Business rule ..currency translation..

In the currency translation business rule formula..what is AS-IS-1 refers to.
I understand AS-IS means historical rate.., but what is AS-IS -1 ?
What is the meaning of formula like...END u2013 AVG in business rule? Where it is used?
I have enough documents, links..appreciate your replies...

Hi Manilyer,
                    I dont know about AS-IS-1???but when it comes to END-AVG...there will some accounts in any consolidation like RESERVES,SHARECAPITAL which will be calculated at END and AVG rate means....
Lets take..Company "A" bought a 70% share in the Company "B" at a ratei.e AVG rate but when we are doing consolidation of accounts at Year end i.e "END" rate..then there will be diffrence in their consolidation..this called "FCTR" calculation...this is what END-AVG..and it will happen only few account's..
Hope you got my information...

  • Business Rule Currency Conversion and Carry Forward

    Hello Guys,
    I have a question related to the Business Rules Currency Conversion and Carry Forward
    I configured the business rule "Currency Conversion" and I selected "Apply to Periodic". What this rules does with the flag selected  is to get the value of the previous month converted and add the factor (Local Currency previos month - Local Currency Actual month) * Exchange Rate of Current Month
    For Example: USD previos month +
    This rule applies perfectly from FEB to DEC but if I run it for January, it does not consider the value of USD previos month and LC previous month for calculations so the result I get is:
    (and of course it´s because it only applies to periodic)
    I need to include into my results this amounts and factor so the question is: Is not a flag I can activate to force the system to act as it does for FEB to DEC periodic ??
    I also set up the Business Rule "Carry Forward" so with this rule Im able to bring values converted in USD from DEC to JAN for example from a Data Source Input, but the problem is that it erase any other value I have in other Data Source members and I need to keep that info.
    Hope you can come with a suggestion.
    Im working with SAP BPC NW 7.5 SP08

    Hello guys,
    Yes, my fiscal year is from JAN to DEC and Im using a YTD app,
    As you mentioned for P&L accounts the rule works fine; but we want to carry forward LEQ accounts. Is there a way to use or configure the currency conversion rule with the flag "Apply to Periodic" to carry forward LEQ accounts for the next following year?
    Here is how we configured our Carry Forward Business Rule
    Source and Destionation account = 4111
    Source and destionation Flow= FCLO
    Reverse Sign= False
    Data Source Type= ALL
    Same Period= False
    Apply to Periodic=False
    Opening Data Source=DatosBase
    Source Data Source = AJ_AC

  • Rate application and business rule Currency Converison

    Hi experts,
    Could anyone help me about the following confusion? thanks.
    Typically if talking about  currency translation, we have to find a way to find out source currency, target currency and rate to calculate.
    According to BPC logic(If i was right)
    1) source currency is determined from property of dimension Entity.
    2) Rate type is decided by Account dimension .
    My questions are:
    1) where could I define the target currency I convert to ? I have to point out when running DM package? I read from document - we can specify G or R type currency in currency dimension, does that mean the conversion will run on each of them in default way?
    2) what will happen if currency defined in Entity dimension's property is NOT identical with currency of transaction data stored in Legal  Application?
    Our task is to convert data stored in Legal App, isn't it?
    3) If you check Rate application, there is only one field to input currency. Why not two currencies are ready to input? Field currency A and currency B, then rate of conversion?
    Your help is much appropriated.
    Thanks.

    When the data is loaded in transaction currency ,  then make sure you dont run Currency Translation program for that data region . If currency translation ran for that data region , program offsets all amounts that are loaded in transaction currency . Check 4 th page of this very good  [blog|http://www.sapdiary.com/index.php?view=article&catid=76%3Asap-business-objects-overview&id=2522%3Asap-network-blog-bpc-for-net-weaver&format=pdf&option=com_content&Itemid=76]  on Currency Translation by Richard Jabbour.
    The standard behavior of currency conversion expects LC to be entered. If one does nothing
    but installs the program call in FXTRANS and Default logic, an entry in NON LC currency
    members will result in an immediate offsetting negative amount negating the entry.
    Hope this helps.

  • Currency Translation -- Business Rules

    Hi,
    In my application, under "Business Rules" in the Admin Console, I don't have the "Currency Conversion Rules" business rule. Can I add it somehow?
    When I click on my application, it doesn't say <b>FXTrans: in use</b> as it should.
    I want to use business rules for implementing the currency translation. Anyone knows how to do this?

    This was easily done by modifying the application from the Admin Console.

  • Currency Translation and Account Transformation Business Rules Together?

    Hi I am fresh out of college and working on a BPC project. I have this working but fear down the road problems.
    We are using currency translation and struggling with getting our NetIncome to write the correct value to the Current Year Retained Earnings when it converts from LC to USD; USD value did not match Net Income in P&L.
    Initially, we did the Account Transformation first in our default logic only on LC, then FX runs and creates the corresponding USD value which does not match the Net Income.
    It looks like the logic is correctly summing the YTD value but it converts using the AVG rate for the period (as opposed to multiplying each month by that monthu2019s average rate) creating a variance.
    Weu2019ve moved the account transformation to run after FX and have it also running on USD. This currently works but seems like a workaround, and as we configure the remaining CTA rules will we run into problems?
    Have any experts run into this issue before and what should I do?

    Hi, perhaps this is my lack of accounting knowledge rearing itself.
    RE = BS = End (if you take into account translation adjustment for Net Income and Additions/Substractions & OB)
    However If you are talking about the RE Reserve (and computing that correctly)
    RE Reserve
    OB - Opening
    Inc - Avg
    Sub - Avg
    NI - Avg [I assume it is this line you are talking about - please try the apply periodic option for avg]
    CTA - calculated
    CB - End

  • GRC PC 10.0 business rule creation: Wildcard for Currency field

    Hi,
    Currently I am designing a business rule that has standard price as a deficiency. I am using a blank check. But the system wants me to choose a specific currency. I want it to retrieve all records with the deficiency, regardless of currency.
    I've tried using "*" in the currency field, but it retrieves nothing. I am only able to retrieve records when I add a specific currency.
    Why is that? And what can I do to fix this problem?
    Thank you.

    Hi Raphael,
    Have you defined the Currency field as a filter criteria? If yes, can you please remove the field from filter selection and try to execute the rule again.
    Just make sure it comes under output format section.
    regards,

  • Currency Converion and Business Rule questions

    Hi all,
    I am new to BPC and would appreciate if you can help me answer few of my questions. I was going through how to documents on currency conversion and Business Rules.
    1. The Flow in Currency Conversion and Business Rules different?
    2. Can Currency conversion be done without defining the Currency Rules?
    3. In Business Rules Detail there is a cloumn for Sign. How should one determine what sign should go for a given account?
    Thanks,
    Diksha.

    Venkatesh,
    It seems like you are using Company as your Entity type dimension.
    Try to change your code to look like this
    *RUN_PROGRAM CURR_CONVERSION
         CATEGORY = %CATEGORY_SET%
         SELECT(%CURRENCY_SET_ID%,"[ID]",CURRENCY,"CURRENCY_TYPE='R'")
         TID_RA = %TIME_SET%
         RATEENTITY = GLOBAL
        OTHER = [COMPANY=%COMPANY_SET%]
    *ENDRUN_PROGRAM

  • Creating and using a calculated field in business rule from the currency conversion of another field.

    Hello,
    I'm creating a calculated field with a set currency for a business rule. I'm planning to use it as a deficiency criteria. I want the values to come from the currency conversion of another field. Can someone provide me the step by step procedure on how to do it?
    Some documents would be great.
    I've been trying to do it on my own but I've gotten lost.
    Thank you.

    Thank you for all your help above.
    Just to confirm your advice, am I right with the following conclusions? :
    1. The script (function) to fill the text field with the modification date of a different PDF file needs to be stored in a folder level .js file.
    2. The document containing the text field needs to call the .js function either within the document script or within the custom script property of the text field itself.
    Further to that can you just advise on the syntax for accessing the modification date of the other document.
    Do I need to assign a variable to the address of the file to be used, and then use this variable in the text form filling script (as below) or can I use a direct file reference at the .modDate command.
    var LastSync = "C:\sync\bin\lastsync.pdf";
    var strMsg = util.printd("h:MM tt",LastSync.modDate) + " on ";
    strMsg += util.printd("dddd, d mmmm, yyyy",LastSync.modDate);
    this.getField("LastSyncDate").value = strMsg;
    If the syntax is totally different to the above I would be very grateful for some guidance in the right direction.
    I much appreciate your time to help me ... I'm almost there.
    Kind Regards,

  • Currency translation issue on SP08 when I use Force close option

    Hi,
    I am using three RATETYPES (AVG,END, HIST) in account dimension,

    2) Run Fx Translations (it worked well as expected)
    3) Run Carry forward to 2011.DEC with LC and USD
    4) Loaded LC YTD Trial Balance for 2011.NOV
    5) Run Validation report with local currency (my balance sheet looks good for openingbalance, current period activities and closing balance)
    6) Run Validation report in USD for Opening balance, Still it balances for opening balance as its carry forwarded from previous period.
    7) Run Fx translation package for DEC.2011
    8) after FX translation my balance sheet is out of balance.
    Error:
    My Balancesheet is out of balance after running Currency translations when we have opening balances. it is out of balance with the amount for the same for the opening balance. I mean before running currency translation for opening balance total for balancesheet items is zero but after running currency translations the opening balance is out of balance and CLosing balance sheet is also out with same dollar number.
    I am assuming the force close option is not working correctly. When we are on SP05 I remember it was working without any issue.
    I appreciate if any comments on this issue.
    Thanks,
    Sri

    Hi. On #1, try force translating these entities on their own. If that works, then I would call support about the all entities process not working. On #2, most people don't bother clearing the data after translating - just update it as needed. If you really want to clear it, you'll need an if/then in your calculate subroutine that runs the clear when at the reporting currency.

  • Change of Standard Currency Translation Logic

    Hello everybody,
    I need to achieve special goal to for a user request:
    In a BPC planning application using version 5 MS I would like to import data from another data source and perform a currency translation from LC to RC. The application is NOT set-up as a YTD application, as the planners should be able to input data on a periodic basis (i.e. month). So the default currency tranlation would take the LC amount from one month and multiply it with the rate for this month giving the amount in RC.
    I need to change the FX trans logic in a way that the LC amounts are summed up first and then the multiplication with the last FX rate is taken, i.e. similar to a YTD consolidation application. I do not want to change the existing appl into a YTD-appl as monthly input is needed.
    Therefore I need to change the standard FX trans logic from, let's say, "multiply each monthLC value by FX rate and then build the YTD value" into "sum-up each month LC value giving YTD LC value and then multiply by FX rate of the last month".
    Can I achieve that by tweaking the standard FX logic or do I need to set-up a certain FX Business Rule? Do I need a new measure ? How would the coding look like ?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Wolfgang

    Does nobody have an idea how to attack such a challenge ?

  • Business Rule in BPC 5.1

    Dear all,
    I got 2 questions regarding business rule:
    1. There are 2 types of business rule.
    Script-based = You write your own script ( MdX or SQL logic)?
    Table-based = The table is more like a parameter table. You configure the parameters in the business rule tables and use corresponding store procedure in some logic file to trigger the function.
    ex:
    You must setup the currency translation rule table and call SPRUNCONVERSION to execute currency translation function.
    Is this correct?
    2. According to the SAP BPC admin guide, the rule files will be converted to LGL file, is this still the same in BPC 5.1? I can't find any related LGL in the system.
    Best Regards,
    Jeff

    You're mixing termology and functionality.
    Business rules are configured under the application/business rule tab in administration.  They are SQL stored procecures that cannot be modified and are seutp using the business rules tables.  The values in the table are passed into the SP's as parameters.  SPRunConversion is an example of a business rules stored procedure.
    Separately, there is script based logic.  This is setup under the Applicaton/Script Logic tab in administration.  These are calculations that are written by the application administrator (a number of examples are provided) to peform calculations.  There is a script logic example (FXTrans) which perfroms the same process as SPRunConversion.  They are text based files which get "compiled" into executed code.  The file you write to is the LGF file.  This contains the source code along with comments and spacing for readability.  The compiled file has an LGX extension and is a text file which has extra spacing and comments removed and any *INCLUDE statements replaced with the underlying coce.

  • Business rules config does not save to UJP_ELIM and UJP_ELIMH

    Hi folks,
    I completed the configuration of currency translation and the calculation of ultimate ownership in a consolidation application that I am building in BPC 7.5.  I then started to work on the business rules for Consolidation.  These are my findings:
    The first field is called Adjustment ID  on the screen (but it is actually Elim ID in the Elim table and ElimH tables).
    When I populate this field and save, I get an error message saying "Input rule data does not match the rule name ELIMH.
    When I populate all the fields on the Auto adj defn screen and try to save or try to validate, I get the same error.
    Nothing gets saved to the tables and Both the Elim and Elimh tables have no values in them.
    In 7.0 NW, when I created a new adjustment id and saved, it automatically went and saved it to the database and this was the same in 5.1 as well.
    What am I missing?
    Would very much appreciate any light that you can shed on this.
    Thank you
    Tara Sitaram

    Hi Tara,
    Can you check that your BPC ABAP, BPC .net Server and BPC client are the same service pack?
    Thanks,
    John

  • Hyperion Planning business rules migrating to Calc Manager issue

    It was suggested I post this in calc manager as well, so I hope cross posting is allowed!
    We are trying to migrate from Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2
    Our business rules were migrated to Calc Manager by our IT team. The rules run (for the most part).
    Our main complaint about this migration is that it excluded our comments inside the business rules and added it's own!
    When we first open the rule it is in graphical mode. But on the Script Tab I can see our orignal Business rule, but it's missing comments. Not all comments -- those at the top of the rule are intact, but after it starts getting into the meat of the rule, it loses many, but not all of the comments. When I chose to edit this rule in script mode, then calc manager adds tons if its own comments, making the code very junky to read.
    So, multiple questions -- how do we get the migration of business rules to calc manager to stop losing our important comments. Is it possible to get the newly migrated rules to initially open in script mode rather than graphical mode so that it doesn't add it's own comments. Or is there a way to turn off the added commenting?
    This is a snippet of our rule in 11.1.1.3:
    FIX ("D0P000 Pushdown")
    "Accrued Salaries and Wages Pushdown" = "BTL Accrued Sal & Wages Total"->"WBS_I19990_PLAN" * (D0P000->"Total Reg Labor" / "LMSS (LRP TEMPLATE LEVEL)"->"Total Reg Labor");
    ENDFIX
    /* FIX on account members that should be rolled up in the AGG statement below. */
    FIX (@DESCENDANTS( "Orders"),
    This is what it looks like when it comes up in graphical mode in Calc Mgr 11.1.2.2 (note that comment is already missing):
    FIX ("D0P000 Pushdown")
    "Accrued Salaries and Wages Pushdown" = "BTL Accrued Sal & Wages Total"->"WBS_I19990_PLAN" * (D0P000->"Total Reg Labor" / "LMSS (LRP TEMPLATE LEVEL)"->"Total Reg Labor");
    ENDFIX
    FIX (@DESCENDANTS( "Orders"),
    This is what it looks like when it switches from graphical to script (bonus comments are added):
    FIX ( /*DIM:Entities*/"D0P000 Pushdown")
    /*STARTCOMPONENT:FORMULA*/
    "Accrued Salaries and Wages Pushdown" = "BTL Accrued Sal & Wages Total"->"WBS_I19990_PLAN" * (D0P000->"Total Reg Labor" / "LMSS (LRP TEMPLATE LEVEL)"->"Total Reg Labor");
    /*ENDCOMPONENT*/ ENDFIX
    FIX ( /*DIM:Accounts*/@DESCENDANTS( "Orders"),
    Thanks for any help.
    Brenda

    You might learn to appreciate graphical mode in Calc Manager, we do. It is not like the old Business Rules in EAS. I am an old school calc script person, and have NO love for drag-and-drop coding ... I need control. ;-)
    Insert a blank script object and paste your code into the 'Script' tab for that object. Set up your prompts and use the {} notation in your code. All of the comments will stay put ... as long as you DON'T USE EDIT, SCRIPT! We make a fair number of generic, reusable pieces of code and save them as shared scripts. These can be dragged into Rules. Click on the Rule's Begin object and choose the Script tab ... you will see how the bits are assembled into complete calc script. We've even come up with a way to use LOOP ... ENDLOOP as though it were a procedural IF statement so we can control whether or not a chunk of code is active or not.
    Shared scripts are especially good for currency translation components since we occasionally add new currencies and want to make a change in one object that is used in dozens of business rules.

    I have migrated an 11.1.1.3 business rule and two macros (templates) into Calculation Manager 11.1.2.2. When I validate the script I get the following error. Has anybody seen this before or have any guidance? The script syntax checks ok.

    Actually
    I have just been re thinking about your post. My comments above may not be correct for your situation. The Syntax above is correct if you are talking about the code "within" the template itself (So if you open the template and look at the code). But if the code you posted in your messages was from the script window of the rule (When in script mode) then your problem is something different potentially.
    So the first thing is to make sure that in the template itself (template open) the DTPs are defined in the global range or member range as [Parm1],[Parm2] etc (Or fix, depending on how the template is shown) as I said in my first response above, the template only defines the DTP, not the members and should be enclosed in square brackets, like [Parm1}. That will make sure the DTP as defined in your template correctly. Then we need to look at how you are defining those DTPs in the rule itself. Normally this is a lot easier if your rule is in graphical view, as you just click on the template and your can enter the values. As you have your rule in Script mode you need to be very careful in how you define the DTP values. Each DTP 'type' has different syntax in script mode.
    On looking at your script again I can see another problem potentially. When defining the values in the DTP's, the value needs enclosing with double square brackets, like so  [["Three Year Budget"]]. In your script you also have parenthesis. Which isn't always correct. There are times having parenthesis and double brackets is correct, but that is only when your DTP is type "Members", and by default I think old business rule macros will be translated into templates with the DTP types of "Script"
    So if you also amend your business section where the templates are defined to as below; (as you can see, no parenthesis around the DTP values).
    SET UPDATECALC OFF; SET AGGMISSG OFF;
    %Template(name:="FCOm_TargetSection",application:="FCO",plantype:="FCO",dtps:=("parm1":=[["Three Year Budget"]],"parm2":=[["DGAllocation"]],"parm3":=[[{FCOrtpYears}]],"parm4":=[[Mar]]))
    %Template(name:="FCOm_TargetAgg",application:="FCO",plantype:="FCO",dtps:=("parm1":=[["Three Year Budget"]],"parm2":=[["DGAllocation"]],"parm3":=[[{FCOrtpYears}]],"parm4":=[[Mar]]))
    The end game should be that when you open your rule and view in script mode and then select script tab down the bottom your templates should look as below, as you will see, all that should be shown in the script are the values substituted from the template definition, key point is that there are no brackets or Parenthesis. The script should show "pure" script. ( I have highlighted and underlined how those 4 DTPs should translate in the script view)
    First template:
    SET UPDATECALC OFF; SET AGGMISSG OFF;
    FCOm_TargetSection
    parm1 = scenario
    parm2 = version
    parm3 = years
    parm4 = periods
    The purpose of this macro is to translate Target input to GBP and copy to Curr NA and aggregated. Step1: Copy inputs to Total Section to I/P Total Section and No Project Step1: Copy inputs to Converted Currency - no need to translate as all inputs are in GBP Step2: Copy Input GBP values to Curr NA
    FIX("Three Year Budget","DGAlocation",FY15,Mar,@IDESCENDANTS("BH - T"), "Curr NA", "Baseline","Entered Currency","A - 6111","A - 6112","A - 6113","A - 65","A - 66","A - 620905")
    DATACOPY "Total Section" TO "Input_Total Section";

  • Skip currency translation for certain data source members

    I have got percentage data againist some data source members which I do want to translate when the currency translation is executed. Is there a way to achieve this? The business rules for currency translations only have account and flow dimensions and does not include data source dimension so I am not able to filter out datasource dimension members in currency translation business rules.
    Any suggestion how it may be possible to filter data source member during currency translation execution?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi there,
    You can use the *XDIM_MEMBERSET with the DATASRC dimension to limit what data gets translated (7.0 M SP9)
    Please see [Note 1522149|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1522149] - XDIM_MEMBERSET can be used with DataSrc in Business Rule
    Also, the IS_CONVERTED property in the DataSrc dimension can also be used:
    The IS_CONVERTED property
    The members of the DATASRC dimension will be processed according to the value of the property IS_CONVERTED, as per the following rules:
    IS_CONVERTED = N: These members are ignored in the conversion
    IS_CONVERTED = Y: These members are converted from LC into the desired currency
    IS_CONVERTED = G (group): These members are copied from the reporting currency of the GROUP being translated into the currency member corresponding to the given group.
    This obviously only applies if the translation is run for a GROUP and not for a reporting currency.
    All members of the DATASRC dimension having the property IS_CONVERTED not set to u2018Yu2019 will be skipped.
    Thanks,
    John
