BT Wifi Promotions

I have just had an email telling me how wonderful BT Wi-Fi is.
Nothing has changed since my previous correspondence with them on this - it is absolute rubbish and is not of any use when out and about.
Standing next new green BT Infinity cabinets I cannot get a signal. Even a BT cabinet at a bus stop - surely a high priority place for BT Wifi access was unsuccessful. What are the installation planners doing - they need their heads looking at!
Railways stations again hopeless - once managed to get a signal on the concourse at Waterloo, but so busy and such commotion I had to move - no signal on platform, and I have tried on platforms at several stations - hopeless if you have just arrived and want to check something with Wifi - agreed no BT cabinet nearby like bus stops, so maybe you can be excused for not having BT Wifi at stations.
Ditto sitting on bench on town centres - again like the bus stop obvious places where there should be a signal.
On the very few occasions when there has been the slightest indication of signal it has been so poor that it has been unusable.
Good idea but you need to get the equipment in your road side cabinets sorted out to improve one's chances of getting a good signal!
You also advertise world-wide capabilities - no hope if you cannot even get it working reliably in the UK!

In other words the responses confirm what I have already observed - BT Wifi is a waste of time.
No, you have just not grasped how it works
I have BT broadband.
I have a good Wifi signal from my router and a very poor BT Wifi signal from somewhere unknown.
Also the BT Wifi signal is not on my home intranet - so unusable without DNS hassles.
Anyway I don't need BT Wifi at home.
Just want bus timetables, maps, check emails and check up on work related statii.
Good BTWifi/Openzone signal? - sounds like I will need to move or change the towns I frequently visit.
No, you just need to understand how it works and pick up a hotspot near or on your way to the bus stop
Wake up BT!
You have all those road side cabinets with everything needed except a Wifi card and an ariel hidden inside the roof.
Something a bit more powerful than domestic Wifi will give a useful signal when out and about.
Large area of coverage with little effort.
But a large cost!! and anyway that is called GSM.
Many useful paces such as bus stops will be covered by default.

  • Facebook Like button and comments - possible?

    Dear Community
I am trying to make a page to help my wife promote her blog. She is running a giveaway and the criteria for entering will be, 'Follow me on facebook' and 'Write a comment'. I could of course just take people to her blog to complete the registration, but I would mmuch prefer to do it all inside my edge page if possible. Also it would be awesome to integrate a share button that runs directly on the composition.
Does anybody know how I can accomplish this?
    Thanks so much in advance.

Thanks Mario, As it's often the case I found that thread afterwards and forgot to update my own, ups
    Thanks again

My wife and I went to the Verizon store to purchase her an iPhone 6+.  We were told of this great promotion to receive $200 back and the iPhone 6 was $199.  Great deal, we thought!  I bought an iPhone 6 and my wife an iPhone 6+.  We were told that we would get the rebate when Verizon received  our phones.  I got my phone and went online to print the return label.  My wife iPhone 6+ hasn't shipped yet.  I found out that the promotion ended yesterday and that I should have printed the label before that time.  We lost out on the rebate.  What a scam!  I went to the store and was told that it's the customer’s responsibility to follow up and that all of their sales reps were trained to ensure the process was understood.  We left the store believing that we would have 14 days to return our phones.  This would never have happened if we received written instructions.  It was the stores responsibility to ENSURE that the customer received the correct procedure information.  Obviously a scam on Verizon's part! Is this the stores issue or Verizon's? How can we get our rebate?

That is not what my trade in disclaimer said at all...  You had to PURCHASE an iphone 6 by 10/15.  But you have seven days to send the device back after receiving it...
How could I send my iphone in before I received the new one?  I would have no cell phone for a month because it was on back order.
This is the email I received after submitting my order:
"The appraised value includes a promotional offer that requires a purchase of an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus on Verizon Wireless by 10/15/2014. Your device must be mailed to Verizon Wireless within 7 days after receiving the new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus but no later than 12/01/2014. Device received after 12/01/2014 will be reassessed at current market value. Damaged and non-working devices will be appraised according to their condition at time of inspection."
Hope this helps in some way.

  • Getting the Runaround on Promotional Data

In the Springfield, Virginia Verizon Store at 6432 Springfield Plaza, on September 22, 2014 I upgraded 3 phones that were no longer under contract.  It was clear that I would not receive or activate the new iPhones until they arrived on October 14, 2014,  Not one, not two,  but three store employees assured me that I would still receive 3GB of promotional data over the life of the new 2 year contract (1 Gb for each phone) if I made the order by September 30, which I did.   I've been wary of Verizon since my previous upgrade in 2012 because I lost my unlimited data plan because Verizon failed to tell me I would lose it if I upgraded.  So when I entered that store on September 22 I made sure that I would not be burned through Verizon's omission and made sure I was thorough about what I would and wouldn't get as part of the upgrade.
Just as other reported, when I received and activated my phones on October 14 ... no promotional data.  I called the store and they said they would do me a "favor" by giving me 2Gb of data for one year.  And to make up for the other 1 GB of data they tried to convince my wife to buy another 1Gb per month, which we would have to pay for.  I thought this was nonsense and insisted they make this situation right.  Of course they told me there was nothing they could do because the phones were activated in October, even though the folks at the same store told me otherwise on September 22.
So after getting no where with the store I called 611 and talked to customer service, who assured me the situation would be remedied in 2 to 5 business days.  I waited 5 business days and called back just to be told that the order had been denied because the customer service rep entered the wrong number for one of the phones; I was told that the problem would be corrected.  After another 5 business days, still no resolution, so I called the store.  The employee said he would look into this and call be back in an hour.  A day later came and still no call.
So at this point I've given up.  I don't have endless hours to convince someone to give me something I was promised as an incentive for upgrading and renewing my contract.  I'll bite the bullet and pay the fee to get out of the contract and I will eventually get rid of my Verizon Fios TV, Internet and home phone.  If I am expected to pay my bill in good faith every month I expect to be dealt with by my service provider in good faith also. Its apparent that that's not going to happen.
OK,  I've vented.  I don't expect Verizon to make this right at this point; its clear they wont... I just wanted to speak my peace and make sure that others deal with Verizon with eyes wide open.  I've been burned twice-- that's about all I can take.

@MsLady84, It depends if you're in warranty or not. Some times HP sends the recovery disk out for free regardless if you're in warranty or not.
I would call HP and ask them what happen with the order you made.

  • IPhone 6 Trade-In Promotion Code That Works

Okay, loads of posts about not getting the promotional amount and so on. I am in the same boat EXCEPT I haven't shipped my old iPhone back yet. I have been on the phone with Verizon three times trying to figure out how to get the trade-in page on their site to get the credit correctly stated so the shipping materials can be sent.
I received this promo code from a Verizon Customer Service rep this morning who actually called me back. It was accepted by the vzw site and prints a receipt with the appraisal amount as well as the difference between that value and $200 so it totals up to what was advertised in the promotion. It is working as of today, November 5th, and I don't know for how much longer it will continue to do so.
The website to use is: www.trade-in.vzw.com
The promo code you enter that is currently working is: CAREIPHONE6200-Z3PG-8DV4
IF you're planning on getting the trade-in promo amount of $200 they (Verizon-VZW) tells me I have until December 15th to send my old iPhone to them. Problem was NO promotional code. The old one didn't work after the promotion's end date. Of the posts I've read, most seem to be having trouble getting the full $200 pop for at least these common reasons/excuses from VZW (a contractor they have handling trade-ins). The list (likely not complete):
    1) Cracked screen
    2) Won't power on
    3) Case cracked
    4) Bad, missing or non-functional buttons
    5) Lock code still active (prevents access--yes, it does)
    6) Still connected to iCloud
    7)Find My iPhone still active
Without documentation of the phone's condition the whole thing becomes a finger-pointing game. I've decided to do the following and recommend you do something similar if and before you send your old iPhone back:
    1) On the old phone, go to Settings/General
    2) In the right column of the General options at the very bottom is a Reset option
    3) Use this option and select Reset Phone And Erase All Data (wording may different but it's close enough)
    4) If you have an access code on the iPhone you'll have to enter it to do the process
    5) Two, "Are you sure?," style prompts must be pressed to verify you REALLY want to do this.
    6) After the second Are You Sure prompt is answered, the Apple shows up on the screen and following a complete reset and erase you're greeted with the Hello screen where you'd begin setup. At this point, the phone should no longer have an access code and should have been logged out of iCloud.
    7) Go through the setup screens and skip the ones that ask you to create a lock code, skip setting up an Apple ID and password, skip connecting to WiFi, DO SKIP turning on Find My iPhone. When you successfully reach what will now be an original Home screen, RUN THE RESET AND ERASE AGAIN. This verifies for you that there is no iCloud connection, and no access code.
    8) Take close up pics of the screen, the back, the sides, the buttons, the data/power port, everything. Even better, record a video and go from inspecting the iPhone's condition to and through a setup as described above to show there is no connection to iCloud or any access code. Then go begin the Reset and Erase process (still while recording video).
    9) Lots of users here write of the poor quality of packaging provided for shipping the trade-in, so if you still have the original box put the phone in that. Otherwise use some bubble wrap or another small sturdy box so the screen doesn't get broken or buttons stop working from poor handling by USPS or other shippers.
Why pics and/or video? If you have to take the matter to arbitration or seek remedy from the BBB or other consumer resource there is nothing more convincing than good documentation.

I can absolutely see the confusion regarding your trade in promotion, chimera09. But no worries! The iPhone trade in offer has a unique detail that will allow you to wait until you've received your iPhone 6. You can disregard the 30 days from submission that applies to the usual trade in program. The original portion you listed "return your old device to Verizon Wireless within 7 days after receiving your new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus, but no later than 12/01/14" is correct.

  • Mac Pro Bootcamp WIFI-driver immunity

So. Apparently OS X 10.10.1 and Windows 8.1 are fighting a war over my Network and Bluetooth Device (Broadcom) in my Mac Pro (late 2013). It's really the strangest thing. I have looked everywhere, tried everything and I still have no idea what's happening. Maybe you guys know what it could be.
I have installed Windows 8.1 on my Mac Pro with Bootcamp, installed the latest Bootcamp Drivers (via Bootcamp) and Windows seems to work just fine! After a reboot into Mac OS X 10.10.1 - it took quite some time to connect to our WIFI - and a reboot back into Windows (pressing alt at start up) Windows could not connect to our WIFI Network. The network showed up in the available networks list, but when i tried to connect to it, it just tried to connect for about 20 seconds and then promoting an "windows can't connect to that WIFI..." error. More over it only found something like 4 available networks, where there normally are about 40 (I live in crowded area).
So after some research i managed to uninstall the current version of the network card driver and installed an older one (downloaded from the Broadcom Homepage I think) and Windows suddenly saw all the other 40 networks and could also connect to our WIFI again. Problem solved I thought.
So after another boot into MacOSX and back into Windows the same thing happened AGAIN! Only saw something like 3-4 other Networks and couldn't connect to our WIFI.
And here comes the funny part. I found jet another (older bootcamp) driver for the network adapter, managed to install that driver and (ijeey) it worked. Windows suddenly saw all the other 40 networks and could also connect to our WIFI again.
So after ANOTHER boot into OS X (this time my bluetooth mouse froze while booting and I had to cold restart the Mac Pro twice! - but then it worked!) back into Windows the same thing happened AGAIN!
Since then I have installed and uninstalled maybe 4 different drivers and it's like my mac becomes immune to each new driver after I reboot into OS X and back into Windows. So each time I have to install a new (different than before) driver to be able to connect to our WIFI. And I'm slowly running out of drivers.
    Need help. Any thoughts?

On the OSX side, can you look at About This Mac -> System Report -> WiFI and Bluetooth, which will look similar to the following?

  • Issues with trade in for promotion of iPhone 6

I have had nothing but issues while trying to purchase the iPhone 6.  I have been a Verizon customer for over 4 years.  First is was my data plan had to change, I’m like ok… but the info. i was given by 3 different people was incorrect.  I was downgraded from an unlimited dat plan to a 2GB for the same price. I was told by since I was downgrading from unlimited I would be able to purchase a 2GB plan but receive 6GB …. well that was “mis-informed” as I was told when I put in my pre-order for my iPhone 6 and then had to wait 2 hours to speak with someone about the data plan because my online order would not go through until the dat plan was fixed.
I pre-order my phone and fallout the trade in form for my iPhone 4 (which was still working).  My trade in was canceled after i received the new iPhone!  Apparently the system couldn’t catch up fast enough and then when you call the Trade in # you can not get through.  I fill out a 2nd application and this was sticks.  I mail the iPhone 4 in…. and 3 weeks later is it received and processed - but apparently in the shipping process the phone was damaged and now I am being “penalized”.  I was supposed to receive $40 for the iPhone 4 and $160 for the new phone as a promotion.
I am being told that my screen is cracked and the phone doesn’t turn on.  After calling numerous times again and finally getting through my case is being escalated to support - I reply to the support email about the situation…. the next day i get an e-giftcard for $36 - unacceptable.   I write again …. now a week later still no response.  I call back the trade in #.  I explain everything all over again… “Sorry Ma’am we have a picture of the device and there is a small crack at the bottom corner of the screen”.  So because the phone was damaged in shipping (in their packaging… a plain paper envelope no bubble wrapping, I am getting duped.  I am told to call customer service for help.  I call, a very nice woman answers on the phone 15 minutes she is trying to contact her supervisor, with no luck…. and she is not sure why they told me to call customer service, because it is a different dept and they can’t help anyway.
So now I sent another email in.  This is ridiculous!  I would have never sent in my phone for a “rebate” or order the new phone if it had not been for that promotional offer.  My phone worked just fine, no cracks, no dropped calls, no Bluetooth issues, etc. like i have with this new iPhone.
This lack of customer service is unacceptable.  I would have never signed up for a new 2yr contract with them if I knew all the issues I would have.  4 years of loyalty and this is how they treat their customers.

The phone was an iPhone 4, and we were informed that the Find My iPhone feature was on. However, my wife turned it off, and I double-checked this before the phone was sent in. When the feature was turned off, the instructions provided by Verizon were followed exactly, however we were informed that the feature also needed to be turned off on iCloud (even though there were no directions indicating this in any of the Verizon documentation or on the website).
At this point it isn't as much about getting the $111 as it is about letting someone know how rudely my wife was treated by Adam (he was at station 34 on Monday, February 10 - she noted this, because he refused to give out his last name). She was told several times by Adam that he does not report to anyone, that he had no supervisor, and there was no one higher up we could speak with. He was rude, condescending, and obviously blatantly lied. Additionally he intentionally kept my wife on hold for 30 minutes hoping she would give up and hang up. The reason we know that he did so intentionally, is because he also indicated that it was "actually pretty slow" in the call center. He also indicated that she had no additional recourse and should just "hang up" and "give up."
It's really just that we don't feel like we can trust the trade-in program, and won't be trading in any additional phones through that program. Thank you for responding, at least we can be sure that there is some customer service still happening at Verizon. We have just had our faith in Verizon's customer service pretty rudely shaken.

  • Free Verizon WiFi HotSpots Now On-Line

It looks like Verizon has turned on the ability to register for access to free Verizon WiFi HotSpots.
Verizon Wi-Fi for High Speed Internet Verizon Wi-Fi* is a free service that enables qualified Verizon High Speed Internet subscribers to access the internet at thousands of public places known as Wi-Fi hotspots. This wireless service is not intended to be used from your home, but to be used while on-the-go.
    Here is the URL:
    http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/HighSpeed/Networking/SetUp/WiFi/124611.htm?LOBCode=C&PromoT...
It requires a 20MB Download or better FIOS Plan or 3MB or better DSL Plan
Verizon Wi-Fi is available with select High Speed Internet packages and in designated locations only. The service requires Windows Vista or Windows XP 32-bit with Service Pack 3. Verizon Wi-Fi is not available on Macintosh, Windows XP 64-bit, or Windows 7 operating systems.
If you are the original poster (OP) and your issue is solved, please remember to click the "Solution?" button so that others can more easily find it.
If anyone has been helpful to you, please show your appreciation by clicking the "Kudos" button.

Totally agree...I was excited that Verizon was finally allowing free Wifi access for premium high speed subscribers (something AT$T offered over a year ago) but this was short lived after finding out that my netbook running Linux  (Ubuntu) was not on the list of operating systems (an extremley short list) I assume this will change and they want to get to all of their primary OS users out of the way first. Disappointing to say the least. There are alot of your subscribers that are looking for alternatives to the infamous "Windows" especially on their mobile devices. I hope they will provide these users with options as well.

  • OS X 10.8.4 wifi says "connection failed", but connects anyway; cannot save password

I am using OS X 10.8.4 that came with my MBP. When I connect to my home wifi that requires a WPA 2 password, it says "Connection Failed", but anyway connects to the internet. Also, my password is not being saved, and I need to enter it everytime.
After reading several forums, I have already tried the following:
    1. removing airport preference list from Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
    2. Removing network password from the keychain
    3. Using Keychain first aid
    4. Using disk utility and doing repair disk.
    5. Doing DHCP release in Network Preferences.
    6. Removing my network from the preferred network list and connecting again.
I am using a D-link modem. It should not be a problem, because the same MBP could remember the password before. The problem happened when I tried to fix my wifi because it would take long to connect after waking from sleep, when I deleted the airport preferences list, and removed the keyring.

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Upgraded to Lion and now Safari doesn't work wifi is having problems and...

I excitedly upgraded to Lion after upgrading to Snow Leopard but now I'm having problems Safari, WiFi and launching Content Barrier from my Intego Internet Security Package. Snow Leopard was perfect but Lion has been giving me some grief. I'm a little disappointed. I have read that most people have had problems with Lion but I honestly thought it would be ok. But it seems that this upgrade isn't worth all the hype it has made. I was so excited but feel a littlest down. I don't think I should be spending all this time trying to find a solution to these issues ...it's such a huge chunk out of my time that I could spend working.
Can someone please lead me in the right direction :((

Uninstall the Intego software and see if that helps.  I suspect it will.
If not, see Understanding upgrade nightmares for more suggestions.

  • Issue with iPad air trade in promotion.

I went to the Rego Park NYC Bestbuy store (Store 483) today and tried to trade in my iPad 4 32GB wifi because of this promotion.
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/promo/trade-in-offer-129347?ref=199&loc=iH2PRtf/I7g&acampID=1&siteID=iH2...
The girl from customer service did not know anything about it so I asked for a manager. The manager knew about the promtion and took my iPad. She offered me $246 in gift card but she said that I will not receive the $50 trade in coupon toward a new iPad Air 2 purchase. I aruged briefly with her but she insisted that was how it works because the promotion can only guarantee a minimum trade in value of $200 and since my iPad 4 has a trade in value of $246,  it will not be considered as an eligible tablet.  Could someone from Bestbuy explain how this promotion really work? Because it doesn't make sense at all if i do not get both the gift card and the $50 coupon. I read about this promotion from various forums and lots of people getting both the gift card and the coupon.

    Hello TommyLai,
I have to say I’m rather bummed that I don’t have an older iPad model to trade in. With the gift card and coupon provided with this offer, you could potentially get a new iPad Air or mini at half price (or close to it)! I’m disappointed to hear that our Rego Park location wasn’t quite up to speed with the promotion though, leaving you absolutely confused and without a cool new iPad. I’m truly sorry for this oversight.
According to our Trade in and Trade up promotion, you should have received either a $175.00 or $200.00 gift card for your trade in. Because your iPad 4 was worth more than those amounts, you were correctly offered more than the guaranteed minimum. This shouldn’t have disqualified you from receiving the coupon though. As long as you were intending to purchase the item listed on the coupon, it should have been provided with your trade-in receipt.
I’d like out to local leadership at our Rego Park location and provide them with the necessary details about this promotion. However, I’m unable to locate your Best Buy account, and I’d like to provide them with as many details as possible for further reference. Please know that I’ve sent you a private message to collect some information. You may view it by logging into the forum and clicking on the envelope in the upper right-hand corner of your screen.

  • 200.00 off promotion for iPad when buying iPhone 6?

Ok so I understand, and see stated when looking at iPads here on the Verizon website, that there is a promotion of 200.00 off an iPad purchase when purchasing a new iPhone 6.
I just upgraded to two new iPhone 6's, and wanted to check out possibly getting an iPad for my wife, she has a birthday coming up soon.
I asked about this a few days ago, a Verizon rep confirmed this promotion, but when I look at ordering one from the website here, I see no details on how to get this promotion, in other words order an iPad at 200.00 off?
What am I missing here? I would sure appreciate any tips on how one goes about using this promotional offer...

        Hello dburne!
I can clarify this for you! There is a limited promotion for $200.00 off of an iPad when purchasing an iPhone. The iPad is added to the account for $10.00 per month, and is within an agreement with our More Everything plan. Here is a link with the details:

  • Can 2008 Desktop be converted for wifi

Is there a way a 2008 iMac desktop can operate using wifi.  Where I am moving has wifi but presently my Mac operates via TW Cable with a modem.  Trying to find my options.  I am retired and don't always understand all this stuff but I love my MAC

Most iMac users connect via WiFi.  Apple has been including WiFi (aka Airport) radios in Macs as standard before 2008 iMac models.
    <iMac (Early 2008) - Technical Specifications>
    System Preferences -> Network -> Wi-Fi
It should be ready to operate as is.  You should not even need to change anything.
You should have a WiFi icon on your memu bar
Where you should be able select the WiFi network, and they if there is a password needed, you will be promoted.

  • How do I get the promotional $200 credit for my iphone4s? I ordered an iphone 6 on line. No mention of the promotion.

How do I get the promotional $200 credit for my iphone 4s?  I ordered a ipnone6 online, but there was no mention of the trade-in credit. Do I need to cancel my order and start over with my local Verizon store to get a credit?

No, you can do it online. Go here:
    Verizon
Choose where it says you are purchasing a new device. Go through the appraisal process and answer the questions, it will show you the appraisal value and add the promotional value. I just did it this morning on two phones, as wife and I both had 4's and both got new 6's yesterday. Mine appraised at the 200.00, my wife's at 76.00 - but the back top of her case is cracked. I submitted both online and will receive the shipping materials in app 5 business days, then I have I believe it said 30 days at the latest for them to receive the trade ins. Then we should get our gift cards in 4-5 weeks. I believe you can also take them in to a Verizon store and do the same there as well, if that is your preference.

  • Keep getting kicked off imac wifi connection

I have 2012 2.5 gig Intel 21" with updated IMac w/Mountain Lion OS.  When my PC awakes from sleep most times I do not have internet connection to my home WIFI.  I have to go thru wifi setup assistant and passwords etc to get back on.  My MB pro never had this problem.  Is there something I can do to eliminate this issue?  Please advise. Thanks

    I too had connection problems-
Reset your network settings on your iPad if you haven't already done so. Go to  General settings; scroll down and tap Reset; tap Network settings. You'll have to renter you wifi security code for you router.
In my case my wifi only iPad 3 was confused when the settings changed on my router:
Every other wifi device in my home easily connected on my home network, but I had a problem connecting with my wifi only iPad 3. An apple representative suggested I reset my Network Settings on my iPad and everything worked again.
The problem occurred when my cable / phone company reset my router Oct 1. They are rolling out "wifi everywhere" promotion at the expense of sharing everybody's router connection. Somehow they reset my router, probably through an upgrade, and now my router offers a free hotspot. I found my router with my usual password protected network AND a free hotspot connection! The router software has new menu and selections for creating a free hotspot. I think this new router partition confused my iPad. After resetting my ipad Network Settings and restarting my iPad I no longer have connection problems. But I've also switched; Ask to join networks ON in my iPad's wifi settings to insure I stay on my routers secure network instead of my new free hotspot.
At first I thought; 8ASTURDS! and thought i'd delete the free wifi partition on my router. But I'm pretty darn rural and this allows friends visiting my house to connect without giving them my wifi password or them being hassled with entering the long hexadecimal code.
This may not be your case, but goes to show; Not everything is Apple's fault...
