Hi Experts,
I need use Business Content Templates for the query background.Here My problem is once I install the templates and start using those templates for my query output those woould be saved in favourties. My doubt is how to make those templates for the users also.

Lenght of activation job only depends on number of objects in data flow.
When using "In data flow before" for instance, obviously activation will take a lot longer.

when installing business content it is showing level 1, 2 ...
what does it mean. how many levels are there.
How to know the infoobject name of a field. for example what will be the business content name of a particular infoobject.
normally how long it will take to install. whether to install in background is advisable.

SAP delivered the object in "D" version and we need to activate those as per our project need.
Now Business content can be installed as (assuming you are doingfor CUBE):
1) Only necessary object (this will insalled only infoobjects, atteributes which are comprosing of cube)
2) data flow before (will installed Update rule, transfer struc, comm. struc, infosources, and so on)
3) data flow afterwords (will installed queries, reports, templates, workbooks, multiprovider if any.)
4) data flow before and afterword (this installed step 3 & 4 combined)
Now level depicts the kind of hierrarchy under which that objectcan be located. Ex: you are installing perticuler Infoobject, so the level will be kind of Infoarea --> Info Catalog --> infoobject.

In the main menu of the SAP Business Information Warehouse select BW Administration ->Administrator Workbench.
Select the Business Content function area using the corresponding pushbutton in the left-hand navigation window or by Jump -> Install Business Content
With the pushbutton Navigation Window On/Off on the application toolbar in the Administrator Workbench, you can show or hide the left-hand navigation window. We assume that the navigation window remains hidden in the following section.
If you want to assign source systems, select Assignment Source System. The Select Source System as Default dialog window appears.
Select one or more source systems by setting the corresponding indicators in the Default Assignment column.
The assignment of source systems is only relevant for transfer rules, file DataSources and InfoPackages. If there is more than one source system, only those objects assigned to the specified source system are collected for the transfer. Objects that have not been assigned to the specified source systems are ignored.
If you do not select a source system, all source systems are automatically assigned.
You can subsequently change the selection you made using Source System Assignment .
Change the required settings in the following selection list:
Grouping
Choose the objects that you want the system to consider. The groupings summarize all the objects of an area.

Only necessary objects (standard setting)
Only those objects that are really necessary for the action, that is, the transport of the selected objects, are taken into account (minimal selection).
In data flow before
All objects are collected that submit data to a collected object.

Select the object(s) you want to transfer in the central screen area and transfer them into the right-hand Collected Objects screen area by drag and drop.
Using Search for Object, you can also search for objects by a string (for example, 0CUST) or by pattern (for example, 0CUST_*B).
You can display a value help for every object type: By double clicking on Select Objects in the tree structure of the corresponding object type, the screen Value Help for Metadata appears. Select the required objects. Choose Transfer selections.
You can only use Business Content DataSources of a source system for transferring data in BW, when you have transferred these in their active forms and then copied them into the BW system.
The system displays the selected object(s) and all dependent objects in the Collected Objects screen area. To reduce the time taken to access the objects when wanting to use them again, the collected objects are stored by default in the Repository Cache.
When transferring the objects to the Collected Objects screen area, the objects are added at the same time to the tree structure of the corresponding object type in the central screen area and are saved for the respective user. This personal object list is available every time the program is restarted.
To remove objects from the personal list, select the object in question and choose Remove Object from Display via the context menu or via .
Objects that are listed in several tree structures are only displayed as changeable the first time they appear. Each time they are listed again, they are highlighted in gray and are not ready for input.
Check the following columns in the Collected Objects screen area:
The following Business Content objects are highlighted in the Transfer column by default:
Objects transferred for the first time
Objects delivered again in a new version from Business Content.
When the SAP delivery version and the active version can be compared, a check box is shown in the column Compare (X) or Copy.
There is a check mark in this checkbox by default. In this case, your version is compared with the new SAP delivery version and complimented.
If you remove the indicator then the new SAP delivery version is copied in its entirety.
Date symbol: The object is already available in an active version. However, the active version belongs to an older Content Release. We recommend that you adopt the new version
Gray Selection : There is an active version in the system, but the object status is given as inactive. The object has to be subsequently edited.
In the Active Version Available column, there are the following display options:
Indicator
Meaning
No Indicator
The object is not available in an active version.
The object is available in an active version. You can decide whether to retain this version or adopt again.
Change the required settings in the following selection list :
Transfer Type
Information
Simulate transfer
A test is made to see if errors are likely to occur during the transfer. The most important objects can be checked in the simulation. However, this does not include all dependent objects Therefore, only use the simulation as an orientation help to be able to recognize errors and remove them.
Transfer
The selected objects are transferred immediately.
Transfer in background
The selected objects are transferred in the background.
Transfer and transport
The selected objects are transferred immediately and then written to a transport request in the connection.
We recommend Transfer in the Background, because transferring a large number of objects and especially changing already active objects can take up a lot of time.
You can find out if errors have occurred during the installation of Business Content from a log, which you can request using the Log pushbutton. Repair the errors in the respective maintenance transaction. Try to transfer the Business Content again.

How to activate the Info object catalog in Business content
Hi,
While trying to activate the Info object catalog, I found that some of the info objects under this catalog was earlier activated by some other developer. I brought this catalog (0SALES_CHA01) over to the Business content activation panel ( with only 'necessary object settings ) and all the info objects that also came along were de-selected since I didn't want to install those again). When I tried to install these I get an error indicating that some of the info object in question are not already active.. and ultimately the catalog doesnt get activated , although more than half of its infoobjects are already active under the '0CHANOTASSIGNED' node.
Please let me know whether I can get only the Catalog activated without getting any existing activated info object merged or installing those which are not already activated.

Just drag the infoobject catalog as u did earlier to the left in the bus cont installation screen with "only necessary object" option.
Dont try to deselect any object. Go ahead with the default options and install in background.
Now you can check for the available objects in the catalog. if you have some objects missing, and available in unassigned node,double click on the newly installed infoobject catalog, select the required objects (which are not yet assigned to this) from the left side and bring them to the right side.
this will make the unassigned objects assigned to the required catalog.

When i try to install the objects frok the business content, the job is getting cancelled and following msg is displayed in the SM37.

I know this error comes due to lack of resource in the system.
My question here is how do i know what are the resources tat system is using and in which transaction code can i check it.

Copy Update Rule from Business Content
Hi All,
Currently I have activated some standard BI Content E.g. InfoCube 0FIAR_C03, DSO 0FIAR_O03, InfoSource 0FI_AR_4 and all the corresponding update rules.
Now I have copied both InfoCube and DSO into another customized version E.g. ZAR_C03 and ZAR_O03. I managed to copy the same update rule from InfoSource 0FI_AR_4 to ZAR_O03 using the template but I don't have the option of copying the same update rule from ZAR_O03 to ZAR_C03 using the same update rule of 0FIAR_O03 to 0FIAR_C03.
I know I have the choice to manually re-create all the details but is there any other workaround?
Please read through carefully my question. I have seen some forum asking to load data from 0FIAR_O03 to then ZAR_O03 then so forth.
Purpose of doing the above method is because I want to remain the business content as what it is and just to copy it to Z version for customization.

Strangely, the control record is blank. I looked at the XSLT program, it is coded that way. I do not understand the reason. Is the error pointing to the control record?

BI 7 Activate Business Content Best Practice?

Could you share your experience on how to activate business content in BI 7. In 3.x, I used to activate business content based on infosource then crate ods and infocube based on in infosource. Now in BI 7 infosource is no longer necessary. Please share your thoughts of best practice on activate business content in BI 7.

To actiavte the objects in the BI content u can select which ever object u want and then select the collection mode as all the objects before and after....
this will ideally activate all the objects that are required for the functionin of the object that you have selected .......
In simpler way....
RSA1-> Business Contents-> Select your objects-> On the right hand side, select "automatic collection" under "collection mode" and Select "before and after data flow" -> Right Click the selected objects on the left hand side and right click -> Insert Objects for collection-> Once the selected objects comes to the right hand side, select "install" and click "install in background".

Error in Installing the Business Content for 2LIS_06_INV data source

We are trying to install the Business content for 2lis_06_inv. When we replicate the datasource, we are not seeing it in 3.x version. It is only vailable in 7 version. There is no transformation available in Business content for this data source. Please let me know how we need to proceed with this installation. Should we install the 7.0 flow or 3.x flow? 1. Goto RSA1.
2. Select the BI content.
3. Select the Grouping as' In Dataflow before and after'
Then,you can get the data flow which are haveing the DS/TR/Data targets.
4. Select the Install by setting the 'Install in background'.

I am trying to use the Pages business card template and background image function of pages to create a business card that has an image on every business card on the sheet. I can't seem to find out how to do that. Can anyone help?

JimHere is the basic method of having white text on a colored background: Insert a shape. While selected go to the Graphic Inspector and select a Fill color. Re-proportion the shape as needed. Insert a text box (or boxes) and type your text. Drag it (them) over the shape and change the color of the text to white (or any other color you desire). Select all and group. Duplicate as needed. Apply this procedure to your business cards or anywhere else.
Another method for applying a colored background to a text box: select the text box and Fill it from the Graphics Inspector and adjust the Inset Margin in the Text Inspector.

Finding data in a datasource/ Business Content Query

can you help me with this one -- background to this problem is shown below:
Question:
1.
No data was found in my infocube so I went o R3 to see if the datasource had any data in it by running rsa3 but found no datasource 2LIS_02_S012, although rsa5 shows that it exists. What could be happening?

Also, how do I see the queries which come with the InfoCube? When I go into BEx, I see the dimensions to create my own queries, but where are the ones which comes with the Business content for me to use?
Background to Questions----
I was experimenting with an MM InfoCube 0PUR_C01, and my research indicated that the datasource which supplies this this infocube with data is 2LIS_02_S012. The notes on this datasource indicates it could be extracted as a standard extraction or LO. I did standard, rsa5, rsa6, etc...replicated in BW, etc.
I later created and InfoCube zpur_c01 and copied from 0pur_co1, etc. ...then later created and infopackage and loaded data into the InfoCube for the purposes of reporting.Hi Caud,
To answer your first question.
- The datasource 2lis_02_s012 that you have seen in rsa5 is in the delivered version you need to transfer this into the active version. Select the datasource in rsa5 and click the transfer datasource button. After you have done this you will see the datasource in rsa6.
Also since this datasource is a Logistics Info Structure the LIS reporting should have been activated and in use.
For your second question
- If you have already identified a standard business content query that you want to use through the metadata repository, you can activate the report through the business content tab in rsa1.

Business Content Questions - Urgent
Can you please help me with the following questions...
1. I installed business content for CRM Sales Activities. I was also successful in loading transaction data. There is some master data that also needs to be loaded, but many of the master data datasources are not available when I checked RSA5 in the CRM system. How should I approach this problem?
2. When installing business content, if "match (X) or copy" is selected and if we select background installation, will the system overwrite the objects or will it leave it in the existing version?
3. When activating business content reports, I get the error "BEx transport request xx is not suitable or not available". What could this mean?
4. After development, do I simply gather all the objects and transport them to QA/PRD or do I have to activate business content in QA/PRD systems also?

Hello to all,
I have a problem while installing Business content.
As per SAP Documentation...I selected the Cube and selected Before and After grouping option. Ex: 0CSAL_C01.
I checked the dependent objects under Info Objects for 0CSAL_C01. For some of the objects it's selected MATCH (to prevent overwrite and this is set as default).
Then I installed in back ground mode option.
Once the installation is done the 0COSTCENTER is overwritten (even if I selected Match option and it de-selected Install).
Can any one please explain me why this is happened? Any documentation on it?
Does background mode not recommended? Does it always overwrite???

SAP recommends you use the Install in Background option, because installing a large number of objects can take a long time. Modifying objects that are already active can take an especially long time. Make sure that when you install objects in the background, the versions are not matched; the delivery version is always installed. They are not matched against any available customer versions.
Does it mean that even if I select match, will it overwrite?

Business Content, CCA - Incomplete Activation
Activated Cost Center Accounting Business Content of BW 3.3 without errors.
However, some objects are not available - in particular, 0COSTELMNT.
From RSA1 / Workbench, InfoObjects tab in Modeling, search does not find 0COSTELMNT.
However, RSA1 / Workbench, Source Systems tab in Modeling, after requesting Object OverView - 0COSTELMNT is reflected as activated. Also, from RSA1 / Workbench, InfoSources tab in Modeling for 0CO_OM_CCA_1, 0COSTELMNT is reflected in Transfer and Communication Structures. Furthermore, 0COSTELMNT can be drilled down into / opened for review.
Failure of 0COSTELMNT to completely activate prevents activation of other objects, including CCA_1 InfoCube.
Have attempted to re-activate total CCA Business Content in both foreground and background, without success.
Have attempted to re-activate 0COSTELMNT in both foreground and background without success.
Have attempted to force re-activation by specifically selecting Install option in Business Content - overriding Match status reflected, again without success.
Has anybody else encountered this or a similar problem ?
Any ideas how to achieve complete activation of InfoObject 0COSTELMNT, as well as related objects ?
