Burning CD's of Pictures

We took a trip with some people, and want to make CD's for them. I could take the SD card to Walmart or Costco and get photos made, but the cost would be astronomical as we have literally 100's of pictures. How do I do this? I have been scrolling down (the pix are in iPhoto)and clicking "burn" to find out how much would fit on a 700 mb disc, but this takes SO LONG. It's going to take the rest of my life to do this at this rate. I would like to give them a copy of all of them, not take forever to go through and try to figure out which ones to give them. Thanks for any advice...keeping in mind I am a "NewbieMacUser" so don't go too far over my head LOL

I didn't know the answer, because I use Toast to burn my discs. So I went to the Finder, then chose Mac Help from the Help menu. In the search box I typed "burn CD" and got this:
*Burning a CD or DVD:* 1. Insert a blank disc into the optical drive of your computer. If you see a dialog, you can choose an action from the pop-up menu and select "Make this action the default" if you want the same thing to happen every time you insert a blank disc. The disc appears on your desktop. 2. Double-click the disc to open it, and drag the files and folders you want on it to its window. The Finder places aliases to the files in the disc's window. The original files are not moved or deleted. 3. Arrange and rename the files exactly as you want them. When burning the disc, the Finder gives the items on the disc the same names and locations as the aliases in the disc window. After the disc is burned, you cannot change them. 4. Choose File > Burn Disc, and follow the instructions. The files that the aliases point to are burned to the disc. In addition, if any folder you copied contains aliases, the original files for those aliases are burned to the disc as well.
and this
*Using a burn folder to burn a CD or DVD:* 1.Choose File > New Burn Folder, and give the folder a name. 2.Drag the items you want on a disc to the burn folder. 3.When you're ready to burn the folder's contents to a disc, double-click it, and click Burn. 4.Insert a disc, and follow the instructions.
Do those help?
Regards.

  • Burning a set of pictures multiple times onto CDs

I'm trying to burn a set of pictures multiple times onto CDs with Lightroom. Using Export I can burn one set but if I'd like to burn another set I need to Export again and overwrite the existing files every time. Is there no way in Lightroom to burn another CD with the files that are already there?

The transfer is meant to be one-way from iTunes to iPod. Are the songs on the playlist iTunes Store purchases or were they ripped from your personal collection. If iTunes purchases, you should be able to transfer those from the iPod. Read the following doc for specifics:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93063
If not iTunes purchases, your best bet is probably to connect the iPod to the first computer and enable disk use on the iPod. Then copy the song files to the iPod's hard drive space. When you connect to the second computer, drag the files from the iPod's hard drive to your computer. You will then have to authorize the computer to play them. (You're allowed up to five authorizations.)

  • Burned DVD pauses between pictures when played on TV/DVD player

When I burn a dvd using picture transitions and play it on a TV/DVD player, it pauses for about 3 seconds between every picture and says "searching for signal".  How can I burn a dvd to play on TV using the transitions without having the pause between each picture?

    Hi
    A. Did You use SlideShow function in iDVD - It is limited to 99 photos per Show - you can have more than one on a DVD
    B. What brand of DVD did You use ? Cheap ones as Memorex, NoNames etc usually DO NOT Work - I only use Verbatim
    C. What type of DVD did You use ? I only use DVD-R as they play on more devices (even older DVD-Players)
Never DVD+/-RW as they are known problem maker whatever brand used.
    D. Did You set down burn speed ? I do to x4 = Less burn errors = Plays better
    E. Free space on Start-Up hard disk, How much ? I never go under 25Gb for iDVD and Mac OS temp files and as they can not be stored elsewhere.

  • I want to burn a cd of pictures from my mac but do not have a cd drive

I took 268  pictures with my DSLR camera at a family gathering.  Uploaded all to iPhoto and deleted from my camera.  Now everyone wants copies.
Can I hook up an external dvd drive to the back of the iMac to burn photos to a cd/dvd?
Do I need any special app or software to facilitate the process?

Yes, you can hook up an external CD/DVD burner.  The Apple USB Superdrive would be perfect.
If all you are doing is burning files (photos) to a CD, you don't need any special software.   Just insert a blank CD, then use the Finder to drag the files (photos) to the CD.  When you are done copying  photos to the CD, drag the CD icon to the Trash to burn the CD.
In the future, if you want to burn audio CDs, use iTunes.   To burn DVD videos, however, you will need software such as iDVD, Roxio Toast, etc.

  • Ken Burns Effect to Multiple Pictures

I would like to use the Ken Burns effect for all the images in a 100 plus image slide show. Is there an easy way to do this?
    Thanks in advance!

If you want all theclips to zoom the same way without the tromboning, set the effect on one clip and save it (cmd-C).
Select the remaining clips and choose Edit>Paste Effects (or alt-cmd-V).
If the original clip has additional effects that you don't want to paste you will haveto deselect them in the Inspector.

  • Burned DVD contains same picture over and over

I'm trying to make successful DVDs of 3,357 photos exported from iPhoto through the following process Share, successful
    Export, successful
    Resized(smaller), successful
    Make Burn folder, successful
Drag images to Burn folder, successful
Burn, FAILURE - OVER AND OVER
I've repeated this process on three different occasions starting from scratch, which takes a long time, and I've ruined 7 DVDs.
Any help will be appreciated. My local apple reps are stumped. I'm beginning to regret making the change.
    Thanks

    CAT:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Let me clarify what you're doing. You're exporting the reduced size image files to a folder on the desktop, inserting a blank DVD disc in the burner, when it mounts on the desktop you drag the folder of image files (or just the image files from the folder) onto the DVD and drag the disc to the Trash icon to burn. Is that how you're doing it?

  • Can't Burn a copy of pictures to DVD

I have a 1.5 Ghz Powerbook G4 17inch and I am having trouble burning a backup of my photos to DVD. I have done this in the past with no troubles, but this time when I go to burn a DVD I get the following message.
The burn to the MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-825 drive failed. The device failed to respond properly, unable to recover or retry.
Anyone have a similar problem? Any ideas on how to make a backup? Thanks for your help.
Feel free to email me [email protected]

I am having the same issue with iPhoto in my Mac Pro. At first I thought it was just my external DVD burner malfunctioning when attempting to backup my iPhoto library onto dual-layer discs. But single-layer discs won't work, neither in the external nor the internal burner. DVD movies from Video TS folders I authored will burn fine using Toast, but I have ruined a bunch of blanks attempting to use iPhoto. Aargh!

  • Error code when trying to burn a CD of pictures

What does this error code mean?
The disc can’t be burned because an unexpected error occurred (error code 0x80020000).
It happens each time I click burn to disk?
    Thanks.

This is the discussion area for the iMac G4.
Do you have an iMac G4? Or do you have an Intel-based iMac as your system information states? If you have an Intel-based iMac you should post in the Intel-based iMac discussion area.

  • After being on FaceTime for a fairly long period a burn appears where the picture of yourself is shown!

Any ideas on what could be the problem and how it can be remedied? And if I need to talk to Apple?
    Thanks

    Smartiefan-
The location of the burn might just be a coincidence.  Regardless, it sounds like a problem.  If you can demonstrate it to an Apple Store Genius, you may get a new one on the spot.

  • What format is "Picture CD" and can I burn it?

I have two TVs with built-in DVD players that say that they will play "Picture CDs". What format are these Picture CDs? Can I burn the proper format from within iTunes 6? Are they jpegs and what resolution should they be? Should the photos be organized within folders? Is this the same format needed to use self-serve digital photo printer at a retail store? Thanks in advance for any answers.

    Hi TripleChime,
iPhoto does not make a Picture CD that can be viewed on newer DVD players.
You can use a third party application such as Dragon Burn to make a Picture CD.
    Dragon Burn
You can also make slideshows of photos with iDVD and include the full resolution photos on the DVD. Check out the next tutorial to see how:

  • Degraded picture when burning dvd

When I complete a project including menus and burn to a dvd I find the picture quality is degraded.  I import avi, vob and wmv files into a project often from vhs or hi8 vhs tapes via a analog to digital converter.  The video looks fine but when it is burned I find the picture is not to clear and often there is ghosting or double images.  What causes this and how can I fix it?

    Sparky
The investment in the Canopus 110 and now the firewire port consideration are major considerations with no assurances that the technology will have any impact on what you seek in your end product. Can you return these devices if they do not work for you?
Could we recap for a moment....given that you have your footage on the Premiere Elements Timeline and it comes time for the Publish+Share/Disc/DVD disc and you get your ghosting images in the play back of the DVD.
What does the playback look like with a computer player when the export is instead Publish+Share/Computer/AVI/DV NTSC Standard? I think that I would feel more comfortable knowing that information before moving further.
I have never used a firewire port so I do not have any first hand information to offer; you probably have the same type of general firewire knowledge that I have from a Google search.
We will be watching for your progress and be interested in knowing what that DV AVI standard file looks like with one of the computer players.
    Thanks.

  • Pictures burn as Thumbnails to CD

The other day I decided to burn some of my pictures off of iPhoto over to a Blank CD-R, the burn went well, but the problem I ran into was, the pictures burnt as small thumbnails. This doesn't make sense as in the burn options I selected Full Size Images, and the pictures in my iPhoto library are not thumbnails, but are quality 5 MP images.
    Regards--- Justin

    Hi Justin,
Have you tried to export images to a folder on your desktop and then copy onto CD? This option has worked everytime for me...

    what does this mean?
You have a disc inside your optical drive.

    Remove the extra disc.
    My answers are basic because:
You never told us which model iMac you have?
How you are burning?  Through iMac?  External burner?
Which OS you are currently using?

  • Want to burn CD with pictures for Windows - help screen that is refenced is not available. ?

Want to burn a CD with pictures suitable for Windows (not iPhoto). The Mac refers me to a help topic which is not available. How do you make this CD?

Because they are being sorted by either the date or title info.
Select the Album you want to burn, click View on the menu bar, select Sort Photos, select Manually, if necessary arrange the photos, then burn them onto the CD.
But even then, the Windows Photo Viewer or whatever software may still try and sort them by the date or info tag.

  • Need help quick! Please! How do I burn Picture Files onto a DVD?!

When I put in a blank DVD, it doesn't show up in finder. So i thought i'd try using the Disk Utility. I select the DVD on the side bar and press the "burn" button. The picture files are grey and unelectable; i actually didn't see a selectable file. Please please help, I need this done in 30 minutes! Do i have to burn them onto CD's?

Since I have no idea what Operating system your using I will give it for both Tiger and Leopard.
Mac OS X 10.4 Help: Burning a CD or DVD
Burning Data CDs and DVDs in Leopard and Tiger
Mac OS X 10.5 Help: Burning a CD or DVD
Depending on which version iPhoto you have that could also be used. More detail would help make answering easier.
