Buggy appletviewer?

Hello!
I'm developing an applet and now I have to find out an error. To do that, I wanted to run it in the Java appletviewer in debug mode. The problem now is, that when I restart the applet in the viewer the applet's GUI is totally messed up. Is this a bug of the appletviewer? In a normal browser the reload causes no problem with the GUI repainting?

  • Bridge buggy opening file in photoshop CS3

    I have totally uninstalled (removing every bit!), re-installed, deleted prefs ad nauseum. If I start CS3 from the application icon (yes it is still in the default folder where I installed it *again* yesterday) all is well. If I try to open a photo from Bridge by right clicking I get two choices: open in Photoshop 10.0.1, or open in Photoshop 10.0.1 (default)
    Why does the right click on either choice open a buggy problem? First I'm told the application moved (it didn't and deleting the prefs didn't help) then, whether I chose repair or not, it opens but tells me that all my filters didn't load and it lines my menu bar with at least a half dozen "onOne" menus. Then when I close I get the message that it quit unexpectedly.
    I just had to go through a long process (thank you Adobe for the knowledge base!) getting my license to work again. Now I find there is some kind of communication problem between Bridge and CS3.
    Maybe that's why Adobe stopped supporting older versions. The program has gotten too big and buggy?
    If I drag the file from Bridge to the opened Photoshop (from the application folder) it opens perfectly. Since I have a work around, this isn't crucial, but I really wonder if anyone can explain the communication bug? Not much chance I'll spend the money for an upgrade to CS4. Especially since support will stop as soon as CS5 comes out. CS3 is buggy enough for me.

    Anne, with all respect, I differ with you. It's easy to blame the user when problems happen. I happen to be paranoid about maintaining my computer and so far, after switching to my Mac, it is mainly Adobe programs that cause problems, no matter how careful I am. Of course I might avoid problems by never installing useful plugins (and sometimes it is the plugin that causes a problem). Possibly my installation of the OnOne plugins (I really love these) caused this problem with Bridge.
    Computers are almost essential; for me one main enjoyment in life is working with my photos. I usually can figure out my problems on my own --learned to do that when I was running Windose :-) but in all fairness there are quirks and bugs that are NOT the user's doing. I figure if I'm not having problems it's luck as well as being careful.
    Hoping you won't take offense. The few times I have visited the forums you have been kind and helpful.
    Ramón, I will be checking out the Bridge forums from now on. This discussion has probably run it's course. Thank you again.

  • Forms 6.0 Server and Appletviewer

    Help!!! I've been trying for days to get the forms 6.0 server to work with my forms through the appletviewer.When I try to run the form through the applet viewer using static.htm the developer splash screen comes up a java window opens then nothing happens.
    I can however run the form through developer forms designer in the appletviewer when I do run as a web form.

    Does your static.htm page have the username, password, and hostname in the SERVERARGS parameter? If not, try adding it and see what happens.

  • Imessage is buggy, i can login to it but does discontinues to verify and goes back to the login page,

    The problem with imessage with me and same thing too for my facetime, i can login but discontinues to verify and goes back to the login page. This is the second time where imessage is not working, the first time was "Unable to verify email" error, but i manage to solve it by just restarting my ipod. The second time, restart doesn't solve the issue, i wonder the iMessage app is pretty buggy, or servers are busy etc. I need help on this, does anyone has the same problem?

    The error message printed to the console quite clearly states the problem: applet not public, cannot access applet with modifiers ""
    change your declaration of "class login extends JApplet" to "public class login extends JApplet", and you'll find it works fine.

  • Applet working on JBuilder but not on appletviewer!!!!!

    I ve made a keybord.Here some buttons are missing. The user presses the buttons and shapes a word!When the jButton22 is pressed(Comparison button) the applet tells him if the result is true or false and displays an image(imageIcon foruser in jlabel forusers) with the correct result!!The jlabel for users is setVisible(false) and setVisible(true) when the comparison button is pressed and the result is wrong.My problem is that the jlabel works fine in JBuilder but when i run the applet in appletviewer the jlabel forusers isnt showing!!If i minimize and maximize the window then the label appears and from that point is working properly!Any suggestions would be appreciated!Thank you!!

    I performed some testing on your program, and get an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException on one of the buttons. So, I guess there have to be some implementation logic error.
    Since I have no idea what your program is trying to achieve, here's what you can do:
    1. Try to shorten your program.
    2. Add your code piece by piece.
    3. Perform some logic testing.
    4. Repeat steps 2 & 3.

  • Safari 5.1.9 problems in OSX10.6.8 (won't open pages/tabs-buggy)

    Hi,
    My rig:
    OSX 10.6.8
    iMac Late 2006 Intel Core 2 Duo 4Gb RAM
    Safari 5.1.9
    I have two tabs that are working ok: facebook & Gmail, but Safari fails to open new tabs.
    When I try to open other sites in a new tab, I get the "safari can't open the page because it can't connect to the server" error.
    The internet is working ok as Firefox is fine.
    I've updated the security patches for Snow Leopard.
    I've done the Java updates.
    I've also tried re-installing Safari via download from Apple.
    I've run Disk Utility to repair the disk (does it actually do anything?)
    I've tried repaired permissions via Onyx & Disk Utility.
    All I want is a reliable browser!
    Is this Apple's twisted way to get people to update from Snow Leopard and/or buy a new iMacs??
    I tried Chrome & its a piece of crap - so slow & buggy!!
    Firefox is ok atm but it does crash ocassionally (that's why I ditched it some time ago).
    I went back to Safari (my previous default browser) & maybe it was a bad move!?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Vic.

    Hi,
    I managed to solve the issue by stumbling across a thread on FineTunedMac.
    I was actually about to close the tab then glanced at it.
    In the end the problem was with Little Snitch 2.3.6.
    Somehow it had blocked any connection on port 80 & once I deleted that the world was good again.
    Strange!!
    Thanks for your help.
    Will closing down Java create any issues with web browsing?
    I've checked my extensions & they're set up to auto update in preferences, so I assume they should be ok.
    Kind Regards,
    Vic.

  • Applet with Image not working in Browser, works fine in Appletviewer

    Hi,
    I encountered a problem , running my Applet in a browser. (IE and Firefox, ame problem).
    When I use an ImageIcon, it doesnot work. in a browser.(When I remove the icon, it's oke)
    In Appletviewer it works fine. In the browser I first got a security-exception.
    I dealed with that by signing the jar (with the test certificate).
    Now the browser's java console is not showin any faults, but the applet is showing no picture at all.
    Only the text of the label is shown.
    Can someone help me?
    I downgraded the class to a very simple form, shown underneath. This runs fine in Appletviewer, but not in a Browser.
    Best Regards
    Remco

    I have recently had the same problem, after lots of searching, I found that only Java 1.1 is supported by browsers, leaving out everything else including swing. So if you cant play the applet through your browser you need to download the appropriate patch i think about 5mbs.
    You should find one at java.sun.com/getjava/download.html
    Mine worked fine afterwards

  • Applet not runing in Browser,although it runs in appletviewer.

    Hello! I have created an applet which connects to an Oracle Database executes some queries and after some processing on the data selected it returns the results. When i run the applet using appletviewer everything works fine.(appletviewer -J-Djava.security.policy=C:\folder\mypolicy.java.policy C:\folder\applet2.html is the command i used).
    The code of the HTML file i used is:
    <html>
    <head>
    </head>
    <body>
    <applet code=applet2 archive=applet2.jar width=600 height=600>
    </applet>
    </body>
    </html>
    However when i run the html page(Mozilla Firefox) i get a white page with a frame where Java starts to load and then nothing happens. The frame remains white and i don't see the results that i see when i use appletviewer. I really don't know what is wrong and i would appreciate any answers cause i am new to this.
    Thanx in advance...

    However when i run the html page(Mozilla Firefox) i get a white page with a frame where Java starts to load and then nothing happens.It likely threw an exception, which you can get the detail of via the browser if you look for something like "Show Java Console".
    Another note: The applet viewer runs in a different security model than browsers do, so if your applet is trying to access resources on the client machine, the browser isn't going to let that happen. In this case, probably it shouldn't be an applet in the first place.

  • Applet not working in browser, works with appletviewer

    Hi,
    I'm trying to use an Applet program from the tutorials which keeps on displaying time in the HTML page:
    import java.awt.Graphics;
    import java.util.*;
    import java.text.DateFormat;
    import java.applet.Applet;
    public class home_page extends Applet implements Runnable {
        private Thread clockThread = null;
        public void init()
        public void start() {
            if (clockThread == null) {
                clockThread = new Thread(this, "Clock");
                clockThread.start();
        public void run() {
            Thread myThread = Thread.currentThread();
            while (clockThread == myThread) {
                repaint();
                try {
                    Thread.sleep(1000);
                } catch (InterruptedException e){
                // the VM doesn't want us to sleep anymore,
                // so get back to work
        public void paint(Graphics g) {
            // get the time and convert it to a date
            Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance();
            Date date = cal.getTime();
            // format it and display it
            DateFormat dateFormatter = DateFormat.getTimeInstance();
            g.drawString(dateFormatter.format(date), 5, 20);
        // overrides Applet's stop method, not Thread's
        public void stop() {
            clockThread = null;
    }When i use this program in the browser, i cannot see the clock but i'm able to see only a gray box. I'm using the applet tag within the HTML page.
    I can see the same compiled applet running successfully with appletviewer program.
    Please help me out of this predicament.

    Okay, i have 2 bugs with maverick.  First, when I delete a file within a window, the files deletes but the preview doesn't delete until I close the window and reopen it.  Second, I work on a network of computers and the search feature is now buggy...  When I search for a file, A) it asks me if it's a name, or it wont produce anything, and B), its slower than in prior OS versions and in some instances I have to toggle to a different directory and go back to my original directory in the search: menu bar or the search wont produce anything...  Very buggy.

    It appears to me that network file access is buggy in Maverick.
    In my case I have a USB Drive attached to airport extreme (new model) and when I open folders on that drive they all appear empty. If I right click and I select get info after a few minutes! I get a list of the content.
    It makes impossible navigate a directory tree.
    File access has been trashed in Maverick.
    They have improved (read broken) Finder. I need to manage a way to downgrade to Lion again.

  • My iPhone 5c has been buggy since the update, it slowed down ( a lot) and it can't connect to wifi as well. How do I fix this?

    so I have an iPhone 5c bought last summer, so it's not even a year old. I have never had any problems with the wifi until a day ago. Yesterday I updated to ios8.2 and my pone became really slow and buggy. And it won't connect to the wifi. I checked on my tablet and the wifi works fine on there. How do I fix this problem?

    What troubleshooting steps have you attempted to correct this issue? I have a 5s running iOS 8.2 and have not experienced any problems. User troubleshooting steps are restart, reset, restore from backup and restore as new. Make sure you make a backup of the device before attempting any troubleshooting. If you go through all of the steps, including restore as new and then test the device before adding any content back to it and it is still not functioning correctly, then make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple store to have the hardware checked. If it functions correctly when restored as new, then try restoring the backup again. If it acts up after that, then there is something corrupt in your backup file. Restore as new again and sync your content back manually.

  • Premiere Elements 12 Problems  ... still quite buggy?

    Hi all,
    I used Premiere Elements 11 up to now. Currently testing Version 12 - which appears to be quite buggy to me... Now I just wanted to make sure that it's not me being too dump to find the correct settings...
    BTW: I'm using a MacBook w/ Retina from 2012 and most current OS X Maverics as well as a freshly updated APE 12 Testversion (...with German Language)...
    1. ...and most anoying one: scrolling in the Timeline left and right on (Apple Magic-)Mouse works now just the other way round than in APE 11 (...which was quite intuitive to me... :-( ) ...I've found some settings for the keyboard, but nothing regarding mouse wheel scroll direction. BTW: is it possible to use up and down scrolling to pan up and down the video-tracks instead of moving back and forth in the timeline (...again).
    2. Most interesting new feature of V 12 is the motion tracking (at least for me):
    a) I can only use motion tracking with those childish graphics and animation. I just want to use it for simple text as the help message suggests should be possible as well. But the button to place texts is disabled when motion tracking is enabled... is there another way to enable motion tracking on a existing text-and/or-graphic-overlay?
    b) I have a lot of videos filmed with a GoPro in upside-down-mode, meaning that I have to rotate the videos by 180 degree in Premiere. Motion tracking appears not to be able to handle that. While objects can be tracked (which is also not too easy as i had to find out) the motion track seems to be way more suitable for the non-rotated video... I've found no way, yet to rotate the track as well (without roating the graphic as well).
    So... unfortunately Version 12 is a bit frustrating up to now... Thanks for your help!
    Losty

    Sorry for your challenges, Losty. I'm having great success with version 12!
    Of course, Mac Retina displays are known for causing problems like the ones you're experiencing. I'd hoped Mac would have fixed this by now.
    You can certainly use your own text, graphic or even a picture-in-picture with Motion Tracking. I demonstrate how in tutorial on the left side of this page. http://Muvipix.com/pe12.php
    As for 2b, I have no idea why you're shooting your videos upside-down, but you certainly are adding an unnecessary level of complexity to your post production. I'd recommend that you first right-side-up your videos in Premiere Elements and then output the finished video using Publish & Share/Computer/AVCHD with the M2T 1920x1080 preset to output the fixed video. You can then use your righted videos in a new project and do all the Motion Tracking you want with it.
