Build server for packages

Hi, I'm curious is something like http://cook.slitaz.org/, build server where you upload tarball with build scripts from AUR and it produce packages. Would be useful for people using Arch on older, slower computers to test packages not officially supported like razor-qt. Or better ask does Arch Linux have enough finances to support such kind of service.

One of Arch devs suggests [building and testing packages as a way of helping Arch: http://allanmcrae.com/2013/05/ways-to-c … rch-linux/
I found somewhat similar idea in the wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pacbuild but the service doesn't seem to run anymore.

I am modifying the correct httpd.conf file on the server, it just doesn't seem to work. - If I put the rewrite rules in the <Directory /> the rewrite works but it adds /Library/WebServer/Documents to the URL.
I also tried putting the rewrite rules in <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> but that did not work either.
mod_rewrite is enabled and running on the server.
I will post the rewrite rules again in the code brackets. Sorry for the long post. - If some one can try them out on their Leopard Server to see if they can get them to work, it would be much appreciated. Again, these work on my Leopard Client but I can't get them to work on Server.
-- The httpd.conf file posted above is just the default conf file found in /private/etc/apache2/

  • Build server for SOA Suite 10g

    Hi,
I am trying to set up a build server for some projects in SOA Suite 10g. I need to create some ANT scripts for building, and get the code from SVN.
I've seen numerous examples of this for SOA Suite 11g and Hudson build server, but it doesn't seem to be as straightforward for 10g (with which I have little to no experience).
If anybody has done something similar, or has some tips, suggestions, links etc. to share with me, that would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Enable Custom Authentication for License Server for Packager Server

How to enable processing of Custom Authentication for License Server for Packager Server?
    Please give examples.

If I understand your question, you want to use the Flash Access Manager and/or the Watched Folder Packager (both are components of the Reference Implementation) to package content for a license server that uses Custom Authentication. To accomplish this, you need to use the Flash Access SDK to create a policy that specifies Custom Authentication is used.  For example:
    Policy pol = new Policy(false);
    LicenseServerInfo licServer = new LicenseServerInfo(AuthenticationType.Custom);
    pol.setLicenseServerInfo(licServer);
// set rights and other policy attributes
Once you create the policy, place the policy file on the Packager Server, and you can use this policy to package content.

  • Automated build server for Arch? (like the sourceforge build system)

Has someone considered some kind of automated build system for Arch?
Something that would work like this:
    - It'd have every library and dependency possible installed.
    - It'd intelligently read the makefiles produced to see what libraries they used and compare them against a lookup table to see what Arch dependencies they then required. Failing that, it could use ldd and a second lookup table that matched libraries to packages.
    - It'd attempt to figure out the target binary to run (again, from the makefiles produced), and then run it. If it worked, it'd be marked as usable. If it didn't work, it'd be marked as needing fixing.
All of these points can fail, especially in the parsing of the makefiles; in each case, this would be noted by the system and user action could be taken.
In operation, it wouldn't take away from users managing their own packages. It'd just provide a secure environment to build packages in, and attempt to automate some of the process. In the best cases, the system would theoretically be capable enough to download a package's sourcecode, ./configure it, make it, make a package out of it, get the package verified as usable, then update the repo with it.
Note the verification step in the previous paragraph: I would never want this to be an automated system. Sure, it sound amazing on paper, and might even work for a little while, but sooner or later something would come crashing down and since repo management is quite a trust-based issue, everyone would freak out and they wouldn't want the build server anymore.

Who would have access to upload to such a build server? If it's the general public, then this is a security nightmare, as well as a growth curve nightmare. The monetary investment for a project like this would need to come from somewhere.
And yeah, something like this has been considered, and a working proof-of-concept has been sitting around for years. http://projects.archlinux.org/?p=pacbuild.git;a=summary . What this kind of project really needs is someone with some distributed computing smarts and dedication (and time) to get it off the ground in a form that will survive past a proof-of-concept barebones implementation.
One of the largest design challenges would be dependency resolution for batch upgrades. For instance, let's say we update libfoobar, which is depended upon by foo, bar, baz, and batman, the system needs to know that libfoobar needs to be built and installed in order to compile the rest of them against it.

  • Hardware for Java build server

I don't know if this is the correct area for the question, so I apologise if it is not...
The company I work for is budgeting a seperate build server for our developers to use. We are currently 100% sparc in the server environment. Does anyone have any real work benchmarks or experience with using different architectures for compiling code? We are looking at benchmarks between T2000, V40z, and x4200. It looks like we will get all three to get our hands on to test ourselves, but wanted to know if this has already been done and documented somewhere. The server will not be doing any application/db/etc work, just compiling. Are the FP shortcomings of the T2000 any issue with java compiliation? Would a 2x or 4x dual-core opteron be faster? Thanks in advance.

Depending on the size of your projects, the frequency of buildcycles, etc., you might just pull one of your oldest servers out of your serverfarm (and put a new one in instead) and use that.
That's the way most companies (and individuals) do it.
That machine doesn't have to be blazing fast, it hardly matters if a build takes 10 seconds or 30 for example, as usually people won't be waiting for it (or if they are they have other things to do while waiting like smoking a fag or drinking coffee which they'd otherwise do after the build was complete).
At home I use an old laptop with a Celeron 400 and 196MB RAM as my buildbox.
For my single project it's plenty fast enough, taking maybe 2 minutes when on my P4-2.4 with 1.5GB RAM it takes just over 1 minute to build the same project.
It could easily handle a lot more too, but at the moment I have no need for that excess capacity.

    Timo and dvohra21,
I found the mistake that javax.persistance jar is missed in modules folder. After added that and inculdeJavaRuntime i was able to compile model's build.xml.
When compiling view's build.xml im getting
    cannot access weblogic.security.acl.internal.AuthenticatedSubject
[javac] class file for weblogic.security.acl.internal.AuthenticatedSubject not found
    weblogic.servlet.security.ServletAuthentication.runAs(subject,request)
I have searched the forums and applied the solutions :
    1.Added com.bea.core.weblogic.security.identity jar,added weblogic 10.3 remote client and its corresponding jar weblogic.jar
    2.javax.security.auth.subject subject=Authentication.login(new URLCallbackHandler(un,pw));
      weblogic.servlet.security.ServletAuthentication.runAs(subject,request);
still im getting the same exception.Any idea on this? Thanks.

  • Best Practices for Packaging and Deploying Server-Specific Configurations

We have some server-specific properties that vary for each server. We'd
like to have these properties collected together in their own properties
file (either .properties or .xml is fine).
What is the best-practices way to package and deploy an application (as an
ear file), where each server needs some specific properties?
We'd kind of like to have the server-specific properties file be stored
external to the ear on the server itself, so that the production folks can
configure each server's properties at the server. But it appears that an
application can't access a file external to the ear, or at least we can't
figure out the magic to do it. If there is a way to do this, please let me
    know how.
Or do we have to build a unique ear for each server? This is possible, of
course, but we'd prefer to build one deployment package (ear), and then
ship that off to each server that is already configured for its specific
environment. We have some audit requirements where we need to ensure that
an ear that has been tested by QA is the very same ear that has been
deployed, but if we have to build one for each server, this is not
    possible.
Any help or pointers would be most appreciated. If this is an old issue,
my apologies, would you please point me to any previous material to read?
I didn't see anything after searching through this group's archives.
    Thanks much in advance,

The one draw back to this is you have to go all the way back to ant and the
build system to make changes. You really want these env variables to be
    late binding.

    Paul,
I have a similar situation in our project and I don't create ear filesspecific
to the environment. I do the following:
    1) Create .properties file for every environment with the same attributename
but different values in it. For example, I have phoneix.properties.NT,phoenix.properties.DEV,
    phoenix.properties.QA, phoenix.properties.PROD.
    2) Use Ant to compile, package and deploy the ear file
I have a .bat file in NT and .sh for Solaris that in turn calls theant.bat or
ant.sh respectively. For the wrapper batch file or shell script, you canpass
the name of the environment. The wrapper batch file will copy theappropriate
properties file to "phonenix.properties". In the ant build.xml, I alwaysrefer
to phonenix.properties which is available all the time depending on theenvironment.

It works great and I can't think of any other flexible way. Hope thathelps.

  • (Deployment) Minimum Software required for BUILD server and IIS WebServer

We have a simple .Net SDK application written using VB-2005 and the Crystal Reports XI (R2) DEVELOPER package.
The RPT files are posted on our BOE-XI (R2) server, and are called using the View-On-Demand method from the Page Server (similar to the SDK sample application). At some point in the future, our .Net applications may invoke some of the other SDK content types.
In our environment, the .NET web-applications are checked-in to Clear Case, and then sent to a stand-alone BUILD server to be compiled. The compiled .NET web-applications are then posted to a stand-alone IIS WebServer (not the IIS server that hosts BOE InfoView/CMC).
The BUILD server and IIS WebServer have to be as "stripped-down" as possible in order to go through our QAT and Impact Analysis process.
So far we have had success if we deploy the SDK-only install from the Crystal Reports XI (R2) DEVELOPER package, and the service packs, but it doesn't include all the SDK components for other BOE content types.
If we deploy the Client-only install from the BOE-XI (R2) package, and the service packs - it doesn't seem to include the CR-Viewer which we need. But it does includes a bunch of extra software (eg. UNIVERSE DESIGNER) on the desktop of the BUILD server and IIS WebServer that our QA guys don't like.
What are the Minimum Software required for BUILD server and IIS WebServer to support CR and BOE SDKs...?
Are there any install packages that contain JUST those components, and not all the extra software that is not needed to Build/Deploy in .NET...?
Thanks in advance for the advice.

Due to the CrystalDecisions.web.dll for the 2.0 framework being left off the BOE CD you will need to install the Crystal XI R2 runtimes as well as the BOE SDK.
To get the BOE SDK launch the Enterprise XI R2 installer and choose Server Install - not Client Install.  Choose a Custom install.  You'll be presented with a drop down list for the Enterprise components.  Deselect everything and then look for the Developer Components option.  You may have to drill down into one of the levels to find it.  Under Developer Components you'll see the BusinessObjects Enterprise .NET SDK.  Select it to install it.

  • Building packages remotely / build server?

    Hello.
I'm not sure whether this is the right sub forum to post to, so feel free to move my thread if it's in the wrong place.
My situation: I've got a fairly weak Asus EEE netbook (with a Atom N450 inside). This is obviously not ideal for when you want to build bigger packages, such as the Linux kernel. First off, it's pretty slow. Second, I'd like to use the netbook for stuff besides building packages. Third, having a high load over a long time is probably not healthy.
Now, I have a relatively powerful desktop computer. This machine can be on pretty much 24/7. So, here's my question: Is it possible to have makepkg build a package on a remote machine?
I imagine I would setup some kind of daemon listening to incoming connections on the desktop computer, and on the netbook side I would just "makepkg -si --remote xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" or something like that.
The benefit would be that you can build a optimized package for an older machine you have utilizing a newer (and hopefully better) machine, thus decreasing compilation time immensely.
Or maybe I could somehow get all the relevant flags etc. off of the netbook, make a Bash script on the desktop computer that setups the environment and executes makepkg? That would be fine by me. I'm guessing that's a slightly easier way to do it, as the flags are just some text strings.
If I recall correctly, I was searching on this matter a couple of months ago, and I found some old project (on the Arch Wiki) that would do exactly this, but I can't find it again. It didn't really seem to work, so maybe it was removed because it was useless information.
So yeah, this would be sort of like a "ordinary" build server, except that I don't need my own repository, and the flags wouldn't be safe/generic.

What is running on that desktop computer?
Can you connect via ssh and set up https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/De … ean_Chroot

  • What is the build version for Sharepoint 2013 Server including trial version there is one?

    Hello Community
When using WS2012 and Sharepoint 2013 Server, what
build version for a Sharepoint 2013 Server farm should
be applied and where do you get the cumulative update
for it (trial version also if there is one)?
        Thank you
        Shabeaut

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to know which SharePoint build version should be applied to Windows Server 2012 and where to get cumulative update.
If you want to use SharePoint in Windows Server 2012, you can use the RTM version 15.0.4420.1017.
For CU update and build version, I suggest you can refer the detailed article below:
    SharePoint 2013 Build Numbers
    Thanks

  • Save Queue / Watch Queue For "Build Server"

I'm trying to use Adobe Media Encoder CS6 as what we in the programming world call a "build server", i.e. watch for inputs that are new or changed and build output automatically when it finds them.
Specifically, I want AME to automatically notice when there are new or changed PPro sequences, and automatically encode output for those sequences.
At first, the "Watched Folder" feature seemed perfect. it will monitor a given folder and when a new file pops up automatically encode it.
    But there are 2 problems...
It doesn't seem to support sequences. Seriously?
Even if it did support sequences, it only seems to look for new items - not modified
So then I started thinking about the "Save Queue" approach (queue up all my PPro sequences in AME, Save the queue, backup the "batch.xml" file, then "restore" the "batch.xml" file later when I need to re-export)
Doing that would kind of give me a "Watched Folder" kind of functionality for sequences, except:
It's actually the opposite of Watched Folder in that it would only re-export existing sequences and *not* new ones (of course, I guess I could always restore, add any new sequences, then re-back-up the "batch.xml" again...)
It's not automatic - I'd have to manually do the restore / run open AME
A sequence would always be encoded regardless whether it actually changed.
The "Watched Folder" seems to be a no-go because it doesn't support sequences. The "batch.xml" seems pretty kludgy, but I guess it's better than having to manually re-enter the sequence information every time it changes (i.e. PPro > select sequence > File > Export > Select filename > Say yes to replace it > choose "entire sequence" > choose "Queue" > say "yes" to replace filename again > ugh).
Does anybody have any ideas? I can't believe I'm the only person in the world that has the seemingly basic unmet need.

Oh, one other thing I noticed about the "Save Queue" approach.
If you look at the batch.xml file itself, you'll notice that the "parentprojectfile" is not the sequence you exported, but rather a copy of it.
For example, I have a project "e:\video\home movies\dvd7-003.prproj", with a sequence called "master". I exported this sequence via Export > Media > Queue, the looked at the "batch.xml" that was created by AME > File > Save Queue.
The parentprojectfile was not "e:\video\home movies\dvd7-003.prproj", but rather "c:\windows\temp\dvd-003_8.prproj". A first I thought it was just a "snapshot" copy of the project, but a file comparison showed they are very, very different. Actually, a cursory glance would have shown that: my e:\ project file is 7.7MB, the c:\ project file is only 5.5MB.
So long story short, I would not trust a backup / restore of "batch.xml" to do what I want.
It's not pointing to the same project, it's not even pointing to a copy of the project, and if my temp directory gets cleaned out, AME will fail when you try to encode (since it's referencing a file that no longer exists).

  • Business Objects Query Builder - application server for data connections

    Hi experts,
I am trying to flush out all instances where we have universes with connections pointed to the wrong application server. I was hoping to use query builder to show me the application server being used for all connections (metadata.dataconnection)
    Is this possible?
Edited by: Khaled McGonnell on Nov 3, 2010 6:11 PM

    Hi Srinivas,
    I had tried SELECT * already : )
The application server is the server on which the BI system you are connecting to is located. You have to define this when you create the connection in Universe Designer.
You can see the application server for "connections if you use the following query:
    select si_server from ci_systemobjects where si_kind = 'Connection'
However, these are not the connections used by universes. These connections are from logged in users. Any ideas?

There are two main annoying problems with Flash Builder and swc's:
    1.  Flash Builder doesn't reflect changes made to swc files
Solution : First of all - keep your swc files inside your project folder, you can also disable global swc cache: change as3api.cpp code, refresh swc in flashBuilder bug!
    2. Flash Builder breakes content inside swc files (and also popular problem "TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.display::MovieClip@1f21adc1 to...")
Solution : locate the project .actionScriptProperties file and set useFlashSDK=”false” :  Flash Builder 4.7 – useFlashSDK | In Flagrante Delicto!
In this case you can also download latest Apache Flex SDK to target new Flash player versions: http://flex.apache.org/
    Hope this helps!

  • Prevent Scheduled Build from Running for Check-Ins Committed by Build Server

    Hi there,
    I am using TFS 2013.
I have a scheduled nightly build that runs only when there have been check-ins.
The problem is that my build process checks-out/in a couple files used for custom versioning. This is done under the machine account of the build server.
Even though no check-ins were committed by developers - the scheduled build sees the check-ins done by the build server and thus, executes another nightly build.
Is there a way I can prevent scheduled builds from running if the only check-ins were from the build machine?
    Cheers,
    Keith

    HI Keith,
I don't think we can achieve this kind of conditional trigger from TFS build definition. We had a similar situation so we disabled the TFS build and started the build using Powershell (windows scheduled task). Below is the powershell script. The scripts
gets the history for the day and checks for the user passed as parameter if even one changeset is not by the user the script will queue a build.
