BT Infinity: Engineer has failed to turn up 5 time...

Please can someone offer some advice I'm at my wits end, after 30 phone calls, speaking to over 50 people, over 5 hours of calls, repeating the same story over and over I'm still no where near getting what I've paid for! BT are possible the worst company I've ever dealt with! 
It all started when I put a request in on the 3rd February for a home move as I was going to move in with my partner and take my BT broadband over with me (got it for the free Sport). They pursuaded me to upgarde to Infinity which I was happy to do and an appointment was booked for the 7th March. So on the 7th I took half a day off and waiting for the engineer to turn up as they said he needs to do something to the box inside for me to get infinity, well as you can guess he didn't turn up. When I contacted BT I was informed the line had been activated but the engineer couldn't find the address, and he tried contacting me on an old number. They then informed me that the earliest appointment was on the 21st March! I said this was unexceptable as I had booked this is over a month ago and they then agreed and they decided to fast track me in for the 10th. I again took another half day off and yes the engineer didn't turn up again, the reason this time is that they said that it hadn't been booked correctly and they were 'ever so sorry' and they could then book me in for either on 2 slots of the 13th or one slot on the 14th. They said I would get a call by8pm on the 12th to confirm which slot the engineer was coming to. I didn't get a call so my partner stayed home all of Thursday just in case. When I contacted BT on the Thursday evening they said that the engineer was turning up Friday morning. I took another day off and as you can guess again there was a no show! The same reason was used that the engineer couldn't find the place and that he'd tried calling (no he didn't)! I had actually got through to a guy who admitted that I had been lied to a few times! He then booked a fast track appointment for today the 20th and I booked off another half day, I was told that the engineering team had accepted the the meeting and he would be showing up from 1-6pm! Guess what? Still another no show! Reason? couldn't find the place, which is a total lie as this time I had put a big meter sign with BT and an arrow written on it!
I've now put in a complaint but I know nothing is going to be done about it! How can a company treat people like this? I looked on these forums and it seems it's quite common for BT to lie - surely OFCOM should be fining them millions - whats the point of OFCOM if they just sit back and let this happen?
BT has cost me over £350 as I'm on contract work and don't get paid for days off, but from what I see all they're intitled to give me is £10 for each missed appointment and 4 months free service which I would get anyway if the service I ordered isn't completed in 13 days but they will only look into this once it's 'RESOLVED' but when will that be?
I've phoned Sky and they've said with them they can give me fiber optic without an engineer turning up and it will take no more than 5 days. It looks like I'm going to go with them tomorrow as BT have not got a clue!
I wish there was a group of people that would join together to take legal action that I could join but I guess that's just fantasy, a bit like BT engineers! Does anyone know if they're breaking the law by doing this and lieing to the customers?
Needless to say I'm warning everyone I can to stay away from BT as they make your life a living hell!

  • 10.6.8 running really slowly and failed to start up 4 times

    Hello,
    My MacBook Pro (which is about 4 years old) wouldn't start up 4 times, I just got the blue screen with the apple and nothing.  Had to turn off.  Eventually it started and now its running REALLY slowly.
    Any thoughts would be most helpful to get it running more quickly!!

    With that one, first try uninstalling and reinstalling your MobileMe Control Panel for Windows, robin. Does that make the error go away?

  • BT Infinity engineer no show!!!

    Hi,
        Yesterday I sat from 8 o'clock in the morning for an infinity engineer to arrive at the house. I was told between 8am and 1pm. At 2pm when no one had arrived and I had not received a call advising me of any issues, I decided to contact BT myself and was told the engineer was uncontactable but the job was still posted as going to happen that day. I took this on face value and waited a further 2hrs, still no engineer and still no call to tell me that he was not coming. I call back again to be told for a second time that the engineer was uncontactable but the job was still up to be done that day. By this time it was 4:45, I asked what time do the engineers work till? to be told 6 o'clock! I asked how is it going to be possible to complete the job that day then?. There was no answer to this as obviously it was not going to happen and come 6 no engineer had arrived. I called back once more and was then informed that someone would contact me to rearrange a date to fit the system. But nothing was said about the 12 hours I had waited 7 days before Christmas for a none contactable engineer! Surely if the engineer was not contactable the appointment should of been cancelled with me being contacted early allowing me to try and achieve something with the day I had left!! I am very dissapointed with this situation I can not stress that enough!!!

    Same thing but worse for me. My Broadband has been off since Tuesday 4 Dec.
    My 1st appointment was for Friday 14 Dec 2012- 1pm to 6pm slot.
    Of course no engineer turned up and no one contacted me.
    After many phone calls, the overseas call centre got me a slot for Monday 17 Dec -8am to 1pm slot
    Again no one turned up. Again no one contacted me.
    So back again to BT help line.
    The overseas centre said they have contacted the UK people and assured me the Engineer will turn up later.
    Around 5pm, the overseas centre phoned me and informed me that due to Lack of resources there will be
    no engineer coming. He promised me that someone from the UK will phone me within 24 hours.
    Today around 10am, Openreach (who I know is part of BT) phoned just to tell me that the earliest slot they can offer me is 31st Dec.
    They also deny amy knowledge of an appointment for Monday.
    I told them I have received 2 texts confirming the 14 Dec appointment plus another text confirming the 17 Dec appointment. They still argued they cannot see an appointment for 17 Dec and without any apologies offered me a sllot for 31 Dec - Take it or leave it.
    They keep saying thay are Openreach and imply that whatever BT has been telling is not their responsibility.
    In the meantime I am looking for alternative providers. I have relatives who use Virgin Media nd they seemed happy.
    The problem I think is that big companies are just happy to get new customers and lomg standing customers  are taken for granted.

    Hey Spider! First off welcome to the forum.
    I would recommend removing all the ink cartridges, unplugging the USB cable from the computer that connects to the printer, and then shutting the printer off completely by removing the power cord. Then restart your computer. Turn the printer back on but leave it disconnected from the computer. After it has finished its power on cycle go ahead and insert the ink cartridges back into the printer and be sure to seat them properly.
    After you have all the cartridges back in the printer properly then connect it to the computer. See if this resolves the issue. If not post back with any findings.

  • Photosmart 6180 all-in-one printer with error meesage "Ink System has failed"

    The printer is 3 years old and has been working fine until this week.  I now receive a 0xc1820206 error code after the "Ink System has failed" message appeared.  I tried unplugging the power cord and removing all the cartridges.  Unfortunately, after completing the instructions from the troubleshooting section and turning the printer back on, I immediately receive the error message again before I submit any print job.  Does anyone know what specifically the error code means or have anything else I can try like cleaning printheads or something? The printer is attached to an Apple Imac with the snow leopard operating system MAC 10.6

    The likely issue is the "plumbing" rather than the electronics.  There are various pumps and tubing that make up the ink delivery system.  Performing a reset as shown here may resolve the issue.

  • Error: no boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed!(pavilion 20)

    Error: no boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed!(pavilion 20-b014 .  The machine came originally with windows 8. I upgraded to windows 8.1 and put new hard disk. So the hard disk is fine.  
    However if I turn the machine off for a day and start the next day I get the "Error: no boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed".   
    I made the hard disk the first to boot the machine will boot and works.  Is there a way to upadate the BIOS on 
    HP pavilion 20-b014? my bios version is  12/4/2012  v.8.09.
    I do not understand why the intermittment above error showing on and off.

    I understand that your desktop computer is giving you an error message stating that the boot disk could not be detected, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
    To ensure that your hard drive you computer is trying to boot from is in working order, I recommend following the steps in this document on Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 8). This should help determine if there is a fault with the hard drive. 
    If the hard drive passes all of the required tests, I recommend returning the BIOS back to its default settings by following this document on Recovering the BIOS.

    I own a black macbook (early 2008 model) and for the past few months the display has occasionally (although recently more often) failed to turn on when booting. This only happens every one in four times after a full shut down. When I turn on the computer, I hear the hard drive boot and the fans start going, I also get a response in the white light indicator. When this occurs, I then have to press the on/off button to shut the macbook down, then press the button to turn it on again. Sometimes this works on the second try, but other times it takes 3 to 4 times turning it on or turning it off. Initially I thought it was a hard drive issue (and planned to purchase a new hard drive), but after connecting the laptop to an external screen, the desktop shows up (macbook display remains off despite unplugging or replugging external display). Is this a firmware issue? Or potentially a display cable issue? I'm leaning towards firmware since it only happens every 1 in 4 times. All parts in the macbook are original to 2008 and I've never really had any problems before.
    I've tried resetting by taking out the battery/pressing the on button.
    I also did a clean 7 pass wipe and reinstalled Mac OSX.
    Used TechTool Deluxe - found no issues.
    Booted computer and pressed D to perform a Mac hardware test - no problems found.
    Not sure what to do now...

  • Meaning of this error (ISE 1.2 on SNS-3415): HARDWARE RNG INTEGRITY CHECK HAS FAILED!

    Hi. We recently purchased an ISE 1.2 appliance (SNS-3415 hardware). It installed fine, but I am unable to access the GUI. When I login to the box and run the following command on the CLI
    ISE-12-NS-SD-2/admin# show application status ise
    I see the following output:
    ISE Database listener is running, PID: 7737
    ISE Database is running, number of processes: 38
    ISE Application Server process is not running.
    ISE Profiler DB is running, PID: 9090
    ISE M&T Session Database is running, PID: 8959
    ISE M&T Log Collector is running, PID: 9294
    ISE M&T Log Processor is running, PID: 9376
    % ERROR: ISE SERVICES HAVE BEEN DISABLED BECAUSE
    %        HARDWARE RNG INTEGRITY CHECK HAS FAILED!
    Can anyone help me? What can I do to ensure that the hardware RNG integrity check succeeds. Is it a license issue? Is it faulty hardware? Please advise. I would be very greatful.

    I worked with a TAC engineer on this and he said one other customer had this issue and the only recourse was reimaging the appliance with the ISE 1.2 ISO image.
    I did reboot, restarted services, reset to factory default and none of that worked. It is possible that the issue happened because during setup of the appliance I didn't have network connectivity and went ahead with the setup and configuration of the ISE application anyway. I later had network connectivity but by that time ISE manifested this fault.
    Reimaging and ensuring network connectivity during setup the next time around fixed the problem.

  • Get error from SQL AGENT: The SSIS Runtime has failed to enlist the OLE DB connection in a distributed transaction with error 0x8004D024

    I am running SQL Agent that executes an SSIS process from sql server1. The SSIS process executes its SQL/tables/sp’s  against another sql server2.
    I get an error after adding data flow tasks with transaction supported within a sequence with transaction required. The error, “The SSIS Runtime has failed to enlist the OLE DB connection in a distributed transaction with error 0x8004D024 "The transaction
    manager has disabled its support for remote/network transactions"
    Prior to adding this sequence everything was working from sql agent, and there were other sequences with oledb destinations.
    Everything works when running within SSIS Package.

    “I had similar issue and solved by setting the following on both the machines. Allow Remote Clients, Allow Remote Administration,
    Allow Inbound Clients, Allow Outbound Clients, and TIP are enabled in Component Services/My Computer/Properties/MSDTC/Security Configuration.”
    I don’t want to remove transaction required for the “Remove Duplicates from Staging” sequence.
    Anyone seen this?

    DTC was running on remote computer. The problem was it was no longer accepting transactions from remote servers. This was in SSIS so I had to turn to "Transaction Supported" for all Data Flow Transactions.

  • Windows has failed to load

    My laptop turns on to a black screen telling me it has failed to load due to a possible hardware or software change. What can I do to resolve this issue? Thanks

    Welcome to the HP Forums!
    I understand Windows fails to load on your notebook and shows a black screen indicating a recent hardware or software change could be the culprit.
    If you haven't made any hardware changes I would suggest performing a system restore to before the issue started. This will remove any recent Windows updates, software updates, or software installs that could be the source of the issue.
    If that fails I would suggest reseating the HDD and RAM. You can see how to do this for your notebook in the Maintenance and Service guide which can be found on your products support page here: HP - Drivers & Downloads.
     If reseating the connections does not help check the BIOS for hardware failures by following this guide: Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 7, Vista) or Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 8). This will tell you if your HDD or RAM has failed which are the most common hardware failures.

  • "CPU Fan has failed"

    I keep getting this message when I turn on my pc. It says "Fan CPU has failed.  Your computer will shut down" and then it shuts off.
    Sometimes I get it once a week and then sometimes it goes 2 weeks before it happens.  How do I fix this problem?
