Bulk insert for two tables

Hi All,
I have a cursor in PL/SQL block and it selects the data for about 100 columns, my requirement is to insert the data of about 60 columns into one table and rest of the columns into another. Please let me know how do I implement the same by using BULK INSERT.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Why not dispense with the CURSOR and instead use a multi-table INSERT...SELECT?
INSERT ALL
  INTO table1 (col1, col2, ..., col60)
  VALUES (col1, col2, ..., col60)
  INTO table2 (col61,...col100)
  VALUES (col61,...col100)
SELECT col1,..., col100
FROM etc.where the SELECT is doing the same query as the CURSOR.

  • Insert into two tables, how to insert multiple slave records

Hi, I have a problem with insert into two tables wizard.
The wizard works fine and I can add my records, but I need to enter multiple slave table records.
    My database:
    table: paper
    `id_paper` INTEGER(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT,
    `make` VARCHAR(20) COLLATE utf8_general_ci NOT NULL DEFAULT '',
    `model` VARCHAR(20) COLLATE utf8_general_ci NOT NULL DEFAULT '',
    `gsm` INTEGER(11) NOT NULL,
    PRIMARY KEY (`id_paper`)
    table: paper_data
    `id_paper_data` INTEGER(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT,
    `id_paper` INTEGER(11) NOT NULL,
    `value` DOUBLE(15,3) NOT NULL,
    `nanometer` INTEGER(11) NOT NULL,
    PRIMARY KEY (`id_paper_data`)
I need to add multiple fields "value" and "nanometer"
    Current form looks like this:
    Make:
    Model:
    Gsm:
    Value:
    nanometer:
I need it to look like this:
    Make:
    Model:
    Gsm:
    Value:
    nanometer:
    Value:
    nanometer:
    Value:
    nanometer:
    Value:
    nanometer:
    and so on.
The field "id_paper" in table paper_data needs to get same id for entire transaction. Also how do I set default values for each field "nanometer" on my form the must be different (370,380,390 etc)?
    Thanks.

    Hi experts,
Im using ADDT to design a page that needs to insert one record into a master ALBUMS table, along with three records into a GENRES table, all linked by the primary, auto-incremented ALBUMS. ALBUM_ID.
Ive tried many different ways of combining the Insert into Multiple Tables wizard and the insert record wizard with Link Transactions, all with no luck.  Either only the album info gets inserted, or a ALBUM_ID cannot be null error from MySQL.  Here is the structure of the tables

  • Bulk Insert into a Table from CSV file

I have a CSV file with 1000 records and i have to insert those records into a table.
I tried for Bulk Insert command and Load data infile command but it throws error.
Am using Oracle 10g Express Edition.
I want to achieve it thru query command and not by plsql procedures
Please send me query syntax for this problem. . . .
    Thanks in Advance,
    Hariharan ST.

    Hi
If you create an external table that points to your csv file you will then be able populate your table from a query.

  • Fetch data from one table and insert into two tables in desired format

I have similar to the following data in a table and it is not normalized. The groupID is being used to group two records of similar nature.
DECLARE @OldDoc TABLE (oldDocID INT, groupID INT, deptID INT)
INSERT INTO @OldDoc (oldDocID, groupID) VALUES (1, NULL, 111),(2,NULL,111),(3,1,111),(4,NULL,333),(5,1,222),(6,NULL,333),(7,2,222),(8,2,333),(9,NULL,111),(10,3,222),(11,NULL,333),(12,3,444)
I need to process the data from the above table (@OldDoc) and write into two new tables (@NewDoc and @NewDocGroup) as follows.
oldDocID should be stored as newDocID when inserting to @NewDoc table. Only records with groupID NULL and one record (first one) per group should be considered (For example, oldDocID 5 is not considered as 3 and 5 belong to the same groupID 1) for insertion.
    DECLARE @NewDoc TABLE (newDocID INT)
INSERT INTO @NewDoc (newDocID) VALUES (1),(2),(3),(4),(6),(7),(9),(10),(11)
All records from @OldDoc should be considered for insertion into @NewDocGroup table. OldDocID is inserted as NewDocID and deptID is as-is. Instead of groupID, the ID of the first record in the
group should be considered as parentNewDocID (For example, 3 is considered as parentNewDocID for newDocID 5 as 3 and 5 belong to the same groupID in @OldDoc table) for the newDocID.
DECLARE @NewDocGroup (newDocID INT, parentNewDocID INT, deptID INT)
INSERT INTO @NewDocGroup (newDocID, parentNewDocID, deptID) VALUES (1,1,111),(2,2,111),(3,3,111),(4,4,333),(5,3,222),(6,6,333),(7,7,222),(8,7,333),(9,9,111),(10,10,222),(11,11,333),(12,10,444)
How do I accomplish the above using SQL ? Thanks for the help.

    >> I have similar to the following data in a table and it is not normalized. The group_id is being used to group two records [sic] of similar nature. <<
Rows are not records. Tables have to have a key by definition. You do not do math with identifiers, so they should not be numeric. Let's ignore that error for now. In short, you are posting garbage. If you had followed Forum Netiquette, would you have posted
    this?
    CREATE TABLE Old_Documents
(old_doc_id INTEGER NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
     group_id INTEGER,
     dept_nbr INTEGER NOT NULL
       REFERENCES Departments (dept_nbr));
    INSERT INTO Old_Documents(old_doc_id, group_id, dept_nbr)
    VALUES  (1, NULL, 111),
    (2, NULL, 111),
    (3, 1, 111),
    (4, NULL, 333),
    (5, 1, 222),
    (6, NULL, 333),
    (7, 2, 222),
    (8, 2, 333),
    (9, NULL, 111),
    (10, 3, 222),
    (11, NULL, 333),
    (12, 3, 444);
    >> I need to process the data from the above table (Old_Documents) and write into two new tables (New_Documents and New_Documents_Groups) as follows. <<
Just like punch cards and mag tape data processing! Being old and being new are a status, not another kind of entity. But that is how mag tapes work. And you even use the verb "fetch" from tape files. This design flaw is called  attribute splitting.
Do you have a Male_Personnel and Female_Personnel table? NO! It is just Personnel!
    >> old_doc_id should be stored as new_doc_id when inserting to New_Documents table. Only records [sic] with group_id NULL and one record [sic] (first [sic; no ordering in a table] one) per group should be considered (For example, old_doc_id 5 is not considered

Think about your punch card mindset. Why did you physically materialize that redundant New_Documents table? Let me answer that: this is how you work with punch cards! In SQL we use a VIEW:
    CREATE VIEW New_Documents (new_doc_id)
    AS
    SELECT old_doc_id
      FROM Old_Documents;
    >> All records [sic] from Old_Documents should be considered for insertion into New_Documents_Groups table. The old_doc_id is inserted as new_doc_id and dept_nbr is as-is. Instead of group_id, the ID [sic: which identifier??] of the first [sic: tables
have no ordering like a deck of punch cards] record [sic] in the group should be considered as parent_new_doc_id (For example, 3 is considered as parent_new_doc_id for new_doc_id 5 as 3 and 5 belong to the same group_id in Old_Documents table) for the new_doc_id.
    <<
Why not use 5 as the parent? My guess is that you are trying to form equivalence classes. See:

  • Bulk insert into a table

What is the counter part for sql server BULK insert in Oracle.
I have gone through an existing thread for the same question Bulk Insert CSV file in Oracle 9i But here it is suggested to read from a file into and external table and then to create my own table reading from external table.
But I want to read directly from a file to an existing table in my database. How do I achieve this?
    Thank you,
    Praveen.

    Refer to
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14117_01/server.101/b10825/ldr_modes.htm#i1008078
"During Direct Path load through SQL Loader, some constaints and all db triggers are disabled. With the conventional path load method, arrays of rows are inserted with standard SQL INSERT statements—integrity constraints and insert triggers are automatically applied.
After the rows are loaded and indexes rebuilt, any triggers that were disabled are automatically reenabled. The log file lists all triggers that were disabled for the load. There should not be any errors reenabling triggers."

  • Insert into two tables

I want to input a set of data into form text fields then
insert that data into a table plus insert one of those fields into
another table when the form button is clicked.
I've played around with Recordsets etc but I can't work out
how to define a server behaviour which will enable me to do what I
want. I'm using DWMX 2004 by the way.
Probably simple but I'm new to this and can't find an
explanation anywhere in the help files. Perhaps one of the resident
gurus could offer me some advice?
    TIA, Ken

You can't insert data into two tables in a single operation.
    It requires
two insert record queries to be run in succession.

Can I make the two insert queries run from a single form
button press? Shoould I have a recordset or write two separate
    queries, one for each table?

  • Insert from two tables

    Hello,
    I have two tables
    table1
    userid
    username
    table2
    sessionid
    userid [foreign key]
    quantuty
When somebody adds a new a record to table1 the userid is auto increment, i need to get this value and insert it into table2. I could use a stored procedure but i have reasons why i cant.
I need something like the following
into table2 values ((select userid from table1 where username='givenname'), 1)Any ideas for help would be appreciated.

I don't think there is anything WRONG with
INSERT INTO table2 (userid, quantity) SELECT userid, 1 FROM table1 WHERE username = 'me'
but that means your application must know when anything gets inserted into table1. It also means that username should be unique in table2.
This sounds like a good time to use a database trigger.

  • How to insert in two tables

    Hello,
I have a form that should be insert/update data in two tables. in the context.
the form is based on a GPV_REASSIGN table, then i want to insert into this table and also into an audit table named GPV_AUDIT_REASSIGN each time i make a commit form.
    2) iI would like also to read the GPV_REASSIGN table everyday to find out if there are new records, if so take these records and update two others tables. notice i want to do this transaction everynight.
I know i have to write a procedure to that, but i don't really know the concept behind this kind of transaction.
    could someone help me, please?

    1) There are two apporaches to this kind of auditing information:
    - Use databasebase triggers to do the appropiate insert into the audit-table
    SQL> DROP TABLE TEST;

    SQL> DROP TABLE TEST_HIST;

SQL>Advantage of this method is that it is always executed regardless form the insert comes.
    - Use a POST-INSERT-trigger and POST-UPDATE-trigger on the client-side in the form itself to do the appropiate insert into the audit-table
    POST-INSERT-trigger
    INSERT INTO TEST_HIST (
      ID,
      DATA,
      DATE_CHANGED,
      ACTION,
      USER_CHANGED
    ) VALUES (
      :BLOCK.ID,
      :BLOCK.DATA,
      SYSDATE,
      'I',
      USER
    );POST-UPDATE-trigger
    INSERT INTO TEST_HIST (
      ID,
      DATA,
      DATE_CHANGED,
      ACTION,
      USER_CHANGED
    ) VALUES (
      :BLOCK.ID,
      :BLOCK.DATA,
      SYSDATE,
      'A',
      USER
    );2) Create a DB-procedure to do your task (example-logic):
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE PR_MYPROC IS
    BEGIN
      INSERT INTO TABLE2 (
        IDCOLUMN,
        COL2,
        COL3
      ) (SELECT IDCOLUMN,
                VAL2,
                VAL3
           FROM MYBASETABLE OUTER
          WHERE NOT EXISTS (SELECT 1
                              FROM TABLE2 INNER
                             WHERE INNER.IDCOLUMN=OUTER.IDCOLUMN
    END;
/then you can use DBMS_SCHEDULER-package to create a job which runs every night.

  • How to use the TableSorter for two tables at the same view?

    Hello,
I am using the TableSorter object in order to sort Dynpro tables.
Suppose I have two tables at the same view, is it possible to use it seperatly for both of them?
I assume that at the wdModifyView method I will need to catch the table that the user clicked on, yet I don't have an idea of how to do it...

    Hi Roy,
    Constructor of TableSorter
public TableSorter(IWDTable table, IWDAction sortAction, Comparator[] comparators)
So, you have to create instance of TableSorter class for each table on the view.

This isn't what you asked, but I've generally found it helpful to list the columns in an INSERT statement before the values. It is of course optional, but useful for reference when looking at the statement later

  • ODBC driver hangs for two table joining

    Hi,
I was trying to access two tables with the following statements. I used Oracle 8 ODBC driver to access Oracle 9 database. Statement 1 and 2 are working fine but executing Statement 3 will hangs the program.
Statement1: SELECT (fields from two table) from (table1 and table 2) where table1.key=123
Statement2: SELECT (fields from two table) from (table1 and table 2) where table2.key=345
Statement3: SELECT (fields from two table) from (table1 and table 2) where table1.key=table2.key
In the tables 1 and 2 there was no match key, but it should return NULL or nothing.. instead it hangs...
Anyone encounter this problem before? Thanks a lot for replying me...
    Keith

I am looking for a SELECT query which generates INSERT statements for a table. Please guide.
    Thanks
    PG.

    Like this?
    SQL> SELECT * from kons;
         COL1      COL2
            1         1
            2         2
    SQL> SELECT 'INSERT INTO kons VALUES('||col1||','||col2||');' statement FROM kons;
    STATEMENT
    INSERT INTO kons VALUES(1,1);
    INSERT INTO kons VALUES(2,2);
SQL> If you have character and / or date columns you will have to change my example,
but you might get the idea from it.
You can spool the result to a file.
    Regards,
    Guido
Edit: ';' added to end of statement...
