BUG? JDev 10.1.3.1.0 on MacBook Pro - problem using space and delete keys
Is anyone using JDev 10.1.3.1.0 production release on a Macbook Pro? I am experiencing problems using the delete and space keys. The delete key no longer seems to work at all when using any of the key bindings including Default MacOS X. Using the spacebar also seems to have a conflict with the code completion feature. I am finding that the code completion always pops up when the space bar is used and no space is inserted with the editor. The space bar only works when used in conjuction with the shift key. Can anyone verify if they are able to use these keys in JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0 on a Macbook Pro?

I found that in Preferences | Accelerators, Completion Insight lists 'Space' as an accelerator, right after 'CommandAIC'. Removing that fixed the problem, but I still can't fix the Delete issue.
The Delete action is assigned to the 'Delete' key, which is recognizes as the key combination fn-Delete. I tried to assign the Delete Previous Char to just the delete key, but pressing the Delete key while in the New Accelerator field is not recognized - it just pretends as if I had not pressed a key.
I'm looking at the the file:
jdevhome/system/oracle.jdeveloper.10.1.3.39.84/Default_macosx.kdf
trying to find entries for Delete and they are not in there - is there some other place I should be looking?

BUG-JDev 11G 5407-Project level resource bundle usage messes the page
When you define a resource bundle on the project properties and if you are using templates the page is not properly rendered in the design view but it runs fine.
What happens is , JDev adds a JSTL set tag just before the *<af:pageTemplate>* tag and this confuses the designer. To workaround I defined the bundle variable in faces-config, it worked fine for the existing texts but when you add a new text to the page JDev keeps adding this set tag at the beginning of the page and you need delete it each time.
It looks like a bug to me ..

Hi,
we have the same issue and therefore do not use the feature of the property inspector.
Instead we open the *.properties file in jdev and edit it manually.
There is bug 7537379 around this c:set tag which MAY BE fixed in the next release (11.1.1.2.0) but I don't know if this bug also covers exactly your problem.

Bug Report iOS 7 iTunes. Since it is repeatable on 3 iPhones and 4 iPads here, I'm sure others are experiencing the same thing. Apple, might want to take a peek at this. When a tv show or movie is deleted from Videos, the Videos app shuts down instead of returning to video playlist.
Restarting videos works and looks like video is getting deleted.

Rainstorm of bugs on macbook pro mid 2010
I really really need help.
First my problem was with maverick. The macbook started getting really hot and randomly restarting for no reason. It got really bad, every couple of minutes it would just restart itself. A few times it would crash with beeps. Usually thought it would just reset.
I found out that the kernal task or whatever was running at 120%, constantly. I tried eveeything to fix it, but nothing worked, and it was really frustrating since it would restart constantly I couldn't get anything done. I tried hardware tests, NO HARDWARE problems have been found. NO DISK ERRORS have been found. NO PERMISSIONS fixes help. This goes for all problems that followed.
Unable to find any help anywhere on the net that worked to stop the kernal task problem ( I tried SEVERAL videos/advice from the internet, removing files, deleting files, reloading files etc. NOTHING worked). I tried to just reset the whole machine.
After deleting the entire harddrive, using disk utility. I loaded the OS over again with the disk, which is not maverick but Snow leopard. My plan was to just upgrade to maverick again. Then problems got even worse.
Now I find several problems... #1 The machine still runs ridiculously not. No kernal task using 120% or anything, but its still running hot...even if I have no applications running. #2 The machine can not restart or shutdown. I tell it to through the menu but it doesn't. A line runs across the screen top to bottom that dims it grey (very slow) then I get a message in a half dozen languages saying my machine needs to shutdown and I have to hold the power button for a few seconds etc. to make it shutdown. It has lost the ability to shut itself down. #3 On startup it is very very slow, going from a grey screen to a solid blue screen, locked for a long time. FINALLY the main page opens up. But I can see and move the mouse but it wont move, no matter how hard I try. I have to wait again, maybe 5 or 10 minutes. Also at the top 1/4 of the screen the cursor goes small/disspears. Finally I can use it again, if I wait a long time. #4 coming back from sleep mode is often very slow and will flash a solid blue screen or a scattered like plad yellow//blue screen before finally flashing to the normal main screen.
I am trying to fix this, first of all by update. but the updates do not take. It says I need to restart, (which hte machine is incapable of doing, so I have to just hold the power button to shut it down and turn it back on) but it never actually installs ANYTHING. I manually installed a fix that is suppose to fix this problem, but it DOES NOT fix this problem. THe problem persists, after downlaoding and installing the update suppose to fix it. So I still can NOT update my OS, Safari etc.
I tried to get around this by downloading and installing maverick. This is what I actually want, maverick OSX. But the download fails to install. It goes through all the steps aad even counts down to a restart, and says to wait while it is restarting....then suddenly it says there was an error during installations and tells me to try again. I tried a couple thousand times but it doesn't work.
So I CANT update leopard and I CANT install maverick GREAT!!!. NOT!!! So I tried to go into disk utility, but all it does is try to connect to internet. exerting more patience and waiting an hour or two, it will eventually inform me that it is incapable of doing anything. i get no disk utility option. I am stuck with a broken snow leopard that is obviously instable.
Another solution, I figured, since OSX is obviously garbage, i thought maybe I can use bootcamp to install windows and then just never use OSX again. Except bootcamp wont work. Again searching every nook and cranny of the internet for a reason as to WHY bootcamp wont work, I discovered manual pages for downloading the firmware it says is out of date and gives as a reason why I can'T use bootcamp. Here i have discovered that the firmware on my computer, by name is correct and uptodate for this machine. It is bootcamp asking me to upgrade to a version of firmware for a later machine, not this machine and applestore wont let you do that even if you want to. It seems some others have had this problem, but there are no solutions.
So these are my problems~
Can't update snow leopard~ No solution
Can't install maverick~ No solution
Can't use bootcamp~ No solution
Can't access disk utility~ No solution (can'T boot in recovery mode)
Oh also can't boot in safe mode. Safe mode asks me to input password, but fails to respond to any text input from the keyboard. I can type but no text will fil lthe password box. So
Can't use safemode~ No solution
Oh and...
Can'T restart without manually holding power button- No solution
Before wiping maverick, maverick was having the following unsolvable problems~
When I told it to shutdown it always restarted, it didn't just shutdown like I had told it too.
Even if I closed all programs, told it to shutdown etc. it would always reopen and autoopen Safari. Often it would open a bunch of applications I had been using like 2 restarts before the last one, as if it had crashed two restarts ago.
trackpad settings were constantly being reset, specifically the functionalities of tapclick, leftclick, right click. Always resetting for no apparent reason.
thousands of programs are not compatible with mac (generally complaint) especially games.
OK I am probably forgetting a half dozen other technical problems I am having with OSX. I want the latest free version (maverick) so posting it in Maverick section here, but for me this is a general ~ My macbook OSX wont work for nothing and is riddled with bug after bug after bug and there is no solution that works available to me for basically any of them. I am interested in any fixes people know of, but at this point I have scowered the forums and I am not seeing any that work. Maybe I'll meet a wizard who can cast a spell that will fix this machine and make it work the way a windows machine would (as in work, not constantly break and act buggy like a mac)I think there could be a hardware issue, but I suspect otherwise for a few reasons~
#1 the diagnostic finds no problems whatsoever. I ran it several times. Maybe the diagnostic software is faulty and so both software and hardware are failing.
#2 I am using the machine right now. The hardware is sufficient to display, to type, to watch videos etc. I can't understand why the hardware is the reason that nothing will update and I am having constant core update issues with OSX processes. Hardware stops me form updating, stops me from using bootcamp, stops me from installing maverick. BUT it allows me to use Safari (old version, I think I can manually update it, since mac software update is broken and wont work) watch videos etc...
Sounds to me more like there is something really wrong with OSX. I never had hardware issues on a windows machine but I know friends who have had them. Never did they cause a problem trying to update or install windows. If you had a hardware issue on a windows machine the machine would crash and/or windows would tell you that the hardware was faulty. OSX is acting like IT is broken and is incapable of telling me the hardware is the issue.
I guess I could go to an applestore and pay them to fix the hardware problem or whatever. Maybe this is hardcoded into mac OSX> It seems like lots of macs have hardware issues after 3 or 4 years. So this is how they ensure they get paid? Program their operating systme to stop working/break the hardware after 4 years or so? hold your machine hostage till you pay them to 'fix it'? -
I have a MacBook Pro 5,4 running OSX 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.10. A website i like has a known bug with 5.1.10 and recommends I install a newer version of Safari or use Firefox or Chrome. Just looking for advice on the best approach. Thanks!
Unfortunately, Safari cannot be updated past 5.1.10 on a Mac running v10.6.8.
So, the options are to upgrade to a newer OS X or use Firefox or Chrome.

Bug/No full support for GLUT on macbook pro retina
Hi,
We have a software that makes use of GLUT, the openGL utility library. This is multiplatform so it conveniently let's our software compile to many platforms. We are now thinking of compiling it for macs but there seems to be some bug in the OSX implementation of GLUT. Rendering to 1 pixel in our rendering context shows up as 4 pixels. Why is this the case? This will make the graphics look horrible on an otherwise superb screen. Is there some way to get around this?

Possible Bug in iOS 8 via Streaming iTunes Video results in lost storage space?
Hi looking for suggestions or help on this issue if you can.
I'm not sure if the issue is my attempting to stream a movie from iTunes under iOS 8 or if it is a result of the iOS 8 update (size) itself or some type of memory leak or inability of memory to be released back to the OS.
This AM I had ~4.8GB of free space on my 16GB iPhone 5C; running under iOS 7. I then updated to iOS 8 by connecting the phone to my iMac and doing the install through iTunes under a USB wired connection. I however I did NOT check after the update how much space was "Available" after the update on the iPhone itself.
While streaming a long movie (LOTR extended) from the iCloud through the Apple Video app; now under iOS 8, I received a notification that my Storage space was nearly used up. While looking in Settings\Usage\Storage I can see that I had roughly 250MB of space "Available" but only 12.7GB was "USED." Here is were things get strange. Looking into the "Manage Storage" section I added up all of the space "used" by the apps listed (Video app was NOT listed) and came up with a sum of 6GB of used space. Now why is that? The listed 12.7GB of used space is not equal to 6GB what is using up the remaining 6.7GB?
Now my research of the web suggests iOS 7 was ~3.5GB in size and my best GUESS at iOS 8 is that it is a16GB - 12.7GB = 3.3GB; although I thought iOS 8 was going to use up more space? For the sake of argument lets say iOS 8 is 5.8GB and my calculated Used Space it 6GB, that equals 11.8GB. Where are the remaining 4.2GB?
Keep in mind I added No new apps (albeit a few updates to FindMyFrieds, Remote, Pages, AirPort Utility, FindMyiPhone all to be iOS 8 compatable). I also force quit the VIDEO app thinking that the video that was streaming was taking up local storage while it was playing. Is it possible that the memory was used up by the stream and is not being Released; hence it seems I have no available space?
Powering the phone down and re-starting it did not seem to do anything.
I still need to go home, connect to iTunes and double check if the available space on the phone matches to what iTunes see.

I posted a solution that later didn't work for me when I streamed another video (see my post dated Nov 1 - cjdmedia). I then had great success using what others in this forum have suggested . . . I downloaded the free ibrowse app (do a quick google search for this and you'll find the website for it). Sure enough it was a piece of cake to navigate to the iCloud assets folder and find and delete the video file. That is my solution from now on. Unfortunate that I need to do that to have my storage space clear.
Also in my post I shared that I thought this was a bug, unfortunately I now believe that this could be intended behavior. The only question is how long does this data just sit there until it is removed by the system? or is it removed by the system? If it is not removed by the system at some point then a strong argument could be made that this is a bug. Streaming means that data is not permenantly saved on the device, right?
My fundamental issue is that I have 16GB storage that really means I have a total of 12.8GB (so says my iPhone). With no personal photos or videos, only 300MB of music, some books etc, and all the apps I want installed on my iPhone I end up with only 9GB available for anything else. A typical movie in HD takes up half of that. Not aware that the data of movies was being stored on my phone while streaming I completely filled up my iPhone only days after completely wiping and setting up. When I got the notification that my phone was full when trying to take video of my kids Trick-or-Treating - I was infuriated that something was hogging the memory in my phone, perhaps I had upgraded to iOS 8 too early before known issues were eliminated. I thought I had 9GB of space for pictures and video! To be fair, Apple did not ruin Halloween because my wife had her iPhone. I also know that this "issue" has been around since iOS 7 (based on my searching) and I haven't seen any confirmation it has ever been dealt with. From another apple discussion forum stream itunes purchased movies to iPad I discovered that if your device is almost full you can still "stream" because somehow the system knows how much space you have and then behaves more like what you'd expect from streaming which is interesting.
So to wrap this long post . . . it is obvious that to stream there needs to be data stored locally, but it is unclear how much data and how long this data will stay on your device. The quickest solution (requires a computer) is to use the iBrowse app and manually delete the movie files in the iCloud assets folder. -
MacBook Pro - Bluetooth and Speaker bug

I've bought a new speaker (JBL Pulse) one day ago in order to use it like speaker for my Macbook pro.
Here it is, I need to use a bluetooth connection if I want to use my JBL speaker. My bluetooth is able to see my speaker, so they are connected. Everything works fine but after 1min, I can't explain why but the connection between them is broken. And it does it every time.
So first of all, I've tried other devices. My iphone is ok, my ipad is ok, I've tried with 2 other Macbook and everything works well. So I've concluded that the bug comes from my computer.
I have a magic mouse so I thought that maybe my mouse could create some disruption. I have disconnected my mouse but the bug is still here.
Then, I've called apple support.
The guy told me to do many things like reboot the macbook and other stuff like that. At the end he told me to reinstall my OSX. So i did it and the bug is still here.
Then I have even tried to delete the file inside my DD thinking that maybe it could help. but I have still the same problem.
It's not the first time that I have some troubles with my bluetooth. Sometimes it happens that my magic mouse is disconnected while I'm using it. Or even sometimes when I try to click on the bluetooth icon it doesn't even answer. And I have to restart my computer.
I'm a little bit frustrated because my macbook pro is in very good condition and it's a young one (almost one year). I don't have a lot of stuff inside.
A friend tried to solve the problem but he thinks that the problem comes from my "network card".

(frustrated again ^^) So I'm gonna call them Monday morning if I'm still without any solutionI have the same problem with my older white Apple Wireless Extended Keyboard, which had been working fine with my 2009 iMac. But I experience the issue sporadically with my new Mac Mini. I've read reports of people resolving some BT issues by turning off "Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer" in the Advanced pane of the Bluetooth System Preferenes Pane.
There are also people having the issue on iOS devices using various Apple BT keyboards. No help, but interesting to note that it's happening across various devices, keyboard models, and OSs. -
Bug in iOS 8 via Streaming iTunes Video results in lost storage space

i am from Germany and i am cant believe that i this Problem is a Problem what not all ios 8 Users has.
While streaming a Movie or TV Show from the iCloud through the Apple Video app; now under iOS 8, the "Other"-Memory Space go higher and higher. When i want delete the Movie Files like on iOS 7 before i go to the "Manage Storage" Option but there is no Videos Folder anymore. I cant delete the Files. On the Info Options in the Setting is see there is 1 Video on the iPad but i cant delete the Files.
I also force quit the VIDEO app or restart the Device - no changes. The Video Files are on the Storage. But i cant see them and delete them.
Today i talk with the Apple Support and reset the Device complete with a new iOS 8.1. Then i installed no Apps , only try to play a Video. Same Bug.
Powering the phone down and re-starting it did not seem to do anything.
Who has the same bug and what can i do ? Any Tipps here?
Thanks and sorry for the long questionIt may not officially stream, but it does behave as follows:
No videos watched - available storage: 16GB
Video watched from cloud by clicking on title of video and not by clicking on iCloud download icon - available storage on device: 11GB
Open storage usage detail and content of video app is not showing.
Download the video watched in step 2 using the iCloud download icon - available storage still 11GB
Open storage usage detail in settings and now the video content in 5GB
Delete the video downloaded in step 4 and available device storage is back up to 16GB.
That may not be streaming, but it is a bug. The worst thing is that sometimes steps 4-6 don't work and so my "Other" storage just become cluttered with content and a complete wipe and setup as new device is required.
I have now seen the above so many times that I am in no doubt at all that this defect is real.
That is simply not acceptable. -
When composing an email in Mac Mail I've noticed a small but very irritating bug: pressing the spacebar after typing an apostrophe in a word, e.g. "we're", the cursor moves to the left i.e. backwards, and not to the right, effectively deleting a space and not creating one.
Any ideas?I just recreated this problem on my iMac (wired KB, no wireless KB) by changing Mail > Preferences > Composing > Spellcheck from "as I type" to "never". Then type a contraction ending in 're and the space bar causes the cursor to jump back as others have stated, to the spot 'r|e
Next, I went into System Preferences > Keyboard > Text, and turned off "use smart quotes" and the problem went away again.
From this point (smart quotes off, spell checking never), if I turn Smart Quotes ON, the problem returns.
The problem is dependent on the state of both settings.
The spacebar in Mail "works" if I have either of the following setting combinations:
Keyboard: smart quotes OFF, Mail: check spelling ANY SETTING
Keyboard: smart quotes ON, Mail: check spelling AS I TYPE
Other combinations FAIL
Keyboard: smart quotes ON, Mail: Check spelling NEVER
Keyboard: smart quotes ON, Mail: Check Spelling WHEN I CLICK SEND
Looks to me like there's a bug in Mail > Preferences > Check spelling > NEVER and WHEN I CLICK SEND that interacts badly with Keyboard > Smart quotes ON.
