Build customized search functionality

Hi,
I have atleast 1000 documents to be uploaded into the portal content areas.I have to build the customized search functionality for the user to be able to search for docs in specified categories.
How do I go abt that.
Thanx
-Vipul

Items should indeed appear on category page soley because you have set the the category of the item. You can't upload an item to the category page directly.
So if you've set the category of the item and it's not on the category page we need to think about why that might be happening. The first possibility is that they portlets on the category page (since category pages are just pages with custom search portlets automatically showing the results). By default the portlets will be cached in webcache. However the cache headers should mean that the portlets are only cached for 10 minutes. That would be the first thing to consider I think.

  • Can we collect email addresses and build a search function?

We want to build an app using InDesign, DPS and Edge Animate (plus some custom html5 and javascript if necessary/possible).
We'd like to have a form somewhere in the app where users can enter their email addresses if they want to receive email from us. Is this possible with these tools and some html5 and javascript brought in to InDesign?
Can we build a search function within the app that searches all the text?
I understand that by using a Folio Overlay, the app can bring in a web page. So, could we, for example, create a web page that shows latest stock prices, and then bring that into the Folio Overlay, so that the user always sees those latest prices? What happens if the user's iPad is not connected to the internet? Can we set a default image for the overlay? Also, will the app remember the page it downloaded last time if it can't connect at a later date?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
We developed the first example of search within a DPS folio for the Sotheby's app. In addition, MEI  integrated search within the core of our DPS storefront and custom UI solution, MEI Portico. Within a Portico-powered UI, you can search for folios, specific articles and other content and can then navigate directly to the desired content.
Please feel free to reach out to discuss.

  • How to build custom search using API - 10.1.2

    Hi,
I have been looking through some documentation and i can't seem to find how to use the API in portal 10.1.2 to create a custom search. Any help or samples would be appreicated.
    Thanks

The Search API is a new feature in 10.1.4. In older version a custom search portlet was provided, no API.
    <br><br>
You can build a search engine yourself in Portal 10.1.2 by using the Oracle Text API. The search engine should implement security however which can be quit difficult to accomplish. It is not impossible however.
    <br><br>
In most cases it is has less impact to upgrade to release 10.1.4 then to build a search engine yourself. My advice would be to install 10.1.4 on a test system and play around with the new search API. You can then decide whether it is worthwhile to upgrade to 10.1.4 where you profit from several nice new features.

  • Custom search functionality in one of sharepoint list

    Hi
I want to enable search functionality such as google in one of sharepoint list, such that in Allitmes.aspx of sharepoint list, put the textbox and when user want to search for example “sharepoint”, give him/her
suggestions that contain part or whole "sharepoint"word (such as “like” operaion in sql). These suggestions should be based on one of sharepoint list column,
    user fill this column beforehand.
    How can do this?!
    Thanks.

  • Return custom search results from a list

    Hello all!
I'm currently on a Windows 7 migration project where we need a custom search function for our SP2010 page.
Basically, the user will enter there machine barcode into the search box and query information from a list. This query will only return information relevant to that users machine barcode. For example, the user searches there barcode and the return results
ONLY displays information for that user/barcode, information such as delivery date, delivery location, migration POC, etc..
What is the best approach to this scenario?
I'd like to do the least amount of custom coding as possible aka not using Visual basics.
    Thanks in advance!

If you create a custom column, probably Managed Metadata, called Machine number, you can then search for items in hte list which have that value.
This would work in both a search center, if you were to map that column to become a mapped property and then add it to the refiners bar, and on the list using metadata navigation in list settings > advanced.
    Zero code.

  • Custom Search Help for Functional Area of Cost Centre(KS01/KS02)

    Hi,
I need to implement a custom search help and custom enhancement for the field Functional Area in Basic Data tab of Cost Centre Create/Change(KS01/KS02) transactions. Details of the requirement are as below:
    1. There will be a custom relation for the Cost Centre category and Functional Area which was maintained thru a SAP standard table TKA05 and a custom table.
2.When the relation to Cost Centre category and Functional Area is a one to one it exist in the TKA05 and if its one to many it will be maintained in the custom table.
    3. The requirement is when the Cost Center to Functional area is maintained in table TKA05(One to One) in this case the corresponding Functional Area needs to be populated automatically after entering the cost centre and pressing a enter key by user.
4.When the Cost Centre Category and Functional area does not exist in table TKA05 and existing in custom table(One to Many) in this case the F4 should be enabled for user selection with the list of Functional area values corresponding to the cost centre category entered that are maintained in the custom table.
As per the functionality provided by SAP the input help(F4) of the field Functional area in Cost Center does not have any relation with Cost Centre Category. The existing F4 is from the Value Table(TFKB) attached to the domain of FKBER.
Please provide your valuable inputs to implement the above requirement. Your input will be rewareded.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Prasad.

    kalyani,
i can see your requirement in below way..
as it just reads: you need to assign the standard cost center help to a z cost center field in component /SAPSRM/WDC_UI_DO_ACC.. which actually is fetched though the component /SAPSRM/WDC_UI_BACKEND_SH
so, if you see the component controller of SAPSRM/WDC_UI_DO_ACC you will see the component
    USAGE_SH_F4     /SAPSRM/WDC_UI_BACKEND_SH
    USAGE_SH_F4     /SAPSRM/WDC_UI_BACKEND_SH     INTERFACECONTROLLER
so you can replicate the same functionality for your z field.
but can you clarify one thing.. why are you going for this z field in place of standard field ?

  • Add user search functionality in a custom form

    Hi,
I am new to IDM . I have two doubts regarding search functionality. Please help me out.
    1.     I want to add a user search option for a field and populate the value(user name ) from the searched result to that filed. The search option should have some search criteria like firstname ,lastname ,userid etc; depending on which we can search a particular user and after selecting one record that data should populate to that filed. Please let me know how can I archive that functionally? Is it possible to use the existing (out of box) search operation for it.
    2.     When we use selector, is it possible to change the default search option. I want to search depending on some criteria like firstname, lastname ,userid etc.
    Thank in advance.
    Regards,
    Nirupam

I know this is old post - but I dealed with this requirement one and I knew it's pain. So, I just want to share my little expereinced here if someone else needed it.
For this requirement - I have to customed the jsp pages. The file is tjspSearchUserTiles.jsp in the xlWebApp war file under tiles folder. What I did is check the current loging user's group. If he/she belong to Manager group, I set the search value Users.Manager Login equal to the username (this user name attribute alway available in the selvet section throught the USR BEAN.
If you could make this cutomization work from your OIM env you then could customize alot more.
Let me know if you need help - [email protected]

  • Help needed: Search function for custom Repository Manager

    Hi there,
i'm writing my own Repository Manager for EP 6.0 SP2 PL4.
I've serious problems getting the search function running. I'm using the 'new', Netweaver-based API.
I think, there are some general questions to answer:
    - My Repository Manager exposes lots of custom
properties to the system. I create the properties
       for example using following code:
       IProperty newProp = new StringSingleValueProperty(
         PropertyName.getPropertyName(
                  "{}" + myAttName),
         myAttVal,                         PropertyFlags.constructFlags(
                  true, false, true, false)
Is there any convention for the propertie's name?
I think it has to be written in lowercase only?
Can I use ANY namespace I want instead of the
        empty default namespace? (For example:
    - After indexing my resources (of course, containing my
custom properties), the TREX-Monitoring screen for my
index shows all my custom properties in the 'Document
Properties' area, but all uppercase chars are escaped
       somewhat. Is this OK?
    - Trying to use the index above to search for particular
resources in my repository by my custom properties
fails all the time ('no docs found...'); searching for
any system property works fine. What's the reason?
    - How can I force the (Property-) search uses my
       custom namespace-manager's methods
       isQueryPropertyNameUnderstood() and
       getQueryBuilder()
to perform a 'pure' property search by the repository
manager? It seems that the TREX always handles the
queries by itself, because my methods are never called.
    Thanx for you help,
    Daniel

I created a new manager and copied the classes exactly from the "simple" example and I see similar behavior. Actually, when I do this, folders are recursively copied, but not files. Again, browsing and viewing of files work fine. Again, I am not seeing any unexpected exceptions.
The only thing that changed were the names and namespaces. Nothing else at all was changed.
This makes me think I am missing some configuration somewhere or there is something special about the example project that the wizards are not creating. The only difference I see in the project file is an additional nature (com.tssap.selena.cmf.PatternNature), but I am not sure that is relevant.
    Wow, I am really stumped.

  • OWC PS5 - Content Presenter - Search functionality in custom list template

We have created a custom list template for displaying the contents and use this custom list template in the content presenter task flow.
We would need to implement Search functionality in the custom template.
Any pointers on how to achieve this?
    Thanks,
    Navaneeth

Sorry to see that this post hasn't had a response from the search team for so long.
1 Search will not find content in portlets (for instance page portlets).
That is correct. The content of portlets may be different for each user so indexing this content can provide misleading results. However, if you only need to index public content, Oracle Ultrasearch can be used to index all portal content, including that displayed through portlets.
2 If Search Results Type in a custom search portlet is set to Pages, the search will be made in page display name, page keywords and page description. It will not search for item content.
Searching for pages checks the following pieces of metadata:
    page name & display name
    keywords
    description
all custom text attributes associated with the page type
all custom url attributes associated with the page type
all custom file attributes associated with the page type
Items will not be searched but again, its possible to index the entire page using Ultrasearch.
3 It is not possible to search for items but get found item's page links as results.
This is incorrect. The custom search portlet allows the administrator to select the attributes that should be displayed from the search portlet's "edit-defaults" screens. From here, its possible to select the "page" attribute to be displayed with the search results. This means that you can search for items and then click on a link to go to the page on which the item resides.
Various improvements have been made for 9.0.4, including better control over the display of page results.

  • Custom XPath function & customize XPath expression builder

    Hi,
I have made several custom XPath functions and apparently it is not possible to customize the UI and add these functions to the XPath expression builder.
    Could someone confirm this ?
    Thanks

    Nobody knows the answer?
I just have the same question.

  • Do Report Builder support custom SQL Functions

    Hi All,
I’m new to SSRS Report builder. I had written a SQL query which executes really well when I run in Management Studio. I tried to put that same query in new report to everyone can easily access.  I build the DataSource and connection successfully tested.
At the time of creating new Dataset, I pasted same query and that’s where I got stuck.
Is it possible to add custom SQL Functions in the Report Builder SSRS?
The Syntax of method is as follow
    Create Function [dbo].[ufn_Sqlstatement]( @str as varchar(max)) RETURNS varchar(max)
    Thanks in Advance

You do not need to put the create function script into the query. It only needs to be executed once. Instead, run it on the database server. Then, simply call the function from your query:
    SELECT dbo.ufn_SQLstatement('select * from table')

  • Best way to build search functionality

we have a search functionality for the searching the order details. we have around 5 lacs+ orders and its taking so much time to get the details. we have indexed the DB fields but still too slow.
Now i am looking to buikd the search functionality with the verity, so i am checking how much helpful is this as everyday we get new orders and rerunning the query will take so much time.
when building the indexes for the first do i need to get all the records from the DB, if that is the case it will take so much time in the production and may impact to the production DB server.
can any one suggest best solution.

We use very large collections with SOLR, and the intiial index should not be too bad.  We have collections with 500k records, and it takes ~5-10 minutes to index (CF runs this in the background and it does not use JRUN.exe to perform this task)

  • Adding Global Search function in Webhelp

I have been asked to add global search functionality to my
website. As far as i understand, the only way of doing this using
Webhelp is to use merged projects?
As i have 40 separate XPJ files (some very large), this
merged projects method didn't work very well. For a start you got
lost in the vast number of projects and bookmarks displayed in the
merged TOC. Instead, from a main menu, each guide opens up in the
same fixed window and just displays its owns TOC. Curently you can
only search in the selected guide.
Having looked at Peter Graingers site, ZoomSearch would seem
to work OK. Does anyone know of any other method i could use or
    free alternatives to ZooomSearch?
    Thanks

First, if you Google "refresh page" you'll have several
JavaScript options available to choose from.
Second, I can't show you my merged WebHelp, because it's
proprietary online Help provided with our product, but I used
Peter's method for a merged project of 42 projects, ~2.5K topics,
and mucho graphics. Unfortunately, in a WebHelp merged project, RH
provides an anemic, basic search only.
We had elected to place our projects within 14 major
categories in the TOC, so as to reduce the size of the TOC when the
help was opened. Each category links to a "navigation" page in the
parent project that provides a description of the category and all
first-level topics within each project in the category. This
category structure helps the user identify the major functional
areas, and helps the seven writers keep track of where their
    particular projects appear.
    GETTING STARTED
    + Release Notes
    + Installation
    + etc.
    TRADING
    + Program Trading
    + Fixed Income Trading
    + etc.
This proved serendipitous when we decided to use Zoom, since
we were able to classify the same RH project folders under
identical Zoom categories, allowing users to select a single
category from a dropdown menu if they want more tightly focused
    results.
Because our help is provided on a CD and is distributed on a
customer's server, we've had to implement Zoom search in Javascript
mode. Admittedly, the JavaScript mode in Zoom doesn't provide full
functionality either, but it's still better than RH (you can use
wild cards, special characters (underscore, colon, slash, etc.) to
    "join" words, etc.).
    Some Zoom issues:
Since RH ignores special Zoom tags in source files, such as
ZOOMSTOP/ZOOMRESTART, ZOOMKEYWORDS, etc., and over-writes them in
the output when generating/publishing topic modifications, we are
running the Zoom indexer against the source files and placing the
five Zoom files (search.html, zoom_pageinfo.js, etc.) in the output
folder. The Zoom 5.0.1005 build will automatically rename the path
from the source "/projects" to the output "/mergedProjects" if you
    select that option.
Currently, a bug in Zoom replaces any closing HTML tag (HREF,
SPAN, etc.) that appears before a period, comma, semicolon, or
colon with a space. So, you need to run a Find/Replace to eliminate
those extra leading spaces (in the zoom_pageinfo.js file). I use
FAR for this; you can create a .FarRun file with entries like this
to do them in batch. Note that the 90_zoompageinfo_docsql01.FAR
FarList was created to contain only the zoom_pageinfo.js file, and
the "OpenFarList" line only needs to appear once in the .FarRun
file. After I run the Zoom indexer against the project, I only have
to double click the .FarRun file to run the batch replace.
    Good luck,
    Leon
