Bug report: Application.Volatile True (at least in GUI 6.2)

Question

Consider the following UDF (User Defined Function):
Public Function ColumnWidths(rg As Range) As Double
Dim Widths As Double
Dim col As Range
  Application.Volatile True
  For Each col In rg.Columns
    Widths = Widths + col.ColumnWidth
  Next
  ColumnWidths = Widths
End Function
and of course notice the embedded: <b>Application.Volatile True</b>.
Pop the function into a module of your VBA project then reference it on a worksheet that does NOT involve a query (just to make the test more independent of BEX and what BEX does).
Now refresh the query and am assuming you'll be plagued by a bunch of <b><INTERNAL ERRORS></b>.
<u>Excel VBA help says this property:</u>
"Marks a user-defined function as volatile. A volatile function must be recalculated whenever calculation occurs in any cells on the worksheet. A nonvolatile function is recalculated only when the input variables change. This method has no effect if it's not inside a user-defined function used to calculate a worksheet cell."
I assume during the refresh sequence BEX is forced to yeild control to the UDF (which it ungracefully compains about).
Interestingly, even with calculations MANUAL the problem is well, still a problem.
Obvioulsy to get around the issue, one need only remove the offending statement then perhaps follow through with a range().calculate on the cells that hold the function.

Thanks for pointing this out... I've not read anything about this in the past.
Just curious... do you see the same problem if the LoadVars call is outside the onAppStart method, and that method is called in the onAppStart?
