Bursting to etext

Hi All,
I am using BIP (5.6.3) embedded in Apps (12.1.2).
I am trying to use the bursting functionality to produce an etext file. Below is my bursting control file:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<xapi:requestset xmlns:xapi="http://xmlns.oracle.com/oxp/xapi">
<xapi:request select="/">
<xapi:delivery>
<xapi:filesystem output="/usr/tmp" id="dd"/>
</xapi:delivery>
<xapi:document output="test" output-type="etext" delivery="dd">
<xapi:template type="etext" location="xdo://XX.XXARXAPFRM.en.00/?getSource=true">
</xapi:template>
</xapi:document>
</xapi:request>
</xapi:requestset>
Pretty basic!! When I run the bursting job in the Apps I get the following error in the log file for the bursting job:
XML/BI Publisher Version : 5.6.3

Can anyone confirm if bursting using a template type of etext and/or the output-type of etext is supported? I have tried various combinations of valid types some of which do not give the error but do not produce output. Thanks in advance

I'm not an expert (I am about to work on this same requirement), so anyone else please feel free to reply.
This post confirms that etext is a supported bursting option: Re: My XSL template runs fine from concurrent manager, but fails while bursting
I noticed your document type was "etext". According to the user guide, I the valid values are pdf, rtf, html, excel, and text. Changing this one line might make all the difference:
<xapi:document output="test" output-type="text" delivery="dd">
Also, your filesystem output is missing the filename. I know the user guide only says to define the directory path here, but all the examples include the filename.
You might also want to make use of the xdodebug.cfg file to turn on statement level logging to get more details.
xdodebug.cfg should be put in your jre/lib dir. Find out which one by looking at the "java.home" property listed in your OPP manager log.
The contents of the file should be the following two lines:
LogLevel=STATEMENT
LogDir=/usr/tmp
Please post your new control file if you get it working.

  • Bursting for etext output

    Hi All,
    I have created a BIP report in R12 and used etext template for generating pipe delimited txt output.
    My requirement is, if the txt file has more than 800 rows, then it has to be splitted and has to be mailed to user as 2 files (first 800 rows is in 1st file, the remaining is in 2nd).
    can we do this by using bursting logic?.
    Thanks in advance..

  • Problem Bursting to eText - Oracle applications

    Hi,
    I want to burst some text to a file in addition to seeing some output in the output of a concurrent program.
    We're on 11.5.10 CU2 and our XML Publisher is 5.6.3.
    The approach is as follows;
    - Create Report and register in Oracle Applications with output type as XML. The application short code is 'XXX'.
    This report uses fnd_request.submit_request to launch XDOBURSTREP in the after-report trigger.
    - Create a Data Definition that has the same code as the short name of the registered concurrent program. The template attached to this Data definition is Excel.
    However the data definition has a bursting control file which calls an eText Template as well.
    The control file looks like this
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <xapi:requestset xmlns:xapi="http://xmlns.oracle.com/oxp/xapi" type="bursting">
    <xapi:request select="/TEST_BURSTING/">
    <xapi:delivery>
    <xapi:filesystem output="/tmp/myfile.txt" id="txt">
    </xapi:filesystem>
    </xapi:delivery>
    <xapi:document output-type="etext" delivery="txt">
    <xapi:template type="etext" location="xdo://XXX.BURST_TEST_ETEXT.en.US?getSource=true">
    </xapi:template>
    </xapi:document>
    </xapi:request>
    </xapi:requestset>The eText template has a code of BURST_TEST_ETEXT and is registered to the language code en with territory code US and an application of XXX.
    When I run it, the first concurrent program is fine and I get my excel output and then the one submitted in the after-report trigger completes with an error like this.
    /tmp/myfile.txt (No such file or directory)
    java.io.FileNotFoundException: /tmp/myfile.txt (No such file or directory)

    Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

  • Generating TEXT output from RTF template/reports

    Hi ,
    We have been working with XML Publisher for a long time now.. and we have come across some requirements such as
    1. Page break in TXT report output
    2. Page Headers after every 'X' lines in TEXT output.
    This was easily achieved with RTF template and PDF/HTML/RTF output, but not with TEXT output in eTEXT template.
    So we started looking into two approaches
    1. Generate TXT from PDF/RTF/HTML output(generated from RTF template), though it will addon to the time, but we are looking for this approach. We are looking for some JAVA api's which can help us to extract text from PDF/HTML/RTF while preserving the format.
    2. Pass the TXT generated by eTEXT template to our custom util , which will split the report in diff. pages.This will get complex as we recieve more and more reports.
    We have also tried hacking the RTF parser used in XML P so as to get a TXT output or using XSL-FO objects in eTEXT parser, but we could not get anything of our help.
    Does anyone have any pointers in this.
    regards
    Gaurav

    You can burst with eText and I have done it
    successfully.
    I don't believe pagebreaks are an option in eText and
    I don't think it makes sense either since your
    generating a flat-file and not a customer or internal
    facing document. Does that make sense?
    Also, if you would like you can use the
    BIPublisherIDE, this code can be converted pretty
    easily to handle jcp. There is a an oa framework
    version I have developed but I haven't posted on my
    blog yet. I plan on adding a bolt on for java
    concurrent programs soon. it's really pretty simple
    just haven't had the time.

    Thanks Ike for your reply.
    I agree with your points on TXT files, but in our case,the reports are generated in TXT format for the customer so we are looking for the above mentioned features.
    I have gone through BIP IDE and its a wonderful small utility which eases the task of BIP development.
    As I mentioned in my original post that we are currently processing the generated TXT report using a custom util. in JAVA to get the desired output in TXT again.
    I assume thats not what a JCP would do,so I am looking to explore that too.
    As I understand the process for report generation is
    1. Generate XSL from eTEXT template.
    2. Get the XML data from DB using XDO
    3. Apply XSL on XML to get the required template.
    If we are looking to achieve some customizations then we need to have the XSL generated with those customizations.
    In this case, where do we plug in the JCP to alter XSL or am I missing something.

  • Output-type="text"

    Has anyone been able to get text output from the bursting engine, such as the DocumentProcessor API?
    It should be a supported feather, and its listed in the XML Publisher user guide 5.5, and up.
    If its not possible, when this bug can be fixed?

    Hi,
    I am trying to burst an etext template, but seem to be having some issues. I'm getting "Start Root Not Found" errors in my Bursting JCP log.
    So to confirm, in my Bursting Control File should the xapi:document and template type be set as:
    <xapi:document output-type="etext" delivery="filesystem2">
      <xapi:template type="etext" location="xdo://IRPO.IRPO_IRCOINV_XMLP_ET.en.US"/>
    </xapi:document>or
    <xapi:document output-type="etext" delivery="filesystem2">
      <xapi:template type="xsl-fo" location="xdo://IRPO.IRPO_IRCOINV_XMLP_ET.en.US"/>
    </xapi:document>I look forward to hearing any suggestions, or if anyone has had any similar experiences or even managed to burst an eText template.

  • CPU usage while generating text output from reports

    hi
    while we attempt to generate the text (delimited) output from reports and when the query fetches more than 1500 rows, the cpu usage stays around 100% for long time paralysing the operation...
    we faced the problem when we attempted to generate text output for around 10000 records.
    any suggestions?

  • How To Prevent Etext Output from Printing on Email Body on bursted report

    Hi,
    I was hoping somebody can help me out. I have a comma delimited text report that was created for EBS 12.1.1 using an rtf and registered with an output format of E-TEXT Outbound. I need this report emailed as an attachment. I have no problems generating the report and emailing it as an attachment. My problem is that aside from the report being an attachment, the report is also appended in the email body right below my intended email body. The report data can span many, many lines so I only want it attached as a text file and not part of the email body. How do I do this?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Bursting with Excel template

    I have uploaded a template created in Excel, and now need to burst this to a group of email addresses.
    In the docs, the only values available for TEMPLATE_FORMAT in the control file are:
    RTF
    PDF
    ETEXT
    XSL_FO
    Yes, I can burst an RTF template and deliver in PDF format, but that is obviously not the same result.

    Oops... I meant to say "I can burst an RTF template to Excel output, but that's different."

  • Printing on Pre Printed Stationery and Bursting Extra Lines

    Hi,
    I am new to BI Publisher. I have managed to build a RTF template to print a check on a pre printed stationery (For Oracle Apps). There are two issues I have:
    1. The check I need to print has the invoice lines on top repeated twice and the actual check at the bottom. The isse is when i print multiple invoice lines and it exceeds the section allocated for invoice lines, it pushes content down and my alignment is destroyed. What i need to do is once a certain number of lines are printed it should print the balance lines in a different file and continue the check as usual. I figured that bursting may be an option but most of the stuff on the internet points to pushing the content through email when bursting. Is there anyway to achieve this.
    2. When displaying output in columns I want to achieve this in a table not using word colums
    <Invoices Section>
    c1 c2
    Invoice Num - Amount Invoice Num Amount
    1 10 4 10
    2 9 5 9
    3 20 6 34
    <end Invoices Section>
    Extral lines after the end of this section should go into a differnt file
    Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Hi user953712,
    1. Check format should use fixed row enumeration matched to the number of remittance lines per stub setup on the Payment Document in EBS.
    2. "not using word columns"? I'd be using a table in Word. Is this a text based format? If so consider ETEXT.
    "should go into a different file"? Sounds like bursting or some other mechanism.
