Business rules cannot be opened through EAS

Hi all,
Currently we are on the System 9.3.1 version. Today when i was trying to open the Business Rules through EAS it just shows the following error message "Exception occurred. Please check your log file for details." and the rules do not open.I dont know where to check the logs.
Please help me out in how to fix this issue.

Have they ever worked ?
Have you followed the golden rule, start RMI, EAS, Planning, Log into planning application through the web, Open EAS, create bus rule, select outline of the planning application you logged in.
Also it is definitely checking out document ID 763345.1 in metalink3 (My Oracle Support)

Business rule - cannot run

Gurus,
I cannot launch a business rule. When I try to launch it, it gives a message "the rule cannot be launched because it has hidden rtp variables without default value"
What could be he problem with it.

Maybe it relates to the issue
9900514 - "The Use Members on Data Form and Hide Prompt options for business rules attached to composite data forms apply only for runtime prompt values from the globally shared pages and POVs of a composite data form. In other words, this will only use members that are shared across all component data forms. If users want a business rule to take context from a single component data form, they should attach the business rule to that component data form and include the business rules for that component data form at the composite data form level (<Business rules for componentX>)."

Business Rules will not launch or open in EAS or Planning

The Business Rules will not open or launch in EAS. Additionally, they do not show up in Planning at all. The error received is "Exception occurred. Please check your log file for details." As of Friday, everything was working fine. On Monday morning the issue started. The only thing that occurred over the weekend was the weekly stop & start of all services.
Addiitonal Info:
Version 9.3.1
Can create new rules, but after saved, cannot launch or re-open
Can view the business rules in EAS, cannot open, launch, or validate
Cannot view any business rules in Planning
Have already tried stopping and starting all services
Have already tried different ids.

I can view the rules in EAS, just cannot open or launch. I am thinking it still has to do with the active directory that they changed, but need more time to research. Here is the specific error now:

Cannot publish Business Rules because supposedly Validation is still running

Hi All
I am trying to exclude business rules (ticking the Exclude flag on the UI) on a certain entity. When I try to publish the changes the message that I'm greeted with states:
"Business rules cannot be published or refreshed while validation is running for the entity's model. Wait until validation is completed then republish the rules".
The entity is validated when new data is staged in via stored procedures that run on a schedule in SQL Agent. I have turned SQL Agent off to halt any data updates/validation. I still get this message.
What tells it that validation is still running. Is there a flag in the database that could be corrupted? Or a suspended instance perhaps? Has anyone else encountered such as error?
Any help is appreciated.

Is the version large enough that validation can take more time. Can you check if any validation is running by executing
[mdm].[udpValidationIsRunning]
Also can you confirm validation process is running in Service Broker by checking

Hi,
In EAS you can export the business rule to xml, open the xml and do a find and replace on the servername, save, import into target environment through eas.
for example you might see this in the xml
Planning/EPMV11/PLANSAMP/Consol
You would just do a find and replace on the servername (EPMV11) to the new servername.

Partial Completion of Business Rules

Hi All
Smart View version 11.1.2.1
Essbase version 11.1.2.1
We have a couple of Business Rules that when launched through Smart View, only partially seem to complete (not all out put as expected). We connect through Shared Connections, and have tried running these with the 'admin' user. They Launch fine and show as Completed in the Job Console.
If we then log into EAS (again, same user as above, admin) and run the rules directly from there, they run fine and give us expected output.
As an example, we have one rule that copies data from an Account in one Scenario to the same in another, and then should copy from that Target Scenario/Account to a different Account. When running from Smart View, the initial copy occurs, but then the later copy does not. In Essbase, this works fine.
I am not sure where to focus my attentions, would it be right to assume that this is a security issue, as running directly in Essbase bypasses this?
Not sure how much use the code will be, but will post if necessary.

I would start by looking at the Essbase log to make sure nothing is failing. Also keep in mind that running a BR in a form is quite different than running it in EAS. In many cased the boundaries of the form may narrow the calculation scope. Every application and implementation is different so it is hard to say what exactly is happing.
I would also test running the rule form the form in the web client. If you get the same result at you did in SV then this will eliminate the SV client as a factor.

Can't see some Business Rules after running the Import via LCM

I am trying to migrate our Business Rules down from Prod to Dev to get them back in sync. Here is the steps I have run:
Export ALL Business Rules and Sequences from Prod via LCM
I confirmed the export directory contains an .xml file for EACH Rule.
copied the export directory down to Dev Shared Services server
Turned on DEBUG for Shared Services
Deleted ALL Business Rules and Sequences from Dev EAS BR repository
I confirmed that ALL BUsiness Rules are listed and checked in LCM Import.
run the Import from Dev Shared Services via LCM
I get a Completed successfully message. No Errors.
I Refresh Rules in Dev EAS and I only see 25% of the Business Rules listed.
I have tried to Stop/Restart the EAS services and still nothing.
I confirmed that the ID I am using to Export / Import has access on each Business Rule either directly or via a Group that has access.
Any thoughts??

I was really trying to get it done via LCM since I have all other migrations being done there. but I ended up taking your advice and doing it the old fashion way via EAS export.
To answer your questions:
We are on 11.1.1.3
I did not see any problems in the Services logs for EAS. Nothing that stood out.
We are migratiing 66 Rules and 15 Sequences.
We are using Weblogic instead of Tomcat.
Even though I have a workaround for the issue I am still interested in understanding why some of them did not import via LCM. You mentioned that you might consider adjusting some config settings. What settings would you recommend looking at?

Form Performance Degrades after Business Rules are added to Run on Save

Has anyone ever seen an instance where adding business rules to a form (run on save only) makes the form open twice as slow?
We have some large forms that were opening in about 20 seconds that suddenly started taking twice as long (40 seconds). When we remove the association of the business rule, they are opening quickly again. Because the business rules are set to run on save, I'm not sure why they would affect the form open performance.
Any ideas are appreciated.

I am guessing here a bit.
But a question. Is your calc complicated? does it have a lot of variable in the calc?
My guess is that even though the calc is run on save when you open it it compiles the calc as you open it. A check is to create a really simple calc one line that basically does nothing and see if that changes your performance. Also if you click off "run on save" does the performance return?
Just theory guessing here.

Error seeing business rule ( to be assocated with)in Manage Data forms list

HI,
I have a business rule, I see it in EAS console, but when I try to associate it with my Data form in Planning, i do not see this business rule in the list fo business rules that appear in Manage Data forms-> business rules tab. I hae associated thsi Business rule with my planning applicatiosn outline still I am not seeing it. Can someone please help.

How does this relate to the Oracle Forms product?

Library of Business Rules

An existing system in my company has a large repository of decision tables, that we would like to port to decision tables to be run on Oracle Business Rules engine (and exposed through a single service).
What would be the best way to do this?
To me, JDeveloper does not seemthe right choice because: a) it would take long time to port the tables manually, and b) I am not sure if creating (only) a library of business rules (without any other componnets) is possible (in JDeveloper).
I have not tried Business Process Composer?
Once the decision tables are ported, we would like to use Oracle tools to manage the tables (modify existing and create new onces). I assume Businesss Process Composer would be good for that.
Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

I will just summarize from that post how we can check logs..
Example: You want to test the Consolidation business rule & check what records it is writing..
Step 1)Do Light Optimize so that request id in the Manage of consol cube in BW closes( Yellow->Green)
Step 2)Run the consolidation business rule, you will see some 250 records written..
Step 3)Again right click on consol cube in BW and hit Manage and now you can see new request id with yellow status..
Step 4)Copy the request ID of the new entry and filter in Display data and now you can see that 250 records which was run by business rules

Unable to open Business Rules in EAS

For some reason, I all of a sudden cannot open business rules in EAS.
I get the following errors:
Error while sending command to HBR Server running within the EAS server.
Detail:Server returned HTTP response code: 500 for URL: http://usnbka091p:10080/eas/eas
The only thing that happened was that something was messed up with our active directory, but it eventually got fixed. Additionally, it takes a very long time for my EAS to open.
Does anyone have any ideas on where I can look for additional log files to review or anything else that could be causing the problem?

I did manage to get one of the BR's modified by using the admin ID, however there is still an issue. It seems to have something to do with one of our active directories not working. We recently changed active directories, however, there wasn't an issue until all the active directories went down last week. It seems like the original directory is no longer up and running. I am currently waiting for a response from our IT. We'll see how that goes.

Urgent...!! Cannot Assosiate the Business Rule in EAS

I've some problem with my Business Rule (using 11.1.2.0 version). When I tried to associate the outline, it can't be done and error.
Error Message :

and the error log for the HBR :

Try restarting both Planning and the RMI services.
After the services has been restarted.
Log into Planning and go to Business Rules through Planning.
Check that you can see the business rules available via Planning.
Now try logging into EAS and associating a business rule to the planning outline.
