Building summarization levels for reporting
Hi All,
Our system is very slow to execute COPA reports. I am willing to create summarization levels.
1. I let the system create a proposal
2. I created hiearchy levels
3. I uploaded the levels with data
4. I checked whether reports are reading hierarchy level
I am a little bit confused how this summarization level is intedted to work. I tested the summarization. It works by 1-2 reports, but not for the rest.
So my question is, when a summarization level is applicable for a report?
For examle, if I summarize for customer... and in the report I have characteristics customer... does the system takes this summarization level or not? If in general I need customer in all of our reports as characteristics, I won´t be able to use summarization level for customer?
I am looking somehow for similar answer.
When the system does proposal for sum. levels why the created levels are not used.
For your information. If you have just created new reports and hope to get them speed up it might not work properly.
When you use the proposal of levels the system analysis the ones last used. If some reports are used not often they might not be considered.
So you need to watch and fine tune it.
I noticed that the index which is important to access the level, does not really match our criteria. The sum. level might have the right data but not very good index.
Further you could check the usage of fixed characteristics. For example you copy a simple sum. level with certain data and you add fixed characteristics. Example, company code 01.
But the magical question when it is utilized is also open. Don't forget to activate the usage of sum. levels in the report attributes itself.

Optimal summarization levels for CO-PA
Hi,
is there any guide or SAP Note how to optimal set the summarization levels for CO-PA?
E.g., how many characteristics should a summarization level contain or how many keydata records is maximum for a summarization level?
Thanks in advance
Regards
Peter
Edited by: Peter Jankech on Feb 1, 2010 11:58 PMThanks for reply Pradeep,
unfortunatelly I have not found the information I need.
Does anybody know some other source?
The question is: what is the maximum size of an summarization level (in MB)?
Because if we add more and more characteristics to a summarization level, the amount of keytable records rises and the the summatization level losses its purpose.
Within the OSS 83204 (file h83204en.doc) there is a smatement, that a summarization level is considered as big, if its size is more than 20MB...this is nonsense, our summarization levels are bigger than 1GB. Is there any newer version of the manual to the summ.levels?
Thanks

Summarization levels for CO-PC-IS
Hello
So far my production variance report (S_ALR_87013148) has functioned perfectly, but after inserting a new coloum I only get data for only plant.
I posted an OSS message, on which they responed - check note 422543. This note suggests to delete all entries in KKDV... Unfortunately I don't know much about summarization levels - will the needed levels be created automatically when the data collection will be executed again?
Thanks in advance

'*' in Summarization Levels for CO-PA
Hi All,
What is the role of table "TKETRLF" in Account based CO-PA. When I try to check the CO-PA Datasource it is giving me an error. I tried to debug it and see where exactly is the problem. I found that the standard program is trying to read the data from the above said table and becoz of not finding the required data it is not picking up the summarisation level and throwing the error.
The table has got all the fields from the summarization levels and a flag(0,1,2...) which says if it is a summarization characteristic/user defined characteristic etc. The fields with out a '*' in KEDV has '0' as the flag. If the program finds the flag as '0' for any of the field in one summarization level then it is ignoring that level.
Since I have atleast one field with out a '*' in each of my summarization levels, it is not picking up the summarization level and throwing an error saying "No Source could be found".
This is very urgent...Please someone help me...
Thanks,
RPk.Hi,
I have the same problem, and I find SAP Note Note 1069507 - BI Extraction : 'Errors occurred during the extraction'. This is for version 5.0, probably it help you, but in my case I am working in ECC 6.0.

Steps to build summarization tables for CO-PA
Hello Experts,
I recently deleted and re-created the COPA datasources to include some additional fields from the Operating Concern. However, I need to delete and re-create the COPA summarization tables as well to test my extractors. Can some of you provide me with a step-by-step solution to build the summarization levels.
Thanks,

can some walk me through the steps to get this informationOK, I still don't see an issue with what I suggested. the Export command (not DataExport) is one of the oldest ways to pull data, especailly all level zero data, from an Essbase cube. If you are on 6.5 you might be using app manager, but the funcationalty is there as well and you can use Esscmd instead of MaxL.

No summarization level exists for cycle 261001_KEU5
Dear experts!
Now, I'm getting some issue about performing t.code KEU5.
The first, I create cycle with t.code KEU1 with receive tracing factor rule is Variable portions.
Second, I run the cycle with t.code KEU5 then the system display warring message:
No summarization level exists for cycle 261001
Message no. GA790
Diagnosis
The tracing factors for cycle 261001 cannot be read from a summarization level.
This message is displayed when executing a periodic allocation of overhead costs (assessment, indirect activity allocation) if portions are used as tracing factors in at least one segment. It is designed to make you aware of potential improvement in performance which is not being used.
If variable portions are used as tracing factors, the distribution factors are determined from the object level (table CE3xxxx/CE4xxxx, xxxx=operating concern). If there is a large amount of data at object level, selection can take a long time. The summarization levels can be used to pre-summarize the transaction data, resulting in a drastic reduction in runtimes for periodic allocations.
System Response
The tracing factor is determined from the object level. This does not alter the result of periodic allocation, but the runtime can be lengthy.
Procedure
For large data volumes, define a summarization level in the object level in order to improve performance.
For more information, see the program documentation and the customizing functions, which include a form for defining an appropriate summarization level for periodic allocation.
Help me, please!
Best regards, HuyHi
Its just a warning message saying that cycle execution time can be more in the absnce of Summ level
You can create summ levels from ORKE > Tools > Summ Levels

How to "active" copa summarization level ????
Hello:
I create COPA summarization level in R3 .When I save the level, the system generates these tables and sets the status to "active, without data".I need to fill the level with data, at which time the status changes to "active".But I don't know how to do it !
Thanks for your help!
lianDear Consultants, Learner & Readers,
The problem with changing the status of a summarization level from "To be created" into "Active, without data" in a system that is not open for customizing can indeed be solved by execution of program RKETREGN as it's described in attached SAP Note 52636.
I quote from the note:
If you have created summarization levels, the tables generated are not also transported. To create the tables in the target system, start report RKETREGN (Summarization Levels: Generate Tables for Summarization Levels) in the target system. Enter 'KE' for application, '01' for sub-application and 'CE1xxxx' for TABNAME (Replace xxxx with your operating concern). If the program does not run, then the program terminates with error message KE707 when building summarization levels
I hope this answers your query. Else do not hesitate to get back for more clarifications.

Hi,
I am very unclear about summarization levels in CO-PA. Please can any one explain me what is the real significance of summarization level, why do we need it and steps to configure it, and on what logic is data extracted from it.
Thank you,
Sam1. What is use of summarizattion in COPA?
summarization level in Profitability Analysis (CO-PA):
A summarization level is a tool for improving performance.
Summarization levels store an original dataset in summarized form. This gives quick access to presummarized data for functions that do not need detailed information, and means that the data does not need to be summarized separately each time.
you can check this in this link
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/ae/bd116e940f11d2b63c0000e82debc6/frameset.htm
2. If we dont give summarization in COPA Account based will records be available in RSA3 - yes
2. How to create summarization level for a datasource?
You can do this in Transaction - KCDU/KCDV or SPRO
Hope it helps.

Hi,
Im extracting from a particular CO table in ECC. The CO team is setting up summarization levels for that table. When they create a summarization level the system automatically creates a new table. Since im extracting from the source table how does BI identify the table that the system created automatically? What do i need to do on BI side?
ThanksHi,
take a look at this blog:

Text data is not displaying at Report level for an Infoobject Item name
Hi All,
Texts data is maintained at Info object level but text information is not displaying at Report level for an object. I have set the property at query level as "Text", but at report level it is displaying key values of the object, not displaying texts information. This problem occured in QA(Quality) system but not replicated in Production system. I have checked all properties at backend and query level and compared the same between QA and Production system didn't find any difference.
Please suggest what might be the cause: at report level it is displaying key values instead of the textual information even text data is mainintained at backend. In production it is displaying textal data for the IO.
Thanks in advance.Hi All,
Thanks for your valuable information. I have changed the setting under Advanced tab as "Master data" for Access type for results values, but didn't solved the problem still it showing key information for the IO.
In Production system the report displaying texts information for the IO, but in QA its displaying key information. The problem exits only in QA, its working fine in DEv and Production.
As per my understanding might be the issue with Patches will be checking with Basis team on the same.
Please suggest if you have any alternatives to fix the issue. -

Report Builder 1.0 for SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2
We are trying to implement Ad-Hoc Reporting using SSRS 2008 R2.
First of all, it is very unhelpful that all SSRS books are for either 2008 or 2012, even though SSRS has major changes in 2008 R2 compared to 2008.
Our instructional materials indicate that we should build Report Models to abstract out our databases into terms familiar to our business users.
The problem we are having is the difference in functionality between Report Builder 1.0 and Report Builder 3.0. Report Builder 3.0 is touted as having the modern, ribbon based interface that is supposed to make end-users feel more comfortable. However,
all the documentation says that end users are supposed to use Report Builder 1.0 for Ad-Hoc Reporting. And, it seems, that the reports generated by Report Builder 1.0 are not round-trip compatible with all the other reporting tools for SSRS 2008 R2.
The documentation we have illustrates that Report Builder 1.0 is nice for Ad-Hoc reporting, because is based on connecting directly to Report Models, and the end users can directly drag-and-drop entities and fields into their reports.
When we try working with Report Builder 3.0, it seems we must first connect to the Report Model as a Data Source and then build a Dataset query on the Report Model. Only then are some entity attributes available to be dropped into the report.
If the user decides another source column is needed, they have to go back, edit the query, save the query, and then drag the column from the Dataset to the report. This does not seem end user friendly at all!
We are also concerned that if we train our users on the seemingly soon-to-be-obsolete Report Builder 1.0, and get them used to having direct Report Model access, that at some point we will have to move them to the Dataset-interrupted approach of Report Builder
2+. Highlighting this perception of impending obsolescence of Report Builder 1.0 is that in our shop that is starting with SSRS 2008 R2, we cannot figure out how to get a copy of Report Builder 1.0 in the first place.
We just don't see our end users being savvy enough to handle the steps involved with creating Datasets on top of Report Model Data Sources. So we would have to build the Datasets for them. But in that case, what point is there in creating any
Report Models in the first place if DBAs are the ones to make Datasets?
As such, it is hard to envision a forward-looking SSRS implementation that has the end user ease-of-use Ad-Hoc reporting that the SSRS 2008 documentation presents.
What is it that Microsoft actually wants/expects SSRS implementers to do?

http://www.CureSearch.orgHi Dan,
Report Builder 1.0
Simple template-based reports
Requires report model
Supports only SQL Server, Oracle, and Analysis Services as data sources
Supports RDL 2005
Bundled in SSRS
Report Builder 2.0 or later
Full-featured reports as the BIDS Report Designer
Doesn't require (but supports) report models
Supports any data source
Supports RDL 2008
Available as a separate web download
In your scenario, you want to use Report Builder 1.0 in SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2, I am afraid this cannot achieve. Report Builder 1.0 is available in the box in either SQL 2005 or SQL 2008. It is not available as a separate client apps and is
only available as a click once application.
Report Builder 1.0
Report Builder 3.0
Thank you for your understanding.

Changing the Dunning level and reports for Dunning
How can I change the 'Dunning level' for line items in the 'Dunning History/Dunning overview'? I have read in help.sap that I can change it, but am not able to find where I could do that.
link: http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_03/helpdata/EN/bc/2127c4265911d286d6006008bbc8e8/frameset.htm (In 3rd para).
Can anyone tell me if there are any reports available to view the 'Dunning list'(other than Dunning History in F150).
Also, Our client needs a report which shows a list of all 'customers' and 'line items' Blocked for Dunning.
Please give me your suggestions ASAP.

I'm looking at running the ALFS editor . I'm in WebAS 7.00 . The Themes/templates and brand colours on the left frame does appear but the bsp page does not appear . used the standard bsp page which appears as a default ( bsp add it05 ) . The error message is as follows
The following error text was processed in the system:
BSP Exception: Das Objekt entrypoint.htm_sap-themeRoot=/sap/public/bc/ur/design2002/themes/alfs1000101F5FFFA2F4F4F2929296F8FAF3F5F7F in der URL /sap/bc/bsp/sap/it05/entrypoint.htm&sap-themeRoot=%2fsap%2fpublic%2fbc%2fur%2fdesign2002%2fthemes%2falfs1000101F5FFFA2F4F4F2929296F8FAF3F5F7F ist nicht gültig.
But if I run the bsp application manually then the right theme does get picked up . I made the entry in the bspthemeroot table and put in the alfs parameter in the above url ( 1000101F5FFFA2F4F4F2929296F8FAF3F5F7F ) . The bsp application works fine but not the alfs editor . Any ideas ? -
Report at Material level(for all the plants)?
Hi Experts,
We have simple query which gives following output.
&Plant&Material No&Creation Date&Issue date&QTY issued&
P1 M1 01/10/2004 01/01/2005 10
P2 M1 01/12/2004 15/12/2004 20
P3 M1 01/01/2005 15/01/2005 30
Actually I want to report at material level ( for all plants in one shot ) , additionaly I want to show the minimum creation date for that material and minimum issue date and sum of all 3 qty issued.
The output should look like
&Material No&Creation Date&Issue date&QTY issued
M1 01/10/2004 15/12/2004 60
Can any body suggest how do i get the date fields with the above condition
Thanks in advance.
Regs,
MahanteshHi Mahantesh ,
Try this:
Take two more KFs in the cube.
1) Creation Date as KF
Type: Date
Exception aggregation : First value
Aggregation reference : 0material.
2) Issue Date as KF
Type: Date
Exception aggregation : Last value
Aggregation reference : 0material.
In the query take 0material in rows and above 2 KF in the columns (May be , here , you need restriction also. 'Creation Date as Characterstic' > 01.01.1000 ,Issue Date as characterstic' < 31.12.9999 )
