Bullets Missing

When I print to PDF from Word 2007, the bullets in my document are not displaying.
Would you please advise the steps I must take to have these bullets appear in the document.
Thank you.
Robin

If you are having problems creating a PDF, there are two steps you should do FIRST
Go to the appropriate vendor web site and apply all updates to the program you are using (several recent messages have concerned problems with MS Word conversion, with the response that different versions of Word have different BUGS that must be fixed by a download from Microsoft - and MS Office products are not the only ones which may, from time to time, need to be updated to work properly)
Go to the Acrobat update page and apply the updates for your version of Acrobat
IN NUMBER ORDER (updates are not cumulative so, using version 8 as an example, you must apply 8.1.0 before the 8.1.1 update)

  • Where did my bullets go in Keynote? And why am I missing files?

I've been working on a Keynote presentation that will be exported as a PDF eBook. I opened it up today and I get error messages saying that I have missing files and my square "checkmark-less" bullets have disappeared. (See image below)
I'm using the Black Checkmark Bullets. The checkmark bullets are ok. Its checkmarkless cousin isn't listed in the inspector window when I try to update it manually. I'm also getting a lot of error messages.
This is the first time I've expereinced this problem. Running 10.7.3 on a MBPro (2.66 i7 w/4GB RAM), Keynote 5.1.1).
Ideas to correct this issue? Thanks in advance!

    SOLVED -
Used AppCleaner to unstaill Keynote, Pages and Numbers. Reinstalled iWork from disk and ran updates. Issue resolved itself after this.

  • Bullet 2.79-2 Missing Files

The packages is missing at least two ".inl" (inlined code) files in /usr/include/bullet/HACD. I assume this is a bug.
    Thanks.
    --Mark

The task (29012) was closed with reason "not a bug". But the files are indeed missing, and compilations that involve those files fail. I requested that the task be re-opened, but I'm sorry if I'm missing something or not following protocol.

  • Missing bullet type with Keynote/Yosemite upgrade

    Hello,
recently I updated from Mavericks to Yosemite and the corresponding Keynote update as well.
As a result a bullet point used throughout a plethora of my old presentations seems to be missing in the new version of Keynote and has been replaced with a strange symbol.  It may not seem like very much on a computer screen but when projected on a 50 foot screen for 200 hundred people it looks like an odd choice.
Is there any way to get the old "normal" bullet point back?

  • Broken Keynote themes and missing bullets

Since I last created and played a Keynote presentation on Dec 1st, something happened and many of my themes are not fully functional. My "Retro" and "Craft" themes give the warning: "One or more colors could not be properly read, and may not display correctly on some systems." The background for those slides was missing (blank with an X through it) and many small images and bullets were also missing (with X and ? symbols instead). The slides in the preview window are correct though.
Venetian, Kyoto and Moroccan gave the same error message, but only seem to be missing bullets.
Harmony, Vellum, Industrial, Scrapbook, Hard Cover, Water Color and Pushpin didn't give an error message but were still missing bullets.
I'm running Keynote 5.0.3, and the last two updates I ran since creating a working presentation with the Retro theme and noticing the brokenness were "Java for Mac OSX 10.5 Update 6" and "Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Upd 2.7". In both cases my machine did not correctly reboot itself, but the updates claim they were successfully installed.
Rebooting didn't help. Do I need to reinstall iWork? Does anyone have any idea what happened?

My guess is you're actually editing regular slides and not the masters. Choose Show Master Slides from the little view pop-up menu in the tool bar and you'll see the Master slide area appear above the regular slides. Edit THOSE and your changes will stick.
Then take a look at this tutorial:
    http://www.keynoteuser.com/tips/savingtheme.html
Now, once you've got a theme, the only EMPTY text containers that can be placed on a master are the Title and Body boxes. Anything else on a Master will be locked in, but you CAN put text on a master and it will show up on all slides that use that master.
    As for your bullet points...
    1. Yeah, others have found 3rd party solutions for this that work well. Hopefully someone will chime in on that.
    2. Yeah, it's lacking in that area, though you can put a bunch of shapes on a slide in PPT and then open that PPT file in Keynote and most of them will come into Keynote with the stoke and fill still editable (a little hidden feature few know about).
    3. You can drag speech bubbles across themselves in any direction and they'll flip over, without the text flipping over.

  • Why are spaces missing at end of wrapped lines in bulleted lists

    Hi -
Acrobat 11.0.10, Word 2013, Windows 7 ... Sometimes tagged PDFs don't have spaces at the end of wrapping lines in bulleted lists, throughout the document. In text edit mode the cursor movement indicates no space exists. Selecting with text touch-up shows no space. In accessible text the last word on line runs into first word on next line.  JAWS mis-pronounces those words as if they are one word.  PAC preview also shows the words running together.
Adding a space in text edit mode works for a few minutes, but when file is saved & reopened spaces are gone, even if, immediately after adding the spaces, I select the block of LBody text with text touch-up and re-tag it and initially spaces appear to have been added.
Is starting to happen on a routine basis, different source files, different people/computers generating the PDFs, multiple computer reboots, Acrobat repair run, MS Office repair run. But not consistent ... e.g., if someone generated PDF with no spaces at end, someone else can generate from same source and spaces are present.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Thanks 'C' student, nice to know it's not just us - "misery loves company" and all that.
So far besides your reply there's deafening silence.
Come on, folks, don't any of you experts have a solution for this? Or at least an inkling of an idea what may be causing this? It's starting to happen all the time now, becoming a major problem.  We may have to start by getting Acrobat to self-tag rather than starting with the tags generated from the source programs, but that adds time and effort because Acrobat's tags for our often complex documents are laughable and have, ironically, such poor syntax.
Is there a way to get a discussion seen by more people?

  • Bulleted List Help. I should know how to do this but I must be missing something.

I need to create a bulleted list that does this:
    1. Subject One
       a. Sub subject
       b. Sub Subject 2
I can create a bulleted list.. but how do I created a nested bulleted list like above so that the 2nd item in the list is indented in and starts with an a. ?
    IDCS3

    In CS3, something like this
Create from Bullets and Numbering, Type > List, defaults to a numbered list. For the sub set create a copy of the first and set the List type to use a., b., c etc (from the numbering style, I also set level 2)

  • Pages bullet images missing

When I use the Text Inspector to format a bulleted list only one "image bullet" appears and attempting to scroll has no reults. How do I get the other image bullets that are supposed to be in there?

Well, I figured this one out as well. It was quite stupid
actually. Like I said in my other "self-answered post" I'm going to
briefly describe the solution for anyone who might need the help.
When Crossword Forge exports your file for the web it makes a
folder with that crosswords documents and it's background image.
You told Crossword Forge what image to use for the
background. Even though it makes a new jpg for your background, it
still has to reference the original. Keep those originals in your
local root folder. don't move them. Crossword Forge will have a
hissy if it can't find the original image. Yeah, even though it
    creates a new image.

  • Bullet animations. "Build With Previous" missing

I am making a presentation and I have a number of bullets I want to appear at the same time as opposed to after one another. However in Keynote the only options available in the "build order" inspector are "On Click" and "After Previous". "With Previous" which used to be an option on older versions appears to be gone.
Is there any way to fix this or do I need to switch to PowerPoint, LaTeX Beamer or another tool?

    Gary Scotland wrote:

The default is that bulleted text will appear all together.
Yes. What I am looking for is better control over bullet delivery so to speak.
    Example:
    A
    A1
    A2
    B
    C
    D
Say I want A to be delivered as the slide is revealed, then A1 and A2 at the same time, B and C simultaneously and then D alone.
Keynote lets me deliver C after B or A2 after A1 automatically, but not simultaneously - and that is my challenge.
    Gary Scotland wrote:

You are using the wrong control, use:
Inspector > Animate > Build In > Delivery
That does not give me the option of letting different items be delivered at the same time. It lets me choose for example "by bullet group" but not whether a couple of specified bullets are delivered at the same time.
According to Keynote Help I am in the right place.
It states there are supposed to be three timing options:
On Click: The build plays when you click.
With Build [number]: The build plays at the same time as the build before it.
After Build [number]: The build plays after the previous build finishes. Adjust the delay using the arrows next to the Delay field.
Though I can only see On Click and After Build.

  • "Bullets & Lists" in Text Options

    Hi,
i format some text as "Header", format the text (bold, underline, 18px, and Aphabetic Bullets), see the "Update" button an update the textstyle.
Next step i write a line, mark it and choose textstyle "Header" .
Now its Bold and 18px and underlined but the next Alphabetic Bullet is missing (In these case "B.").
Now i´m looking at the textstyle options and there are no bullets selectet. If i select once more "Alphabetic Bullets" tere ist no "Update" Button appearing.
    Whts wrong?
I´m using Mavericks and Pages 5.1 (1769) - No Updates are availible on a late 2013 MB Pro.
    Thank you

Because they rewrote Pages as a completely new application to match the iOS version.
    They removed over 100 features.
It is really a beta version, but hasn't told its users, and heaven knows what features will eventually be in Pages 5. I don't think even Apple knows.

  • Bullets and Numbering buttons/options?

Hi. Am in a bit of a bind, hope someone can help.
Using InDesign CS 3.0.1 on Windows. Packaged and installed by the company I work for, so I cannot update manually (if it turns out I need to....?)
My problem: Cannot find any options for Bullets and Numbering.
It has just occurred to me, as I type this, that "InDesign 3.0.1" might not equate to "InDesign CS3" ? This is potentially very confusing! Do I have a version of InDesign here that doesn't have Bullet/Numbering buttons in the Paragraph Control Toolbar?
If these buttons should exist, I'd like to know why I don't have them. I have tried restoring prefs etc. to defaults but they're still not appearing.
Interestingly a search in the Help doesn't yield any answers, so I'm thinking I may have a version which doesn't have this feature?!?
Could someone confirm/deny, and let me know what version I need if it's the case that I have a previous version.
EDIT: Seems I might share this problem?.... http://groups.google.com/group/adobe.indesign.windows/browse_thread/thread/b27d031aa08292 6f
If so, I guess I need to find out how I can get the plugins installed by the company???

  • Theme change re-orders Bullet build order

I have used KN'09's "set timing and order for each build" to create bullets so that each bullet is accompanied by its own graphic. This was done by manually interleaving the graphic in and out builds in the build order, within the list of bullets. Something I have always wanted to do, so that is great.
Only downside, when I change themes for all pages, bullets are reordered together again. For your info the first theme chosen is LetterPress.
    Any ideas?

    maralevin wrote:
You mean the problem does not exist in Acrobat 8? I suppose I can reload 8 to
use for forms, but I'll have to check since it's my client's PC.
Sorry, I missed this earlier. No, the tab reordering bug is not a problem with Acrobt 8, it uses the other method I've mentioned. On my Windows 7 Pro machine, I've set up a virtual XP installation using "XP Mode", and have Acrobat 7 installed on it so I can set the tab order of forms I create with Acrobat 9. You may be able to do the same if your client's machine is Windows 7 Pro or better.
I know a very experienced Acrobat forms developer who still uses Acrobat 5 Pro on the Mac to do a lot of forms authoring. Things have gotten worse in a number of ways for Acrobat forms developers over the years. This whole tab order issue is in my opinion the worst.

  • How to Change the (Missing) Font in Endnotes

Hello and thanks (again) in advance,
My preflight report showed that I have 170 errors: they are all missing fonts in the numbers of the endnotes.
Some of the Endnotes are in the Times New Roman Font, but for some reason, 170 endnotes are not. This is a font problem with the "number" part of the endnotes -- the text in the endnotes is all Times New Roman.
What I would like to do is to change the font from the missing one (Cambria Regular) to Times New Roman.
The endnotes were imported when I placed this MS-Word document into InDesign.
Here's what I tried, that failed:
    1. Fix the font problem when I opened the file, and InDesign showed missing fonts. (This fixed the fonts -- changed them from Cambria to Times New Roman) for all the text, but did not touch the numbers in the endnotes.
    2. Search and Replace for the number of the Endnote -- the numbers were ignored by the search.
    3. Search and Replace for the number of the Endnote, with the "Include Footnotes" button highlighted
    4. Search and Replace for Cambia Regular text (although I might not have done that correctly.) ... I left the "Find What" box blank, and in the "Find Format" box I selected Cambria Regular. ... Nothing was found.
    5. I deleted one of the numbers -- endnote 202 -- "by hand", and then retyped the number. This did change the font, but it had the bad effect of ruining the endnote numbering system: it made the next endnote (number 203) below it into number "1" and the endnote after that "2"
Also, I wondered if it "broke" the entire endnote system -- If there is some connection between the number that I deleted, and the corresponding superscript number in the text itself.
Here (below) is a screen shot of my pre-flight report.
You can see that some of the numbers in the endnotes,  (for example: 200 and 202) are in the correct font; but endnote numbers 201, 203, 204 are not in Times New Roman.
I am stuck ... Suggestions are welcome and appreciated !
    ZtG

Since ID doesn't really support endnotes, I suspect they were imported as a numbered list, particulary considering the uselectablility and find/change sympotoms you describe. Bullets and numbers in lists aren't "real" characters that can selected.
Find font should probably have done the trick if the numbers were assigned a style in the list definition AND you checked the update styles when changing all box in Find Font, so I'm also going to guess that you either didn't check the box or there is no style assigned to the numbers (and I suppose it's possible they aren't really a list).
The best solution would be, I think, to first verify that they the endnotes are a list, and to assign a character style to the numbers.

  • How do I format bullet lists in the Notes tab?

I have a transcript of the audio narration in the Notes section of my source PowerPoint slides. When I publish with Adobe Presenter, these transcripts appear in the Notes tab in the published course. However, when I publish my course, any bullet lists that I may have formatted in the Notes view in PowerPoint, do not format correctly in the published course. The text of the bullets is there, but the bullet formatting is missing.
I am using Adobe Presenter 8, PowerPoint 2007, and I'm running on Windows 7 Professional. I have tried saving my PowerPoint file in the PPTX format and in the older PPT format. Neither retains the bullet-list formatting in the published course.
Is there a trick to getting lists to format correctly in the Notes tab?
