Browser Refreshing

I notice when building Flash sites on my Mac usually using
Safari, that when I upload an updated SWF that I usually have to
manually refresh the browser and/or dump the browser cache before I
can see the revised file(s) immediately.
I have two related questions...
(1) Is there a certain period on time after which if a
visitor has been to a specific Flash site that it will ALWAYS
automatically update the content to the latest SWFs? In other words
how is this refreshing of content on clients browsers determined?
(2) I have several customer that I have built Flash sites
for. They are all on PCs. They too constantly complain that they
cannot see my updates right after I post them. Once I step them
through how to dump their cache and refresh, they then CAN see the
updates, but their complaint is "What about my customers, they
don't know how to do this and would not even if they could in most
cases. How can I be sure visitors to my Flash site are seeing the
latest content?".

1) I do not see any such setting in any of the Mac browsers?
2) What I am saying is that if I upload a new core SWF to a
server for a customers site to make changes they request, they
cannot see their site changes on their PCs. If I tell them to dump
their cache and refresh their browser window (usually with over the
phone step-by-step instructions on how to do this - since most are
clueless), they can then see the updates I have made for them. But
like they say... none of the visitors to their sites will know to
do this since they will just assume they are seeing the most recent
version when may not be.

  • Browser REFRESH button does not return to the same iView/Page

    Hi,
    In SDN site I have seen that in whichever menu i am in, if i use the browser refresh button i return to the same page. But this does not happen on my enterprise portal.
    Can you please let me know, how to set / configure the enterprise portal EP7 such that, if am in any iview and use the browser refresh, then i am returned to the same iview / page and not to the first page of the menu. Currently in my portal, when i hit the browser REFRESH button, it takes me to the first page/iview.
    Thanks,
    Anirban

    Dear Romano,
    Thanks for your reply. With the help of the document link that you have provided, i have been able to achieve my target partially. Currently i am able to refer to the iView and Role directly using the QuickLink and when i access that particular iView & Role using the QuickLink and then do a refresh, the same screen appears. This part is working fine. But i have one issue.
    But generally a iView/Role is accessed not via the QuickLink on the browser but by clicking on the Role on Navigation Level 1. Even though this Role has a QuickLink, it is not visible in the address bar since the QuickLink URL was not used for reaching the Role. In such a situation, when we press the REFRESH button, the iView / Role is vanished and the browser returns to the first default page of the portal.
    Can we somehow make it such that whenever the Role is accessed in the Navigation Levels, it can be accessed via QuickLinks and the QuickLink URL is displayed on the address bar ? If this can be achieved, then i guess the problem will be solved.
    I hope i have been able to get across my point. Hoping to hear a positive reply from your side.
    Thanks in advance.

    Anirban Kundu.

  • Create a Browser-Refresh Request

    Hi,
    do you know an opportunity, to generate a Browser-Refresh (Like the F5-Button)?
    I have a TimedTrigger. And after x Seconds the Browser should refresh. How can I do that?

    What do you mean with "the subsequent call to wdDoModifyView()"? Can you give me a code example?
    This is my onAction-Method:
    public void onActionTimeOut(com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdEvent )
        //@@begin onActionTimeOut(ServerEvent)
        //@@end
    And this is my empty wdDoModifyView (The TimedTrigger is included in a little Popup-View without any logic):
    public static void wdDoModifyView(IPrivateTimeOutPopupView wdThis, IPrivateTimeOutPopupView.IContextNode wdContext, com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDView view, boolean firstTime)
        //@@begin wdDoModifyView
        //@@end

  • Exception when using browser refresh button

    When using the browser refresh button, there is a prompt to re-submit data. Once the user selects Retry, an exception is thrown (see below).
    The SelectBean is of ViewScope and is listed in adfc-config.xml as such. The SelectBean is used to set session attributes based user selection of a row from a af:table.
    Is this the incorrect set up? Should this be a backing bean instead? We were expecting to see a prompt of navigating away from the page (similar to the behaviour here: [http://andrejusb.blogspot.ca/2011/07/how-to-handle-web-browser-buttons-in.html] ) instead of a resubmission prompt to be able to handle a user using the browser buttons.
    Thanks!

    Try something like requestScope or backingBeanScope.

    In the top right of the media browser, there is a little icon called the flyout menu...  click it and choose 'Edit Columns'.
    Put a checkmark in the box called 'date Created'and then click ok
    Now, at the top of the media browser the columns 'Name', FilePath, 'DateCreated' should be listed.  You can sort your media by any of those columns by clicking on them.
    Not sure about bridge... maybe someone else can help you with that.

  • How to handle Back button, Browser Refresh problem at server side.

    Hi Friends,
    How to handle Back button, Browser Refresh problem at server side in java?.
    I am able to trace that,
    request.getHeader("ACCEPT") is returning value- */*
    when the browser was refreshed and returning different MIME types
    for all other actions from browser.
    I have doubt, will the above solution works always for all servers,browsers?.
    Please also specify any solution to handle back button at server side?.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Venkat..

    I'm sorry I don't think tht's the right solution for
    the above question....
    We must be aware that whatever scripting methdologies
    we either javascript/vbscript would executed @
    client(browser) side not @ server side....
    Dud If U get a good solution keep me updated.....
    THANKS & REGARDS,
    RAHULMy dear friend ...
    the bad news is that u simply cant disable or add any listener to the back button of the browser.
    When u hit the back button of ur browser the URL gets re-executed. So in case u have a JSP then the history.forward() is the best solution. [only if the page doesnt get expired similar to secure https sites]
    Now dont say that user can have javascript disabled ...those users will have a pretty touch time browsing websites since javascripts r used extensively by almost all websites.
    But in case u have an action.do or servlet call then u need to manage it using a session variable since the request will be sent to the server rather than client.
    For multiple form submittion issues read the following article in javaworld...
    Client vs. server solutions
    Different solutions can solve this multiple form submission situation. Some transactional sites simply warn the user to wait for a response after submitting and not to submit twice. More sophisticated solutions involve either client scripting or server programming.
    In the client-only strategy, a flag is set on the first submission, and, from then on, the submit button is disabled based on this flag. While appropriate in some situations, this strategy is more or less browser dependent and not as dependable as server solutions.
    For a server-based solution, the Synchronizer Token pattern (from Core J2EE Patterns) can be applied, which requires minimal contribution from the client side. The basic idea is to set a token in a session variable before returning a transactional page to the client. This page carries the token inside a hidden field. Upon submission, request processing first tests for the presence of a valid token in the request parameter by comparing it with the one registered in the session. If the token is valid, processing can continue normally, otherwise an alternate course of action is taken. After testing, the token resets to null to prevent subsequent submissions until a new token is saved in the session, which must be done at the appropriate time based on the desired application flow of control.
    for more details refer :
    http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/javatips/jw-javatip136.html
    Hope u got the idea.
    FYI I have been using both these ideas in my credit card payment gateway project. This concept has worked really well.

  • CSM - insert header source ip - lost when browser refresh

    Hi,
    inserting the client's ip address into the http header using a CSM works fine. But after a a browser refresh, the information is lost.
    Is ther any way to overcome this?
    Thank you

    do you have configured 'persistent rebalance' ?
    If yes, I would suggest to capture a trace to see what exactly occurs in the network when your browser does a refresh.

  • How can I undo the firefox browser refresh and get my old browser & settings, etc. back?

    I accidentally did the browser refresh yesterday (2-17-2015) without reading further down the page on what that would do. It of course gave me a fresh browser. The problem is I lost my customized appearance (Dark blue fox, I believe), the add-ons I really have come to really on, etc. Firefox did create a folder with the old settings. I'm not that savoy understanding how to get that folder to open, run, whatever it takes to put all the things I want back into working order on the firefox browser. Please excuse my lack of proper terminology, jargon, etc. I know enough to be confused and everything I have learned IT has come from stumbling through it over the last 15 years of having my own PC.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Please keep any solution details as plain and simple for a novas to understand and execute as possible.
    Many, many Thanks, Ottodewy

    When you reset (refresh) Firefox then a new profile is created and some personal data (bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, form data) is automatically imported and the current profile folder will be moved to the desktop to an "Old Firefox Data" folder.
    Installed extensions and other customizations (toolbars, prefs) that you have made are lost and need to be redone.
    It is possible to recover data from the old profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
    Note that is is also possible to use the Profile Manager to create a new profile.
    That way the current profile isn't moved to the desktop, so you can return to it at any time.

  • Using Cookies to make action stay on browser refresh or closed/Re-open

    Hello everyone!
    I have this peice of JQuery:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    $(document).ready(function() {
    $('#tab1').on('click',function(){
        $('ol li span').removeClass(function() {
              return $(this).attr('class');
            }).addClass('default');
    $('#tab2').click(function(){
        $('ol li span').removeClass(function() {
              return $(this).attr('class');
            }).addClass('style2');
    $('#tab3').click(function(){
        $('ol li span').removeClass(function() {
              return $(this).attr('class');
            }).addClass('style3');
    </script>
    Html:
    <a id="tab1" href="#">Sample</a>
    <a id="tab2" href="#">Sample</a>
    <a id="tab3" href="#">Sample</a>
    As you can see I simply need to apply a particular style to list in a span when a tab with the specific ID is clicked, the issue is Cookies which I do not eat often.
    How do I make this stay? If the user selects/clicks  a particular tab I would rather the style remain on refresh or browser close and if nothing is selected when the page is first visited than the default applies.
    By the way I am using ID on the link (anchor) because it is doing something unrelated to this post.
    I can find my way around applying a single style (default) but in this case there are different styles for each tab clicked.
    This I do not know.
    Thanks for reading my sob story.

    This is likely caused by one of the installed extensions and quick_start in the chrome URL should tell which extension in this case.
    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
    *Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
    *Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

  • How to recognize web browser refresh command in bsp code

    Hi,
    I have designed a bsp page on my solman system on which there are some buttons. When I refresh the web browser my last button command is executed again. Is there any way to prevent the last bsp command when I refresh the web browser.
    Regards,

    Hello Ekrem,
    I developed standard BSP (Page With Flow Logic) and I checked it behavior.
    From what I saw: when I pressed the Refresh button it didn't get into OnInputProcess method. only to OnIntialization method, so the button doesn't executed again.
    Try to clear event variables after you use it, may be it will help.
    Good Luck

  • How to handle the F5 browser refresh

    Hi All,
    This may be a very silly question, but I am stuck on this and
    can not find a suitable solution, please advise.
    I have an application where the first screen is a login
    screen, when a user logs in he is redirected to a diferent view
    based on the users login permissions etc. The problem is whenever
    we hit the F5 browser button the wrapper file is refreshed and the
    embeddd swf (flex app) is reloaded reinitializing all the
    application variables etc. This takes the screen view back to the
    login screen although the user is logged.
    How can I handle this?
    I tried using shared objects but this would meen storing
    every value in shared object. Is there any easier way out? Any
    configuration change etc.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Paromita

    You can handle security and authentication in your J2EE
    server with the web.xml configuration file under the exploded WAR
    directory \flex.war\WEB-INF if you use Flex Data Services,
    LiveCycle Data Services ES or Blaze DS.
    You specify what the login and error pages are. When you try
    and access the Flex wrapper in the browser, you will be redirected
    to the login page if you are not already logged in. If you are
    already logged in, there will be no redirection.
    Here is a sample <login-config> node in web.xml:
    <login-config>
    <auth-method>FORM</auth-method>
    <form-login-config>
    <form-login-page>/jblogin.jsp</form-login-page>
    <form-error-page>/jblogin-error.jsp</form-error-page>
    </form-login-config>
    </login-config>

  • Rotating Flash Ad Banner on Browser Refresh...

    Is there a way, using Flash 8, that I can create a Flash

  • Report row check and browser refresh

    I've selected some rows in a region report with the checkbox column.
    After refreshing the page in the browser the marking is still there on those rows.
    How can I make it disappear automatically on refresh?

    Hi,
    Try setting CHECK_ALL_FLAG to N in the branch that you use.
    Also, try changing your SQL to:
    HTMLDB_ITEM.checkbox (1,
    my_id,
    DECODE(:CHECK_ALL_FLAG,'Y','CHECKED', 'N',''),
    NULL,';'
    )If there is nothing else on the page, you could also enter the page number in the Clear Cache setting on the branch
