Bug report: A keyboard layout is incorrect on the remote with Japanese keyboard

This is a bug report for Microst Remote Desktop
===================================================
## Summary
A keyboard layout is incorrect on the remote with Japanese keyboard
## Version Information, I tested

    * Case 1
        * MacBook Pro with JIS106 Keyboard
        * Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5
        * Microsoft Remote Desktop 8.0.24308
    * Case 2
        * MacBook Pro with JIS106 Keyboard
        * Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9.1

    * Case 2
        * Windows Server 2008R2 Datacenter Japanese
    * Case 3
        * Windows Server 2012R2 Datacenter Japanese
## Detail of bug
When login from Mac OS X with Microsoft Remote Desktop, the keyboard layout is always incorrect on the remote.
The client machine have a built-in keyboard of JIS 106 layout,
and the primary language is set to Japanese.
But on the remote, the keyboard layout is US 101.
So a input of Shift+2 does not result " but @.
I've seen the above behavior on the 3 remote enviornments described the above.
This bug did not occcur with Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac 2.1.1, even if the system language is English and keyboard layout is Japanese.
## Captures
I've took some of screen captures.
I'm sorry for the capture includes Japanese words, so I added description in English.
Capture 1:
Mac OS X Keyboard Setting
Capture 2:
Windows Server 2012R2 Screen Keyboard
Capture 3:
Windows Server 2012R2 Screen Keyboard, with a additional registry key configured.

This bug also affects the Canadian English settings.  If the client is set to Canadian English with a US keyboard the remote server is setup using a Canadian French keyboard.  Using the language selection in the toolbar you can temporarily correct
the problem but the keyboard resets to french at the most inopportune times.  The was a problem in the earlier RDP client and was fixed so it's sad to see it reoccur in the new client.

    ## Detail of bug
When I connect to the listed remotes the client sets the keyboard layout to Latvian which is a completely different layout than Hungarian (not even close...).
    - On Windows 8 if I set the language on the login screen it stays on that language after the login.
    - On Windows Server 2003R2 and 2008R2 even if I set the language at login it will switch back to LV after the login.

Unfortunately cannot include my shots because I'm not allowed to do this...
    ## End of report
Please allow the users to set the correct "target" language on connection basis because the automatic method the app use to determine that is unreliable.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the feedback.
I will forward this to the product team.
    Thanks.

I want to buy it on sale this friday, so a quick answer will make me happy :)

You should - if you're in the UAE, for instance, you should get an Arabic keyboard (you may have to specify when you configure your machine - I don't know, I live in the US).

  • Bug Report - Windows 8.0 - 6.0.1 USB arbitration causes USB keyboard driver failure

Can't find a place to submit a bug report. So here goes.
    Full Error Message:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory.
    Problem Occurs:
    Windows 8.0 x64
    Vmware Player 6.0.1 build-1379776
    Problem:
A USB keyboard ceases to function on the host operating system following the first host OS reboot after installing 6.0.1 on Windows 8.0. This issue does not occur with 6.0.0. The issue disappears upon uninstalling Player 6.0.1. Reinstallation allows Player to operate as expected, but issue re-appears after host OS reboot.
The issue happens immediately after host OS loads, and continues irrespective of whether VMWare Player is launched.
Looking at the keyboard drivers, the usb keyboard's driver has not loaded (see attached images). The built-in keyboard driver however reports no errors and continues to operate as usual.
Changing the USB keyboard device to that of a different manufacturer does not resolve the issue. Any USB keyboard driver appears to fail.
    Work Around:
    1) Launch msconfig
    2) Disable VMWare USB arbitration service
    3) Reboot
    4) USB Keyboard works. VMWare Player continues to operate as normal, minus the ability to mount USB storage devices on the guest OS.

This issue was fixed on my PC as follows.
    1) Taking ownership of the above usb*.sys files in  the drivers folder
    2) renaming them to usb*.sysold
    3) Using Device Manager to uninstall all USB devices with the yellow warning ! next to them
    4) Doing a Scan for Hardware changes via the Device Manager toolbar and then waiting a few moments whilst the USB devices are re-installed with signed drivers.
    Hope this helps you....

  • Adding keyboard layout to tty and to i3 with urxvt

After million searches and tries, reddit posting and bleeding keyboard, I give up. I can't figure out how to add another keyboard layout. I want simple alt+shift switching settings and I want it to work on both tty and urxvt. I have seen the install wiki, the xorg  page and few questions and answers in the forum. not only that I couldnt get it to work, I can't understand which one from all the different configuration options is the current, right for my setup.
    Many thanks

    Thank you for replying
    this is what I configured:
    Section "InputClass"
            Identifier "evdev keyboard catchall"

  • Problem with external USB keyboard layout that differes to the macbook one

I have a MacBook with a US keyboard layout and attached to an older (pre aluminium) japanese keyboard. As long as I stick in the normal mode (eg not japanese input) all keys work as they should. But if I switch to japanese input, the keyboard also switches to japanese input.
I suspect it is because in the Kotoeri Preferences under "Keyboard layout for Romaji" is US selected. But from this dropdown I cannot choose any japanese layout.
How can I fix this? This is really annoying, all the time when I input some japanese text and want to use any of the other characters (eg & or %, etc) I need to use the keyboard on the Laptop because else I do not get the correct characters.

I don't think that matters -- the point of this preference is to allow correct Hiragana input by people using non-US latin keyboards.
Yeah, neither do I ... but somehow os x doesn't see the correct keyboard layout once I switch to japanese input.

Is it not possible using the JIS Japanese keyboard to make & and %? I see them for example on this picture of one.
If I view the keyboard viewer I see the correct japanese layout, but if I want to type the keys as shown there I get the input like on the US layout on the keyboard in the laptop.
eg shift+6 = &, but on us you get ^. so when I am in normal input I get the &, but if I switch to japanese input I get the ^. And this is really annoying, especially some keys "disappear". the ¥ (yen/backslash key) just doesn't work at all in japanese input.

  • Bug Report - DB toolkit returns error when calling the DefaultDatabase property with SQLite

There's an old bug in the DB toolkit where calling the DefaultDatabase property returns error -2147217887 if you're using certain DBs (such as SQLite or PostgreSQL and I believe MySQL as well).
The problem is that this property is called by a VI which is used in some of the commonly used VIs (such as the insert VI),
causing them to fail. Whoever wrote the code was aware of this issue,
since they added a comment about it, as you can see below.
The immediate fix for this is pretty easy -  add code to ignore the error or don't call the property at all. It's not used anywhere in the toolkit and unless you're using the VI yourself to get the property, this won't break any code. The problem with this is that you need to do this in every PC.
NI already has a CAR for this (CAR 232063) and should hopefully fix it, so there's no need to take further action at the moment. This post is for people searching for this in the future.
Try to take over the world!

Interesting. I have seen this before but it returned a different error code. (Error -2147352567)

  • Trying to Order Macbook Pro with Japanese Keyboard - From Canada

    Hi everyone,
I'm a university student majoring in Japanese and I have been trying to order a Macbook Pro with a Japanese keyboard.
Apple.com seems to let you order a Macbook in a number of different languages but Apple.ca only gives English and Canadian French.
Would anyone know if Apple.ca is planning to offer the same?
    Thanks a lot,
    Tom

    Hi Jellois123,
I recommend you call into the online store and ask for further assistance. I know that I can't order every type of keyboard layout from the online store but a good friend of mine was in a very similar situation and the people over the phone were able to arrange the custom order.

  • My japanese macbook pro (late 2011) physical keyboard does not match with the on screen japanese keyboard in windows 8.1 so does caps lock

I am using windows 8.1 pro on my Japanese macbook pro (Late 2011) and enabled japanese language but the problem is that when i press caps lock (lower left corner) it changes the input method from english to japanese. I checked my on screen keyboard (OSK) in windows and its different from my physical keyboard i.e. keys are different on my physical keyboard compared to OSK. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks

Can I suggest the following articles, which are worth reviewing?
Boot Camp: About keyboards and key assignment for Microsoft Windows - Apple Support
Boot Camp: Apple Wireless Keyboard keyboard mapping in Windows - Apple Support
Boot Camp: Windows commands on an Apple keyboard
Windows does require language packs to be installed, if you want the physical keyboard to match the on-screen keyboard.

  • Flash movie where the presenter can control the stops with a keyboard key.

    First to thank all
I do not know how to insert an animation stops to give the presenter time and forward or backward in a linear and PowerPoint by pressing any key.
Similar to typical PPT slideshows and will insert a small clip light and animation films. "My idea is that every time they click on any key (no button) on the film, forward motion up to a certain frame and so on until the end of the
    presentation "
Thank you all devote your valuable time.

  • Bug report: clip marker is placed incorrectly

    (filed)
    Product Version: 7.2.1
    Your operating system: Windows 7
    ******BUG******
Clip marker in audio clip is placed at incorrect location
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. Highlight WAV audio clip in sequence, in this case bottom audio track below one other audio WAV clip and two video/audio tracks
    2. press M at desired marking point, as indicated by playhead
    Results:
Marker is placed to left (earlier) of the playhead by one frame, and I have seen it to the right (later) by one frame.
    Notes:
    1. Markers were placed correctly in the two of three  audio clips on top of this one in the sequence
    2. the misplaced marker cannot be deleted, although it can be selected.
    Expected results:
Place the marker at the playhead, not just nearby. Accuracy counts!

Replying to my own posting. The original example was optimistic.
In reality, placing markers on my audio clips to help with sync and maintain sync is like watching a blind person play darts... and sometimes the darts stick in places you can't even get them back out of.

  • Bug Report: Original image location sometimes displayed in PDF created with Word 2013

    I found a non-critical security bug in Office 2013.
    Here is the issue:
If you drag and drop an image into Word 2013 (I'm using x64 version in Windows 7 if that matters) and then save as PDF (using the default settings) it saves the full file path of the original file in the PDF such that the full path name gets displayed when
you hover over the image. I've only tested this in Adobe Reader XI. If you use the Insert Picture method then this does not occur.

I found this posting as I have now "rediscovered" this issue. I came to the same conclusion - edit ALT TEXT for every image.
However, I think it is confusing that these paths of image file are not considered Personal Information that can be removed using the Inspect Document feature (I tried - was not successful). The list of things to be removed using this wizard is quite extensive
    - and some of them less visible than these file paths.
It would be interesting to know if this is going to change with future updates of Word. Why is an ALT TEXT included at all per default? I think using the file path in ALT TEXT should be made optional. Is there a way to turn off this default embedding of
    the full path?
As the OP I also used Office 2013 on Windows 7 64bit.

  • Bug report: backspace acts as delete when at the beginning of the line.

This occurs in Calendar Subject and also in the Android Slack app.
To reproduce make some text and put your cursor in the middle.  I could understand if it worked as delete if the cursor STARTED at the beginning of the line however it's incredibly jarring to hold down delete to nuke only the first part only to eat up the rest of your text (especially because there's seemingly no UNDO).

it has been this way with BlackBerry for many years and its a nice feature to be able to delete from the beginning of a line with out adding in another key

  • Bug Report: Hotzone navigation does not work at the end of a flattened article

I was writing about this earlier but I think it did not catch on.
I experience problems when using Hot zones in my custom viewer together with flatteened articles. when I reach the end of a flattened article, tapping the hotzone does not advance to the next article. this also happens at the first page of the flattened article when I try to get to the previous article.

In case you do not know...
If you want to limit css to specific sites you can do, e.g.
    <pre>@-moz-document url-prefix(http://www.example.com/example_dir/)
    css for this site/directory
    }</pre>
(There are other varieties of this construction too.

  • Do I need an audio interface between my roland keyboard, garage band/MAC and Alesis 8.0multitrack mixer, or should I go direct into the USB of the Alesis with my keyboard into the mixer?

Do I need an audio interface between my roland keyboard and alesis 8.0 multitrack mixer when interfacing with Garage Band? Or can I just go direct USB MAC into the Alesis Mixer with keyboard directly into the Mixer? ie, is the interface overkill?

First of all the Alesis 8.0 is a usb audio interface so you already have a interface. Next you could go from the Roland into the Alesis into the Mac. You could also go from the Roland headphone or line out into the Mac Pro audio input. And depending on what Roland keyboard you have, you may be able to use Midi (usb) and use the Macs Midi voices.
