Bug: WLS 10.3.3 Facelets
Facelets in WLS 10.3.3 generates error.
1. Configure WLS 10.3.3 for JSF 2.0
2. Run an .xhtml Facelet in WLS 10.3.3.
3. Error gets generated:
Initializing Mojarra 2.0.2 for context '/Facelets'.
Can you elaborate on this a little -- I don't see the problem from what you describe, that msg is an expected stdout entry when the JSF 2.0 RI is initialized.
Or are you seeing this in the page and not on the console where WLS was started?

Weblogic SSO - Kerberos error message
Hi,
I have weblogic and ucm (11g) set up to use single sign on.
If I call the login in page and put my network credentials in - I am allowed in. So LDAP is configered correctly.
When I access UCM directly (expect SSO to kick in) I get error message:

JamesI've found the cause of my problem. I've tried jdk 6u11 and everything was working like it should. But with jdk 6u21 and jdk 6u22 I've got the same error. I've found that there's a bug in jdk ( http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6984764 ).
But still I think that despite this jdk bug WLS team can fix SSO negotiation util in next WLS release. -
Bug in WLS 9.1 clustering?
I am in the process of testing WLS 9.1, and I'm seeing some strange behavior in a clustered environment. Since we are only in development, I've been performing in-place redeployments for the various EARs that we're testing. Sometimes this works fine, but other times it appears to corrupt the deployment on one of the managed servers. If I look at the server logs I can see that the applications are being redeployed on both managed servers, but when I look at the actual application logs it appears that the MDBs on one of the servers are not getting destroyed and recreated properly. As a result, when we attempt to perform some processing and a JMS message happens to go to the "corrupted" server, strange "NoClassDefFoundError" exceptions and other errors are thrown. However, the EAR seems to work properly on the other managed server as well as on my local machine so I know that there is no problem with it. This only happens sporadically; I cannot recreate it "on demand". Is this a bug? (By the way, we had no trouble running our cluster in WLS 9.0 so I assume that the cluster configuration is not the problem.)
Regards,
SabrinaI have a similar problem with WLS 9.1. When I deploy an ear file, i can see the login page, but, when I login it throws an error saying "internal server error". When I check my stage folder, entire ear file is copied there, its not expanded. I dont have any problem with 9.0. Is this a bug in 9.1?
when i deploy a .war file it says "Cannot set web app root system property when WAR file is not expanded". but, when i expand it and deploy, it works fine.
I have already opened a case on this. I did not get any response from BEA. Its urgent for us. Did anyone of you solve this issue. If yes, please let me know the resolution.
I really appreciate any help on this.
Thanks a bunch

WLS 9.1 bug with WebLogic Plug-In Enabled?
We are currently upgrading from WLS 8.1 to WLS 9.1. We use Apache HTTP Server 2.0 on Red Hat Enterprise 4 with the weblogic plugin. We have the plugin configured properly as the application functions properly except for calls to request.getRemoteAddr(). We have WebLogic Plug-In Enabled enabled at the cluster and server level. We verified MBeans reported true using the weblogic scripting tool in interactive mode. We see the WL-Client-Proxy-IP header in the request as expected. We've searched the newsgroups and BEA site and they mention setting the WebLogic Plug-In Enabled option as the problem. It doesn't appear to be ours.
Is there a bug or are we missing something else? If it is a bug, is there a patch? We have a workaround in place which gets the WL-Client-Proxy-IP header directly, but obviously this isn't the optimal solution for something that was working properly in 8.1.
Thank you in advance,
DanielSure! Calling directly a server is more fast then pass through a load balancer and through a webserver and through (again?) the weblogic plugin (even if it's only a lib!!!)...
Moreover you could have performance problem if you use hostname instead of IP address, cause for every client call a DNS query must be executed.
One more thing... The only one load balancer algorithm you must use is the round robin, I'm not speaking about weblogic load balancing algorithm... But about hardware load balancer above the webserver.

Nodemanager Broken in WLS 12.1.2 (Bug)
I discovered the following issue with the latest WLS 12.1.2 release:
WebLogic 12.1.2 Nodemanager Bug
Any suggestions?
Is anybody else bothered?
Does it work with the per machine NM?
Same problem in earlier versions of WLS or just 12.1.2? (I haven't noticed it before)
thanks for your input!I tested in my 10.3.5 Environment and don't happen nothing.
Maybe only in 12c, but I doubt about if it's a bug. -
Hi,
I enable JCOM in WLS 8.1.2 and once awhile I would see the following error message
throw by WLS Server. I assuming it's a bug within weblogic.

>Hello,
In general, JNDI clients should assume the correct environment is already configured so there is no need to explicitly set property values and pass them to the InitialContext constructor. However, a JNDI client may need to access a name space other than the one identified in its environment. In this case, it is necessary to explicitly set the java.naming.provider.url (provider URL) property used by the InitialContext constructor. A provider URL contains bootstrap server information that the initial context factory can use to obtain an initial context. Any property values passed in directly to the InitialContext constructor take precedence over settings of those same properties found elsewhere in the environment.
Context.PROVIDER_URL— specifies the URL of the WebLogic Server that provides the name service. The default is t3://localhost:7001. So that you are getting the following result:
ProviderURL=t3://localhost:7001

Bug? Obligated to deploy ADF Model Runtime to internal WLS
Hello, I have a strange problem. I have 2 projects in my application: A model project and a generated webservice (from WSDL). In the webservice I have a handler that logs to the database so I have a dependency on the model project in my webservice project.
My EAR deployment profile only contains the webservice project (as it should because the model is implied through the depenency, right?), but I have to deploy the "ADF model runtime" library along with it because I get a NoClassDefFound exception otherwise. THis si weird because this is a runtime library and I have an ADF domain in my WLS so the library is already there. I have other webservices deployed onto this same server and they don't have this problem. The only difference I can think of between those and the one with the error is that the last webservice was generated with a local WSDL and the others from an URL. But it would be odd if that were the problem here.
My guess is that it's a bug in JDeveloper, and I would like to know how to correct it. Somehow my classpath doesn't seem correct, is there an xml file I could manually change so that I don't have the deploy the jar file along with my project? It makes my EAR file huge and I have to wait 7 minutes before it is deployed. This is unacceptable....
EDIT:
I have compared the two EAR-files, the only difference in them are the jar files. These are the jar files that are in the big EAR-file but not in the small (broken) one:
adf-controller-security.jar
adfdt_common.jar
adf-dt-at-rt.jar
adflibrary.jar
adfm.jar
adf-share-security.jar
adftransactionsdt.jar
commons-el.jar
db-ca.jar
groovy-all-1.6.3.jar
identitystore.jar
javax.activation_1.1.0.0_1-1.jar
jdev-cm.jar
jsp-el-api.jar
ojmisc.jar
oracle-el.jar
xmlparserv2.jar
During deployment, JDeveloper complains about not being able to find oracle.jbo.domain.Number , which is in adfm.jar if I am correct. Isn't that weird? It should be available on the WLS, or not?
EDIT2: I have compared my EAR to a working webservice without the libraries deployed along with it and the weblogic-application.xml says this:
<library-ref>
<library-name>adf.oracle.domain</library-name>
</library-ref>
I think I want that in my weblogic-application.xml as well. How do I do that? It is generated during deployment...I solved it. Somehow I did not have a weblogic-application.xml in my application resources screen. It is supposed to be where jps.config.xml and cwallet.sso are. I made one manually and added the library-ref mentioned before to it. Then I could deploy without any problems. I am still wondering why JDeveloper didn't create one for me in the first place, because I can't remember having to do this manually for any other project I ever did.
Anyway, problem solved! -
WLS 6.1 SP4: bug in ExecuteThread's contextClassLoader behavior?
Platform: WebLogic Server 6.1 SP4, JDK 1.3.1_06, Windows
When creating a new thread from a serlvet with a current
thread of type "weblogic.kernel.ExecuteThread", the
contextClassLoader of the new thread is set incorrectly.
The contextClassLoader of the child thread should be of
type "weblogic.utils.classloaders.ChangeAwareClassLoader",
but instead is of type "sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader".
By stepping through the code with a debugger, I was able
to determine that the ExecuteThread class has a private
variable named contextClassLoader and that it returns the
value of this variable from the getContextClassLoader
method.
When a Thread is created, its initialization code uses the
private contextClassLoader member of the Thread class from
the parent thread to set the contextClassLoader of the new
thread. Since the ExecuteThread class does not appear to
change that value (presumably by calling
super.setContextClassLoader()), the new thread now has the
incorrect context class loader.
Because of this, the code executing in the new thread uses
the wrong class loader for certain JNDI operations,
causing them to fail. Specifically calls to
NamingManager.getObjectInstance passing a Reference object
fails to create the instance because it does not have
access to the correct class loader.
Is this a known issue? When will it be fixed?This looks like a bug. contact [email protected]
As a workaround try the following
Thread thread = new Thread();
thread.setContextClassLoader(Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader());

Bug in WLS 6.1 DataSource + Oracle Pool
Does any one has arrived to execute an Oracle Stored procedure which
return a CURSOR in response with JDBC through the DataSource?
It's working perfectly with WLS 5.1sp9 to 6.0sp2
and NOT with the 6.1 (even sp1) ...
Exception : weblogic.jdbc.rmi.internal.ResultSetImpl
Any idea ?

JAX-WS SOAPHandler can not deployed in BEA WLS 10.0 - Bug?
Hi,
currently I'm trying tp deploy a simple JAX-WS webservice with JAX-WS SOAPHandler in BEA WLS 10.0.
Therefore I provide a WAR file with the webservice and handler classes.
The SOAP Handler is defined in the webservice via the @HandlerChain(file="handler.xml")
My handler.xml looks as follows:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
<javaee:handler-chains xmlns:javaee="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
<javaee:handler-chain>
<javaee:handler> <javaee:handler-class>com.bmw.wss.server.handler.AuthenticationHandler</javaee:handler-class>
</javaee:handler>
</javaee:handler-chain>
</javaee:handler-chains>
This handlers.xml is in the classpath within the WAR file.
If i trying to deploy this WAR file I always get the following exception from BEA WLS 10:
weblogic.application.ModuleException: [HTTP:101216]Servlet: "WSAATestService" failed to preload on startup in Web application: "wsaa-jaxwshandlertest.war".
java.lang.NullPointerException

at weblogic.wsee.monitoring.WseeRuntimeMBeanManager.createJaxWsMBean(WseeRuntimeMBeanManager.java:57)
I seems BEA WLS 10 has some problems with the JAX-WS SOAPHandler. I've deployed the same WAR-file on a Glassfish v2 server... without any problems!
Does anyone already used the JAX-WS handler mechanism in BEA WLS 10? Any ideas?
Thx.Hi,
thx for your answer. Now I've found the problem. The BEA WLS don't accept null return value of the SOAPHandler method getHeaders(). If I return a dummy object everything wotks fine:
public Set<QName> getHeaders() {
return new TreeSet<QName>();
However I think this behaviour of the BEA WLS 10 is some kind of strange. Why do I have to implement the method getHeaders() if I don't want to use it.
Sun's Glassfish allows a null return value like expected. -
Jrockit multicast bug on RHEL4, WLS cluster does not works!
OS and Kernel Version: Linux achilles1 2.6.9-34.0.1.ELsmp #1 SMP Wed May 17 16:59:36 EDT 2006 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
We use Bea Weblogic 8.1SP5 with Jrockit JVM 1.4.2 on RHEL3. We upgraded to operating system to RHEL4, and found that the interface binding for multicast communication does not bind to the correct interface, it is always using the default interface. We tried it from a sample program, and found that the error is in the JVM.
This is a critical error for us, because our application server cluster use multicast for cluster communication.
No error msg. It seems like this BUG:
http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4082533 but it is solved.
List steps to reproduce the problem:
socket = new MulticastSocket(i);
if(s2 != null)
try
InetAddress inetaddress = InetAddress.getByName(s2);
System.out.println("Using interface at " + inetaddress.getHostAddress());
socket.setInterface(inetaddress);
System.out.println(socket.getInterface());
catch(SocketException socketexception)
throw socketexception;
}Helo,
You can reproduce it by this way (we have 6 RHEL4 servers, problem is the same). We tried with programs written in C (mcast,Tibco), multicast perfectly works on all interfaces on all servers. But in Java:
Server:
[wlxapp@webex3]$ uname -a
Linux webex3 2.6.9-34.0.1.ELsmp #1 SMP Wed May 17 17:05:24 EDT 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
Problem - with Bea mukticast tester (or any Java class), using the nondefault webex3-priv interface(eth1):
[wlxapp@webex3]$ java -cp wl9.jar utils.MulticastTest -N webex3_priv -I webex3_priv -A 224.1.1.11 Starting test. Hit any key to abort Using interface at 192.168.1.1 Using multicast address 224.1.1.11:7001 Will send messages under the name webex3_priv every 2 seconds Will print warning every 600 seconds if no messages are received
I (webex3_priv) sent message num 1
I (webex3_priv) sent message num 2
I (webex3_priv) sent message num 3
Did not receive any message.
But if we use the default webex3 interface (eth0)
[wlxapp@webex3]$ java -cp wl9.jar utils.MulticastTest -N webex3 -I webex3 -A 224.1.1.11 Starting test. Hit any key to abort Using interface at 10.4.20.4 Using multicast address 224.1.1.11:7001 Will send messages under the name webex3 every 2 seconds Will print warning every 600 seconds if no messages are received
I (webex3) sent message num 1
I (webex3) sent message num 2 Received message 2 from webex3
I (webex3) sent message num 3 Received message 3 from webex3
Works perfectly.
TCPDUMP:Messages are out from server(other srv also see it), so we have problems probably with receiving them:
[root@webex3]# tcpdump -i eth1
tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode listening on eth1, link-type EN10MB (Ethernet), capture size 96 bytes
11:42:56.647362 IP webex3_priv.idmz.t-mobile.intra.afs3-callback > 224.1.1.111.afs3-callback: rx type 95 (1472)
11:42:56.648168 IP webex3_priv.idmz.t-mobile.intra > 224.1.1.111: udp
11:42:56.648245 IP webex3_priv.idmz.t-mobile.intra > 224.1.1.111: udp
We examined the lsof output, the tester bind to all interfaces, so it should receive the messages:
[wlxapp@webex3]$ /usr/sbin/lsof -p 11127
gij 11127 wlxapp 8u IPv4 150320 UDP *:afs3-callback
We tried the test with Java 1.4.2 and 1.5 (Jrockit and Sun), the results are the same.
You can easily reproduce the problem with an RHEL4 server with 2 network interface.
Our real problem that if multicast have problems, our Weblogic clusters does not works. -
Hi all ~
First off, I'd just like to say I'm a bit new to weblogic, and so, if this
question is a "DOH!" sort of thing, please exscue this.
Now then, on to the good stuff...
I'm attempting to de-bug an install of BEA Weblogic 6.10 with SP1. This install
is SUPPOSED to be running peoplesoft ver 8.4. The problem is, no matter HOW I
try to call the main log-on page, the web server either acts like it's not there
(404 error) or gives me an internal server error (500). If anybody has any experience
with this sort of set up, and has gotten it to work, I'd love a hand.
Thanks all.
Chris.
~~ DOD BWI ~~I'm not sure what kind of response you will get in this forum. Maybe you could also post this question in one of the Solaris forums located here http://forum.sun.com/. Perhaps the kernel forum.

I see error

[BUG?] af:table table empty after descending sort and remove
Hi,
I think i found a bug.
I have an af:table binded to an arraylist in a backingbean. This List consist of an object that represents two strings (value 1 and 2).
Now when the table is loaded and I sort descending on one of the columns. After sorting i'll try to remove a row. The correct row is published to the bean with an af:setPropertyListener and removed from the arraylist. But when the table is rendered again there are no values in the table. But the arraylist still has all remaining values which will be shown after a sort again.
Fun fact: it only happens when sorting descending.
Anyone got an idea?

audit-core oracle.ide.audit.core 11Hi Harry (and others),
I have seen similar behavior. It seems like the client side rendering for some reason has a hard time processing the collection model wrapping the ArrayList in this particular case. The table renders empty. After sorting in ascending order, the rows are all back (visible) again.
Is anyone aware of issues with the rich table based directly on ArrayList (in combination with a changing set of values and/or sorting)? (seems like a corner case but is still not uncommon). Is there any indication that wrapping the ArrayList in a CollectionModel ourselves might be required?
Harry: do you know whether this issue is introduced with PS3 (11.1.1.4) or already existed in previous releases?
kind regards,

ER's for Facelet Support, or "why facelets is a 2nd class citizen in JDev"
Hello all,
After an [url http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=873997]interesting journey getting Facelets, Trinidad, and JDeveloper 11g to play nicely together, I thought I'd post some thoughts on the sort of things that (IMHO) JDeveloper 11 needs in order to offer real, true Facelets support. I'll offer my list below, which will include observations as well as suggestions:
1). If we are going to use true .xhtml files, JDeveloper 11g doesn't support drag-and-drop from the data control pallette on to the .xhtml page (I do have a workaround that I'll detail below, but that has its own issues).
2). It's literally impossible to mix JSP and Facelets in a single project. As soon as you configure your project for JSP (by adding taglibs, for instance), you can no longer create a Facelets page from the "New" gallery, as JDeveloper will tell you "Cannot add a facelets page to a project configured for JSP." It works both ways, too - if you add a Facelets file to your project, no longer can you create a JSP.
3). Even if I manually try to get data bindings (page definitions) working with .xhtml files, it doesn't seem to work (I did this by creating a jspx file and page definition and copying files / changing the data binding registry).
4). Because ADF Faces is so intertwined with Trinidad, it would be nice if faces-config.xml and web.xml would be properly configured automatically (as an option) for Trinidad. If I manually configure faces-config.xml by ensuring the view handler is not defined there, define an alternate view handler in web.xml, and then add a new Facelets page to my project, JDeveloper undoes all my work and puts the view handler back in faces-config.xml, causing major problems.
5). To work-around the poor support for drag-and-drop from data controls onto .xhtml files, I have just decided to use .jspx as my default suffix for Facelets files. I create them via picking "JSF Page" from the new gallery, and then I manually mess around with the source so that it's not really a JSPX anymore. However, if I do this, I don't have any tag completion support for the Facelets tags. If I download the TLD from [url https://facelets.dev.java.net/servlets/ProjectDocumentList?folderID=4190&expandFolder=4190&folderID=0]here, JDeveloper complains about not having a tag handler class.
6). Two words: WYSIWYG Editing. There isn't any for Facelets pages. I have ADF Template envy. As soon as you configure web.xml and faces-config.xml for Facelets, all WYSIWYG is broken. Now, I know "real" coders don't use WYSIWYG, but it's sure darn nice to switch from source view and take a quick peek at the layout. For new-to-JSF/new-to-Trinidad/new-to-ADF Faces developers, it's almost a hard-and-fast necessity.
7). Would be nice to have page definition inheritance working like for ADF Templates too.
8). Drag-and-dropped things from the data control tend to include f:validator tags. No problems there, but the tags don't include an validatorId. Facelets needs them. I work around this manually by adding validatorId="" to each of the tags. I know there is a velocity template somewhere that JDeveloper uses for this drag-and-drop, but I cannot find them - does anyone know where they are?
9). If, in a project with no ADF Faces - only Trinidad, if I drag-and-drop from the data control on to an ui:define tag in the structure window, I get all kinds of ADF Faces options for the drop, nothing for trinidad.
10). Facelets < 1.1.15 has a tiny bug with the ui:debug tag (you cannot expand the component tree). It would be nice to update the one included with JDev (1.1.12) - I have done this and it appears to work fine.
From a productivity point of view - #6, together with drag-and-drop support on to true .xhtml files (not .xhtml files with a .jspx extension) would elevate the game leaps-and-bounds.
I'm interested in any of the following:
a). Some wonderful news from Oracle that they already know all of these limitations and they are fixed in a patch release which was just uploaded to OTN 5 minutes ago ;)
b). Insight on better ways of working with ADF BC / ADF Bindings / Trinidad / Facelets in JDeveloper 11
c). Feedback and experiences from other people using Facelets in JDeveloper, particularly with ADF Data Binding.
Depending upon the level of interest, perhaps we can migrate the discussion over to the [url http://groups.google.com/group/adf-methodology]ADF Enterprise Methodology group and produce a Wiki page out of it.
Best regards,
JohnNice post John,
Here are some of my comments on those issues:
+1). If we are going to use true .xhtml files, JDeveloper 11g doesn't support drag-and-drop from the data control palette on to the .xhtml page (I do have a workaround that I'll detail below, but that has its own issues).+
+3). Even if I manually try to get data bindings (page definitions) working with .xhtml files, it doesn't seem to work (I did this by creating a jspx file and page definition and copying files / changing the data binding registry).+
I tried that a while back too because Facelets is so much more powerful than anything else to achieve high performance and powerful templating in JSF, but it's completely unsupported. I tried all possible combination of servlet-mapping aand servlet-filter-mapping. AFAIK there's no way to do it yet and Oracle will most likely delay the support of Facelets + Databindings until JSF 2.0 where there won't be much choice. If you got them working somehow in 11g, I would be very very interested in getting a small demo project.
+2). It's literally impossible to mix JSP and Facelets in a single project. As soon as you configure your project for JSP (by adding taglibs, for instance), you can no longer create a Facelets page from the "New" gallery, as JDeveloper will tell you "Cannot add a facelets page to a project configured for JSP." It works both ways, too - if you add a Facelets file to your project, no longer can you create a JSP.+
I can understand that one, I'm sure it comes from a a very good intention from Oracle as Facelets actually replace the JSP engine, meaning the pages don't get parsed by JSP, thus tag classes don't get called. So I assume that limitation was to prevent people from thinking that Facelets integrates with JSP while it's not at all. However, I can understand that some applications might want to leverage both technologies at the same time
Regards,
~ Simon
