Building an online inventory system using Oracle fusion

I am developing an online inventory system which is my college project and I don't know where to start
But I have collected materials and learned some about the inventory but I don't have knowledge about jsp/jsf or simply j2ee much. And I saw videos of the jDeveloper, Oracle ADF and many good stuffs
So can anyone guide through it, just a little
I am not asking to build the project. I just wanted some opening, where to start
And i have built a database in oracle .
And gone through some tutorials provided such as "Building Fusion Web Applications" available on cue cards.
I have understood the framework a little but i don't know where to start
Build UI or Business Components or else or a login page .
I have login details set to the database but i don't know how to implement in ADF Security.

Thanks a lot for ur information.
I have gone through the referred documents and also done an example about the ADF Security from Cue Cards.
But i want to know something about the Security about the adding Users.
How can we add, drop and edit users from within the Fusion application or a web application, as for now as in the example we create the users and roles by using the jDeveloper.
To be clear, like in any other webpages like in a mailing websites or any other.
As in my program, i want the function to add, edit and remove users through the application.
I also had written similar comment in Shay's blog and he directed some good thing but I couldn't get to the point.
Is there any example or tutorials for this ?

  • Implementing interface using Oracle Fusion

Hey All, my company is responding to a tender but one of the things it specifies is that if any middleware is required it should be implemented using Oracle Fusion.
Up until this point I'd never even heard of Oracle Fusion but am trying to get up to speed fast, I need to know just enough to know we can do it and how hard it would be.
To my question then, I guess they want us to use Fusion to build the interface between their existing app and ours, but Fusion seems to be a big stack of products... Can anybody point me to the specific product we would be using to build something like that, and some good resources to get an understanding of it. Also what is the learning curve like with this product suite?
    Any help appreciated.
    Martyn

    Hi Martyn,
Fusion Middleware is a big stack but for integrations you can use SOA suite (or AIA). This in turn is a collection of multiple components. See below for some guidance.

  • Oracle HTML DB Tutorial: Building an Issue Tracking System with Oracle XE

    Hello.
I am using Oracle XE and have loaded the sample Issue Tracking System.
I had to set the time-out to 100 seconds as explained in the Oracle XE thread: “Problem with importing HTML DB applications” (Problem with importing HTML DB applications
I am trying to create users.
    The documentation at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/pdf/issue_tracking_tutorial_1.6.pdf
on page 82 discusses using HTML DB authentication. However, my understanding is that the HTML DB in Oracle XE currently uses only DATABASE authentication.
Is there any documentation on creating users for the sample Issue Tracking System using Oracle XE?
    Thanks!

    Ricky,
I am trying to create users.
    The documentation at
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/pdf/issue_tracking_tutorial_1.6.pdf
on page 82 discusses using HTML DB authentication. However, my understanding is that
the HTML DB in Oracle XE currently uses only DATABASE authentication.Well, in order to log in to the XE management GUI you use the database account. This is correct.
But for authenticating to the application you are going to build, you still have all possible authentication schemes available as in HTML DB (standalone).
Well, you should be able to just go ahead and create the HTML DB users in your workspace (for example HR). In XE a workspace corresponds to an actual Oracle database user, a workspace is created implicitly for the user.
Thus, just go to Home > Application Builder and will find on the right hand side under "Tasks" the link "Manage HTML DB Users".
There you can create the users in your workspace for your application.

  • How to use oracle fusion middleware for integration project ?

    hi all,
in my projects, customer (a bank) already has many applications (bankend & frontend) that are complicatedly connected. I intend to use oracle fusion middleware to integrate all applications and make adding new applications in the future easier. I have worked through documents in the oracle website but I still have no idea how to use oracle fusion middleware to address the requirement, besides oracle fusion middleware includes a bundle of applications I don't know which one I would need.
could anyone give me some instructions ? appreciate your help.
    thank very much,

    Hi,
For this short description of environment, could be ODI is a incredible tool to help you...

  • Document management system using oracle text

i plan to create document management system using oracle text with following features
    1) document comparision
    2) document search
    and more...
can oracle text be used to display documents of various formats by converting them to HTML. and can search keywords be highlighted in the document.
    please help!

Have you ever considered doing this in Oracle Application Express (free on top of the Oracle database)? How about something like:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31036_01/doc/appdev.22/b28839/up_dn_files.htm
Index the files using the CONTEXT index, and perhaps the docs' meta with it using the Oracle Text MULTI_COLUMN_DATASTORE, and then when you write your query for a report on the documents include a search string.
I've created a number of APEX-based document management systems and it is quite easy once you get the hang of using this environment. I suggest looking at some of the tutorials/how-to documents and you'll be on your way quickly.
Start with the upload application. Once you can get your documents in, create a report that shows everything except the document. Verify all of this works correctly.
Add some "items" to the page for the report, and include them as bind variables in the where clause.
After that, add your Oracle Text index to the database, and toss in a "text-field" item to the APEX page. Modify your report query, adding the CONTAINS clause, and use the newly created item as a bind variable. There's your keyword search.
Linking to Oracle Apps is done through API's and may be over database links.
Hope it helps. Though not a step-by-step how to document, this should point you in the right direction. Get familiar with APEX as that covers most of what you described.

  • Why should one use Oracle fusion middlewr... (11g) over Java Developement

    Hi ,
    i work with Forms 10 g.
At my client site one of authorities asks that why one should migrate to Oracle fusion middle... (11g).
Since there is much use of java, what are the crutial advantages over Purely Java based application.
it's my duty to give him the suitable answer and since i am unknown to 11g so kindly guide us
    with the answer.
if possible kindly mail me at [email protected]
    thanks !!!
    Amit

    Amit,
Good question, I will post part of the answer as a Java/JEE developer as a quick list off the top of my head.
As wiith any excellent Java based IDE like Eclipse, IBM Rational Application Developer and SUN NetBeans - Oracle JDeveloper as part of Oracle Fusion Middleware provides a fully integrated deployment environment for the entire stack of technologies. An example stack would be (from the top presentation tier to the lowest database integration tier) the following...
JSF/ADF (bridges presentation layer JSP/Servlets with business layer entity beans)
EclipseLink (bridges business layer entity beans with integration layer JDBC database store)
OFM provides in addition to standard Java SE application support - all you need to develop enterprise EE or distributed Web Services applications. The embedded WebLogic server will ease deployment and debugging of your enterprise app before deploying to a production server. The embedded server also provides support for JNDI, JMX, JMS and container-managed JPA/EJB3 development.
Note: If you are using JPA Entities in your SE application - you will see a mostly seamless transition to also using those entities in an enterprise container like WebLogic or Glassfish.
Also: If you wish to keep part of your application outside of java in .NET for example then you will want to check out the SOA pattern of using SDO (Service Data Objects - part of EclipseLink) to link non-Java based data such as a .NET originated web services xml stream to Java EE in your distributed app.
    thank you

  • Implementating Auto response system using Oracle

    Hi,
How can we make use of 9iAS to perform the following job:
When a user submit a request through email, the email will trigger an insert of a new request record in database. When user wants to know the status of the request, he can just type the request id in subject and an email with necessary information about the request will be sent back to user in a form of email.
Can we do this? what are the things we need and how to go about doing this?
    Please advise.
    Thanks in advance.

Oracle9iAS Email provides extensible Server Side Rules and a PL/SQL API which can be used to create the functionality you describe.
At a high level, you might consider the following:
    - Create a custom server side rule that executes when a new request is recieved (how you define a new request is up to you). One of the actions of this rule could be to create a request record in a database. Another action could be to provide a "canned" response back to the sender.
    - A custom rule would be created to retrieve the status information based on your request ID when a follow-up message was received.
    - The retrieved information would be formatted into an email and sent to the requestor using the PL/SQL API's.
Additional information regarding 9iAS Email and Server Side Rules / PL/SQL API's is available in the Oracle9iAS Email Developers Guide (available on OTN) or at http://otn.oracle.com/products/emailserver/content.html

You might want to ask this question in the SOA forum. To get there ...
at the top of this page you will see a set of links that look like "Forum Home » Technology Network Community » Certification".
Click on 'Forum Home' to get to the Forum Home page.
Then press Ctrl+F to enable search in your browser.
Enter SOA in the search box, and if you are using Internet Explorer you might want to press the Next button.
    You will see a list
    SOA & Process Management
      SOA Suite
      BPEL
Applications Integration using Oracle Fusion Middleware
      Business Process Management Suite
More... You could click on 'SOA Suite' to chat with people who use the SOA Suite.
You could click on 'More...' to see whether there are other useful forums.
Just to satisfy my curiosity, why did you select the Certification forum for this question?

  • Integration with Oracle Fusion Apps SaaS

    Hi,
I have the following integration requirement in my on-premise SOA/ADF application
    1) Get Service Contract details from Oracle Fusion apps cloud instance ( Enterprise Contracts) given a contract number. The details include i) Name ii) Owner iii)Type iv) Business Unit v) Start Date vi) End Date viii) Party details etc..
    2) Create/Get Invoice in Fusion apps cloud instance ( Oracle Financials Cloud ?) from my application.
    3) Create an Order into the the Oracle Fusion apps Order management cloud from my application.
For the same, I started looking into the OER (https://fusionappsoer.oracle.com/) provided by oracle to find Assets/Services that help us integrate with the SaaS.
However, I could not find a right service for my above requirements. Here are my findings ( right or wrong) :
    =======================================
    a) For Order Creation ( requirement (2) above):
-> For Creating an Order, I see a service called Sales Order Service (oracle.apps.crmCommon.orders.salesOrdersService.SalesOrderService) but this service only CRUD's Sales Order Header where as I am looking for a service that needs.
-> I found another service ( Composite service) ,Get Orchestration Order Service (11.1.7.0.0), Operation: GetOrderDetails , that may get me order details but doesnt give me a way to create an order as I didn't find any operation for Create/Generate.
-> Another Asset =>File Based Data Import: Purchase Orders Import (11.1.9.0.0) that Imports purchase orders from external systems into Oracle Fusion Purchasing.
But not sure how to use it. The documentation is duanting here.
    b) For Getting contract details
-> While looking for a service that would would cater my "get contract details" need, I could find only Contract Type , Contract Business unit services but no service ( ADF or composite) that would give me all the contract details.
    c) For Invoice creation / get - I found these but not sure which one to pick.
-> Request Invoice Orchestration Task for Fusion Systems Service (11.1.8.0.0) Description:Provides the ability to communicate with the Oracle Fusion Invoicing application to perform create operations.Type: Composite Service. Process Provides the ability for Oracle Fusion Receivables to perform create operations.
    -> Product Family: Financials
ADF Service: Receivables Invoice Service (11.1.9.0.0)
    Operations: createSimpleInvoice, invoiceHeaderInformation,createInterfaceLine,processInterfaceLine
    Service Path: https://<fin_server:PortNumber>/finArTrxnsInvoices/InvoiceService?WSDL
    Abstract WSDL URL: rep://R9_FUSIONAPPS_HOSTEDREP/oracle/apps/financials/receivables/transactions/invoices/invoiceService/InvoiceService.wsdl
-> ADF Service: Receivables Invoice (11.1.9.0.0) Service Path: http://<fin_server:PortNumber>/finArTrxnsAutoInvoices/AutoInvoicesBCService?WSDL
    Abstract WSDL URL: rep://R9_FUSIONAPPS_HOSTEDREP/oracle/apps/financials/receivables/transactions/autoInvoices/autoInvoicesService/v1/AutoInvoicesBCService.wsdl
    ======================================
Can someone help me here in helping me find a right service / way to fullfill my above requirements?
    Thanks,
    Sridhar.

    Hey Reo,
We need to do few configuration steps to integrate both products
you can refer to the metalink2 doc id : 552735.1
    https://metalink2.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/f?p=130:14:3427836754632619337::::p14_database_id,p14_docid,p14_show_header,p14_show_help,p14_black_frame,p14_font:NOT,552735.1,1,1,1,helvetica
Remember, if u integrate EBS & OBIEE, you cannot directly login to BI. Instead, you always need to navigate from EBS only..

  • Oracle Fusion vs TIBCO

    Hello,
In my system, components (Oracle Products only) are inter-connected to each other through TIBCO middleware. As there is only Oracle components in system, I am curious to know, is there any benefit of using Oracle Fusion replacing TIBCO? Can someone compare the benefits who have worked on both of them.
Note: I am having a very basic knowledge of middlewares, started reading about it, but want to be aware on the above.
    Thanks,
    Manu

    Hi Manu,
As for every vendor integrating with their own products will be easier than integrating with external applications. The vendor can also provide better support if their products are used from end-to-end.
The Oracle SOA Suite 11g version is within Oracle the recommended middleware product used to interact between their own products. e.g Siebel vs Oracle Portal, Ebusiness suite etc. This has been expanded by the introduction of AIA in where Oracle has developed out of the box integration processes (PIPs) to connect between some of their products. This means there is a lot of knowledge to be confident about a working approach.
TIBCO would obviously work to integrate with the different Oracle products as most products have APIs that are SOA aware. However this is less transparent and from a support point of view there are fewer advantages.
Please see some discussion around this topic:

  • Enforcing integrity using oracle specific data base commands .v. using fron

Full subject : Enforcing integrity using oracle specific data base commands .v. using front end.
It ought to be generally accepted that it is better to enforce integrity directly in the data base using constraints, dependencies, triggers etc rather than leaving it to specific front end programmes.
In my view, the chief advantages - of enforcing integrity directly in the data base - are:
    (1) No process can violate the integrity.
    (2) Being server centric, these commands run on the server and so can be easily sized in one place.
    (3) One time data migration (imports) into the system using Oracle tools or SQL commands would also need to conform to the integrity constraints. Thus an implementor would be assured that the basic data is alright.
I am faced with a situation where we are about to implement a new Oracle based package. During data migration, when we discovered that there are no integrity constraints built into the target data base, the package vendor asserted that it is not necessary to build in integrity into the database. This seems to be an extreme and risky view.
Further, it is argued by the package vendor that putting constraints directly in the data base would significantly increase the needed resources (RAM) on the server. In my view, this increase is trivial and anyway, hardware costs are crashing day by day.
In the absence of integrity checks in the data base, it seems to me that every program would have to extra zero value work to ensure integrity of the end user data. It will still never be complete.
I would like to know the pros and cons of implementing without integrity constraints.
    OK.

OK.It's a shame you seem to be so far into the process and committed to this vendor. I once had a vendor tell us his product would run on Oracle but they recommended MS SQL Server because "oracle can't handle more than 5 concurrent sessions." I made sure that vendor didn't make the short list.

  • Oracle Fusion Middleware 11 - Failover - ORA-03114

We use Oracle Fusion Middleware 11.1.1.4 to run a Oracle Forms based application that connects to an Exadata - Oracle 11g 11.2.0.3  database.
In order to test the failover to Data Guard mechanism, we changed the tnsnames.ora to include the stanza for the data guard and disaster recovery databses.
However after changing the tnsnames.ora entry, the Fusion Forms refused to connect. It gave
    FRM-40735: ON-ERROR trigger raised unhandled exception ORA-03114
Present below is the tnsnames.ora entry .
The first one is the unmodified one that works(we can open up Oracle forms app and connect successfully to the database).
The second one is the modified one with the failover phrase that does not work - gives
ORA-03114. However the same entry as a jdbc connection string is working fine.
    Works :
    clientdb_oltp.world =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = client7-scan1)(PORT = 1521))
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVER = DEDICATED)
          (SERVICE_NAME = clientdb_oltp_srvc.world)
    Does NOT work:
    clientdb_oltp.world =
      (DESCRIPTION =
       (LOAD_BALANCE = OFF)
       (FAILOVER = ON)
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = client7-scan1)(PORT = 1521))
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = client3-scan01)(PORT = 1521))
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = client1-scan)(PORT = 1521))
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVER = DEDICATED)
          (SERVICE_NAME = clientdb_oltp_srvc.world)
          (FAILOVER_MODE =
            (TYPE = SELECT)
            (METHOD = BASIC))))
JDBC Connection string that works :
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION_LIST=(LOAD_BALANCE=off)(FAILOVER=on)(DESCRIPTION= (ADDRESS_LIST= (LOAD_BALANCE=on)(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST= client7-scan1)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER = DEDICATED) (SERVICE_NAME=clientdb_oltp_srvc.world)))(DESCRIPTION= (ADDRESS_LIST= (LOAD_BALANCE=on) (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=client3-scan01)(PORT=1521))) (CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER = DEDICATED) (SERVICE_NAME= clientdb_oltp_srvc.world))) (DESCRIPTION= (ADDRESS_LIST= (LOAD_BALANCE=on) (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=client1-scan)(PORT=1521))) (CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER = DEDICATED) (SERVICE_NAME=clientdb_oltp_srvc.world))))
Could you please advise if there is any reason why Oracle Fusion Middleware will not connect with the tnsnames.ora having the failover stanza ? Does the above entry require any change ?
We have already checked for any TAB or other non-print characters.
Edit : 6/3/2014  I mistakenly gave the Forms Oracle error as ORA-12154. The error faced is "FRM-40735: ON-ERROR trigger raised unhandled exception ORA-03114"
    Updated Title and description.
The credentials were validated multiple times. (user id and password is correct)

    Hi Prakash,
The database is up and running. We are able to login to it using sqlplus and other sql tools from different clients(sql client and java based programs).
We believe its either due to Oracle Middleware not supporting the tnsnames.ora entry with the failover stanza , or some quirk with our tnsnames.ora file.
Is there anything you would advise that we try ?
    Thank you,
    S. Krishnan
