BRTOOLS path

When I am connected using ADMINSAP domain account and I try to run BRTOOLS, BRBACKUP.. I got the error:
C:\Documents and Settings\adminsap>brtools
'brtools' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
I have to change to the directory E:\usr\sap\MIS\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64. once there I can run BRTOOLS
I would like to know how can I set the system so I can run BRTOOLS without changing to the directory. Maybe a global setting that allow me to do that.
OS: Windows 2003 server
DB: Oracle 10g
ECC 6.0

Hi,
I am working on solaris but you have to put the path to your environment:
controlpanel - system - advanced
lower screen environmentvariables
add it to the path of the user which is running the SAP system or you are running your brtools.
Cheers,
Joerg

  • Adding data file with out using  brtools /sapdba

    Hi all,
    How to add data file to table spaces with out using  brtools /sapdba.Please let meknow.
    Satya.

    why would you do that? whats your requirement?
    You can use sql commands (I prefer doing it via brtools),
    example
    alter tablespace <name of the tablespace> add datafile '<path of the datafile>' size <size in Mb>M autoextend <on/off> next <size> maxsize <size>;
    regards

  • What are "dyld" and "brtool" and why are they breaking my Lion installation?

    I have an up-to-date Snow Leopard Server installation with software RAID, and cannot complete the upgrade to Lion Server. At the "restart" step, the installation throws an error and says to try again.
    Here's the header from the crash report:

    Any suggestions (besides "wipe the drives and don't use RAID")?

    Dear Friends
    I'm getting this same error ("... dependent dylib #1 could not be loaded") on a 2x3GHz quad-core Mac Pro with 17GB of memory. I'm installing on top of 10.6.8 on a two-drive, two-slice Apple software RAID.
    I'm downloading the Lion installer for the third time today and will try for the umpteenth time to install it. I've used another internal drive, a bootable DVD, and a USB flash drive, all to no avail.
    If anyone knows a solution that doesn't involve erasing my drives, I'd appreciate your sharing it.
    (Before I had a kid I would've installed Lion the day it was released. But now I'm short on time and waited more than six months after its release before trying to install it on our production Mac so I wouldn't encounter such problems. Hehe. I installed Lion on the day of its release on our MacBook Pro and didn't have any problems.)

  • SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE failed for BRTOOLS

    Hi experts,
    I have my SAP ECC in a distributed system (CI and DB nodes are different) on Oracle 11G/ Solaris.
    When I try to execute any action in db13, appear the following error:
    SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE failed for BRTOOLS - Reason: program_start_error: For More Information, See SYS
    I follow the SAP Note:  1974030 - How to configure DB13 to work with a standalone Oracle database in Unix/Linux
    but I continue with the error
    The RFC SAPXPG_DBDEST_HOSTDB works fine but I check in the trace of the proccess is:

    Hello Victor,
    and how the parameter gw/remsh is set, could you please check also this section in the note "10403 - Starting external programs":
    " c) If the remote shell in your computer is not called remsh
          (if you
    use a Unix 5.4 system, for example),
          you must set the gateway parameter
    gw/remsh to the correct name
          (which is normally "rsh" in such
    cases).  You may have to use the
          complete path name.  To check whether
    the remote shell is found,
          use the Unix command "which remsh" or "which
    rsh" under the
          gateway identifier."

  • ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error. Running sqlplus in different paths.

    Hi,
    Title: ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error. Running sqlplus in different paths.
    Very strange. We have windows host, 32 bit oracle software 10g, 64 bit sap kernel X64.
    We have done Kernel patch yesterday and it was successful, system up and running.
    Only problem with sqlplus. I have logged in as SIDADM user and when i open command box, the default path is C:\Documents and Settings\SIDADM. when i run sqlplus sys as sysdba, iam able to connnect without any problem but when iam in this path -   /usr/sap/SID/SYS/exe/run and run sqlplus sys as sysdba, it returns ORA-12560 error. Thats why, the BRTOOLS are also not working, giving same error.
    Is there a problem in the kernel? Where could be the problem?
    The environment variables ORACLE_SID, ORACLE_HOME are set properly.
    Many thanks,
    Mohan.

    Hi,
    Please look into below SAP recommendation from SAP note 192822:
    3. Can I run 32-bit applications on my 64-bit platform?
    This depends on the platform you are running on. For all unix- platforms, this  can be done without any problem. Even if the OS is started in 64-bit mode, it is possible to run 32-bit applications (R/3, oracle) on it. there is no need to either upgrade oracle or R/3 toa 64-bit version.
    This, however is NOT the case for windows & Linux. If you have IA64 hardware in place, you do need to run an 64-bit OS as well as all application in 64-bit mode.
    Could you please now share with me your OS (version and whether it is 32 bit or 64 bit as well), database (32 bit or 64 bit), SAP system (32 bit or 64 bit and System release) ?
    Thanks
    Sunny

    hi TA
    you could go through the link below to know how BRTOOLS works in SAP system
    Re: Reg:BRtools on distributed system
    1. Could you please let us know whether you have a distributed ( SAP and database running on different physical server) system or a cebtral system?
    2. >1. In Production BR Tools working file, so I have to setup in QA system, I just change init<SID>.sap profile path C:\oracle\BQA\database\initBQA.sap
    Sorry, I could not understand. Why did you change the path?  Where did you change ?
    BRTOOLS executables will be there in usr/sap/SYS/exe/run folder. You will find exec like brarchive.exe
    brrestore.exe ,brbackup.exe, brconnect.exe, brspace.exe etc. When you invoke the command "BRTOOLS" from the command prompt those are the executable actually work for you.
    Revert back the changes whatever you made and then invoke "BRTOOLS" from command prompt of database server ( login as SIDADM)

  • BRTools Backup

    Hi,
    Currently I am backing up my AIX Oracle DB 11g for system refresh.
    These are the steps that I have done so far,
    *Few notations that I use are SSID (SourceSID) TSID (TargetSID)
    I also taking backup to a shared drive, connected to AIX as CIFS connection.
         in the CIFS connection this is the pattern that I followed.
              shared_drive/Backup        ---> for backup_root_dir & stage_root_dir
              shared_drive/Redologs      ---> for archive_copy_dir & archive_stage_dir
    The following steps I am doing in the Source system (which I am taking the backup from)
    1) create control file (alter database backup controlfile to TRACE as '/tmp/SSID.ctrl' ; )
    2) copy out control file to pc
    3) rename system name to TSID , change the line:
    CREATE CONTROLFILE REUSE DATABASE ‘SSID’ NORESETLOGS ARCHIVELOG;
    as follow
    CREATE CONTROLFILE REUSE SET DATABASE ‘TSID’ RESETLOGS ARCHIVELOG;
    4) backup and replace initSID.sap in source system to use share drive as backup by changing following parameters:
    backup_type = offline
    backup_dev_type = disk
    backup_root_dir = Create Backup Folder and provide their path like   "shared_drive/Backup"
    stage_root_dir = Copy Same Path which you have given to back_root_dir
    archive_copy_dir = Create Redologs Folder & Provide their path like  "shared_drive/Redologs"
    archive_stage_dir = Copy Same Path which you have given to archive_copy_dir
    5) use brtools to backup source database
    6) backup and replace initSID.sap in target system to use share drive as restore by changing folllowing parameters:
    backup_type = offline
    backup_dev_type = disk
    backup_root_dir = Create Backup Folder and provide their path like   "shared_drive/Backup"
    stage_root_dir = Copy Same Path which you have given to back_root_dir
    archive_copy_dir = Create Redologs Folder & Provide their path like  "shared_drive/Redologs"
    archive_stage_dir = Copy Same Path which you have given to archive_copy_dir
    So in the above steps a few questions,
    In step 3 should I change the whole document from SSID to TSID? I mean to say all the files that are pointing to SSID should be changed to TSID or BRTools will take care of that?
    Also the backup is going to take 3days?? So does the same steps apply if I am going to do for online backup?

    Hi Guys,
    since it was the weekend I got the backup started and running.
    But it failed at 40% with this

    Hi All,

    With regards,
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
    the BRTOOLS look up the BRTOOLS-profile (init<SID>.<b>sap</b>) in the same directory where also the DB-profile (init<SID>.<b>ora</b>) should be found.
    This directory is %ORACLE_HOME%/database on Windows systems and $ORACLE_HOME/dbs on the UNIX/Linux system.
    From the error message you posted:
    BR0252E Function fopen() failed for 'C:Oracleproduct10.2.0databaseinitPR0.s
    ap' at location BrInitSapRead-1
    it's obvious, that the ORACLE_HOME environment-variable is either not set at all or set wrong.
    Please set the variable to match your installation - then the BRTOOLS will work.
    Beside:
    C:Oracleproduct10.2.0
    is the standard Oracle path for installing the software but not the SAP recommendation.
    SAP recommends to have a whole software setup for each single database instance to reduce dependencies. The SAP-recommended Oracle-Home path would therefore look like this (example):
    c:oracle<b><SID></b>102_32
    or
    c:oracle<b><SID></b>920_64
    depending on the Oracle version and bitcount used.
    Another besides: BRBACKUP 7.00 (13) is outdated. Build (22) is already available and many enhancements have been made.
    Take the advantage and use the current version!
    Best regards,
    Lars

  • Where is my EXPORT dump file ? How to do BRTools off line table reorgan ?

    Hello,
    Here was my BRTools Export output message :
    About to export specified tables via Direct Path ...

    BR0670I Enter 'c[ont]' to continue, 'b[ack]' to go back, 's[top]' to abort:
    But where is my Export dump file ?
    Besides, could you tell me the procedures of using BRTools Export & Import to do off-line table reorgan ?
    Due to some reasons, I can't do online table reorgan.

    Hi Ming,
    I noted the OSS note 646681 - Reorganizing tables with BRSPACE in my previous message, already. You don't need any additional effort such as creating script, if you use brspace as I noted in my last message.
    Stop the SAP system, but not database then execute the command, below;
    1) brspace -u / -f tbreorg -t "CDHDR"
    2) At the incoming menu steps, select --> (8 - Table reorganization mode (mode)) .. offline
    3) Then continue with "c"
    At the end of this steps, table and related indexes will be reorganized.
    You can update statistics by using the command, below after you complete the steps, above respectfully;
    brconnect -u / -c -f stats -t all -f collect -p 4
    Best regards,
    Orkun Gedik

  • Whole Offline BRARCHIVE with help of BRTOOLS

    Hi Team,
    My requirement is i have total 1,329 files in my ORAARCH folder. I need to take brarchive of all the 1,329 files at a single stretch. In my INITSID.SAP file i have maintained as
    backup_type = offline
    backup_dev_type = disk (iam copying it to a local disk)
    compress = yes
    archive_function = save
    archive_copy_dir = F:\oracle\KSM\sapbackup.
    In BRTOOLS i have choosen ---4
    then 2 but when iam using BRARCHIVE function it says it has only found 512 offline files for BRARCHIVE function.
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I faced this problem earlier.
    I took the Archive log backup two times first is for 865 files & second one is for remaining.
    I also suggest to change below BRARCHIVE parameters.
    archive_function = save_delete (It will copy the Archive log to copy_directory & delete it from ORAARCH directory.)
    archive_copy_dir = <LOCAL_DISK PATH>
    Hope this will help you.
    Thanks,
    Shambo

  • How to patch brtools (6.40 version)

    Dear SAP Gurus,
    I want to update my brtools. My current version of brtools is
    BR0651I BRTOOLS 6.40 (40)
    Patch   Date     Info
    36  2006-01-11  Small functional enhancements in BR*Tools (note 914174)
    38  2006-03-29  BR*Tools support for MDM databases (note 936665)
    40  2006-08-30  Wrong message numbers in BR*Tools 6.40 (note 976755)
    release note               680046
    kernel release             640
    patch date                 2006-08-30

    make platform              rs6000_64
    make mode                  OCI_920
    make date                  Sep  5 2006
    I want to update this brtools to the latest patch level. From several SAP Notes, I just need to download and extract the latest brtools and run saproot.sh to verivy file permission. But unfortunately, This still produce error like this :
    host:ora[sid] 1> brconnect -u / -f stats -t MSEG
    exec(): 0509-036 Cannot load program brconnect because of the following errors:
            0509-150   Dependent module libclntsh.a(shr.o) could not be loaded.
            0509-022 Cannot load module libclntsh.a(shr.o).
            0509-026 System error: A file or directory in the path name does not exist.
    host:ora[sid] 2> ls -l
    It seems that the environment cannot be load. But by using my old brtools, this config is working fine.
    Please kindly give suggestion and advice.
