to multi-user.target by adding systemd.unit=multi-user.target to your boot kernel parameters.
    This will bring you to console without starting the DM or X /
    login to console as user, edit ~/.xinitrc to start kde and run startx .
    Once in X, run the loginctl show-session $XDG_SESSION_ID command again (post the output) and compare with the one you posted above.
    if $XDG_SESSION_ID is correct this way (and sound etc work) , the problem is very likely in the configuration of your DM.
    Edit :
    corrected typo's

  • Sticky session without cookie is broken

    Hi,
    I need help from you guys to confirm this is something not supported by newer version of Coldfusion any more.
    Background:
    This is for a mobile on-deck site of a carrier in Australia. The carrier append an unique ID (a 10 digit number) by HTTP header to each handset’s http request to the Coldfusion server. Our Coldfusion code saved this ID in a variable called request.uid. Considering that not all handsets support cookie, we turned off client cookies and instead use the following code to tell the Coldfusion server that a CFID and CFTOKEN has been passed to it in query string. No CFID and CFTOKEN were actually passed in the query string. We just used our code to pretend a CFID and CFTOKEN were passed (the actual value was not set by Coldfusion server but externally by our code) . This code had been working for years which enabled us not to depend on client cookies and CFID/CFTOKEN in query string to maintain sessions for on-deck mobile sites. However, this code started not to work after we applied a coldfusion hotfix 2 (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/403/kb403781.html) in September on coldfusion 8.0.1. Every request will start a new session rather than stick to the same session after that.
    <cfset url.cfid = "#request.uid#">
    <cfset url.cftoken = 0>
    <cfapplication name="hww_#request.site_id#" sessionmanagement="Yes"
                    setclientcookies="No" sessiontimeout="0.1" applicationtimeout="0.1">
    Can someone please verify that the above logic is not supported by new versions of Coldfusion anymore?
    Thanks.

    OK that's interesting.  I had found your technique would not work if the value for request.uid was not numeric, but otherwise works fine (on CF 8.0.1).
    My test rig is thus:
    <!--- Application.cfm --->
    <cfset request.uid = "9999999999">
    <cfset request.site_id = "fakeIdToken">
    <cfset url.cfid = "#request.uid#">
    <cfset url.cftoken = 0>
    <cfapplication name="hww_#request.site_id#"
        sessionmanagement="Yes"
        setclientcookies="yes"
        sessiontimeout="#createTimeSpan(0,0,20,0)#"
        applicationtimeout="#createTimeSpan(0,2,24,0)#">
    <cfparam name="session.ts" default="#now()#">
    <cfdump var="#url#" label="url">
    <cfdump var="#request#" label="request">
    <cfdump var="#session#" label="session">
    <cfdump var="#CGI#" label="CGI">
    And then I hit another page in the same dir.
    With any numeric value of request.uid, sessio.ts sticks.  For non-numerics, it's ignored and CF creates its own CFID/CFTOKEN.
    Are you sure about your UID values?
