BT infinity - Short continuous discconection

Hi,
I've had the BT infinity package for a month now (Infinity 2 Unlimited Broadband + Calls). Previouslly I've had the issues of discconections as well, untill I gave BT a ring and they send a engineer over to have a look and aswell a fix. Yet these disconnections are different, an example;
I would be playing Call of duty MW:3 - in the mid of a game I will get disconnected from the server but two second later I'm good to go again, these discconnection reconnect in a timeline of a couple of seconds to atleast one minute, however I would expect the lights on the hub or the other device to change in colour but this is not the case, It stays the same as it would be when providing connection.
I seeked for advice and someone told me it might be that the ports are being blocked, this is not the case!
As I've given an example of a game doesn't mean this is limted to games, I might be watching a youtube video and the same thing happens.
This happens, atleast 10-20x within a hour... could you imagen how annoying that is! It's been going on for around three days now. I'm refraining from talking to the BT techinical phone help... as, how should I put this... Non-understanding, ignorrant, time-wasting bunch of people. (It took me me hours of phone time (which was more, I can't help you with this, let me send you to another department, phone hopping) to get my previous issue solved and even to get my infity set-up)
Installation set-up:
2x Wired computers connected
1x Wireless laptop connected (not at all times... usually at night time)
I like the infinity package, provideds me with great speed, but yet... speed means nothign if I don't get a stable connection, and its not like im paying copper coins for this... I want to get my moneys worth out of it.
Done a speed/connection test:

I do not know about the pings, but I can confirm that all the internet traffic drops;
My downloadeds just hit to 0kb/s (from 2.5mb/s) - Instant)) - either on P2P or not.
My buffering stops
Getting kicked out of online server within games
Web page won't load or refresh and give me a error page with the information about checking your internet connectivity.
All this information is from the dissconnections that been going on.

  • Non-BT email domains

    I'm going to swap to Infinity shortly from TalkTalk 'normal' broadband.
    I currently have 2 of my own domains for email (via Outlook 2003) and use TalkTalk’s SMTP server to send mail and my email host for the incoming POP3 server.
    I’ve had a read around the board (and specifically a reference to the AndyWeb site) but can someone please confirm it will be possible to continue with my email as above if I switch ISP?
    There’s quite a lot of in-depth info on AndyWeb so I’m just looking for a simple “yes” that on Infinity I can continue to use my email domains/host for POP3 and mail.btinternet.com will work as my SMTP server (and I’ll dig into the details when I switch).
    Solved!

    Yes, you shouldn't have a problem.

  • BT ADSL2+ Activation Date Disappeared

    On checking samknows regarding broadband in our area and noticing that BT changed the activation date for the enablement date of March 2010 after originally being marked for November 2008, the activation date has now disappeared again.
    Does this mean that BT will be delaying the activation data further even though they are touting we will be able to receive BT Infinity shortly and that DigitalRegion fibre network that links into the BT backbone is supposed to come online at the end of March as well.

    Hi Walkerx
    Yes the dates on the site are only targets dates I am afraid so I would guess that the date has been set back.
    We are trying to get BT Infinity rolled out as fast as possible.

  • Email Receiver QPAC - On timeout property

    Hello,
    Can anyone give a better explanation of what options for "On timeout" under the Retry tab of the Email Receiver QPAC. The documentation doesn't really explain what these happens. The options are Stall and Continue with Error.
    I assume the stall does just stall the entire Workflow, but what about Continue with Error option. Does this attempt to continue to the next step in the work flow without receiving the email or does if an error occurs, does the workflow just stay at the Email Receiver?
    The problem I am having is Connection timeouts. So, when I set On timeout to stall, of course my workflow would stall. When set On timeout to the Continue with Error option, the workflow did appear to stay at the Email Receiver QPAC, but it seemed to stop polling for emails.
    I am trying to review the JBoss server.log file now to try and figure out what is going on (I set up the DEBUG per Howard's post on my other post), but it just looks like the Email Receiver stops polling for messages and I don't see any error upon a quick glance.
    Thank you for any input.
    -Jennifer

    Hi Jennifer
    "Stall" means that the QPAC will throw an exception, which will cause the workflow to stall. It will then show up on the "Stalled Actions" in the adminui. The only option you have is to retry the action, which will cause it to "start again from the beginning".
    "Continue with Error" is perhaps a little poorly named. It really should just say "Continue". This means that if the timeout period is reached, the QPAC will just complete, which means that the workflow will continue on to the next action. (If there are multiple routes coming out of the QPAC, the first one that evaluates to true will be followed, as normal.)
    The "Continue With Error" option is useful if you want the Workflow designer to be able to handle the error, rather than causing the workflow to stall. For example, if you were waiting for a customer to send a response to your outbound email, you might design the workflow to do something like the following:
    - Wait for 2 days for a response email.
    - If the two days elapse without receiving the response, send another email, then wait for another 2 days for a response email.
    - If the additional 2 days elapse without receiving the response, assign a task to a customer support rep to call the customer to get the required information.
    In short, Continue with error allows you to set a "soft" error - it's not an error that a System administrator needs to correct, it's just something that needs to be accomodated for in the workflow. A stall, on the other hand, is a "hard" error, that can only be rectified by a system administrator fixing the underlying problem and retrying.
    I hope this explanation helps.
    Howard
    http://www.avoka.com
    PS Technically, the "Continue with error" option does actually return an error code to the workflow engine, indicating exactly what the error is. However, the workflow engine does not expose this error code to the workflow design. This would be a useful feature which we hope may arrive in the next version.

  • Schedule a store proc to run with different values

    Hi ALL ,
    I have a store Proc i need to schedule it using the sql agent that i can do but the requirement is to exec the same store proc for different values at same time .
    like for eg i need to run the below same store proc for 3 different values at the same time.
    exec getIPs 'US'
    exec getIPs 'IND'
    exec getIPs 'UK'
    So for instance time is 02:30 am .
    The Same Store Proc should exec for values like US,IND & UK . If the exec for one of the values fail it should still continue .
    Like for eg if by chance due to some reason US fails it should move to next value IND in short continue with the exec.
    These values US,IND,Uk am getting from a table called Countries .
    Kindly help with this requirement.
    Thanks
    Priya

    I am unable to test but you can try something like this,
    DECLARE @COUNTRYID INT
    SET @COUNTRYID = 1WHILE @COUNTRYID <= (SELECT MAX(COUNTRY_ID) FROM COUNTRY)
    BEGIN
    DECLARE @COUNTRY_CODE VARCHAR
    BEGIN TRY
    SELECT @COUNTRY_CODE = COUNTRY_CODE FROM COUNTRY WHERE COUNTRY_ID = @COUNTRYID
    EXEC getIPs @COUNTRY_CODE
    END TRY
    BEGIN CATCH
    INSERT INTO [dbo].[ERROR_LOG]
    SELECT
    GETDATE(),
    ERROR_NUMBER() AS ErrorNumber
    ,ERROR_SEVERITY() AS ErrorSeverity
    ,ERROR_STATE() AS ErrorState
    ,ERROR_PROCEDURE() AS ErrorProcedure
    ,ERROR_LINE() AS ErrorLine
    ,ERROR_MESSAGE() AS ErrorMessage
    END CATCH;
    SET @COUNTRYID = @COUNTRYID + 1

  • Error with JAR Signing

    Folk'ses,
    I have just done my first JNLP stuff, and I am experiencing a very strange problem:
    my application launch works just fine but only every 2nd time!

    You might want to check how the referenced resources/JARs are signed on the serverI do the signing "manually" in a for loop over all jar files:
    for f in *.jar; do echo $f; jarsigner -keystore G:/Keystore/continuityKeystore -storepass XXXX -keypass +YYYYY+ $f +ZZZZ+; done
    are they getting generated/signed dynamically every time you access the JNLP?no, see above
    Could it be possible that different requests be served by different web servers (may be in a cluster)?no, I only have one tomcat server running

  • NI 655x PXI

    Hi,
       I came to know of the NI 6552 PXI- Programmable Voltage Digital Stimulus-Response Instrument. I am very excited and interested on this device card to implement open short (continuity) testing on a DUT.
      I've read through the white paper at: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/conceptd.nsf/webmain/15de80989fd122188625704d007885ea, i'd like to know a few things:
    1. Is it possible to program current on this device?
    2. Is yes to Q1, what is the programmable current range?
    3. I understand the FPGA is a Virtex Xilinx, what other components are used? What type of comparators and variable voltage drivers that are used? What are the specs for this component?
    Thanks
    Regards
    VivienW
    VivienW

    Vivien,
    Thanks for your interest in the NI  655x.
    The output structure of the 655x is voltage based.  That is, the
    drivers drive out different voltages for a logic HIGH and a logic
    LOW.  The current output from the device will be a function of
    that voltage but will also be dependent on whatever load it is
    driving.  V / R = I but remember that the R is the total load
    resistance so it will be your load PLUS the nominal output impedance of
    the 655x of 50ohms.  If you have control over the load then you
    could mimic the behavior of a current source but the actual behavior of
    the device is voltage driven with a series termination (50ohm).
    The voltage settings have a resolution of 10mV and an accuracy of 20mV
    (into 1Mohm load).  If you were to mimic the current source then
    the accuracy of the current would be affected by the 50ohm source
    series impedance.
    For the full set of specifications for the 655x I would direct you to
    http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/373309c.pdf .   The
    specifications in this document will be the specs that we are able to
    test for and guarantee.  If you have any questions on some of the
    specs please let us know.

  • Wi fi fact or fiction, please help

    ok so my ongoing infinity saga continues, i had a BT engineer visit today and after looking at my laptops, he stated that my dismal speeds are due to my laptops being rubbish and not having wireless 'n' cards?????????????
    the laptops i have, contain the following
    atheros 802.11 b/g/n wi fi adaptors
    he stated that i should connect only using an ethernet cable and that he cannot test my wi fi speed as he is not allowed and that connecting via cable gave him a speed of 38616kbps. so as far as he is concerned it is 'game over'.
    i have been told i either need to buy plug in dongles????? or invest in new laptops.
    is this all a load of bull?

    Dont forget that with many wireless devices connected to any type of wireless access point will reduce the throughput speed regardless if it is internal or external communications.
    I now have a BT Home Hub 3 ready for Infinity and know that with our 7 ish wireless devices, no way will i reach the 40 meg or what have you speeds i am likely to receive with that many devices connected.
    With wireless there are more overheads just  incase that there are no interference with in the data being transmitted compared to ethernet.
    However Wireless N should cope with 300 Mbps speeds - i would as suggested make sure you are just using Wireless N, update your drivers and make sure no other wireless access point is using the same wireless channel.

  • MSI K8N Neo4

    Hi guys,
    Ever since I've had this PC (which is about 6-8 months, tis custom built) I've noticed mysterious bleeping noises coming from the PC speaker (note: not the desktop speaker) and a rather strange and random speeding up/slowing down of a fan inside the computer. The bleeping seems to occur during the time the fan has changed speed. This only ever happens when playing certain games.
    Very strange indeed, but I've never had any problems, I just brushed it off as strange.
    But yesterday, the fan sped up as usual but the bleeping remained constant (and also very annoying) and wouldn't stop until I exited to desktop. Now before it was just one or two bleeps and nothing of concern but now I'm worried that there is actually something wrong with my computer that I haven't been picking up on and now it's gotten to be a big problem.
    I was told that maybe this is because I have the threshold too low in the bios, and that its nothing to worry about, so I disable the beeps in the device manager and go about my business.
    All is fine until about 30 mins ago, I fire up 2142 demo, and about 5 mins in, some MORE beeps happen (they were in a different tone)! Now I know something has to be wrong if it's making more beeps, but meh, as I've said, I'm not a techy person...
    This is either a very simple problem or a very tough one. I'm too scared to play a 3D game now in case I fry my PC to bits or something. Please help me out guys!
    :edit: The beeps I got were short continuous beeps and NOT the siren 2 tone noises i've been reading about around the internet. In a google search, this would indicate I have a power supply problem but I swear I have the right one? Gah. Anyway... this is the PSU I have... Tell me if it is correct.

    Did you do all the set up of the system yourself?  Are you running SpeedFan or CoreCenter?  Monitoring programs can be set to make beeps based on certain events: typically one might set SpeedFan, in the "Events" configuration, to beep every 5 seconds if the temperature of an Athlon64 exceeds 60C or so for 2 or 3 monitoring "ticks".  The fact that you have a fan speeding up while this happens sounds like this is a likely explanation.  Check your temperatures, particularly CPU, and see if they are indeed excessive - if not, change the monitoring threshold settings.  If you don't have a way to do that with your current setup, dump the monitoring program you're using, e.g. CoreCenter, and get SpeedFan.
    If you're using Dynamic Overclocking, don't - it doesn't work.  In particular, make sure you do not have nTune installed and that it's turned off in BIOS and CoreCenter if you have that installed.

  • MacBook switches off randomly even when connected to mains without battery

    Hey, i've had a MacBook for nearly 16 months now and it's always worked ok but recently every time i switch it on, about 1-5 minutes later it will just die and switch off! If i try to switch it on after this it just keeps dying. The only way to get it on and working again, is to hold down the power button until the sleep light flickers and i here a short continuous beep. After this it works fine although the fan runs for the most time on use. I thought this might be a battery problem but i've removed the battery and just run the macbook from the mains and it still switches off in this first period. If anyone knows the source of the problem or could point me in the direction of a relevant post that could help, it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks, Ashley.

  • I have produced several short iMovie projects and want to link them into a continuous stream on a DVD.  Can it be done?  All of the projects are in my Moblie Me Gallery

    I have produced several short (2 to 3 minute) iMovie projects and want to link them in a continuous stream on a DVD.  The clips are in my Mobile Me gallery.  How can it be done?

    You can do that too, it's all in the iDVD program.
    But first you want to assemble the separate clips into one big long clip. For that you would use iMovie. Share to the Media Browser (choose the Large size). Let it export then quit iMovie.
    Open iDVD, click on the Media button and then the Movies button. Under the iMovie star icon you will see your final assembled clips movie. In the iDVD project window turn on the map view (it's little boxes that look like a flowchart) then drag the iMovie project into the first box:
    You can set the project to startup without a Menu, and then loop continuously as well. Go up to the Advanced Menu then click on the Loop movie option to turn it on.
    Once checked the Loop movie status will appear as curved arrow icon in the Project Window:
    In the lower right corner is the icon indicating this video clip will loop while being played.

    What printers besides Hp will work continuously with an i-pad?  I tried Canon and Epson and both time-out after a short period of time rerquiring the user to re-initialize, which defeats the purpose of wireless printing.  Please help, Apple can not.  Thanks to all.  Art

    Canon support told me that the I-pad printer driver would not work with any printer, including HP.  They offered to fix the problem for $50.  I turned them down.
    If they really could fix the problem, they must be saying to update the printers firmware. Look on the cannon website & update the priners firmware.  While you at it, update the routers firmware.

  • Listen to lots of short podcasts continuously?

    My question in short: it is possible to listen to podcasts +as podcasts+ continuously (without manually choosing to play each one)?
    There are two parts of the problem:
    1. I like to autosync my iPod. I can plug it in to charge and know that when I pick it up early in the morning for my 45-minute commute, it will have new stuff on it.
    2. A whole bunch of the podcasts I like are <5 minutes long. "60-second Science" is, well, about a minute long. That adds up to a whole heck of a lot of fiddling with my iPod.
    I've tried solving problem 2 by making smart playlists that treat the podcasts as music (so they play in a row) with rules about refreshing the items, removing ones that have already been played, and so forth. But that exacerbates problem 1: the playlist always seems to be half things I've already listened to. I just want to listen to each episode of a podcast in a row without having to fish the iPod out of my bag. Is there some other way to do it?

  • BT infinity throttled and continual dropping of sp...

    Hi
    Im having lots of problems with my connection im on the BT Infinity totally unlimited package when I first got this i was regularly getting speeds of 70 plus. about 3 months ago this started to fluctuate particularly in the evenings and at weekends. I contacted BT and they sent me a new HH3 and for a few days this seemed to have solved things but then it went back to dropping out.
    My daughters laptop frequently disconnects (wireless) my sons phone tells him the internet is unstable when he tries to connect to it via wireless, my other son is a gamer using a wired connection and what used to take him 10 minutes to download now takes up to 4 hours, when downloading films from Sky where I used to be able to watch a film almost immediately now i get constant buffering.
    I have done speed tests today using various sites and on all of them apart from BT I am being told I am getting between 20 and 40 (BT say I am getting between 60 and 70).
    I have run the glasnost test and according to them I am being throttled on upload and download speeds.
    Any help/advice would be welcome before I switch ISP's and or get nagged to death by the wife/kids

    If you contracted before Feb 2013 you would be on Unlimited broadband. This means you have unlimited data upload and download limits. It does not mean that your connection will not be limited at peak times.
    If you contracted after Feb 2013 you should be on Totally Unlimited. This means you have unlimited data uploads and download and you will not be limited at peak times.
    If you re-contracted after Feb 2013 you may not have been automatically put onto Totally Unlimited unless you asked for it when you re-contracted.
    If you have not re-contracted and are on a rolling monthly contract you will be on what ever package you were last contracted on.
    Telephone the Options Team on 0800 800 030 and ask them what package you are on and if need be you may need to re-contract to put you on Totally Unlimited. If you have any problems post back here for further advice.
