  • BUILDING DIMENSION FROM ORACLE SORCE

Hi, I am building dimensions from Oracle source using Hyperion SQL Interface. The Rule file is successfully created. However when I tried Update outline, it fails. In the log file I observe the message, Failed in initialization of log file. If anyone has faced this problem, please suggest how you could solve this? Anyone having any small documentation on using SQL interface (apart from Essbases's documentation) please forward it to my email [email protected]

    Hi,
You can use rule files to build dimensions. You have to define the sql data source to build the dimension from the Oracle tables. Please follow given link which has all the details about building dimensions.

  • Build Dimension in Essbase App

    Hi
I am new to essbase applications, and I am trying to load members to a products dimension created in a block storage essbase application, using version 11.1.2.1 but I am getting the error
\\ Member TotalProducts Not Found In Database
    TotalProducts,ProductsA,Prod1
\\ Member TotalProducts Not Found In Database
    TotalProducts,ProductsA,Prod2
here is the steps I am following
-Created a simple file for loading dimension members as
    TotalProducts,ProductsA,Prod1
    TotalProducts,ProductsA,Prod2
    TotalProducts,ProductsB,Prod3
    TotalProducts,ProductsB,Prod4
-Open EAS console and browse to data prep editor
    -Select Dimension build file
-Set data source properties as comma (source file is saved as CSV)
-Dimension build settings , select products dimension and use generation reference
    -Associate the outline
-Field properties, select each field and select products dimension and add generation number
I confirm that I can see the generations added as field headers as Gen2Products, Gen3Products,Gen4Products and I can validate the rule successfully
Saving the file, right click the database, load data, select data file and rule file but i get the error below and no members added
\\ Member TotalProducts Not Found In Database
    TotalProducts,ProductsA,Prod1
\\ Member TotalProducts Not Found In Database
    TotalProducts,ProductsA,Prod2
    any suggestions, thanks in advance

Read the chapter Building Dimensions and Loading Data (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/esb_dbag/ddlintro.html )
Saving the file, right click the database, load data, select data file and rule file but i get the error below and no members addedWhat Mode are you selecting when you perform Data Load, I'm sure you chose "Load Only", use "Build Only" and see whether it works.

  • A problem happened when building dimensions with Rule File

    Hi All,
I was trying to build dimensions with the rule file. But it showed the error 1030100, which means "cannot open file".
I can load data with a data source (.txt). Thus, I assumed that it's a problem to open a rule file.
I don't think it's the problem about the rule files I wrote since I cannot even build dimensions with rule files in the Sample/Basic database.
Anyone knows how to solve the problem? Thanks for the help.
    Best Regards,

This path is referred to error message .... it will show the errors in that file...
    and one more thing...
while adding data source to rule file it will ask you provide a path for the error message...there you can see this path...
Just check dataload.err file after running the rule file...
have you associated the out line to the rule file ???
is that rule file validate fine?
if not associate it and try...

  • Building Dimensions via Peoplesoft Tree Manager

Anyone have any query examples on how to get Peoplesoft tree manager tables into the proper format either parent/child or generation to build dimensions? Or is this what the Erpi adapter does in FDM?

The Peoplesoft dba figured it out so no hints needed. Any recommendation on using ODI vs Outline Load Utility in 11.1.2.2? It's a brand new customer to Hyperion, thus was thinking Outline Load Utility in order not to overwhelm them on support etc. Find ODI a bit confusing. But maybe it's easier... I honestly don't know as I haven't done ODI in 3 yrs. We just want to automate 3 or 4 dimension builds and Actuals data loads against 2 classic planning apps.
Also, where would be best training or online guides on these two tasks in ODI? I know you have a blog. Is your blog searchable by subject area?

  • Building dimensions that are based on surrogate keys

    Hi -
I am new to AWM and have a question.
I read the docs, but I still do not understand how to build a cube using AWM.
So we have a DW with dimensions and fact tables. The dimension tables use surrogate keys.
The fact table uses the surrogate keys of the dimensions.
I want to define the time dimension in AWM.
The unique key for the dimension is the surrogate key (time_key).
In AWM I defined levels: day, month and year.
Would the hierarchy for the day level be:
    time_key -> day?
    Thanks,

The initial release of OLAP in 11.1.0.6 was not stable. Please upgrade to at least database 11.1.0.7, and preferably 11.2.0.3. If you move to 11.1.0.7, then you should apply the "OLAP D Patch", #9147749. See the OLAP certification page for more details.

  • Essbase Build Dimension using load rules - Jagged Recursive hierarchy

    Hi,
I am building a dimension from data that has the following parent/child relationship
    PARENT CHILD
    A B
    C D
    C E
    C F
    A C
Load dimension results in the following hierarchy:-
    A
    |__B
    |__C
    |_F
    C
    |_D
    |_E
I would like the hierachy to be:-
    A
    |__B
    |__C
    |_F
    |_D
    |_E
Is there a way to achieve this? Is is to do with the order of rows in the data file?
    Thanks
    Dinesh

    Hi,
I agree with the advice already posted about allowing moves in your dim build settings on the dimension in question. I just want to help clarify the other comment about how your file is sorted. As long as you are building a main rollup only (i.e., no shared member, alternate hierarchies in the same input file), the Essbase parent/child build method doesn't require any particular record order (as long as the pairings are correct in and of themselves). Essbase p/c method is powerful for ragged hierarchy creation and also able to "figure out" the intended hierarchy.
Now if you are including shared member relationships in the file, just be sure to have those records AFTER all records for the main rollup (logically as if you were simply using a second input file for the same rule). They don't have to be sorted within the rollup either.
BTW, the other strength of the p/c method is the ability to handle upper level shares (i.e., when your shared members are referencing members that are above level 0 in their stored (main hierarchy) positions.

  • PAS Data Load  iin Cube Builder Dimensions

    Hi All,
Two important questions about SSM Implementation , that are impacting our development
1 - Is it possible to develop a data load to fill dimensions created in Cube Builder ? For example, the user wants to be able to fill dimensions manually in SSM BUT      wants to load some aditional information via data load un the same Cube created via Cube Builder Tool  What I see is that, when we fill the dimension manually in Cube Builder a internal code is created in PAS Database
          INPUT
          L0M1281099797397 '001'
but I am in doubt about to reprocude the same code via data load in a PAS Procedure
2 - My customer in his original system maintains a relationship between Iniatitives Is it possibile to do the same in SAP SSM ? I looked for the documentation anda I had not found anyting
          associated with this
      Regards,
         Cristian

    Hi Cristian,
Jus for clarification: do you want to modify a dimension that was created through Cube Builder? Or do you want to create and maintain a new dimension without going through Cube Builder?
If you are trying to create a new dimension, how many times would this dimension changed? And would the change be made manually or would the structure be available in a table?
I usually would suggest to have the dimension structure in a table and use PAS procedures to create/re-create the dimension. You can assign whatever technical name and label you want, and as long as you maintain the same technical name for each member, you should be able to recreate dimensions without losing any data.
If this is a dimension that you won't change anymore you can also code it directly in PAS with the structure you find in the other dimensions:
    INPUT
    input_member1_technical_name 'input_member1-label',
    input_member2_technical_name 'input_member2-label',
    input_member3_technical_name 'input_member3-label',
    input_member4_technical_name 'input_member4-label'
    OUTPUT
    output_member1_technical_name 'output_member1-label',
    output_member2_technical_name 'output_member2-label',
    RESULT
    result_member_technical_name 'result_member-label'
    output_member1_technical_name = SUM
    input_member1_technical_name 'input_member1-label',
    input_member2_technical_name 'input_member2-label'
    output_member2_technical_name = SUM
    input_member3_technical_name 'input_member3-label',
    input_member4_technical_name 'input_member4-label'
    result_member_technical_name = SUM
    output_member1_technical_name,
    output_member2_technical_name

  • Building dimension through rules

    Hi,
I have tried building the dimensions via parent-child relationship. There is a 'Standar Format' if I am not wrong:
Parent, dimension name, alias, aggregation and storage property.
I am unable to build attribute dimensions (as I don't know the format for the same). I know there has to be standard (base) dimension to which I will associate the attribute dimension. But, how to do it?
    Thanks

In the load rule in the dimension settings, you can define a new attribut edimension and associate it to a base dimension. (Third tab on Dimension build settings). Within the load rule, you can associate the attribute to the base dimension (assuming no attribute hierarchy) by specifying that it is the attribute for the base member. I find this more difficult to do in a parent child format as an attribute can only be assigned to a single level within the structure.
I will typically build attributes as a level build and just include the level zero members and their attributes
    Lev0,Product --------------Container,Product
    100-10-------------------------Bottle
    100-20-------------------------Can
If you look in the Sample.Basic application/database, there are sample rules files and data load files shoing you how to do this.
