Business component representation - question

Hello, I'm trying to create objects in ID for a scenario where in we receive EDI documents from external customers and we convert few of them in to files and ftp it to a location. (location is internal to the company).
I already have two parties one representing the EDI customers and the other representing my company... can I create a business component(service) underneath the party of my company representing the file processor (instead of  creating it separately without party)?
If so, how can I model this in the integration scenario to create objects in the ID.
If I represent the EDI(sender) party as third party(external party with B2B communication)...I can assign the party and service to it..
On the received side I'm not able to select the business component I created to represent(couldn't assign) the receiver..the system always expects a business system..
how this could be handled?
Please advise. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Larry.

Hi Harish,
Technically I do not get an error but I'm not even allowed to select a business component while implementing my model in ID. I selected a party and service to assign it to the sender application component(Third party EDI) ..but for the receiver(file service) I got an option only to identify it as business system and business components are not even available for selection (this is while applying my model in ID)..Also I'm not sure if it fits a perfect B2B or A2A scenario as it involves a third party EDI(external) and an internal file service location different to be identified as my own company(party)..I just can use it as service without party and forget about modelling as it's not mandatory...but just wanted to see the usual way of handling this scenario..
Thank you.
Please advise.
Larry.

    Hi Ramya,
A common question :)..if you search sdn you will know more about this
Business system : Use when you know the end system (like system name, ip etc). Generally ECC, R3, JDBC systems wtc..
Business service : When you know that it is a file or htto system but dont have their details.. Generally Soap, HTTP, File etc...

    Hi Suresh,
This is a very common question and you can find the answer in the following link
PI 7.1 ,Business component and business system.
Difference between Business system and Business service.
Diff. between Business service & Business system.
In Short we use Business System when we have all details about the system and can mark it easily in the System landscape.
For other cases we use Business Component.

  • Problem with Business Component when joining multiple tables

I have a table that contains foreign keys from 4 other tables. When I view the table in the Business Component Browser it only returns one record. But when i run the same query in toad it returns the correct number of records. I'm I missing something or is there a bug in the application module?

    Could you be more specific?
Supply the query and tables' definitions.
Is it right that you have created a compound view from all of the five tables?
    Base Table
    -> FK_Table1
    -> FK_Table2
If so, check, whether the wizard correctly generated the associations info in this VO's XML file.
Actually, you recognize this as soon as he generates the query : the where clause should show appropriate fields being connected.
Another question is if you want to use inner or outer joins to the referencing FK tables.

  • Confused about the Business Component Developer Certification

    Excuse me, I´m confused...
How many certifications are about the Business Component Certification? Three??
I thought there was just one, the Business Component Developer, which is the 1Z0-860 code...
but I also have seen these:
Java EE 6 Enterprise JavaBeans Developer Certified Expert Exam - 1Z0-895
Java EE 6 Java Persistence API Developer Certified Expert Exam - 1Z0-898
and now I don´t know which one to study for...
Are these better? Or just different? Or are the last ones just the new ones and the 1Z0-860 is obsolete?
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks in advance! The basic answer to look at the question topics for each exam and and see what fits you. The question topcis should yield insight.
Additionally the following exam is an OCP

The other two are OCE, as far as I can tell. Typically more of an area in depth, but OCE's can vary.

I also notice the earlier exam is J2EE5; the later exams are J2EE6
Hope this helps a little, but this java stuff is too hard for me and i must stackdump.

  • Problem with query an External Business Component!

    Hi guys,
I have created a Business Object based on an External Business Component.
In a WorkFlow in a step of type 'Siebel Operation' for operation I chose 'Query'.
In the section 'Search Spec Input Argument'
For 'Search Specification' I tiped " [Flag] <> 'N' " and no rows are selected :( (for sure there are rows in the table that are true for this condition)
For 'Expression Business Component' and 'Filter Business Component' I tiped my BC
I also would like to mentioned my BC has a field with 'Name' = 'Flag'
I am not sure that my description is quite clear, if you have any questions please ask.
Edited by: slyy on Jun 10, 2010 11:41 PM

Is the WF based on a Business Object i.e. does the WF record (where you specify Workflow Mode, and give it a name) have an entry in the Business Object field?
If it does, is the Business Component that you try to query on the driving business component of that business object?
If not, then that is the problem.

  • Enterprise Services, Service Operations and Functional Business Component

    Hi,
in the Enterprise Service desing guide (see https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/40c05360-0501-0010-63bd-aedd415b6e05 ) the relations between Enterprise Services and Service Operations are covered.
I understand that one Enterprise Service consists of one or  more Service Operations. For Example General Ledger Processing ES offers seven Service Operations. (See Solution Composer)
Functional Business Components offer one or more Enterprise Services and several Service Operations. As mentioned in the Design Guide, an Enterprise Services is dedicated to a certain Functional Business Component. An Enterprise Service could use several Service Operations of  one ore more Functional Business Components.
When browsing the Solution Composer I couldn't discover any Enterprise Service that uses Service Operations of more than one Functional Component.
Here's my question: Does anyone know an Enterprise Service  described in the Solution Composer which uses Service Operations of several Functional Business Components? If there aren't any, why?
    Regards,
    Sebastian

    Sebastian,
I haven't looked through the entire set of preview services, but most of what I have seen is consistent with what you are describing. I think the short answer is the ESA preview system is really a pre-release of the intial ESR which itself is essentially an extension of XI's integration repository. These are basically the finer grained object and interface level services.
SAP should be releasing some significant content updates to this ESR after NW2004S goes GA later this year. More importantly the next edition of the ESR tied to the BPP release will greatly expand on the scope including containing the more complex service defintions and process models which cut across components that you are looking for.

  • Business Component views in PLSQL

    Hello,
We are using ADF for developing a new application. We are using Business component views(BCPs) which are written in PLSQL using instead of triggers.
. I searched the internet for some examples but I did not find any, all BCPs seem to be in Java. I wanted to know if you know of any website where I can find some examples of BCP views in PLSQL using instead of triggers.
    Thanks a lot.

    Frank
    Hi Frank,
Thanks for your reply. I am sorry I should have made my question more clearer. BCP is a term which we keep using in our project , it means Business Component Views. And this is a view created on the database side much like our traditional views. ADF or the user interface inserts into the database through this view. You are right ADF does not bind to PLSQL directly so all this is being handled at the user interface level but for the final insert into the database views, its being done using the Buisiness component views.
So do u have any examples which use this approach.
    Thanks a ton !!

  • Sun Certified Business Component Developer (SCBCD)

The Sun Certified Business Component Developer (SCBCD) certification targets information regarding Java components related to distributed applications, specifically Enterprise Java Beans (EJBs). To achieve this certification, the candidate must pass a computer-based test available world-wide at Prometric test centers.
SCBCD 1.4 exam covers Java2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) version 1.3 code, including EJB version 2.0.
As of 2008, the SCBCD covers the Java2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) version 5 code, corresponding to EJB version 3.0.
The pre-requisite for this certification is that the candidate should be a Sun Certified Programmer for Java 2 Platform (any edition).
SCBCD for J2EE version 1.3 is now no longer offered (starting February 2008). However, the upgrade exam from SCBCD for J2EE version 1.3 to J2EE version 5 is still available.
310-090:Sun Certified Business Component Developer for J2EE1.3
    It comes from blog.killtest.com

    Team,
#1: I understand that this is Sun's Training / learning / Certification forum, which I believe is a good place to ask such a question. I believe the answer would be beneficial to a few more people than me.
    #2
I do understand the true nature of the examine. Application Design, Patterns, UML - an Architects view of a project. But the test requirements also states a few item that differ in EJB 3.0 over EJB 1.1, 2.0, 2.1 - for instance::
    Section 4: Enterprise JavaBeans Technology
    * List the required classes/interfaces that must be provided for an EJB technology.
    * Distinguish Session and Entity beans.
    * Recognize appropriate uses for Entity, Stateful Session, and Stateless Session beans.
    * State benefits and costs of Container Managed Persistence.
    * State the transactional behavior in a given scenario for an enterprise bean method with a specified transactional deployment descriptor.
    * Identify costs and benefits of using an intermediate data-access object between an entity bean and the data resource.
Section 5: Enterprise JavaBeans Container Model
    * Explain how the EJB container does lifecycle management and has the capability to increase scalability.
I have recently passed the Sun Certified Business Component Developer (SCBCD), and work in an EJB 3.0 environment. I wish to the certification to reflect the current technology.
If there is someone more appropriate to ask or place to ask, please direct me to the resource. Thank you.

  • JDeveloper 3.0 business component WebDB

Is it possible to build a web site with Jdeveloper 3.0 using business component and WebDB 2.2 or higher
    thanks

    Hi,
JDeveloper 3.0's Business Components for Java and WebDB are two different technologies. WebDB generates server-side PL/SQL packages that dynamically render HTML web pages based on database tables, stored procedures, etc.
JDeveloper 3.0's Business Components for Java framework is a pure Java way to write middle-tier application logic for Java Applications or applets, or for JSPs or servlets. You can deploy the Business Components for Java to Oracle8i and an EJB or CORBA object, locally to the file system, or to Visibroker.
You could certainly have the two technologies existing in the same database and have BC4J-based applications available from a website developed with WebDB as just straight links, but we do not support building WebDB components against the Business Components for Java framework. Building a JSP Web Application using the JDeveloper 3.0 wizards is the closest thing in terms of having an HTML front-end.
Please let me know if I've answered or misunderstood your question.

  • Moving a business component to a business component package URGENT

    Hi there,
Aim: I want to use one the attributes from an existing EO, by creating a VO which points to the EO.
Procedure taken: I've downloaded the EO.class and EO.xml file from the database to my local machine. I've opened the EO.class and EO.xml file within jdeveloper and it automatically adds it to my project path (not business component package). I've shown the dependencies of the two files and thus know which business component package (path) they belong to. I've created a business component package which is the same (path) as the one shown through dependency.
Problems: I try to move the EO.class and EO.xml file to business component package created but it won't move. I want to create a VO pointing to the EO but if the EO is within the project path and not a business component package it won't let me refer to it.
Question: How can I add the EO to the business component package?
    Thanks in advance

If this is the same issue as this thread, then please follow the discussion there.

  • How do I insert/Delete/Update a row to the DB Table from Business Component Browser

I am using the wizard and created a project containing Business component which contain some table.
When I run the project I could see "Oracle Business Component Browser(local)" and when I select some table from "View Object Member" I get a window displaying all the field of that table and I could browse all the info.
My Problem is when I try to insert a new record/Delete the existing record or update some record it never gets reflected to the DataBase.
When I try to insert a new row I did save and there was a dialog box displayed saying "Transaction ID is 1". But finally It's not reflected in the Database.
Can some one guide me how can I do insert/delete/update operation from Oracle Component Business Browser so that the changes reflect to the Original DataBase.
    Thanks in advance
    Jitendra

    Jitendra,
This may be a problem of caching. If you do an update, insert, or delete, and do not receive an error, then the transaction should indeed be posted.
I assume you are hitting the Save icon after your changes if you are getting a transaction ID. Are you checking for the updates through another session (i.e. SQL*Plus), or do you then requery the View Object in the tester? Do you exit the tester and come back in and not see the changes?
