BUG: Basic Play/Stop Function is Broken

SETUP:
spacebar keycommand = play/stop
cycle = on
By now, anyone who's been on Logic for 5 minutes should be able to tell you the expected behavior when you hit the spacebar --- it toggles between these two functions:
• jump to left locator and play
• stop
PROBLEM
I changed the icon on a track. Then I hit the spacebar, expecting my track to jump to the left locator and play. Nope... Instead, the spacebar acted like a "pause/stop" control:
hit = play from current position
hit = stop
hit = play from current position
This is incorrect behavior when cycle is on. Right? Tell me I'm not going mad...
Can anyone confirm this behavior?

When the movie window has focus (two clicks on the window, or, by clicking on the movie's play/pause button), the spacebar then works in the same way as a QT Player window --- play, pause. But it's not like the spacebar gives you exclusive control over the transport of the movie as it does in a QT Player window, because if cycle is on, Logic will jump back to the left locator when Logic hits the right locator point. This mixing of behaviors (1/2 QT, 1/2 Logic) is terrible. I'm not sure that there's any benefit to it.
So, OK, (sigh) when the movie float window has focus, the operation of the spacebar changes. However, other key commands retain their pre-programmed behavior and relate to objects previously selected in non-focused windows! For example, if I have an audio file highlighted in the arrange window while the movie window has focus, I can use key commands to split at playhead, mute, open the sample editor, etc. Somehow that region object retains focus even though its containing window doesn't. Meanwhile, the most basic transport function --- play/stop --- retains focus with the movie window, and changes its behavior with respect to the rest of the program.
Makes no sense.

    Ive noticed that you can use the spacebar and the left/right arrows to control the playback on youtube.com
    But this only works when i have taken my mouse to click the actual youtube video box or play button... Otherwise the spacebar will scroll down the screen..   • New version (2014.1) bug : stop() function won't work

    Hi everyone,
    I would like to know if someone else had this issue.
    I've set a symbol that has an animation into another symbol that is put in the Stage. ( Stage -> symbol_father -> Symbol_with_animation) .
    I want to make this animation start only when i press a button into the Symbol_father.
    The issue is, as soon as I run the Stage,  my animation will start regardeless i've insert every type of "stop()" function ( for example : sym.stopAll() into the stage, or sym.stop(0) into the start function of the symbol_with_animation, and so on...)

    There is no such bug AFAIK.
    I have created a composition @ Dropbox - NestedSymbols.rar as you described, and everything seems to be working fine.
         Preview in the browser and click the green box.

  • The "get info" function is broken in iTunes 10 (and in iTunes 9.2)

    *Steps to reproduce this iTunes BUG:*
    _Step 1._
    Edit some track info (the id3 tags) in a third party program.
    (I'm a DJ, so I'm using Serato Scratch Live http://serato.com/scratchlive to edit most tags)
    _Step 2._
    Select all tracks in iTunes and press cmd+I to for the "Get Info" dialog.
    _Step 3._
    Click the "OK" button in the "Multiple Item Information" dialog.
    *Expected Result:*
    iTunes scans through all the selected tracks and updates any info that has been change in the 3rd party program. (This is default behavior in iTunes 9.1.1 and below)
    *Actual Result:*
    iTunes will _no longer scan_ the files for updated info, it will only check if the files are still are available on disk.
    *Why this is such a big deal:*
    I get new music almost every day. All tracks need to go into the DJ software for BPM analyze and organization. Tracks will then be imported into iTunes and added to several smart lists for syncronization to my iPods. After this function was broken there is no longer an easy way to update my smart lists with the new tracks coming in.
    _Extra info:_
    Settings "*Keep iTunes Media Folder Organized*" & "*Copy files to iTunes Media Folder when adding to Library*" are turned off. I need to manage my media folders manually.

    This is not productive, I do A LOT of tags in Serato ScratchLIVE (Have about 45.000 songs in my library constantly) I will take a long time just to try to remember what songs I tagged.

    *Basically this is my problem:*
    I'm doing quite a lot of work on all of my files regulary. (at least twice a week: fridays before DJ gigs, sundays after, and a probably a few times during the week too.) In short, I go through my tracks in Serato Scratch Live, add the text "3 star" etc, to the comments field (Serato Scratch Live don't read the iTunes star ratings), fix any genre tags (got a pretty extensive systems for those) etc, then rescan in iTunes and add the iTunes star rating as well.
    Then there is smart lists in iTunes (based on star ratings, added date, genre etc.) that I sync to my iPods to keep updated on the go. This makes for a VERY efficient system for organizing the top tracks, and weeding out anything I don't want. (i will also do star ratings on the iPod on the go, re-sync to iTunes and add the to the comments field)
    If I had to find every track manually in iTunes after doing the "star" comment tag in Serato Scratch Live, it would defeat the purpose. I would never manage to get by. I mean, iTunes only need to check if the file itself has changed since last id-scan, then read any new tag.
    Even backup programs like Carbon Copy Cloner can go through 45.000 files in a snap, and only copy the altered ones, so why should it be so hard to rescan tags in iTunes?
    To top this off:
    I have loads of music ripped to my master archive (about 10.000 album cd's) So I'm always digging for tracks, rediscovering my collection. That's what DJ'ing is about I think, digging for the hidden gems. So yes, I'll never be done tagging all my songs, but at least if the rescan worked like it should, it would make my life "liveable"
    After 2 month of neglect Id like to hear anyone from Apple comment on this.
    Ive been using Macs for about 15 years, but this kind of thing is really disappointing.

    You should consider using the Sound class. Here's a quick overview of it:

    You'll be able to add event listeners to the sound to know when it completes so you can execute more code, such as swapping the play and stop button. There is an example in that overview of listening for the SOUND_COMPLETE event (e.g. channel.addEventListener(Event.SOUND_COMPLETE, onPlaybackComplete);). It should contain everything you need.
    A basic example of what you'll end up with (there's many ways to do it) might look something like this:

    The basic idea is keeping a flag if the audio is currently playing. If it isn't then assign the sound to a channel and play it while setting the flag (isPlaying) to true. If it's already playing, set the flag to false and stop playing the audio.
    The swapChildren is run in the onPlaybackComplete() method so when the audio completes the play button is swapped back in front.
    Rather than swapping the children I'd urge you to toggle the .visible property instead. It's easy to run commands in the wrong order and get desynched on depth.

    I have always found spell check to be "buggy" in every version of all of the iOS's that I have run on my original model iPad and my new iPad - especially when replying and typing posts in these forums. It works perfectly in every other application on my iPad but it has never worked perfectly in any web browser that I have used on my iPad - no matter what I have done to try to correct it. That is what MY experience has been with spell check on my iPads.
    As for the crashes on your iPad try these basic troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    Quit all apps and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

    embedded in a web page, however, I cannot seem to find the exact
    params that make the standard controls appear (ie, Play, Stop,
    Pause, Volume, etc). I just want to show a video and have the Play,

  • Where in migration process does old server stop functioning as primary server?

    I am migrating from a SBS 2003 box to a new WS 2012 R2 Essentials box - following the instructions from 
    "Migrate from Previous Versions to Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials or Windows Server Essentials Experience".   What I need to know is where in the process does
    the old server stop functioning as a server for my network.   What I mean by this is when in the migration process (when I add the new server as a replicate DC?  not until I demote the old server?) will any programs/databases on the old server no
    longer be available to client computers?

    Yeah, we need to agree on what is meant by "the server". In Windows, Server means many different things. Each time you move, a role or feature from the "old" to the "new" the old server ceases to function as "the server"
    for that role or feature. The basic functions of a Windows DC include Active Directory, 5 FSMO roles, file and print services, and application services to name just a few.
    So the answer to your question is more to do with what you mean by "server".  In particular, for the application role, you must move the app to the new server by whatever means the developer recommends.  At that point, regardless of whatever
    else is going on the old server is out of the picture for that application.

    The issue here is that all effects that occur because of HIDE end up calling setVisible() (see EffectManager.effectEndHandler).  Window/WindowedApplication was basically left with two concepts of setVisible...the displayObject one and the native application one, and they were out of synch.  So setting visible=true on the window wasn?\226?\128?\153t calling setVisible(true) which controls the display object visibility.  Now instead of doing our work in the visible setter, we override setVisible() and do it in there.

    I run Suse 9.1 Linux, and Suse has a package called lmsensors which by default on my machine gives readings like this:

    temp2:     +41.0°C  (high =   +80°C, hyst =   +75°C)   sensor = PII/Celeron diode 
    Now that 41C is pretty high for an idle AMD643000+ running at 1000Mhz, 1.08V. Too high, I would say. temp 1 in this case is the SYS temp, temp2 is the CPU temp.
    Now, using lmsensors I can duplicate your little trick and tell it that temp 2 is in fact a 3904 transistor. Having done this can I get readings like this:

    temp2:     +16.0°C  (high =   +80°C, hyst =   +75°C)   sensor = 3904 transistor 
    Problem is, I'm not sure that the sensor is actually a 3904 transistor! The number's lower, but I was pretty sure that the sensor in the AMD64 is in fact a diode. Also, surely the CPU temp can't actually be that much lower than the SYS temp.
    So, I think your fix succeeds in giving lower temps and that's great in that it will tell your system software that the CPU is not overheating, but I don't think it's the solution to high temp reporting. Anyway, as you say, its a solution for people who can't run with system shutdowns due to bogus high temps.  
    I've been looking at these temp issues with the MSI K8T, and I was thinking the problem was simply a miscalibration. The Winbond sensor chip on my board (maybe the K8N is the same, maybe not) has a sensor temp offset that gets added to the temp coming from the sensor. On the K8T this number is +54C.   Funny number I know, but I've "fixed" the problem while I wait for a real bios fix on the K8T by simply reducing this offset to give me a CPU temp that matches SYS temp when idle. This enables cool'n'quiet fan control to work properly on my system, which is my main practical concern.

  • NetStream with OSMF is firing NetStream.Play.Stopped too early.

    Hi,
    I've been digging into a bug report where the ends of adverts are clipped by up to three seconds in Android and, after a _lot_ of painful debugging, I have come to the conclusion that the issue is with the underlying NetStream object.
    After a bit of jiggery pokery to locate the NetStream on NetStreamLoadTrait, I was able to listen to the changes to NetStream.time and to compare against the TimeTrait values, also to see what events were happening where and when. After placing this code on an Event.ENTER_FRAME handler, I was able to see clearly that there is _ALMOST_ALWAYS_ a huge jump in the last two frames... This equates to clipping off the last few seconds of the video as the jump tends to occur a couple of seconds prior to the end. Having placed break-points in OSMF code, it appears that the end is "correct" in that it is always in response to a NetStream.Play.Stopped... just that the NetStream.Play.Stopped is firing at the wrong time.
    Does anyone have _any_ idea what could be causing this? Is it likely to be with the media being supplied (third-party advertsing video...) or the plugin itself?

  • ColdFusion Developer stop functioning!

    Hello all,
    Yesterday, I installed ColdFusion Developer Edition and it
    was working fine for about a hour. Then, suddenly it completely
    stopped working. I know the code is correct because I uploaded my
    document to a remote server with ColdFusion support and everything
    worked correctly.
    All I'm doing is simply defining a variable with
    <cfset> and calling it with <cfoutput>, and for
    whatever reason the ColdFusion server is now it seems like the code
    is never even getting to the ColdFusion server because when I look
    at the "view > source" in internet explorer, the <cf> tags
    appear for the client to see.
    What might have caused ColdFusion to stop functioning all of
    a sudden? How can I get it working again? I have already tried
    uninstalling, and reinstalling, and installing the MX 7.2 update,
    and it still isn't working. Is there some way to reset everything
    within ColdFusion? I'm basically at a loss here, any help would be
    greatly appreciated.

    whooopsies! I figured out what I was doing wrong. Noob
    mistake -- rather than browsing to my files using
    http://localhost:portnumber/directory
    .... I was trying to just right click on my .cfm files on my hard
    drive and open them in my browser....
    C:\CFusionMX7\wwwroot\examples\variables_form.cfm -- in which case,
    obviously the browser didn't know to route the files to the port of
    the ColdFusion server, and thus wasn't compiling the code...

  • Microsoft Date Picker control unexpectedly stops functioning in Outlook 2010

    We have a long-standing Outlook VBA project that has unexpectedly stopped functioning with the error message "Object library invalid or contains references to object definitions that could not be found".
    We have traced the problem to the 'Microsoft Date/Time Picker' control.  We have successfully unregistered and re-registered both the MSCOMCTL.OCX and MSCOMCT2.OCX files in the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder with administrative privileges.  However,
    when using the free NirSoft RegDLLView utility, neither of the Microsoft common control files above shows as registered.  Furthermore, if we try to use the NirSoft RegDLLView utility to register these files, we receive an unknown error
    message, unlike the successful registration using the Windows Regsvr32 utility.
    Can someone please help us understand why the files appear to register properly, but apparently are not actually registered?
    Is there a way to scan these files for corruption or replace them with fresh versions?

    Thank you for the reply, Amy.  Being a novice and forced into this discussion by our malfunctioning Outlook 2010 project, we have a couple other questions, if you don't mind.
    FIRST, both the common control downloads refer to users of Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0, Visual Studio 6.0., or Microsoft Office Developer XP.  We don't own any of these standalone packages, so do we have them installed as a result of
    being Microsoft Office 2010 users?  There is never any mention of Office 2010 in any of the download descriptions or even other office suites.
    SECOND, is one file an older file and the other a newer file?  Neither shows requirements or makes mention of Microsoft Windows 7.0 (64-bit), which we are using.  But the MSCOMCTL.OCX download does list required operating systems
    up to Windows XP.  Which do we need and why don't they refer to newer operating systems?
    THIRD, the downloads also talk about discontinued support for Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 and that the MSCOMCT2.OCX file is no longer included with Microsoft XP Developer.  What is the significance of all this, these files apparently
    shipped with our version of Microsoft Office 2010.  What replaces these controls if they are out-dated?
    As you can tell, we are advanced enough to dabble in some VBA projects, forms, and macros, but are totally confused by the mixed signals sent by these types of articles.  If we want to continue developing projects how do know what path to
    follow so we don't end up with antiquated controls or other outdated elements?  Or, are these files really even outdated?  Thank you for any enlightenment. 

  • CS4 "play-stop" button not working

    OK hope someone might be able to help - I am trying to get CS4 working on my partners machine which is a Sony Vaio VGN-AR49G – specs here - http://vaio-online.sony.com/prod_info/vgn-ar49g/vgn-ar49g.pdf
    A bit of history...
    Recently installed Premier Pro CS4 on vista (Running CS3 previously on vista with no issues). 
    Running CS4 within days started to have conflicts between AVCHD and DV when editing in the same timeline – were recommended to upgrade to Windows 7.  Upgraded to Win 7 32 bit.  This is the course of action:
    - After upgrading from Vista to Win 7 32 bit, got the Win 7 updates;
    - Upgraded some drivers (used Driver Robot to detect driver updates required);
    - Uninstalled CS4 suite and reinstalled;
    - Downloaded CS4 upgrades…
    Things seem to be running properly now except the "play-stop" button (or space bar) in both the "Source" & "Program Sequence" Screens doesn't work.   Can scroll by moving the bar along the timeline, select in and out points etc… OK, but movie won’t play in source screen or program screen. 
    Have checked WAV, AVI, AVCHD … none will play.
    Closed Premier Pro and open Premier Elements on the same machine and it is functioning fine – can play the same footage…
    I’ve updated all drivers which Driver Robot seemed to think needed upgrading EXCEPT Intel ICH8 Family .. the upgrade failed and I haven’t been able to locate more up to date drivers on the web .. and found a note on my travels that these don’t need upgrading anyway.

    Really, so we're better to start from scratch rather than upgrade??  We'd have to re-load any other apps / drivers back on too after the install?  Don't run too much else on the machine as it is purely for editing.
    We have purchased the upgrade rather than straight install -- but if there's a pretty good chance that we'll solve the problem then we'll go buy that too.  Interested in any comments you have to help me understand Win 7 install vs upgrade ... thanks!

  • Ipod only plays, or functions when plugged in

    I have a 30gb ipod first i thought my battery was dead, now it turns out that it will only charge with a wall charger(direct)not the one that you can use the usb cable with, and it will only play, or function for that matter when its plugged in. As soon as you unplug the charger or ipod it stops, and soon as you put it back on the charger you can use the menus and the music will play.Help!!

    Well, I now believe that the battery is shot.
    I'm suspecting that your charger uses the 12V Firewire pins instead of the 5V USB pins. That would be enough to overpower a dead battery and allow the unit to operate but, of course, because the battery is shot, the iPod quits when you disconnect the charger. The USB chargers use 5V and that isn't enough to overpower a completely destroyed battery.
    I could be wrong but that's the only logical explanation that I can think of.
