bsp:parameter with syntax check?

I use subcontrollers pretty often in my application.
I usually pass parameters to my subcontrollers like this:
<bsp:call url = "blabla.do" comp_id = "id1">
    <bsp:parameter name = "my_attribute" value = "<%= lv_bla %>" />
</bsp:call>
By this, the public attribute "my_attribute" of the controller class of blabla.do is set to the value of lv_bla. This works perfectly.
However, what if there is no such an attribute in the controller class or if I rename the attribute. Of course, the syntax checker would not recognize this.
I was thinking of adding a dummy-statement to the bsp:call that would detect the syntax error
<% IF controller->my_attribute IS INITIAL.ENDIF.%>
However, obviously, my_attribute is not in the controller, but in the subcontroller class. Can I also access the subcontroller? Or are there other ways to check if my_attribute exists in the subcontroller class?

hi,
One way to access a subcontroller class is to instantiate it using create object but in this case the instance of it will not be the same one in its parent controller.
another way in a controller class there is an attribute M_SUBCONTROLLERS of type BSP_CONTROLLER_LIST  which contains Tables with Instances of Subcontrollers (it is protected type). so we can make our own attribute (public) in controller of same type and inside our controller we just fill our attribute with values from this one. this way it will be ascessible outside also.
one more way is we just instatiate the subcontroller in our application class instead of instantiating in controller this way the same instance of the same subcontroller will be accessible and we can check for a attribute existance in it.
hope this may help you,
cheers,
Hemendra

  • CS5 will not compile AS3; no AS3 Syntax Check; no AS3 Auto Format

    I had the trial version of CS5, but it expired. I bought the upgrade and tried to modify a previous Document Class from CS3 in AS3, but the Syntax Check just gives me the error beep, not the happy "ding" with the no errors popup. I try to click the Auto Format and the IDE pops up an error window: "This script contains syntax errors, so it cannot be Auto Formatted. Fix the errors and try again." No errors are in the ouput window (even with either Filter level). Document Classes do nothing even though the compilation runs without any problems; no errors, but no code execution (not even a trace("x");).
    This seems related to the "no code hinting" posts, but I've tried their workarounds, but nothing seems to get my AS3 engine working properly.
    I have removed, reinstalled & rebooted 3 times, the demo version and LWS version (which have different sized install Setup.exe ?!?!), and tried the Adobe update. I also tried using the 4.1.0 flex_sdk, but I've found no solution.
    All the code I am trying in CS5 comes from CS3 and Sytnax Check fine and Auto Formats correctly. AS2 in CS5 functions as expected with Syntax Check and Auto Format working just fine.
    My repeated Web cases through the Support Portal have been denied and they tell me to post it here. I posted to the Flash General forum, but no one had anything to say.
    I'm on Win XP Pro SP3.
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Dave,
    It sounds to me like you may need to find a clean up script after the app is uninstalled. Or you can try just a few bits and pieces or you code to start with in a new file. That's the only thing I can think of besides reformatting to clear your entire registry of Adobe Flash items. I always do a reformat of my entire computer everytime a new version of the Adobe products comes out, saves a bit of headache.

  • SQL Developer 1.1.0.21: Issues with Data Grid and SQL syntax checking

    In this new release of SQL Dev, when I execute a SQL in the SQL Worksheet and click in the Data Grid in the Results tab and try to navigate within a record using arrow keys, the grid cell enters into edit mode by default and so I cannot use the Left or Right arrow keys to navigate the grid. I am forced to use tab key to navigate. This is counter intuitive in my opinion.
    Is there any option to change this behavior?
    Another issue that I have come across is with SQL syntax checking. In some cases, when I press F9 to execute a SQL, it shows the SQL as executed i.e. shows something like 0.0134 seconds in the toolbar and no results displayed. In reality, the SQL had some syntax error which were NOT reported. This can be frustrating since now I have to fall back to SQL*Plus or TOAD just for syntax check.
    I like the fact that SQLDev highlights the current SQL but it would be more useful if it just indicated the first line of the current sql instead of highlighting the whole sql.

    In the "Results" tab, Click Ctrl & Tab keys (at the same time) or with mouse click on any cell other than the first column (a sequence or rownum), you will be able to navigate using the arrow keys.

    The 0.0134 seconds could be the result of the most recently executed successful statement. Check the Script Output tab for errors. Use F5 (Run Script option) instead of F9.

    On the SQL statement (or code), Right Click -> Format SQL (or press Ctrl & B), proper formatting would help.
    I use version 1.0.0.15.57 and seems to be working allright.

    Hi,
    you need to discuss with the basis team to increase the abap buffersize.
    there is a parameter in the transaction rz11.
    go to RZ11 and then wirte parameter as abap/buffersize
    check its value.
    if you increase it,   problem will be solved i guess.

  • ER: HTML Applet tag syntax warning - or HTML syntax checker for JDEV.

    Hi,
    I just spent ages (an hour or two) debugging an applet and it turned out that I had left a comma "," out of my 'archive=..' parameter of the 'applet' tag in the HTML :-(.
    E.g. I had <applet code="x" archive="a.jar b.jar, c.jar, d.jar"> and IE simply didn't load 'b.jar' so I got the usual 'class not found' exception. After signing every jar and putting every jar in every directory I finally noticed the commas between some of the jars.
    I can understand IE not helping me load an Applet since, from MS's point of view, that is evil Java code, but JDev must know the syntax of a HTML applet tag too so it could highlight the error for me.
    Alternatively does anyone know of a HTML checker plugin for JDEV?
    Regards,
    Simon.

    No comments?
    I've been looking around for a HTML syntax checker and there are plenty around - just google "html validation". None so far have picked up the missing comma in my busted applet tag. I guess with a missing comma it just looks like a file name with a space in it anyway.
    I still think JDeveloper could flag semantic errors like this at development time.
    Cheers,
    Simon.

  • Can we use SAMT to syntax check methods in global classes ?

    Transaction SAMT can be used to perform syntax checks on programs but I can't see how to use it to check methods in global  classes. Can anyone tell me how to do this ?
    thanks,
    Malcolm.

    I've figured out a way to do this.
    You need to put the class name followed by '=====CP' into the program name......with enough ='s to make the name up to 32 characters. Bit fiddly but it can be done.

  • Extended Syntax Check  in abap code

    Hi Guys,
    We are upgrading from 4.6 C to ECC 6.0.  When I do the Extended Syntax check for the custom function module it gives me the following error.  Please help.
    The EXCEPTION "REPORT_NOT_EXISTENT" is not defined in the interface of the function module "RS_VARIANT_CONTENTS" "RS_VARIANT_CONTENTS".  Internal Message Code: MESSAGE G-7.
    (The message can be hidden with "#EC ARGCHECKED)
    Regards,
    Shankar

    <b>Don't suppress the message. </b> You should only suppress messages if you are aware of why they are appearing, and they are not an error.
    What it means is, that in your custom function module, there is some code like
    CALL FUNCTION 'RS_VARIANT_CONTENTS'
      EXPORTING
        report                     = v_report
        variant                    = v_variant
    EXCEPTIONS
       VARIANT_NON_EXISTENT        = 1
       VARIANT_OBSOLETE            = 2
       REPORT_NOT_EXISTENT         = 3
       OTHERS                      = 4
    But if you look at FM rs_variant_contents, you'll see this exception is not defined.  The correct course of action is to remove it from your call.

  • Unused stored procedure parameters marked with a check mark in crystal reports

    Post Author: epowers0213
    CA Forum: General
    Hello,
    I have some Crystal Reports that currently use stored procedures as their datasources (I am in the process of modifying them to use datasets instead).  Some of the original reports have check marks next to stored procedure parameters which I cannot find as being used anywhere in the report.  Is this a legitimate possibility? (Some of them do not have check marks, however, so it is not consistent.)
    More Info:  I am using Crystal Reports within Visual Studio 2005.  I have looked through each report in every way I can think of to find if a parameter field is being used anywhere - I have checked all formula fields, the formatting formulas for sections and individual fields, the record and group selection formulas and the grouping and sorting experts, along with any subreports (although some of them have no subreports).
    (I have read on other forums that exporting a report definition file is another way to look for where fields or parameters are being used, but this does not appear possible within Visual Studio 2005.)
    In some cases, I have gone ahead and replaced the stored procedure datasource location with a dataset (generated based on the same stored procedure).  When I do this, Crystal automatically deletes the stored procedure parameters from the report, and I have still been able to run the modified report successfully - at least it looks ok and nothing is complaining.  So is it possible that these parameters were actually not being used anywhere on the report although they were marked with a check mark?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!  I want to make sure I am not changing the function of these reports somehow without knowing it...
    Thank you!

    Are you referencing another database that Crystal can't see? Also, you can try and copy the SQL to a command object in Crystal to see if it behaves differently there.

  • No error messages by Syntax Checker, even there a lot

    Our Design Editors (9.0.2.94.11) Syntax Checker gives never an error message, not even there are syntax errors. What can I do?

    Check your wireless router. For same strange reason my router locks up every time an iphone update is installed. To fix it, I have to disconnect it (Linksys WRT54G v.3) from my cable modem and clear all of its settings by holding in its reset button. I then have to log onto the router with the old default password (the one I set was cleared when I pressed reset) and then reset my wireless security, name, etc.. Then I restart my PC that is connected to the router and everything works again. iPhone and laptop can now connect to wireless.

  • Syntax check of code

    I am passing certain code in table itab and then doing a syntax check using SYNTAX-CHECK FOR itab MESSAGE mess LINE lin WORD wrd .The problem with this method is it check the code line by line and assign mess with the first error msg  but I want to trap all the error message of the code in itab at once in another table.
    Is it possible to trap all the error msg at once in a internal table.

    Hi,
    This is similar to what ABAP Editor sytax check does. You cannot check sytax of the "futher" code as the "closer" code may affect the "further". Unless you correct the first error you cannot therefore check if futher lines are correct. If this worked like you want it would have to correct "closer" errors first by itself, then it could check rest of the code. But how the compilator (generall meaning) would have to know what to place there. This is of course impossible. There is no such compliator doing so in none of known to me programming languages.
    You may skip this by a trick. Looping at the table with a code and checking each line of this with a check syntax. Then collect all these errors within an error table.
    Nevetherless be carefull !! You would have to place excatly one statement per line in code table. Otherwise it won't pass the exam. Moreover you cannot use any of chain statements i.e.
    write: 'first line',
            'second line'.
    ...should be replaced with
    write 'first line'.
    write 'second line'.
    Hope this give you some idea:)

  • Calling a BSP application with MVC and send one start value

    Hi,
    I developed a BSP application with BSP. The application has a start page with one input field. The user gives a number and click the send button. The controller creates the modeler and gives the userinput as start parameter for the data search. After the data are read/found, the controller calls a view to show the data.
    This is very easy and does work.
    I have to call this simply application from another one: the caller application sends the start value.
    I don't know, if is better to send the start value in the URL or not. I tried it, but the controller cannot read it.
    How can I call the controller with a start value?
    Thank you!
    Bye
    Patrizia

    Hi ,
    what you need to do is
    1) for the "Send" button attach a java script.
    <htmlb:button id="myButton" text="Submit ...." onClick="sendRequestWrapper()"/>
    this javascript should take the inputfrom the field,
    then in the javascript create the URL.
    function sendReqeustWrapper(){
    sendRequest(InputField);
    function sendRequest(InputField)
    var URL;
    URL  = window.location.protocol + "//" ;
    URL += window.location.host ;
    <b>Note: its only Example link,</b>
    URL += "/sap/bc/bsp/sap/<BSPApplication>/controller.do";
    URL +="?InputFieldName=";
    URL +=InputFieldValue;
    <b>then use</b>
    Your URL will look like:
    http://ld0507.wdf.sap.corp:50007/sap/bc/bsp/sap/<bsp appl>/controller.do?InputFieldName=XXXXX
    window.open(URL,"_self","");
    so once this URL is triggered  you need to goto the respective controller and handle the input. You can see the reply from Mr. Akshaya Rao .

  • Warning assigning 0 to BA... in ABAP syntax check on DELETE itab statement

    Hello,
    I didn't see an answer to that question in the forum/internet, nor in SAP notes, so I post it.
    I have a 7.01 system, and this code:
    TYPES : BEGIN OF ts_record,
              carrid    TYPE S_CARR_ID,
              employees TYPE p,
            END OF ts_record.
    TYPES tt_record TYPE SORTED TABLE OF ts_record
          WITH UNIQUE KEY carrid.
    DATA lt_record TYPE tt_record.
    DELETE lt_record WHERE employees = 0.
    The syntax check sends the following warning and places the cursor on the number "0" of the DELETE statement:
    Assigning "0" to "BA" could result in data loss. It is therefore not
    possible to optimize the LOOP. The components and values should have
    identical types The types have identical types
    Same thing if I make the internal table hashed or non-unique.
    The warning is removed only if I replace 0 by a data object of same type as EMPLOYEES, or if I make the internal table standard.
    Do you now why, I mean what is the intrinsec kernel algorithm that would make something slow? (and why a "data loss"?, what is "BA", is it a wrong translation or something else?)
    Thank you
    Sandra

    Hi Gautham,
    So, it would mean something like "hey do you know you could access the internal table by using = on the key fields and it will be optimized", like a kind of advertisement, but sent only in a few cases, I don't see why in other ones they are not sent... Hopefully we don't have this warning with READ TABLE. Maybe this warning is more useful in 7.02 with secondary index... ( BTW could somebody test if the warning is sent in 7.02 systems? )
    In German, I get a better message I think, so "BA" is a bug:
    Die Zuweisung von "0" nach "EMPLOYEES" ist potentiell nicht
    verlustfrei. Es sind deshalb keine Optimierungen beim LOOP möglich.
    Bitte eine identische Typisierung bei Komponenten und Werten benutzen.
    which is google-translated:
    The assignment of "0" after "EMPLOYEES" is potentially not
    without loss. It is therefore not possible to use optimizations for LOOP.
    Please identical components and typing in values.
    which seems a better translation.
    Hi Maximilian,
    you're right, <= keeps the warning from being displayed, that's fun!
    Well, I guess the warning is not very welcome, I hope that will be changed in the future!
    Thanks for your valuable answers

    HI all,
    I have declared some constants like this.
    constants: c_str1(20) value 'abcdefg,,,,,',
                    c_str2(4) value 'xyz',
                    c_str(30).
    concatenate c_str1 c_str2 into c_str.
    I am getting an error for c_str1 in extended syntax check that 'charetecter strings without text elements will not be translated'.
    I am not writing c_str1 anywhere and I just need it for concatenation.
    When I tried like this
    constants: c_str1(20) value 'abcdefg,,,,,,,'(000).
    It is showing a sysntax error that offset is not allowed.
    Please provide me the answer.
    Regards,
    Mungala.

    hi Praveena,
    do this way
    concatenate text-001 text-002 into c_str.
    double click on text-001 and text-002 and create text elements with abcdefg,,,,,' and 'xyz' values. In 4.6 and above versions .. you got to save and activate ...else just save to remove that error .
