Building Query to count # of [day] for last yr

This will be used in Reports 6.0
I have created a query that should count the number of (example : Tuesdays) for the prior year. I can't figure how to do it....
Here's my query that returns only 1:
select count(next_day(sysdate,to_char(to_date(sysdate), 'DAY')))days from dual

It depends on whether you want a single query (a difficult task, you may need to maintain a calendar table) or a function (or even PL SQL block). If its a function then the code would be:
DECLARE
yy_start DATE := TO_DATE('01-01-'| |TO_CHAR(TRUNC(SYSDATE),'YYYY') - 1,'YYYY');
yy_end DATE := LAST_DAY(ADD_MONTHS(yy_start,12));
tues_count NUMBER := 0;
BEGIN
FOR i IN 1..yy_end - yy_start LOOP
IF TO_CHAR(yy_start + i - 1,'DAY') = 'TUESDAY' THEN
tues_count := tues_count + 1;
END IF;
END LOOP;
--RRTURN tues_count;
END;

  • Counting date transactions for last six months

    Any help is greatly appreciated.  I am running Crystal XI.
    I have an order field (PurchaseOders.PODatePlaced) for each item. There can be multiple orders in the same month for each item of course.  I would like to COUNT each  PurchaseOders.PODatePlaced based on the month it was purchased for the last six months from a date parameter.
    My table looks like this"
    Item            PODatePlaced
    1234           11/12/2007
    1234            11/20/2007
    1234            10/15/2007
    1234            9/30/2006
    1234            12/5/2007
    1234             12/6/2007
    I am trying to get the results to read as follows (only for the last 6 months):
    Items          December         November     October
    1234               2                      2                1
    Thanks for your help

    I am adding a cross tab to an existing report so many of the fields are already in the report. I would like to only add the month fields and a count of the transactions. Can this be done?  In the group options how can I tell it to only use the last six months reguardless of activity for the month.  Current results are giving every date as a column.  Can I only get the months to be columns?
    Any suggestions?

  • Query builder query to generate list folders for a group

    working on custom reporting application in Excel using SDK. have query for users and groups as follows:
    SELECT TOP 1000000 SI_EMAIL_ADDRESS, SI_FORCE_PASSWORD_CHANGE, SI_NAME, SI_ID, SI_USERGROUPS, SI_USERFULLNAME, SI_ALIASES, SI_DESCRIPTION, SI_LASTLOGONTIME, SI_CREATION_TIME, SI_PASSWORDEXPIRE FROM CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS Where SI_KIND='User'
    and then for each si_usergroups:
    SELECT SI_NAME FROM CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS Where SI_ID=" & GroupID
    For each group, we also need the corresponding folders that the group can access. What's this query?

    It's posted on my website:  [www.geocities.com/geekgurl7/sample_code.html].  Look at the BOEUserAudit application.  It contains code for getting the groups that have access to specific reports.  The technique is the same for folders.

  • Query to count ACTIVE records for each month

    All,
    I have a requirement to count the number of active customers for each month of an year. Let's say, we have 3 fields in the table:
    ID               ActiveStart             ActiveEnd
    1                 1/1/2014               11/30/2014
    In this scenario, the member with ID was active for all the months (Jan-November) EXCEPT, December. So, the result set I am expecting for the Month of January to December is like below:
    Month       CountOfMembers
    Jan            1
    Feb           1
    Mar           1
    April          1
    May           1
    June          1
    July           1
    August      1
    Sept          1
    Oct            1
    Nov           1
    Dec           0 (Since, the member was NOT active in this month)
    Similarly, if you have another member whose start date is 1/1/2014 and termination is '5/31/2014', then, I would need to add 1 for months of January till May, the member WON'T be counted for the rest of the months. So, in this case, the count will be come
    "2" for months January till May, it will remain "1" for June till November and still "O" for December.

    >>I have a requirement to count the number of active customers for each month of an year. Let's say, we have 3 fields [sic: columns are not fields] in the table [sic: tables have names]: <<
    Please follow basic Netiquette and post the DDL we need to answer this. Follow industry and ANSI-ISO standards in your data. You should follow ISO-11179 rules for naming data elements. You should follow ISO-8601 rules for displaying temporal data. We need to
    know the data types, keys and constraints on the table. Avoid dialect in favor of ANSI-ISO Standard SQL. And you need to read and download the PDF for:
    https:--www.simple-talk.com-books-sql-books-119-sql-code-smells-
    There is no magical universal “id” in RDBMS, tables have names and columns have constraints and types. Most of the work in SQL is done in the DDL. Here is a possible schema.
    CREATE TABLE Duty_Roster
    (member_nbr INTEGER NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
     duty_start_date DATE NOT NULL,
     duty_end_date DATE NOT NULL,
    CHECK (duty_start_date <= duty_end_date),
    INSERT INTO Duty_Roster
    VALUES
    (1, '2014-01-01', '2014-11-30'),
    (2, '2014-01-01', '2014-05-31');
    >> In this scenario, the member with ID was active for all the months (Jan-November) EXCEPT, December. So, the result set I am expecting for the Month of January to December is like below: <<
    A month is a temporal measurement that makes no sense without a year. But if you knew the ISO temporal model, you would see that you have what is called an INTERVAL data type. T-SQL does not support it yet.
    Since SQL is a database language, we prefer to do look ups and not calculations. They can be optimized while temporal math messes up optimization. A useful idiom is a report period calendar that everyone uses so there is no way to get disagreements in the DML.
    The report period table gives a name to a range of dates that is common to the entire enterprise.
    CREATE TABLE Month_Periods
    (month_name CHAR(10) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY
       CHECK (month_name LIKE  '[12][0-9][0-9][0-9]-[01][0-9]-00'),
     month_start_date DATE NOT NULL,
     month_end_date DATE NOT NULL,
      CONSTRAINT date_ordering
        CHECK (month_start_date <= month_end_date),
    etc);
    These report periods can overlap or have gaps. I like the MySQL convention of using double zeroes for months and years, That is 'yyyy-mm-00' for a month within a year and 'yyyy-00-00' for the whole year. The advantages are that it will sort with the ISO-8601
    data format required by Standard SQL and it is language independent. The pattern for validation is '[12][0-9][0-9][0-9]-00-00' and '[12][0-9][0-9][0-9]-[01][0-9]-00'
    SELECT M.month_name, COUNT(R.member_nbr) AS member_cnt
      FROM Month_Periods AS M,
           Duty_Roster AS R
     WHERE M.month_start_date
           BETWEEN R.duty_start_date AND R.duty_end_date
       AND M.month_end_date
           BETWEEN R.duty_start_date AND R.duty_end_date;
    We had no business rules about partial months, so I guessed.

    Hi, experts
    I  have  customized a  PCR using AAU**
    But it  can not count  absence days that less than a day which is maintained  in  IT 2001 ,
    such as  unpaid leave. However it can correctly  count  absence days that  last  one  day  or above .
    The issue is so strange for me, so please give me some advice.

    Morgan
    1 alternative approach is as follows:
    Step 1: Ensure your absence type have already been mapped to an absence valuation rule
    Step 2: In your absence valuation rule, (goto SM30 > V_t554c), assign a new wage type to capture the number of days
                 The wage type in step 2 should be created such that its attributes is to help your capture number of days of your unpaid
                 absence type when it is evaluated by your payroll schema
    Final Step: You should be able to capture half day absences with such a wage type when you run your payroll calculations
    Should you need to utilize such a wage type for subsequent calculation processing in your payroll schema, you may have to develop your own customer payroll calculation rules to do so

  • SQL help: return number of records for each day of last month.

    Hi: I have records in the database with a field in the table which contains the Unix epoch time for each record. Letz say the Table name is ED and the field utime contains the Unix epoch time.
    Is there a way to get a count of number of records for each day of the last one month? Essentially I want a query which returns a list of count (number of records for each day) with the utime field containing the Unix epoch time. If a particular day does not have any records I want the query to return 0 for that day. I have no clue where to start. Would I need another table which has the list of days?
    Thanks
    Ray

    Peter: thanks. That helps but not completely.
    When I run the query to include only records for July using a statement such as following
    ============
    SELECT /*+ FIRST_ROWS */ COUNT(ED.UTIMESTAMP), TO_CHAR((TO_DATE('01/01/1970','MM/DD/YYYY') + (ED.UTIMESTAMP/86400)), 'MM/DD') AS DATA
    FROM EVENT_DATA ED
    WHERE AGENT_ID = 160
    AND (TO_CHAR((TO_DATE('01/01/1970','MM/DD/YYYY')+(ED.UTIMESTAMP/86400)), 'MM/YYYY') = TO_CHAR(SYSDATE-15, 'MM/YYYY'))
    GROUP BY TO_CHAR((TO_DATE('01/01/1970','MM/DD/YYYY') + (ED.UTIMESTAMP/86400)), 'MM/DD')
    ORDER BY TO_CHAR((TO_DATE('01/01/1970','MM/DD/YYYY') + (ED.UTIMESTAMP/86400)), 'MM/DD');
    =============
    I get the following
    COUNT(ED.UTIMESTAMP) DATA
    1 07/20
    1 07/21
    1 07/24
    2 07/25
    2 07/27
    2 07/28
    2 07/29
    1 07/30
    2 07/31
    Some dates donot have any records and so no output. Is there a way to show the missing dates with a COUNT value = 0?
    Thanks
    Ray

    Good day!
    I have to create a Query with the below requirement.
    I have to create a Query to show the values for the current month and the last 12 months data.
    Can you please guide me how to achieve this ??
    thank you,
    Regards,

    Hema
    explain the exact problem..? as you mentioned you want to create query to show values for current month and last 12 months.. so I think you want to show values for 12 months from current data.. you can achive this by multiple way..
    you can have selection screen and field with date .. and restrict based on system current date and 12 months before or you can handle this at your target.. .. I mean there are multiple ways to restrict data by date range..
    for some more hints..

    SQL> select * from t1 order by amount ;
            ID ITEM_ID                  AMOUNT   DIZCOUNT
            65 101                           1         .2
            65 102                           1         .2
            65 215                         155       23.3
            65 111                         165       24.8
            65 201                         200       29.8p.s. BTW, not sure if you want the column names in different cases, but your script, as it is, gave me an error (on 11.2)

  • Query with the days of a period and the same days of last year

    I need a help.
    We have a sales cube with daily values.
    We have a query that restricts a month (0CALMONTH) and shows the daily values for this month.
    No problem, we have only to put 0CALDAY on the line and the value on the columns.
    But we need also to show the values of the same days from last year.
    Example:
    The restricted month is july/2011.
    0CALDAY is on the line, so the query shows the values for
    01.07.2011   110,00
    02.07.2011   108,00
    31.07.2011   109,00
    How can we show in the same line the values for july/2011 and july/2010?
    Example:
             July/2010    July/2011
    01     95,00            110,00
    02     96,00            108,00
    31    94,00             109,00.
    Thanks in advance
    César Menezes

    Thanks for the answers until now.
    Surely a Day characteristic (ex. CA_DAY, derived from 0CALDAY) would work.
    But we have this requirement in many other cubes (I posted only an example) and it's not feasible to create this characteristic now.
    I understood the other suggestions, but the problem is not on selecting the values.
    We have two restricted key figures, one for a period (filled by the users) and another one for this period - 12.
    They work OK and bring the correct results.
    The problem is on presenting the results, because as we have 0CALDAY in the line the results appear on two different lines.
    Example:
    15.07.2010    950,00
    15.07.2011    980,00.
    Is ther any way to present the results in the same line?
    Example:
    15.07.2011    950,00 (last year)     980,00 (today)
    or
    15.07             950,00 (last year)     980,00 (today)
    or any other way?

    Regards,

    Hi,
    I suggest that you look at this line in particular:
    TRUNC(((fcr.actual_completion_date-fcr.actual_start_date)/(1/30))*6) > NVL('&days',5)and consider whether it is asking the question that you want it to ask.
    Furthermore, it looks like you are expecting to get time in minute from the following line, and this definitely does not return minutes:
    TRUNC(((fcr.actual_completion_date-fcr.actual_start_date)/(1/24))*60) I recommend finding one or two IDs for concurrent requests that you know are running for a long time, comparing the start and end times, testing that information against the output of the above functions, and adjusting your query accordingly.
