Business use of bypassing sourcing cockpit

Hi experts,
In which scenario, 'process purchase order in draft' is used instead of sourcing cockpit? What are the benefits in such cases?Personally, I donot see much of any benefits here. Say, a shopping cart with three items have been ordered. If we configure 'sourcing not carried out' for three items, the ordered shopping cart will result in three purchase orders in draft stage. Even if all three items could have been sourced from the same supplier, we now cannot bundle it together to create a single purchase order.
Your thoughts and feedback are highly apprciated.
Thanks and regards,
Ranjan

Hi,
The business case for not using the sourcing cockpit would be as follows:
You are using catalogs, where prices, vendors and contracts all come with the item and there is no need to search for these via the sourcing cockpit.
There is a difinite source of supply, ie you can use Vendor lists where you have a predefined list of vendors that you wish to
source your items from...then the source is already found and again no need for sourcing cockpit.
In the shopping cart itself there is a Source of Supply tab where you can search for all valid sources of supply, ie, vendor, contract etc. So this is like a mini sourcing cockpit, the sources found would be the same in the SC as in the Sourcing Cockpit. So there then would be no need to send the item to the sourcing cockpit.
Like above also you can still use the Grouping report to group any items your wish to group in the same PO.
Also please see note 1380879, where it lists all splitting critieria on why your items would split into different PO's, normally if all criteria are the same then no split happens and one PO would be created for multiple items.
The benifits of using the sourcing cockpit would be more flexibility:
You can create different kinds of follow-on documents eg. PO, Contract, Bid Invitation.
With the Bidding option there is a negotiation side of things where your vendors can submit their prices etc. This would suit some customers.
All customers needs are different, this is why you can choose to use this or not.
I hope this helps with the decision process.
Kind Regards,
Lisa

example  : what i knw abt sourcing is...... It means from where we are going to source our material means vendor.
My idea is to know everything abt sourcing cockpit.
    2. ) In SRM 7.0 what is the Busniess rule framework concept and if i need to configure a BRF approval process with respect to Shopping cart and a Purchase order in Extended classic scenario then how do i need to move ahead.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Q no 1:
Sourcing Cockpit is an area from where you can source the requirements..There are two ways  by which sourcing can be done.
    1. The Purchase requisiton created from ECC 6.0 can be pushed to SRM for Sourcing . Either direct material with Part no or
    Service requirement without part number
    2. The shopping cart created in SRM can be converted to sourcing.
once the requirments are flown from ECC 6.0 and  SRM . in the SRM server in sourcing node--click Carry our sourcing.
you can get all the requirements.
From this  you can convert  it to Purchase order, contract,Auction. Bid invitation.
    Q. no 2 :Business Rule Framework.(BRF)
This is related to Workflow .From SRM 7.0 this workflow is called Process controlled workflow. Only by simple rules the
Workflow for  Approval process for P.O ,Contract,Bid invitation can be done.
If you are SAP ABAP person they you can confugure this .Normally  ABAP person will do this.. Please go to S ID and get the
details there for Business rule framework
Just check in this forum in Search you can get more details and notes
go to  Google.com and enter business rule framework you get more material

  • Type PO by item in Sourcing Cockpit (new field)

    Hi Dear Experts,
    I need your help again.
I`m working with extended classic scenario (SRM 5.0 and R/3 4.7)
I have a big issue in my process: I need to choose the type of PO by item in sourcing cockpig, but that needs to be done manually by the user, because I don`t have rule of business to include in the program for automatically determining the type of PO - by the system (like Pgroup or POrganization).
I checked the note 1052650 - Sourcing cockpit: Split criteria for creating follow-on docs, but this note doesn`t resolve my issue.
I need to include one new field in item level (Sourcing cockpit) and use this new field in split_po_loc_cmp_criteria.
Someone knows if it`s possible or not to resolve this issue ? Or Someone knows wich badi ou other criteria I need to use for solution this big problem ???
    Thanks very much.

    Gurus,
Few of the shopping carts after deleting the follow-on PO doesn't appear back in the sourcing cockpit. Furthermore, I found the SOURCE_REL_IND set to blank in table BBP_PDIGP.
Since this is happening at random, not sure if I can forcefully push the cart into the sourcing cockpit using any FM.

  • Resctriction while displaying work items in sourcing cockpit..

    Dear all SRM gurus,
We are using SRM 5.0 extended classic scenario.
We are having a requirement to restrict the work items in sourcing cockpit based on the purchaser user id, i mean particular SC's should be visible to particular users only..
Is there any BAdI or any other procedures to restrict the display.
    Thanks in advance,
    Chandra Sekhar.

    Hi,
You can easily do this by implementing the badi "BBP_WF_LIST" for the object type SOCO.
Here is the documetation of the BADI -
    BBP_WF_LIST
    Short Text
Display Worklists and Search Results Lists
With the Business Add-In BBP_WF_LIST , you can tailor the
display of worklists and search results lists for purchase order documents (and Sourcing applications) in SRM Server according to your own criteria.
    Standard settings
    The following methods are available:
    BBP_WF_LIST for purchasing documents
    <b>BBP_WF_LIST_SOCO for the Sourcing application</b>
In the standard version, the following differences exist between the display of worklists and search results lists:
Normal employees see only their own requirements and documents
The purchaser's worklist in Sourcing and in the application for processing purchase orders is dependent on assignment to an organizational unit.
The goods recipient and invoicing party can find all purchase orders, confirmations, and invoices.
As standard, the system sorts the purchasing documents in ascending order by the last date of processing.
To distinguish between the worklists and search results lists of the SRM Server applications, the BAdI is implemented dependent on the following filters:
    BUS2201
Filter value for the worklist in purchase order processing in SAP Enterprise Buyer
    BUS2203
Filter value for the worklist in confirmation processing in SAP Enterprise Buyer
    BUS2205
Filter value for the search results list in invoice processing in SAP Enterprise Buyer
    BUS2121
Filter value for the worklist in shopping cart status check in SAP Enterprise Buyer
    BUS2200
Filter value for the search results list in bid invitation processing in SAP Bidding Engine
    BUS2202
Filter value for the search results list in bid processing in SAP Bidding Engine
    BUS2000113
Filter value for the search results list in contract processing in SAP Enterprise Buyer
    Activities
Implement and activate the BAdI if you wish to adapt worklists and search results lists.
Note that the filter value Object type (field OBJECT_TYPE) determines for which application the BAdI implementation is active.
    Example
Using the BadI BBP_WF_LIST you can sort the worklist by document number, for example, or remove documents belonging to a particular user from the worklist.
The implementation of the BadI using Business object type BUS2205 allows you to change the list of invoices and the purchase orders associated with these invoices independently of one another. For example, you could sort the purchase orders by purchase order number and the invoices by the name of the user who created them.
You can exclude bid invitations from a certain product category, for example, from the purchaser's search results list in SAP Bidding Engine.
You can exclude contracts from a certain purchasing organization or purchasing group, for example, from the purchaser's search results list in SAP Enterprise Buyer.
    Further notes
If the BadI is used for confirmations and purchase orders, it always accesses the list of the actual document and its purchase orders.
The purchaser's worklist contains only requirements that, according to Customizing, are to be processed in the Sourcing application. See the IMG activity Define Sourcing for Product Categories.

  • Change message text generated from Sourcing Cockpit

    Hi,
This is the scenario where the Buyer completes the Shopping Cart (complete requirement) from the Sourcing Cockpit. After this, the Shopping Cart is removed from the Sourcing Cockpit and also the system sends an email notification to the requestor of the Shopping Cart stating that the purchase department cannot procure the item.
We changed the text (Template with headers) to meet our business requirement using the transaction SE61 and document BP_SOCO_APP_ITEM_COMPL_MAIL while keeping the variables &SC_ITEM& and &SC& in the text.
Now we notice that the changed text is appearing in the notification ,but the variables are not appearing now ( i.e the Shopping Cart number and the Shopping Cart line item are missing in the new message). These variables were appearing in the standard .
Do we have to anything else.
    Thanks
    Sukumar

    Hello Ahmad
I think you need to modify the standard FM CRM_INCOMPLETENESS_CHECK to archive the requirement.
In this FM line 301, the field name which is used in the message is filled.
I hope this could be helpful.
    Best regards,

  • Sourcing cockpit - customer columns in worklist.

    Hi,
I added two fields in item level of shopping cart as mentioned in note Note 672960 - User-defined fields 2
After that In sourcing cockpit I am not able to see the customer fields in the column list where as when I add the shopping cart to the workarea, In the workarea the customer fields are visible as columns.
    Fields in worklist.
Description  Category  Quantity  Requester  Name of Vendor  Requirement   Contract  Bid Invitation  PRS Number  Auction  Manufacturer Part Number  Manufacturer
    Fields in workarea are :
Description  Category  Quantity  Requester  Vendor  Name of Vendor  Gross Price  Net Price  Requirement   Contract  Info rec.  Purchasing Group  Manufacturer Part Number  Manufacturer  Pur Grp  Requestor
The last two columns Pur Grp and Requestor are the two fields added to shopping cart item level.
Why is it like customer columns are displayed in Workarea but not worklist?
Is the note 632982 Generation of screens for sourcing  is the solution for this problem which tells about deletion of screens?
    Thanks.

    Hi
Which SRM version are you using ? Where you have added the fields - At Item level or Header level ?  Are they appearing in the Extended Search functionality ?
Please ensure that the Append and Include table structures are activated carefully and also send the screen shots as well.

  • Sourcing Cockpit - no SOS

    Hi Gurus,
    Step 1) Create Shopping cart
    Step 2) Approve SC
    Step 3) No source available
Step 4) Now in sourcing cockpit
At this point assume there are about 1000 requisitions in the sourcing cockpit.
I understand that the person with the necessary access needs to find a source.
But I want to assign these requisitions (i.e. no SOS requisitions) to MANY business users to take action. Are there any criteria (for example by purchasing group etc?) to assign the responsibility to MANY business users?
    Pls. advise me.
    With regards,
    Pranav

    Hello Pranav,
Once source of supply is not there - shopping cart will go to worklist of the purchaser as assigned in the 'Purchasing group' during creation of shopping cart - this process is standard SRM process.
However, you can determine the 'purchasing group' based on your own business logic may be as per product category or any other condition by using BADI -
    BBP_PGRP_ASSIGN_BADI.

  • Sort requirements by company code or purchasing group in Sourcing Cockpit

I hope someone can provide some insight about POrg, PGroup & Sourcing Cockpit.
Is there a way to filter the SC's in the Sourcing Cockpit by CoCode or purchasing group? Right now when I go to SOCO, I have the following options:
         POrg BE 1 -
    > PGroup A1
         POrg BE 2 -
    > PGroup B1
What if in the backend system #2 we create a PGroup B2, how do I bring it over to SRM and use that to filter my SC"s based on PGroup?
The way we set up our Org structure is that we have multiple companies in BE 2, and each company is set up as its own org unit. These companies share one POrg BE 2 and one PGroup B1. Now the business would like to create add'l PGroups (B2, B3, B4....) one for each company in order to separate the requirements. I'd like to know if that's possible.
    Please advise.

    I figured it out.

  • Purchase Order error message when on Sourcing Cockpit.

    Hi All,
    I have encountered a series of error messages when I try to convert my Shopping Cart into a Purchase Order in SRM 5 within the Sourcing Cockpit. I am using Extended Classic Scenario and have defined the number range in SRM and ECC5. The error messages are below, the moment i try to concert the cart to a Po;
    - Internal number range is missing for transaction type. Inform syst. admin
    - Transaction type * does not exist. Check entries
    - Some backend documents could not be generated, or they contain errors  Further Information
    - No status object is available for
I have checked the transaaction type, number ranges assignments, attributes in PPOMA_BBP but fail to find the cause.
    Any pointers would be welcome!
    Thnx,
    Mike

    Hi Muthu,
The number ranges are consistent as I have checked the number range for local purchase order and this is set as an internal between the range 3000000000 - 3999999999. On the transaction type for BUS2201 Purchase Order, 30 has been set as the Int Number Range, with all other fields left blank.
The strange thing is that the documents that failed to convert into a PO had been reprocessed in the Application Monitor for Purchase Orders, but when I go back into Sourcing to create the PO, I now get the message:
"You have either failed to select an item, or you cannot create a follow-on document due to an error that has occurred"

    Hello Enrico,
Please maintain the transaction type for the BO/TransCat- BUS2000113 in the SPRO at the path SRM Server -> Cross-Application Basic Settings->Define Transaction Types and also if you have implemented the Badi BBP_DETERMINE_LOGSYS , please verify the code for the method ~CONTRACT_LOGSYS_DETERMINE.

  • Custom Error Messages in Sourcing Cockpit do not prevent PO creation

    Hi forum gurus,
We are implementing SRM 5.5 SP 9 in extended classic mode. We have implemented sourcing cockpit too.
We have coded an error message in the 'BBP_ITEM_CHECK' BADI for the sourcing cockpit and it appears correctly in the sourcing cockpit when necessary.
However, the system still allows the PO to be created, despite the error message being visible prior to clicking on the 'Create Purchase Order' button.
Any ideas? I will create a customer message to SAP with this anyway, but hoped someone may know for certain how to resolve it!

  • PO split  in  sourcing cockpit   ?      :-(

    Hello my helpful friends.je.je
I have quick question for the SRM gurus:
In the sourcing cockpit, I selected 20 items (per example) and the application splits those items among 2 purchase orders.
What is the reason of this behavior ?  I know that ebp separates direct and indirect materials.   But in this case everything is indirect.
Is there any field that may cause a PO split ?
Thanks and regards from Mexico !
    diego

Following is the criteria which is used to split POs
    For Backend Purchase Orders
      Company Code
      Purchasing Org
      Purchasing Group
      Document Type
      Vendor
      Subtype (Direct/Hierarchy)
      FI Logical System
Logical System from where an External Requirement comes
For Local Purchase Orders additional criteria is used to split POs:
      Delivery Address (for higher releases)
      Procument Card Number
      Procurement Card Company
Additionaly as mentioned by Vadim, check the Implementation of BADI BBP_SC_TRANSFER_BE (Method GROUP_PO) for any Customer Added Splitting Criteria.
    Thanks,

  • The Shopping cart not appearing in the sourcing cockpit of the buyer

    Hi
We are using Extended Classic Scenario. The SC was created in SRM and then after approval was send to a central buyer for sourcing. The central buyer redistributes the same to the respective Buyer based on the purchasing group. However the SC doesnt appear in the sourcing cockpit of the actual buyer and when I see the details of the SC item in BBP_PD, I see that the Sourcing Relevant Indicator is marked 'Y' which means Sourcing is already completed. But nowhere a supplier has been added to the SC by anyone and it also doesnt reflect in the BBP_PD.
Any idea how and why the indicator has the status 'Y' and how can I make the SC appear in the sourcing cockpit of the buyer.

    Hi Manoj,
If the SC is directly converted into a P.O (either ordered / held status) please check the Sourcing settings in SPRO.
SPRO > IMG > SRM > SRM Server > Sourcing > Define sourcing for product categories
Check whether sourcing always carried out was maintained for the required product category. The P.O will get directly created in case the setting is " Sourcing never carried out".
Please check this and let me know if this is the case.
