Browser Lab displays Firefox 3.6 and 4.0 (Windows) incorrectly

Hallo Folks,
Browser Lab displays my page incorrectly, although the page itself does not contain errors.
Instead of two containers left floated side by side, they will be displayed below each other. This usually occurs only when the page is strongly compressed horizontally.
It is very annoying that I must therefore resort to a very slow online service. Why is there Browser Lab?

Hi Diana,
At this point I can't tell whether the issue you're describing is a bug with BrowserLab or perhaps something we can solve with a possible future enhancement. If you're interested in improving the service, it would help us on the BrowserLab team if you could point us to a URL we could test to be able to see the issue you're talking about. Or, if you don't have a public url, perhaps you could email the content files to me directly ( [email protected] ).
As far as why BrowserLab exists, I know quite a few of our users do find it useful and don't have complaints about the speed. I am surprised that you call it "very slow", since our statistics show that most screenshots are rendered and returned to the client in under 5 seconds, and the vast majority of them come back in under 15 seconds. That does, of course, require a fairly speedy internet connection and no other roadblocks, so I'm wondering if there is possibly some other issue that is making it perform badly for you. I'd be happy to work through that with you if you can provide more details.

  • Browser Lab displays wrong for IE8 ?

    I am trying Browser Lab for the second time, so I'm not experienced! However BL's Flash display of IE8 (Win)  is significantly different from my own local IE8 (Win) display.
    I have screenshots but this Adobe Forum message app' does not seem to have a working "Insert Image" function (it is greyed-out) - f.y.i website I am testing is www.sebra.org.uk.
    So - there is a gif inside a Div component of my webpage which is not displaying at all (BL displays red "X" and the name of the Div) and the ribbon menu underneath is displaced by maybe 5 pixels vertically.
    Since the whole point of Browser Lab is to highlight inconsistencies in browsers maybe this is a serious flaw (if I changed my code to adjust BL's render, then my version of IE8 would display badly aligned design - I have no idea how to restore the missing gif in BL!).
    Alternatively maybe I have a glitch in my desktop system (Vista).
    Any ideas about this glitch?

  • Display Questions with Retina and VMware Fusion (Windows 7/8)

    Looking to buy my first MacBook Pro and looking to make sure I get the specs I need and have a couple of questions.
    I would like to be able to run (simultaenously)
    During the day for work:
    Windows 7 x64 - 30GB HD - 1 Core - 1GB Ram - Purpose: Has a VPN client that allows me to VPN and RDP only
    Windows 8.1 x64 - 60GB HD - 2 Cores - 4GB+ Ram - Purpose: Office 2013 installed on this VM and all my other work applicatons (light weight)
    OSX 10.10 - Whatever it can take - Light Web Browsing etc while at work.
    After work:
    Guess it doesn't matter really - i'd like to play games (bootcamp fine) if possible too. Nothing crazy so barely worth mentioning.
    My main questions:
    Display: Iris Pro or nVidia - Can the base 15 inch GPU/CPU handle the two VMs at the same time plus the host OS (OSX) without hiccups?
    Display: How does VMware Fusion recognize the discrete GPU - will the system be smooth/quiet without activating it?
    Battery life: Virtualization is pretty heavy battery wise. Does anyone know what happens to the battery when you're running a couple VMs?
    Display: How is running Windows 7/8 on a MacBook with a specifically retina display? Do the Windows PCs look really ugly/blurry due to such a high resolution?
    What is the minimum hardware required for these VMs to run fast and responsive? (CPU/GPU/RAM only)

    Sorry - we're users here, just like you, and some questions just get lost sometimes.
    The fastest hardware you can buy, the easier you'll be able to run Windows. If you use Boot Camp to run Windows (7, 8 or 8.1) the machine will run at it's best. If you want to run Windows alongside the Mac OS, you'll need to use a VM application (I use Parallels - I've tried VMwareFusion but like Parallels better and it just works best for me).
    So, to your questions:
    The Retina machine with the NVIDIA GPU will be the fastest - it's a faster processor and has more VRAM.
    Any VM is going to use resources - how much RAM, for example, is up to you. I have 16 GB of RAM and 8GB dedicated to Parallels/Windows 7 Pro.
    I wouldn't (and you really can't) run a VM for very long on battery. If you're using VM's, that's the time to plug into mains. Running a 'couple' of VM would put further heavy use on your GPU, CPU and shorten your battery life.
    I would make sure to get a good, fast quad-core i7 processor, the 2GB of VRAM NVIDIA GPU and the maximum amount of RAM (16GB).

  • Updated to Firefox 18.0 and now the windows are wrapping improperly, with more and more of the right side of the window showing up on the left as you go down.

    Updated to Firefox 18.0 on a MacBook running Mac OS 10.6. Non-static areas of the window (url & search boxes, main area of window, etc.) now display incorrectly, looking like what happens when a program thinks the image is (for example) 500 pixels wide, when its actually 512 pixels wide. Each line after the first starts with what's "leftover" from the line above it, resulting in an image that appears slanted, with what should be the right side of the image appearing on progressively more on the left side of the image. No other programs (including Safari) seem to be exhibiting this problem, and it appeared immediately after the upgrade. Minimizing the window into the Dock, then re-opening temporarily fixes the problem. As soon as I scroll the window, the problem reappears.

    I am having the same problem. the screen slants to the right making the navigation impossible, also some fields like the address bar are complely messed up-looks like a no signal TV screen. I have tried to reinstall and remove the plist file. Am using firefox 18 on a intel macbook running 10.5 thanks for any help

  • Preview in Browser and Adobe Browser Lab show website differently? Please help

    Hi...working on my first website and I have a question about the differences in viewing the site through
    choosing file...preview in browser....
    from within Dreamweaver, and using the Adobe Browser Lab to view the website.
    There seems to be a very significant difference between the two. When I preview firefox from within dreamweaver, my site is just how I want it.
    When I go to browser lab, it is...well... a disaster.
    I'm attaching screenshots of the two as well as my code, so it can show how different they are. Here is a screenshot of the website as it looks when I use the preview in browser function from within dreamweaver to view it in firefox. This is how I'd like it to look.
    And here is a screenshot of what it looks like when I preview it in Adobe Browser Lab in Firefox.
    The quote is underneath the logo, the left div text is flowing over the center div, the nav bar graphics are too narrow, the photo is hanging outside the div it should be contained in. Not what I want.
    Does anyone have any insight into how I would fix this or which version is correct?
    I'm stumped. This is my first website: shouldn't these two things be similar? And which one is correct?

    You are using % widths for your layout which means it will look different depending of the size of each users monitor. Although this is probably the better way to go these days, it is not one size fits all and will work more effectively if you include min and max widths, and also media queries that change your layout depending on the monitor size. This is more advanced coding and will take time if you want to do that. Alternatively, you could design using pixel widths and have it look consistent across all desktop browsers and throw a few media queries in for the mobile side.

    If you are looking to get the bookmarks from the Firefox browser to the Firefox on Android (and vice-versa), you can use the Firefox Sync to achieve this. You can follow the steps mentioned in this SUMO article - [[How do I set up Firefox Sync?]].

    i want to test my website in all broswer so i tried to connct in adobe browser lab i created adobe account and login to adobebroswer lab coay and past the url and get this meeage (invailed url fixed and try again)

    BrowserLab can be used directly in Dw - no need to copy the URL. Once you are in Dw and you have your main page loaded in the editing region of Dw you can goto menu bar: File -> Preview in Browser -> Adobe BrowserLab; This will launch a seperate browser window with Adobe BrowserLab. Once you are logged in you web page and related assets will be automatically sent to BL and sreenshots will be returned. You can also get to BrowserLab from within Dw via the Files panel, right click on your main page and select Preview in Browser -> Adobe BrowserLab; Finally you can get to BL via the CSLive panel.

  • Firefox and Safari browser not displaying images and text properly

    Hello,
    I am new to the support/discussion forum and previously ran Windows on my Macbook OS X 10.5.8. I switched over to the Mac OS X and am finding that the Safari and Firefox browser shows much images/text as 'squished' or not aligned properly. I suppose this is due to development and the cross browser formats are not compatible.
    However, I would like to ask if there is some display error in the system preferences or perhaps even some coding I'm not looking at to correct or fix the appearance.
    Can anyone please help me out? I appreciate it:)

    You are not using the latest Spry files
    The latest version of the Adobe Spry Framework is 1.6.1, this is the same version that ships with Dreamweaver CS4. If you use Dreamweaver CS3 (uses Spry 1.4), its wise to upgrade your files to the latest version. This can easily be done using the Spry Updater that can be found here.
    Then, if you have a look near the bottom of SpryMenuBarVertical.css you will see that the white background colour has been specified for IE as in
    @media screen, projection
        ul.MenuBarVertical li.MenuBarItemIE
        display: inline;
        f\loat: left;
        background: #FFF;
    Change the value to #CCC and it will have fixed that part of the problem.
    When you upgrade to the later version of Spry, make sure to keep a copy of the CSS file as a reference to modifying the new CSS file.

    I don't have a dual monitor setup, so I don't know whether it works in that case.

  • My 64-bit Hewitt Packard computer displays Firefox and any websites there on,as tiny or small. Why?

    Firefox is the only browser that displays all pages in a small size. I can't find any other way on the computer to increase the size. Maybe it's a conflict between my computer being in a 64-bit computer as opposed to my 32-bit computer which has no problem displaying pages correctly.

    I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
    When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
    At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
    I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

    Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
    If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to print by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar may appear under the cursor. Click the printer icon.
    Step 2
    There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
    If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
    Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
    Manage Website Settings...
    and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
    Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
    from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
    From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
    The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others — I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
    Do as in Step 3 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
    If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

  • My Firefox browser opens to a white screen and when I try to browse a website it opens a new page and is also blank

    - installed a new updates for windows last night and restarted my PC
    -When I open my Firefox browser it sits at a white screen, with nothing in the URL area.
    -When I try to go to a website it reloads says "New Tab" and doesn't load any content and stays blank.
    -running version 17.0 on Firefox
    -Running Windows 7 64-bit
    -updated patches from Microsoft on 12/12/12
    -All my other browsers (chrome and IE) still work properly.

    The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
    Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
    To Reset Firefox do the following:
    #Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
    #Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
    #Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

    Firefox sent an email to me to confirm that I had asked the above question. The email had a link to click. When I clicked it from Firefox, nothing happened. Then I opened IE, signed into Comcast, opened the email, clicked the link, and it brought me here.

    That can happen if the updater wasn't able to update (replace) all the files in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
    Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
    Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
    Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
