Browser based wireless authentication not renewing dhcp

Hi, I need to renew my dhcp by hand after I authenticate to the web browser based authtication system my wireless network uses.  The IT dept. tells me this is MY problem and that I need to contact apple.  Is this a known isue and if so is there any plans for a fix?
I've got a macbook running Snow Leopard.
thanks,
-tom

Strictly speaking, that should never be necessary - they have their authentication system screwed up.
However, to do it is straight-forward: System Preferences > Network > Advanced > Renew DHCP Lease
Alternatively, over wireless you can simply turn Airport off then on again.
From the command line (in Terminal or in a script):
sudo ipconfig set en0 DHCP
(replace 'en0' with the name of the network interface you are using; probably 'en0' for ethernet and 'en1' for wireless).

I have this home user with a Di-641+ Dlink wireless router not acquiring dhcp ips. This is both with the Windows or Dell managing her wireless networks.  However, it works fine in our office connecting our Cisco AP541L access points.  Any ideas or suggestions other than physically looking at the device.

    Good afternoon,
As per your post, your home user is having issues with the D-Link product, not the Cisco products. This forum serves to provide technical and presales support for Cisco devices only.
I did take the time to locate the free support number for the D-Link products: 1-877-453-5465
In light of all of this, I am glad to hear your Cisco access points seem to be working well!
    Best of luck,

  • Browser Based AIR Help not displaying in browser

    Hi All!
    Publishing with RoboHelp 8...
WebHelp generates and publishes properly to the server. Viewable, working, all good.
Browser Based AIR Help previews, generates, publishes, but won't display via IE or Safari. All that I get is a blank page instead of index.htm
Side Note/Side Issue: Project contains links to Baggage File PDF's. The links in the WebHelp version works properly. The BB AIRHelp only displays a blank page
    Any thoughts?

LOL, it was never my intent to berate you. Only to try and point out that things like this require some thinking through.
As for the "sexist overtones", those totally aren't intentional either. I facilitate RoboHelp and Captivate classes for my living. I find that as humans, we all have food in common. As a result, it is often helpful to use an analogy to better understand what is going on with things we cannot see physically, such as RoboHelp generating and publishing files.
If you look through these forums at all, you will see that I use the analogy of a Single Source Layout as being just like a recipe. The Single Source Layout Pod being just like a recipe box. And I'm always calling the SSL the "SSL Recipe". Go ahead and search. You'll be surprised.
So it had nothing to do with this post. Only that it's my preferred way of trying to help make sense of things that aren't exactly tangible.
Sorry if I offended you in any way. I certainly didn't mean to!
    Cheers... Rick

  • Browser-Based 9i OEM Not working

Have installed Oracle9i, enterprise edition on RH 7.1. Everything is working perfectly except when I attempt to use OEM from a Win98 machine. Jinitiator is installed and everything works right up the login. I type in the same username and password that works when using OEM on the server, and then nothing happens. I have included the output from the Jinitiator in hopes someone can explain why I can not run the OEM browser-based console and how to correct this problem. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Approval Workflows with Browser-Based InfoPath Forms Not Opening In Browser

    Hello,
I have an InfoPath forms document library with browser-based forms.  Once a user submits a form, I have them utilize the built-in Approval workflow.  The approval workflow emails the approver and provides a link to the document.  When they click the link in the email, it trys to download the InfoPath XML form instead of opening in the browser.
How do I get it to open the form in the browser when I user clicks the link to it from the email or the approval task in the tasks list?

  • Browser-based game suddenly not working.

    Hi,
I've been playing The West for almost a year now, and I've never had any issues. It's a browser-based game that doesn't require any download in order to play.
About a week ago, I noticed the initial load screen was taking a lot longer to load than it ever has. It would load, but would take like 10 times as long.
But now it's gotten to the point where it won't fully load at all; the green load bar in the center of the screen will load to a certain point, and then just stop and hang there, and won't move forward. I have to hit the "Hide" button in order to get into the game. Once in the game, I can't navigate the map (each new section of map you click on needs to load), and as it's trying to load it once again stops and hangs, and I have to click "Hide" again. This time-consuming process is messing up the game because it's now taking forever to be able to do anything in the game.
Once in the game, the lag has gotten a lot worse as well.
I already tried resetting Firefox to its default settings, and that didn't work. I went into Firefox on Safe Mode and that didn't work. BUT, when I use Google Chrome the game works without any problems. I don't like Chrome and want to keep using Firefox.
    What should I do?
    Thank you so much :)

I also want to add that all other components of Firefox are working just fine. I can surf the web without problems, it's just this game that's giving me trouble.

  • 802.1x wireless authentication not working via RADIUS

I've tried to implement 802.1x authentication in a windows 2012 domain environment using protected-EAP authentication. I read through guide after guide and still i am unable to get it to work. I'm confident the server side and WLC config is all correct. I have run the command debug client d0:df:9a:f6:30:40 which is my test laptop and i can see the WLC sending EAP-Request/Identify messages but it seems it never gets a reply. I have attached a copy of the debug.
Please can someone help me if possible?
Laptop > AP > WLC > RADIUS SERVER

Hmmm, peap. So PEAP requires the server be validated via a certificate trust. Did you download the WLC certificate and install it on the client (use self-signed cert), or did you install a new certificate on the WLC? In either case your client has to "trust" the Certificate Authority who signed the certificate used by the authentication device. If you use the self signed certificate you have to download the cert from the WLC and install on the client to validate the server, then the client is validated on the WLC with windows credentials or a saved username/password.
Are you trying to do single sign-on? Is the client a member of the domain? Does the user belong to the domain? Did you do the certificate stuff above? if you need to test this without validating the server (JUST FOR TESTING PURPOSES) you can go under the WLAN profile on the client chose security, settings and uncheck validate server certificate. Then on user credentials verify you are using the correct client credentials on the client and try again.
If this works the certificate is the issue, you can troubleshoot from there. You DO NOT WANT TO LEAVE validate server certificate unchecked as that can create a BIG SECURITY HOLE. Just based on your description I am leaning towards a cert issue. If you can provide more details, would be great. Screenshots of your client EAP-PEAP setup, screenshot of windows cert store showing trusted root certification authorities with trusted CA your WLC is using.
Do you ever see logs on the AD server, with login attempts? If not the client is not able to verify the WLC's certificate and therefore won't send credentials.
LDAP configuration is pretty straightforward, if you just want to test this for the first time and are having issues with just getting a PEAP client to work you can attempt with a LOCAL EAP user on the WLC to verify the client and WLC are correct then add the LDAP server as Authentication Source, just ensure your server priorities are correct if you do this.
    Hopefully this helps

  • Hospitality based wireless authentication

Looking for a solution that meets the below requirements.  I don't think I can get this done with Cisco due to cost and the APs are not Cisco but the switches are.
    1) Force authentication for all new connections to the wireless
         a) Only 1 password but each new connection has to enter that password
         b) Authentications expires after a set amount of time (8+ hours or something to that effect)
    2) Allow access to certain pages without authentication (Walled Garden)
    3) Redirects all users to a particular web page once they authenticate
We are currently using an older Nomadix device to get this done but it is going out of warranty and support at the end of the year.  Another Nomadix device is always an option but we wanted to see if there was anything better out there.
Thanks in advance.  All replies rated.

Normadix is probably what you want to stay with for what you need. I think the 3rd party software caters to this much better than a wireless vendor can. There was someone here a while back who works for Purple WiFi that has some good features also.

  • ISE; machine based dot1x authentication not working

    Hi there,
I'm currently trying out dot1x authentication with MDA. The phone is currently authenticated via MAB. I succeeded to do the same with a Win7 workstation, but now I have a problem with true dot1x auth. Whenever the client tries to authenticate to the ISE it is using the notorious "host/" prefix. I read in the ACS 5.2 user guide that there is an option to crop it. I tried to find the same feature in the ISE, but it seems there is none.
I have the authentication policy configured to use a certificate authentication profile as identity source when the method is dot1x without any additional conditions.
In this profile I tried several options, including the common name, subject, subject alternative name. Nothing helped.
Does anybody have a tip on how to solve this?
    Thanks in advance

If I understood correctly I don't need to create an external identity source when using the Certificate Authentication Profile feature.
This is what I got from the documentation:
"Certificate authentication profiles are used in  authentication policies for certificate-based authentications in place  of identity sources to verify the authenticity of the user."
I intend to use machine based authentication without contacting an external identity source.
I also ensured the root CA certificate is selected to be used for EAP-TLS authentication.
This brings me to another question.
If the CA issuing machine or user certificates is itself an intermediate CA do I have to install a chained certificate (intermediade CA+root CA) in the ISE or both CA certificates separately?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Patrick

  • Robohelp 9 Adobe Air Browser Based Help not rendering on IIS Server 7.5

    Hello everyone,
I'm having an issue where the output (Adobe Air browser based help) is not rendering properly on the IIS Server 7.5 that it is published to.
I have updated the icons in the skin, and when viewed locally the site works fine. When it is published to the webserver the new icons do not show up, and the banner does not render in the new color. The site is using the unipane adobe air browser based help template.
I've had the dev team restart the webserver twice, and for some reason the flash object simply won't update.
    Anyone else see this before?
    Thanks,
    Jerry

    Hi Jerry
If memory serves, Browser Based AIRHelp uses Flash elements like FlashHelp does. I recall a few years ago that FlashHelp had the same issues on some servers. Further, if memory serves, the fix was to ask your web server folks to tweak the server by adjusting the MIME types so it will properly serve Flash items.
Adobe used to have a KB article on this. Unfortunately, time seems to have caused it to evaporate. Grrrrr

  • Wireless authentication to a windows network

IF this is the wrong group please let me know and I will re-post...
I am trying to solve some problems authenticating to a windows network using a airport card....
I keep getting a non-trusted certificate message after/during the 802.x authentication box..We are not using certificates, at least that is what the admin tells me...so I have logged in as root, opened keychain and set the certifcates in question to trust always for all settings...I log out and then relogin as a normal network account and I still get the message which I can click continue and now I have access..
the other problem is that my home folder will not mount...I have to mount it manually through the finder..I am assuming this is because the airport network services are not running until I authenticate locally with a cached password....Is there a way to have the login window authenticate through airport so I can have my home directory mount automatically...
    thanks for your help...

unfortunately there are severla problems with the solution and it really doesn't address the issue. I can't mount the volume on the dock as it won't mount, probably because it is the server itself that has been mounted, not the shared home folder. Also it might create a conflict by having an alias to the home folder that would conflict with the auto mounted home folder when I use the ethernet as a connection source. What I have is a multi-purpose machine.
    1) I use a hardwired connect at my desk...
    2) If I need to go somewhere that a port in the wall is not active, I can then use a wirless connection which allows me access to everything I need....
What I need to do is get this working so that the rest of the area can use it as well....
So the question still remains: Does the wireless authentication not mount the home directory because it is not tied into the login window. For example, in a hardwired case I login to the system and this authenticates me and mounts my home folder. When I unplug the ethernet cable and turn on ariport and log off I login to the login window but the 802.x box comes up and asks for my password....which then brings up a not trusted certificate. Which I have tried everyhting I know to make this accepted by the system, including logging as root and going into keychain and setting it to be trusted. This DOES not work. I still get the untrusted certifcate message and the home directory does not mount. So what I need is someone who is authenticating to a windows network using wireless. I have followed all the 802.x suggestions which include using only peap to authenticate through.
I hope someone can tell me how to stop the untrusted certificate error and how to mount the home directories. It would seem that there should be some type of setting to make airport startup prior to the login window or be hooked into the login window and pas that through to the wireless authentication. This is beyond my experience as you can see...
    thanks

  • Radius authentication for the browser-based webtop

    Hiya all,
With help of the radius-authentication module for apache (http://www.freeradius.org/mod_auth_radius/) and web-authentication it is possible to use radius-authentication for the classic-webtop. Has anyone got Radius authentication working for the browser-basedwebtop?
    SSGD version:
Sun Secure Global Desktop Software for Intel Solaris 10+ (4.30.915)
    Architecture code: i3so0510
    This host: SunOS sgd1.<removed> 5.10 Generic_118855-36 i86pc i386 i86pc
I have the radius-module running for authentication of a single directory with the apache-config-lines:
    SetEnvIf Request_URI "\.(cab|jar|gif|der)$" sgd_noauth_ok
    <LocationMatch "/secure">
    Order Allow,Deny
    Allow from env=sgd_noauth_ok
    AuthName "Radius authentication for SGD"
    Authtype Basic
    AuthRadiusAuthoritative on
    AuthRadiusCookieValid 540
    AuthRadiusActive On
    Require valid-user
    Satisfy any
    </LocationMatch>
When changing the line <LocationMatch "/secure"> to <LocationMatch "/sgd"> the browser asks for a authentication and then a 'Not Found' page is being displayed.
When using the config-lines from http://docs.sun.com/source/819-6255/webauth_config_browser.html the login-page is being displayed normally and SSGD works.
The main difference I can find between the location /secure and /sgd is: /secure is a simple directory and /sgd is a JkMount to Tomcat.
Changing the JkLogLevel to debug gives the following info in the JkLogFile:

I got response from the Fat Bloke on the mailing list.
Adding the following line in the apache httpd.conf seams to help and resolved my problem:
    Alias /sgd "/opt/tarantella/webserver/tomcat/5.0.28_axis1.2final_jk1.2.8/webapps/sgd"
    Thanks The Fat Bloke !!

These instructions are for a 4.2 SGD installation using SGD's third
party web authentication with mod_auth_radius.so (www.freeradius.org).
With 4.2 Sun didn't distribute enough of the Apache configured tree
to enable the use of axps to build the mod_auth_radius module, 4.3 is
better - Sun now install a modified axps and include files, I haven't
tried this with 4.3 yet though.
I built the mod_auth_radius module for Apache 1.3.33 (shipped with 4.2)
So, this is how we got this working with Radius (tested with SBR
    server and freeradius.org server.)
Install SGD in the usual way.
    Enable 3rd party authentication:
    According to:
    http://docs.sun.com/source/819-4309-10/en-us/base/standard/
    webauth_config_browser.html
Configure the Tomcat component of the Secure Global Desktop Web
    Server to
trust the web server authentication. On each array member, edit the
    /opt/tarantella/webserver/tomcat/version/conf/server.xml file. Add the
following attribute to the connector element (<Connector>) for the
    Coyote/JK2 AJP 1.3 Connector:
    tomcatAuthentication="false"
    # cat /opt/tarantella/webserver/tomcat/5.0.28_axis1.2final_jk1.2.8/
    conf/server.xml
    <!-- Define a Coyote/JK2 AJP 1.3 Connector on port 8009 -->
    <Connector port="8009" minProcessors="5" maxProcessors="75"
    tomcatAuthentication="false"
    enableLookups="true" redirectPort="8443"
    acceptCount="10" debug="0" connectionTimeout="0"
    useURIValidationHack="false"
    protocolHandlerClassName="org.apache.jk.server.JkCoyoteHandler"/>
"By default, for security reasons, Secure Global Desktop
    Administrators can't
log in to the browser-based webtop with web server authentication.
    The standard
login page always displays for these users even if they have been
    authenticated
by the web server. To change this behavior, run the following command:"
    # tarantella config edit --tarantella-config-login-thirdparty-
    allowadmins 1
Without this, after authenticating via webauth, the user will be
    prompted for a
    second username and password combination.
    # /opt/tarantella/bin/tarantella objectmanager &
    # /opt/tarantella/bin/tarantella arraymanager &
    In Array Manager:
Select "Secure Global Desktop Login" on left side and click
    "Properites" at bottom
Under "Secure Global Desktop Login Properties"
    cd /opt/tarantella/webserver/apache/
    1.3.33_mod_ssl-2.8.22_openssl-0.9.7e_jk1.2.8/conf
    edit httpd.conf:
    ### For SGD Apache based authentication
    Include conf/httpd4radius.conf
at the end of httpd.conf add:
    Alias /sgd "/opt/tarantella/webserver/tomcat/

    # cat httpd4radius.conf

  • Browser-based authentication on E71

    Hi,
I would appreciate any advice on how to enable browser-based authentication on my Nokia E71? I am a frequent traveller and cannot access any websites on the hotel provided wifi services.
    Thanks!

You need to configure your web container to use an LDAP Realm. In Weblogic you can easily do this using the admin console.
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61/adminguide/cnfgsec.html#1071872 should have some info.
If you are using Tomcat then you need to edit the config.xml file
    http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-4.0-doc/realm-howto.html#JNDIRealm has some info.
I have configured Tomcat, Weblogic 6.1, 7.0 to authenticate with an LDAP server earlier. There are some minor problems with each of these.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can not connect with dhcp - renew dhcp lease will switch directly to manuel

    If have the following problem
I us apple Airport extreme to connect to internet.
I have 5 Macs, all connecting with airport . They work fine with DHCP. Since 2 weeks I have a problem that one computer – a mac book pro with 10.5.6 will not connect.
When I switch to dhcp and select renew dhcp lease it switch directly back to manuell. I have no chance to connect with dhcp.
    Has anyone a suggestion?
    Thanks

Wonder why Apple hasn't chimed in on this one...
Whenever you have an issue like this where it's fine, then DHCP stops working for any reason.... Reset the PRAM.
    How to:
    Apple Logo -> Restart.
After the screen goes black -> Hold down all 4 keys until you hear the third Bong.
"Option"+[Apple Logo OR key to the left of the space bar]"P""R"
After the third BONG or Apple Chime whatever you want to call it. The system's Parameter Ram or to the PC Crowd the CMOS has been reset. This resets your clock, brightness, volume, etc.... So things will get reset along the way but it also resets the IRQ and DMA stats on the logic board. Ala, reseting your Airport's Connection to the logic board, Controllers, etc.
