  • "Network host busy" error

Hi, everyone. I have trawled this discussion list and followed all the advice available to no avail. Any help would certainly be appreciated.
    The background is as follows:
MacBook Pro, 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 duo, 2GB RAM, currently running OSX 10.6.2. Software up to date. Previously on OSX 10.4.11 until 4 weeks ago. Printing to a networked HP 4100 with a fixed IP address in the office worked fine until last week, when a "Network host busy error, trying again in 30 seconds" error arose. Printing from the other workstations (iMacs on 10.6.2) on the network continues to proceed normally. Steps I have taken include deleting the HP4100 print queue and re-installing (several times) as IP>HPJetDirect socket to 192.168.1.100. Clearly the printer is online (it says so) and is identified as the correct printer driver is selected automatically (HP LaserJet 4100 series v 3010.107) and all the configurable options are correctly selected (trays 2,3 & 4, envelope feeder and duplex option) and toner supply levels are correctly read. Still get network host busy error. Rebooted the printer. No avail. Rebooted the router. No avail. Reinstalled HP printer drivers from here: http://support.apple.com/downloads/#printer%20drivers%20mac%20os%20x%20v10.6. No avail. Have also reset the printing system (losing all the other print queues in the process!) to no avail. Checked the printer setup on the iMacs that can print, and it is identical to that which I am attempting to install. Have I missed something? Anyone with any clues, please?

    Hi there,
If you have your HP printer queue configured exactly the same as other Mac's that are working fine, and with all the steps you have taken thus far, then I can only suggest that you either have a network issue or something blocking the path.
So first thing is to check that you are set to the same subnet as the other Mac's. This can be confirmed via the Network Utility under the Info pane. You may have to change the drop menu from Ethernet (en0) to Airport (en1) depending on what you use. Typically the first three sets of numbers of your IP address is your subnet, while the last number is your network address. So, based on the printers address of 192.168.1.100, your Mac should have a subnet of 192.168.1 and a network address other than 100.
If the IP address for your Mac is set to the same subnet as the HP then while Network Utility is still open, select the Ping tab, enter the IP address of 192.168.1.100, set the number of Pings to 4 and press the Ping button. You should get a response from the printer.
If you do get a response then it is safe to assume that the network setup on your Mac is okay. At this stage I would check that your Firewall is disabled (located in System Preferences > Security).
If the firewall is not enabled then my last suggestion is to create another printer queue to the HP, this time selecting IP > LPD for the protocol. Since HP wrote Socket then it is odd that it would not be working, but a network host busy would indicate that the Mac cannot either communicate with the IP address or the Port of the selected IP address. By changing the protocol from HP Socket to LPD you are basically setting the Mac to connect on port 515 instead of 9100.
Note that if the other Mac's show the print queue URL as "socket://192.168.1.100/" then they are using HP Jetdirect also so it would make no sense that your connection to the same port would fail. But it can't hurt trying an alternate protocol when you have tried everything else...
    HTH and reply if needed.

  • "Server Busy" Error in Windows 8.1

Since yesterday, I have been unable to use Dreamweaver due to a "Server Busy" error coming up when I start the program.  I have installed the available update through CC and am still etting the error, and all documentation on said error is for earlier versions of Dreamweaver and Windows.
I am unable to use the program and need a resolution to this as quickly as possible.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

I believe I have found the solution.  I uninstalled Norton Anti-Virus (after it said to have failed the latest update) and now the error is gone.
Norton came pre-installed on my laptop, yet the two programs had no problem until last week.

  • How I fixed the 'network host busy" error

I've been down for a day solving the "network host busy' error.
First, I had fits trying to hook up this HP to my system. Here's the thread on that:
    http://forums.techguy.org/networking/858081-laserjet-4500-mac-osx-10-a.html
Once all that was done, it was working.
The system was off and sometimes unplugged over the course of the evening.
I could not get it to work again.
It turned out that somehow during the course of events, the ip number of the printer had changed. I printed out the configuration page directly from the printer's configuration menu, and reset the ip address to match the new one.
Protocol in this case was HP Jet Direct socket.
Hope that helps someone out there. It looks like there are a lot of people tearing their hair out over this message and that there is no one solution.

I just found a solution to this problem and thought I would post it here, too.
    I'm using a HP Photosmart C7280 with 10.6.1
Ever since updating to Snow Leopard, I kept receiving the "Network host busy" message. Today, I thought I would try running the network wizard feature on the printer itself, and after the printer connected to my router and I entered the password, the problem fixed itself. No more error message.
I'm not sure if this will work for everyone, but it did for me. Such an easy solution for such a headache-inducing problem.

  • IP Printing Network Host Busy Error

I have a Dell color laser on our Novell LAN that I've always been able to print to from my PowerBook using the printer's IP address. Today I found a new PPD for that printer and installed it, now I can't print. I get this error:
"Network host 'nameofhost' is busy; will retry in 30 seconds . . ."
I can ping the printer and it's there. I can check the supply levels and it shows the correct levels. If I turn the printer off, I can no longer ping it or show the levels, so I know it's connecting correctly. I put the old PPD back in and I still get the same network busy error. I get the same error no matter which application I print from. Everything is set up the same as before, and it's setup the same as all the other printers I can print to. I can print to other printers on the network using the same method. I can print to this printer using my Windows PC and it works fine, so I know the printer/queue itself is not down.
If I had any hair, I would pull it out.
PowerBook G4 17 1.67GHz 1.5Gb RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Novell LAN printing via IP, Dell 5100cn Color Laser using correct PPD

    Greg:
You gave me the hint that fixed it. I was setting up the new printer in SysPrefs using IPP protocol, but the printer was set up to accept LPD protocol. I changed it and now it works great. Thanks a bunch!!

  • "Server Busy" Error in Lightroom 4.1. 4.4 won't download/open properly

When I try to import new photos I get a "server busy" error in Lightroom 4.1.  I have to click cancel/reset/cancel/reset for about a minute to get just one photo to import.  Completely unacceptable if trying to import multiple photos.  I downloaded 4.4 most recently in hopes of fixing this buy, but although it downloads, once downloading Lightroom, hoping when I re-installed it would automatically accept updates, but that didn't work.  I still get server busy error.  My Lightroom is completely useless right now.  I'm working off a Windows system.

OMG... I'm such a nit-wit!!  I switched the setting in my camera to try something and forgot to swith it back!
I've been digging through this for more that an hour and never bothered to check the file setting.
    Thanks for the suggestion!

  • Want to pop-up business errors to user

Hi, using struts framework, i am displaying some business errors in a JSP in tabular format. I want to change this and show the errors to the user in MS word document which opens in i'net explorer. User gets a pop-up to open or save it.
Please advice some approach to this.

My honest advice is: don't bother. This is an incredibly unusual way of doing things, and although there are people who argue that "breaking the rules is good" and that just because something is unusual, doesn't mean we shouldn't do it, one thing you don't want to do is have a UI behave in an unusual manner. Nobody expects a web app to behave like this, and if yours does, all they'll remember is that it's awkward to use. This is a user interface, your job when building a UI is to consider the user, first and foremost. Don't surprise them and don't make them do unnecessary tasks. People won't want to have to open Word to see information they could previously just see on a web page. Leave it as it is, and if you want to, provide a link that generates a Word document (or a PDF, or whatever) from the data on the web page, should your users want it

  • Rebel XS busy error

For as long as I can remember, my Rebel XS has occationally given me a busy error in the viewfinder. It used to not be that often, but seems to have incresed in frequency. My dad has the same camera, but never has gotten such an error, nor have others I've met with Rebels, so I'm wondering if there's something wrong with mine. I do find that it does this more when I'm in dimmer situations, but seems like it's becoming more sensitive. It's almost like it's taking a really long time to think about what settings to shoot with or whether or not it needs the flash. I always shoot in auto mode and use the AF function on the lense, as do others I've compared experiences with. Wondering if there's anything I can do to fix the problem quickly myself or if I just got a bum model and need to get it repaired professionally or replaced???

Try his memory card in your camera and see if you still get the busy signal. You know he has a good one!

  • "Resource Busy" error during image creation, using disk utility when booting up from installation DVD

Hi all, first post to this community, wish all well
I have a MBP which is more than three years old, installed with OSX Leopard 10.6. Recently the MBP failed to to start and I tried to follow some articles online, including some from this community, to repair my disk, and more importantly, to backup data on the startup disk. But it does not work quite well so I try to seek some help here.
What I have done is to bootup with the installation DVD, try to verify and repair the disk using disk utility, which tells me it can't repair and recommend to backup, erase and reinstall. Am fine with this recommendation but now the problem is on the backup part. There are two partitons on this 500GB hitachi SATA disk. One is 300G which is for OSX itself, and the other 200G was partitioned for Time Machine. The repair failure is on the OSX partition which contains most of the recent data that I want to backup/restore. And unfortunately the Time Machine backup was stopped about two month ago, for some stupid decision I have made , while I am hoping to recover some data for the past month.
Currently the SMART status of the whole disk is verified, the OSX partition is unmounted with no details in the Available, Used, Number of Files, etc. From what I have researched (correct me if I am wrong), I highlight the OSX partition from the list on the left, click 'New Image' button on top, and select the destination to try to create an image of the current partition. But regardless of my desintation (Time Machine partition, or external USB drive), the imaging process always failed with Resource Busy error. Some online search suggest that the partition must be in unmount status but seems it does not apply to this case.
Would be really appreciated if anyone can give me some advice on what's the 'resource busy' error mean, how to backup the OSX partition, or what are the other possible alternatives.

Very poor idea to keep the Time Machine backup file on the internal hard drive. They should always be put on an external drive. As when the internal fails you lose everything. Which is what I suspect has happened.
More then likely your internal drive is failing. the only options to get a new internal drive and a SATA to USB adapter. Install the new drive inside the system abd install OS X on it. Then once that is finished and you are booting from it connect the old drive to the system with the SATA to USB adapter and copy your files off the old drive. That is if you can.

I have other office products on here including:
    SharePoint Designer 2010
    SharePoint Designer 2013
    Microsoft PowerBI Designer Preview
and this is installed on Win 8.1 Enterprise
Kind of stumped what is causing this... I see KB2920798  mentions this error message is now added when cant open a document due to a mix of click-to-run and MSI install for office.  I only have click to run for Office 2013 and the MSIs are only for
addons in excel (power query) and the additional Microsoft Software...
Anyone have ideas what is causing this and how to resolve?
I just finished applying March 2015 C2R updated on Office and the same issue recurred.  This time I simply rebooted and it resolved.  My best guess is it has something to do with a locked file that can't be updated but the Office Update installer
    doesn't prompt to reboot.

I have the same problem. But I have Czech versions of the Word and OneDrive for Business ("OneDrive pro firmy").
I do not have the SharePoint Designer nor update KB2020798. I received KB2920746
on 11th February (plus other updates for Office, but any other for OneDrive for Business). Anyway,
uninstall of the KB2920746 doesn't help.

  • Free/Busy Error

Sun ONE Calendar Server 5.1.1 hf 1.16
    Sync tool 1.1 patch 2
I tried to configure Free/Busy option, by putting the Search URL as :
    http://<servername>/get_freebusy.wcap?fmt-out=text/calendar&tzid=timezone&mail=%NAME%@%SERVER%
However when I check on the user availability through outlook, it prompts and error:
An error occurred reading Internet free/busy data. General failure. The URL was ....
When I cut the URL and past on the browser, it said unauthorised, any idea ?

Yep, indeed it does, except the password works when carrying out an autodiscover test, when testing free/busy that error appears. Lookups for free/busy work from on-premise to cloud, cloud to on-premise does not work unless you explicitly allow permissions
on a user basis. The on-premise Exchange 2010 SP3 environment is using an external wildcard cert and thought this could be causing the issue, may consider updating to SAN based. What do you think?

The mapping definition contains elements or attributes that do not exist in the changed structure, or functions that were changed in a function library. The relevant entries will be deleted.

    1. We have applied the latest patch to E-filing GB. This did not help solve the problem.
    2. Tested the Message Mapping. No error at Message Mapping.
Is there anything we are missing out on?? Please suggest.

  • Is it possible to send a instance to error hospital for business errors?

I have a business cenario where if an error is returned from an external service the first time it will automatically retry. The second time it will need to be sent for manual resolution which I was thinking of doing in the error hospital (human intervention) does anyone know if it is possible to send an instance for human-intervention from within the process rather from the fault policies?

We have an instance where sometimes we are sending embedded tiff images to an external service and if the image is corrupt we need to allow the users to terminate the process. Unfrotunately there are no capabilities to send any notifications (email/sms/fax/voicemail) and need to notify the user of the corrupt image and to terminate the process. We could use a worklist task and but the business have defined this as a support team responsibility and want to use the same manual recovery console for all errors. (activities tab)
