BT FON access for subaccount holders

Hi
Firstly I will appogies if this has been asked before but I couldn't find the thread.
I have BT BB option 3 and have used BT Fon sites before with no problems over the years. Now my kids are at that age when they want to use WiFi out & about.
So my question is can the sub accounts users, i.e. the family members who have BT email addresses as part of my main account log on to FON Wifi and if so how?

As I mentioned, the BT Broadband connection authentication is not done on a username, it is done on the phone connection (as long as a correct syntax is used for the "username"). BTFon access "is" done on the primary email address.
You can happily use any BTinternet email address as the username for the usual broadband connection, only the domain portion is used.
However as you've implied that you have accessed BTfon using the same username/password for more than one connection, then that happily answers your other question for mutiple access. As to whether there's a limit, then I expect a Moderator could kindly find out.

BT Openzone & Fon Access?

Following the announcement that there is now no limit accessing the two I tried it out at home on my hub, both the openzone and Fon access points are available but I am unable to connect, iphone and laptop are not being given an IP address, both work 100% when connecting to my own SSID.
I have previously been able to connect, however this was when we were capped at so many minutes.
Fon web page still showing me as opten in.
Is this a security issue so I do not use them on my own home hub? need to ensure it works for a trip I have planned.

Take a look at the user policy settings for the web application. I suspect someone has added a User Policy that covers the user which denies all these permissions. The User Policy at the web app level is the only place where you can deny permissions.
But that setting applies to every site collection in the web application and takes precedence over every other setting.

If you are not already doing so, install from an Administrator account.
If you haven't already done so, download the iTunes Installer from:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Then right click on the installer and select "Run as Administrator." (Even though you are using an admin account).
If that doesn't work, try creating a new administrator account and installing from there.

Can we give UNIQUE ACCESS FOR THE SPECIFIC FILE IN THE LIBRARY in SP2013? How can we remove users from SHARED WITH link where files are shared with users?

Hi srabon,
For giving unique access for a specific file in a library, you can go to the library, and select the file , and click FILES->Shared With->ADVANCED, under PERMISSION ribbon, click ‘Stop Inheriting Permissions’, then the file will have unique permissions.
For removing the shared users for a file, firstly, like the above steps, select the file , and click FILES->Shared With->ADVANCED , make sure the file has unique access, then select the users that you want to remove, and click Remove User Persmissions
under PERMISSIONS ribbon.

Restrict read/edit access for a Manager, when Manager Visibility is enabled

Customer wants to restrict read/edit access for a Manager on his/her subordinates' owned record, if manager Visibility is enabled at the company level.
For example: If SM1 is a manager of SR1 and SM1 owner profile says that he has Edit Access on his owned records then, he will get Edit Access
on the records owned by his sales rep.
Current requirement here is Manager should not be able to edit the records of his sales rep but should able to only View. And manager also
need the Edit/Read access on the records which they owned.
Is there a possible workaround ?

I have devised this to our customer:
First, create a custom text field named "Reports To" on the object, say, Accounts.
Second, user JoinFieldValue to set a default value for the "Reports To" field: equal to the "Reports To" User field value for the current owner.
Third, add a new value named "Manager Read-Only" to 'Account Type' picklist. make sure that this picklist value is active.
Fourthly, add a new page layout marking all Account Fields as 'read-only' and name it "Account Read-Only layout".
Fifthly, create a new Account Dynamic Layout and set "Account Read-Only layout"
for Field Type = "Manager Read-Only".
Sixthly, create a new workflow rule condition for Account object ( before modified record saved ). Use the workflow rule condition similar to UserValue('<Alias>') = [<ReportsTo>] and set the workflow action to update 'Account Type' picklist value to
"Manager Read-Only".
This is just an example. Customer needs to improvise on this.

This happened to me as well. I read somewhere else that resetting the network settings (General, Reset, Reset Network Settings) would help and it partially did. I get half (the folders) of the Web Access screen rather than a blank screen. I tried tihs a few more times and got the right half (the messages) on occasion but never the whole web page.

Can I setup a rule to auto forward or move messages in Microsoft Outlook Web Access for Firefox?

I am using Firefox 5.0 and Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access for email.

You can't do it from OOTB.
_layout folder is accessible to the users if they have read access in any of the site even subsite.
You can modify *.aspx file, add your custom control which will check user.

Is it possible to use ICS with a Cisco VPN client to allow pass through access for Domain login for a second machine.

I have a current machine Windows 7 Pro with a Cisco VPN 3.5v client that currently connects with access to a customers network.
They shipped a second machine Windows 8.1 Pro without adding local accounts, that is pre-joined to a sub-domain the first system has access to.
Would it be possible to use the first machine as a ICS or Router to allow the second machine to see or access for log in, without returning to the customer site and plugging in for a log in point?
Trying to save a 3 to 4 hr trip and lugging a system back for myself and the rest of the team.

HELP needed on Remote Management set to allow access for all users

my mac mini snow leopard server runs in a data center and i use screen sharing to interact with it. i played with the sharing settings remotely yesterday and changed "allow access for" to all users. i was disconnected immediately and i couldn't logon again. i have no luck changing to other users. i don't want to make a special trip to the center to change it back to whatever it used to be. i can still use afp to connect but the screen sharing option is no longer available. what does "allow access for all users" mean anyway?

As its name implies, allow access for all should allow any valid user account to access the server. I'm not sure why it's no longer working. It almost sounds like the ARDAgent crashed.
Either way there's a command-line interface to the ARD preferences:
/System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/Resources/ki ckstart
man kickstart discusses the options, including examples of how to enable access for specific users.

How to limit file access for different users in 10.7.4 Server

We had everything working perfectly with an earlier version of Lion Server. The update to 10.7.3, or 4, seems to have opened access to all files for all users. Much to our surprise, this wide-open access started without warning.
- We have an external drive that contains all of the company's archives
- We had set access for one employee to get to the files he needs, and different access for another employee. Neither saw sharepoints outside of their access settings.
After an update, each employee can see and log in to all sharepoints. There doesn't seem to be a way to limit access for each employee now. I can set 'read' access for one employee, but it doesn't stop the other employee from accessing that sharepoint/folder.
Is there some new way to go about this? Or is something simply broken with the current release?

That is good to know. If the file share is seeing the drive and ignoring its permissions, that is why everyone can see everything. I have found, in Lion Server, that it is best to get the permissions set before turning on File Sharing. I don't know if you have the luxury of turning the file share off for a little while, but I would unshare the drive and see if the issue persists if you plug the external drive into another machine. The settings for permissions are set on the file or folder itself, so the issue should follow you to the other machine.
Again, if you can, I would unshare the drive and reshare it with the permissions that you want and turn file sharing back on. However, if you can get the drive to respect permissions rather than ignoring them, I think it will save you a lot of work.

We've had several instances where we have had to run chkdsk on arrays with over 1m files. Average completion time is approximately 72 hours. The maximum downtime window they have available is the 64 hour weekend window. File sizes and number of files were
much smaller then than they are now.
The idea, in theory, was to use VHDs to compartmentalize the data into smaller volumes which could be more easily managed. It would also improve performance when transferring these compartments of data as they would use sequential read/write rather than
fragmented/random. This idea was never fleshed out in entirety, they don't split data up into little containers, but simply into big ones per project. Hence the 11m files in one container that I am currently trying to diagnose.
Some other important facts: The VHD in question is mounted in B:/project/ as this server also allows remote workers to log in, but they are restricted to see only data in E:. Disks A-D are hidden via group policy.
Update: icacls is failing on a large number of files within this dataset. I counted the path characters to ensure it wasn't the 255 character limit I was encountering and verified that the paths being blocked are only about 150 characters long. Once it finishes,
I'll have to try taking ownership and then re-running it. At this point I still have no idea how long to expect. I'm running out of time as the environment will be in use again at 9AM tomorrow morning.
