Business logic services generate documentation

Hi,
RE: Business logic services > generate documentation
xMII generates transaction documentation for small transactions but fails to do so with large transactions....nothing is returned.  I am currently using V 11.5.1 b63. Has anyone experienced this problem?
Tom

Hi,
I am trying to find the note mentioned in the thread:
"See note 960362, this outlines the steps necessary to increase the memory size the logic editor will allocate".
I tried the search feature. As well as some hunting around on the SAP site but no luck. Can someone post the URL.
Thanks
Tom

  • Problem with Business Logic Services Logic Editor

    Hi,
I am trying to go to Logic Editor under Business Logic Services. I'm getting error that "Unable to launch xMII"
Is there any java related problem in my machine?
    Regards,
    Amalesh

    Amalesh,
What version of xMII are you using 12.0 by chance.  If so goto the Java Web Start -> File -> Preferences -> and set your proxy to "None".  I would not recommend reinstalling Java as this will not solve your problem and if you are on xMII 12.0, the recommended version is 1.4.2_13 as a minimum.

What version of xMII and what version of the client Sun JRE?
Also make sure you have the Java Web Start preferences set to not use a Proxy on the General tab.

  • Business Logic Service

    hello friends,
    how to use bls?
what are the   Pre requirements for using BLS?
please give any example for BLS application?
    - Murali

    Murali,
Business Logic Editor is the place where you can design all your application logics in xMII.I advice you to go through the help documentation to get an idea about it
    http://localhost/LighthammerCMS/Help/SAP_xMII_Help.htm
BLS has a set of action blocks for designing your logics. Transactions built using BLS can be exposed as web service for external use.
And to answer your other two questions..
I'm not sure about what you mean by pre requisites..BLS comes along with xMII and there are no separate prerequisites for it...
For working with it I would recommend basic knowledge on xml, xpath expressions...
BLS as such cannot create a whole application, but together with Query and display templates, an application can be built...The application can be built using  front page and on click on a button you can call a transaction that gives a table of values that are displayed using  Query and display templates
Hope this helps.. Reward points if you find them useful

    Ajitha

  • JSF(front WebGUI)+Spring(Business Logic)+Hibernate(Persistence service)??

To implement a well designed product with module decoupling, some friends suggest me to use the following architecture:
    JSF(front WebGUI)+Spring(Business Logic)+Hibernate(Persistence service)?
I was puzzled that whether Spring needed or not??What's especial feature does Spring own that JSF does not have? What's the benefit of integration of JSF and Spring?
Your reply will be appreciated greatly.
    Thanks a lot!

Using Spring provides some major benefits; among these are:
    - Spring provides an abstraction layer for easy integration of different persistence layers (e.g. Hibernate, which comes integrated out of the box) and for easy database access
    - It provides an easy-to-use AOP framework based on dynamic proxying and byte code enhancing via CGLIB
    - IMHO most important: Spring provides an Inversion of Control container (see http://martinfowler.com/articles/injection.html) which enables you to remove references to implementation classes from your code and thus facilitates component based architectures.
By the way, we developed a Spring/JSF integration solution (for source code, documentation and an example application see http://sourceforge.net/projects/jsf-spring). It wraps the JSF context into a Spring context and thus merges them. This way, the JSF context becomes part of Spring and vice versa. This is done in a implementation independent way so that it can be used with any JSF implementation.

  • Problem in creating a callable object of type Business Logic

    Hi SDN,
I am trying to create a callable object of type Business Logic in CE.
When I give all information and click Next, I get this error message.
Error while loading configuration dialog: Failed to create delegate for component com.sap.caf.eu.gp.ui.co.CExpConfig. (Hint: Is the corresponding DC deployed correctly? Does the DC contain the component?)
Can anybody help me out with this problem.
    Regards,
    Sumangala

    Hi.
I'm having the same problem as Senthil in NW2004s SP15 with my application service and methods not showing up in the Callable Object wizard for Composite Application Services after I choose the Endpoint.  The only application name that shows up in the wizard is caf.tc, and the only service names that show up for it are LDDataAccessor, Metadata, and PropPermissionService.
My IDE is on one machine and the application server I deploy to is located on a different machine.  My endpoint to the remote application server looks to be correctly configured.  The Composite Application Service seems to be deployed properly as I'm able to see it and test that it works in the Web Services Navigator <http://remotehost:50000/wsnavigator/>
My deployed application service is a remote enabled service and is also web services enabled as well.
I'm not sure if this is relevant, but I noticed that the generated Java code does not create any remote EJB interfaces (only home and local interfaces were generated).
Something else I noticed is that when I proceed to the External Service Configuration -> Business Entities screen <http://remotehost:50000/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/cafUIconfiguration>, I only see three business entities displayed, and the following error message is displayed: "Corrupt metadata has been detected. This may prevent some objects from being displayed. Check the server log for more details."  I was unable to find anything in the instance log files.  Is the error message indicative of the problem?
I am developing locally without a NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI) in place.
I'm wondering if the credentials specified in the endpoint require any special roles or privileges.
Senthil, do any of these additional descriptions apply to you as well?

  • UCES Business logic / Implementation question

    Hello,
I hope this is the right forum for this, I found nothing relevant about it with the search...
I hope you can help me or perhaps at least point me in the right direction or give me some links.
It's really hard to find anything substantial about UCES on the net, so ANY help is greatly appreciated!!!
    Okay here we go:
I have a requirement for a client who wants a Web 2.0 Portal with the Business logic implemented with UCES (Utility Customer E-Services)
What I now (for a start) need to know is:
    1.
How is business functionality in UCES implemented? With Java or with ABAP? Does anyone know this? Are both approaches possible?
    2.
How does a possible interface between UCES business logic and the frontend look like?
    - JSP -> EJB -> Java Connector -> ABAP?
    - JSP -> EJB ?
    - JSP -> EJB -> ABAP over Web Services ?
    - or other ?
Like you see, I'm really just trying to get a grip on the basics, a starting point from which to find further information. So really, anyone who has experience with this, please answer, it's greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ralf

  • ABAP List Faxing using BCS  method ( Business communication service )

    Experts,
I have a requirement where we are faxing the ABAP list as it gets generated .
I am using NEW-PRINT ON and NEW-PRINT OFF , to get the ABAP list in a spool request , and then  get the spool contents using function module : 'RSPO_RETURN_SPOOLJOB'
I then use  Class / methods provided by Business communication service  , such as :
cl_cam_address_bcs=>create_fax_address  ,to send this spool content to Fax gateway  .
My fax goes , but the fax output  list is in X_65_255  format,  whereas i want the fax output to be in X_65_132 ..
My  REPORT  statement does have X_65_132  as line count / line size BUT somehow the  Fax output does not take this list format  .. ANY IDEA's ????
    Would appreciate your reply .

    Naimesh,
I have passed page format  X_65_132  in GET_PRINT_PARAMETERS ,  in export paramter ' Layout '  ... See code below :
    write a list into spool
      call function 'GET_PRINT_PARAMETERS'
        exporting
          line_count = sy-linct
          line_size  = sy-linsz

          no_dialog   = 'X'
        importing
          out_parameters         = print_parameters
          valid                  = valid
        exceptions
          archive_info_not_found = 1 .
BUT still  the fax coming out of our fax machine is compressed  because i believe the outgoing fax is using  page format  X_65_255 .

  • How to Display Multiple Rows in Business Logic Editor

Hi Friends, I took the standard BAPI:   BAPI_MATERIAL_GETLIST and followed the SAP- xMII documentation. It is not showing any records. Does any one have good example. Please let me know.
If I run the same BAPI from R3 system, it is showing 7 records.
Can I display the data in Business Logic editor? Please help.

    Hi Dilip
I have gone through your post and I think that the info provided by yu is not sufficent to answer yur question exactly but i would suggest yu the following solutions :-
    1. It may be the case that yu are not looping on the Response XML from the BAPI. You need to loop on the repeating node of the Response XML of the BAPI and on each loop yu need to append the record read to a xMII Output XML document using Row structure. Finally Yu can assign the document to the Output variable.
    2. Check for the type of Output Variable. I guess that it's String type. In that case, convert it to xml type.
    Hope it helps.

  • Where is the best place to implement business logic in ADF application?

    I am using jdeveloper 11g R2 , JSF Facelet
Where is the best place to implement business logic in ADF application?
I mean something like service layer in Spring
    Appreciate your comments
    Regards
    Mohsen

Depends on what your logic does and what data it deals with, but in general business logic is in the ADF BC layer.
Some goes into entity objects - for things like attribute or row validation.
Some goes into view objects - for things like calculation.
Some goes into AM - for things like service methods for UI clients.

  • Best way to structure Business Logic

    Hi Experts,
I am using Web Dynpro for my front-end and application services for the back-end. Which of these is the recommended way to structure the layout of my business logic:
    1) Keep everything in the 'src' folder of the CAF ejbmodule. Structure through the use of packages.
    2) Create an external Java DC, keep all code in there and call the code from the application services. Structure code through both packages and the use of multiple DCs.
    3) Create a child Java DC in the CAF ejbmodule project, keep the code there. Structure code through both packages and the use of multiple DCs.
    4) Some other way which I do not know of???
I think that (2) is the best way to to this, but I'm not sure and I also don't know how to make the code in the Java DC accessible from the CAF in 7.1. In 7.0 one was required to assemble the Java DC into a J2EE Server Library project and then create the required dependencies. How does this work in 7.1?
    Thanks,
    JP

    Hi JP,
    > When you refer to "regular reference stuff" I take it

    > 'application-j2ee-engine.xml' file?
    Correct.

    > way in 7.1?
Hmm, I guess it would be a rather tough task to have a mapping between all classes (or even packages) and DCs. However it should be fairly intuitive to infer the DC from the class / package name. If still in doubt, you can search for its usage on help.sap.com - most probably you'll find the DC name as well therein.
    > Finally, how about Web Dynpro classes (like
    > com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.sal.um.api.IWDClientUser

    > they be accessed from Java DCs?
According to the <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/javadocs">NW public javadocs</a>, the classes in the com.sap.tc.webdynpro.* packages are "Services in the Web Dynpro runtime environment that can be called by custom coding in Web Dynpro applications", so they're not intended for general use in any type of app.

  • Business logic in EO, VO - design advice required

    Hi all,
I'm looking for some design advice on the best way to approach this issue - or in fact advice that I'm making an issue out of something where it doens't need to be !
Lets say I have a single entity object called UsersEO. I have two view objects called NewUserVO and ExistingUserVO. I use the NewUserVO just for inserting new records and the ExistingUserVO for modifying existing records. When users are editing existing users, I need to provide a checkbox that indicates that when the record is saved, their password needs to be re-generated and emailed out to the user.
I want to include the check of the "GeneratePassword" attribute while processing the rest of my user business logic, in the doDML method of UsersEOImpl. From here I will call a database procedure that handles changing the password and emailing the user.
Initially I created a transient attribute "GeneratePassword" in ExistingUserVO but then to access this from within the UsersEOImpl.doDML would require me getting the AM from the transaction, and getting the current row of the ExistingUserVO. I believe that this is bad practice to access a VO from within a EO ?
Is my only option here to create the transient attribute "GeneratePassword" on the UsersEO and then include in the ExistingUserVO but not the NewUserVO ? That way I can easily access the "GeneratePassword" attribute from with the doDML without have to accessing the VO.
If I have 10 different VO's that require different attributes, it just seems strange to add 10 attributes to the underlying EO and then only include the relevant entity attribute in each VO - or is this exactly what I should be doing ?
On a slightly different note, but similar theme - if I had a "VOTransaction" attribute in my EO and I included this in each VO created from the EO - how would I set different values in this attribute for each VO so that within the EOImpl I would know which VO was triggering the entity validation ??
Many thanks for your help !
    Cheers,
    Brent

How about creating a BaseVO which extends EO (including transient attributes for password change and voName/Type detail ) that provide a default value for voName/Type attribute and all other VO extending the BaseVO and overriding that attribute setter to specify the name/type?

  • Business logic in Database layer or in Middle layer.

I am converting my form 6i client server application to .net 3 tier web architecture application using oracle 10g database.
My application is a very data centric, millions of records calculations happen in many processes.
I have a problem while presenting my design approach to engineering board in my company.
    Approach 1
Put business logic in backend database layer.
I proposed to put business logic in backend packages rather than putting it in middle .net layer and create web shell services in middle layer which would call these packages and show the data on screens.
    Approach 2
Put business logic in middle tier .net layer.
My company engineering board are more keen for this approach because they think this is the latest approach and now days nobody put business logic in database and moreover we would be having clear separation between data and logic.
But my concern is we may have network latency issues in approach 2 because we need to move millions of records data back and forth between database and application server.
Could you please suggest, which approach is best and why?

    My views:
    1. If it is a data centric operation, like you have mentioned, it will be a bottleneck to transfer the required data to middle tier for processing
    2. If you are going to support one and only one RDBMS as a backend ever, I don't see a reason to take an approach which is mostly taken in case one needs to support databases from different vendors as back end.
    3. If you are convinced that yours is the only application that would ever connect to this database, then you can add the business logic in the middle tier; If not, let it be in the database in form of triggers/procedures/functions/packages etc.
    4. Last but not the least, having business logic in the database would call for faster processing and that you can use all features of that particular RDBMS to full extent, in case needed.
I always support having the business logic in the database layer (not that I hate business logic in application/middle tier) but there can be exceptions.
    Just my two cents :-)

  • Business Objects Services

    Hi all
I have Business Objects and SAP Business Objects PCM installed in the same server, I reviewed the performance service when is running one calculated process in PCM and all looks good, but if I turn on the BO services (CMS and  TOMCAT), all the memory  start to be consume
How I need configure the services for both applications?
    Thanks

    Hi Ivonne,
first of all, the CAF Business Objects (BOs) itself don't contain any business logic, they're basically just local database tables (with some CRUD services on top).
Business logic is implemented in Application Services (AS).
Now, regarding local BO's vs. external services, it depends on your use case. If the data is already available somewhere in your backend system it makes sense to use external services. For instance you wouldn't want to store business partners all over different composites. For data that is specific to your composite (in particular configuration, customizing etc.) and not likely to be reused by other applications you should use local BOs.
Accessing local BO's is also much faster than calling external services.
You can do reuse in both scenarios, since the CAF services can be exposed as web services.

  • ADF11g: business logic in ADF BC or PLSQL?

    Hi All,
For a new development in ADF 11g , where we should put our business logic: In ADF BC or in PLSQL?
What if we write all the bussiness logic in plsql? Because if tomorrow ADF goes(which I know is not ging to happen soon), we can expose pl/sql as web services, and new UI technology can use it. And we will not struggle on migration, as we are struggling today from Forms to ADF.That's what my manager says......
Though I know that we can write our business logic in ADF BC, and that too can be exposed as web service.
But I still need more suggestion on this, which one is better to write bussiness logic.
    Thanks
    Vikram

We have a team with mixed skill sets, so consequently some of our business logic is in ADF/BC and some is in PL/SQL.
Having some in PL/SQL allows my project manager to divide and conquer the work to be done on an adf project easier than I can train the pl/sql guy to be an adf guy...supposedly.
Also our project manager is also a techy with a primarily pl/sql orientation.
I like Java better because it is new and fun for me, but that is not much of a reason.
I have been to many presentation's of Paul Dorsey's BRIM product. Paul is absolutely certain that you and your manager are doing good when you put business logic in the database. Paul goes even further. I respect him and his arguments are sound.
I still like Java better...mostly because I have done pl/sql for ages and am tired of it. :-)
