Button Destination URI 255 char limit?

While entering the "Destination URI" property on a button,
Jdeveloper is stopping me at character 255.
Has anyone else run into this and found a solution?
TIA
Searched history but did not find anything.
JDev 10.1.3.3.0.3
OAExt 10.1.3

Calling a Reports Server or Bi Publisher requires passing all the parameters, along with
what printer to print to and all the other stuff. This easily can exceed 255 characters.
As long as the report I have has only one or two parameters, the approach of using
Destination URI off a button worked great.
( And I'd rather not add redundant VO attributes with cryptic short code names
to fake my way around this! )
In any case, IE supports 2048 character long URLs ( being one of the SMALLEST..
Firefox and others go much bigger ) and the HTTP spec says nothing about any length limit.
Interestingly, prior postings on the forum indicate that elsewhere people are setting
URLs that exceed 255 characters ( in their examples/dumps ) and those work just fine,
on other item types?
I was hoping to avoid more pp methods to do this since the Destination URL works perfectly
for the task... until I hit this (highly questionable ) data entry limit.
Thx.

  • Howto overcome the 255 char limit in XSLT when outputting using method=text

    Hi, I am facing a problem in my XSLT program to output a CSV file. The header line is exceeding 255 char limit, seems built into the editor and looks like it repeats the 255th character into the next line where it finishes the rest of the line. Now this screws the columns in the CSV file. I have tried different combinations of <xsl:text></xsl:text> tags but to no avail.
    Is there a way to overcome this problem, spanning a line onto multiple lines in SAP but getting a single line in the output ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Swapan

    I should have known better to searched in SAP provided documentation instead here first. I needed to end the line with &> chars to continue into the next line.

  • Jeode 255 char. limit

    I have the Jeode EVM on my PDA. I have to execute a code for which I have to list 9 jar files. The entire .ink file is around 400 characters. Could someone please tell me if there is a way to increase the 255 character limit or if I could change the class path to point to there jar files. I tried looking for this in regedit but did not know what command to tweek.
    Could someone please help me. I am stuch up here and need help desperately.
    Thanks

    It is possible to get parameters from file (and setting up classpath by this), when calling evm (in .lnk). Now I can't check what the parameter is (-f ?). It should allow omit the 256 characters limit in .lnk. Try to run evm with parameter which show all options (maybe advanced options). If you couldn't find this, I will check it later and give you detailed information.

  • SQLLOADER: Large Data Loads: 255 CHAR limit?

    Issue: I'm trying to load a delimited text file into an Oracle table
    with data that execeeds 255 characters and it's not working correctly.
    The table fields are set to VARCHAR2 2000 - 4000. No problem. Some of
    the data fields in the file have over 1000 characters. Ok. When running
    a load, SQLLOADER seems to only want to handle 255 characters based on
    it's use of the CHAR datatype as a defult for delimited file text
    fields. Ok. So, I add VARCHAR(2000) in the .ctl file next to the fields
    that I want to take larger datasets. That does not seem to work.
    When I set a field in the control file to VARCHAR(2000), the data for
    that field will get into the table. That's fine but, the issue is
    SQLLOADER does not just put just that field's data into the table, but
    it puts the remainder of the record into the VARCHAR(2000) field.
    SQLLOADER seems to fix the length of the field and forgets I want
    delimiters to continue to work.
    Anyone know how to get SQLLOADER to handle multiple >255 data fields in
    a delimited file load?

    Here is my control file:
    load data
    infile 'BOOK2.csv'
    append into table PARTNER_CONTENT_TEMP
    fields terminated by ',' optionally enclosed by '^' TRAILING NULLCOLS
    (ctlo_id,
    partners_id,
    content2_byline ,
    content2 varchar(4000),
    content3 varchar(2000),
    content9 varchar(1000),
    submitted_by,
    pstr_id,
    csub_id)
    null

    I have been sucessful using char instead of varchar. But having
    the optionally enclosed by value in the data has always solved
    the problem.

  • Need to create OAF new Button Item with Destination URI with dynamic value

    Would like to add a personalization to a OAF page, with adding a new button Item. Behind the button item, one of the properties we would like to set is Destination URI, and we would like to have this with a dynamic value from the Page we are on.
    Let's say we are on the OAF page for customers. One of the fields is Customer Account Number. This is one of the Attributes from the View Object that the page is built on. So we want to take a value from an Attribute, and use this in the Destination URI value. That is what I mean by dynamic. It depends on what record from the database we are looking at on the OAF page.
    In this case it is View Object is 'HzPuiCrUpCustActVO' and the Attribute is 'AccountNumber'
    Does that make sense? can we reference an View Attribute value in the Destination URI? How can this be done?
    Thanks!

    Kristofer,
    This does make it clearer, as far as using the personalization property to reach another OAF page.
    I would like to build a custom page for the destination, but I did not want to necessarily the page to be another OAF/jsp page.
    One thing we might want to do is build an APEX page. so this Destination URI might have to start with something like http://oraserver.mycompany.com:7779/pls/apex/f?p=
    Another option we might want to use is to just have the destination resolve to a custom URL that includes a parameter value like http://mycompany.com/1905 where 1905 is the account number from the Customer Account OAF page.
    Any ideas, or is this even possible?
    Chris

  • How to pass _ti value to javascript's window in Destination URI of Button

    How to pass _ti value to javascript's window in personalization's Destination URI of  a Button.
    In Self-Service HR, under my benefit's final confirmation page, I added a new button,
    when clicked would do a javascript alert saying "You have successfully completed your 2008 Benefit Enrollment Process". After clicking ok button, it takes to a printable page.
    Here is my code in the Destination URI field
    javascript:onClick=alert('You have successfully completed your 2008 Benefit Enrollment Process'); window.location='OA.jsp?page=/oracle/apps/ben/selfservice/enrollment/webui/EnrlConfPG&retainAM=Y&OARF=printable';
    The alert works but after clicking ok, I get error.
    Looks like it is expecting ti value in the URL and if I pass ti value like this, it works
    window.location='OA.jsp?page=/oracle/apps/ben/selfservice/enrollment/webui/EnrlConfPG&retainAM=Y&OARF=printable&_ti=800699419'
    But where do I get the real ti value? instead of hard-coded value, as ti is not constant and it changes for each login or session

    Please help!
    Thanks

    Burkepm,
    Two things:
    1)Don't use .showModalDialog api of MSDN library, because its only applicable to modal dialog pages in IE.This api won't work on any other browser. Moreover,u will need to add
    < base target="_self " />
    under <head> tag of pop up page. This is required because imodal window api of javascript provided in MSDN would not be able to recognize its parent window with out this.
    So,its not possible to close the pop up window and submit data to the base page form by submitting the page when we close the pop up.
    You can OAF js function for openeing the pop up window.
    2)Secondly, there is way to invoke js pop window function without setting profiles I have mentioned in my blog.This is basically through bound values, for ehich url is genaradted dybnamically, so there is no MAC key url validation.
    Here is the code u need to use this code in process request.:
    import oracle.apps.fnd.framework.webui.beans.nav.OAButtonBean;
    import oracle.apps.fnd.framework.webui.OABoundValueEmbedURL;
    OAButtonBean btn = (OAButtonBean)webBean.findChildRecursive("<button item id>");
    String page= "/xxx/oracle/apps/XXX/abc/webui/xxxPg&retainAM=Y";
    String destURL = APPS_HTML_DIRECTORY + OAWebBeanConstants.APPLICATION_JSP + "?"+ OAWebBeanConstants.JRAD_PAGE_URL_CONSTANT+ "=" + page;
    OABoundValueEmbedURL jsBound = new OABoundValueEmbedURL(btn,"openWindow(self, '", destURL, "' , 'longTipWin', {width:"+900+", height:"+500+"}, true); return false;");

  • How to display more than 255 chars in background job with ALV Grid ????

    Hi All,
    I am using ALV grid with OO.
    I have used call screen for ALV grid display. I have to display more than 255 characters in width. While running it, I can see the list perfectly.
    But in background mode, the list is truncated after 255 chars.
    Can anybody help how to send complete list(width more than 255 chars) to spool.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Neha

    Hi SAP fan,
    <b>YES you can run the ALV report in background mode.
    To run the report in background do F9 instead of F8, then give immediate and save.
    Now goto Sm35 goto job overview and view the job listed
    Choose the job and press the spool button. It will show the list created on the next page. When u clcik the list u can see the ALV output.
    To see this the job should be in the finished status.
    How to define Periodic Jobs
    1.Execute transaction SM36
    2.Define Job name, Job class, Target server
    3.Click on 'START CONDITION' button
    4.Click on 'Date/Time' button
    5.Enter Scheduled start DATE & TIME. Check mark 'Periodic Job' field. Click on 'Period values' button and select 'Hourly' or 'Dialy' or 'Weekly' or 'Monthly' or Other period and SAVE. Go back to main screen.
    6.Click on 'STEPS' button and enter Program name and Variant under box 'ABAP Program'. Click on 'Print Specification' button and enter Printer name under 'Output device' and SAVE
    7.Click on SAVE button until you get message on bottom of the screen that describes 'Job XYZ saved with status: Scheduled'.
    8.Click on 'Job overview' button or execute SM37 transaction.
    9.Select the appropriate 'Job name', 'User name', 'Job Status' & Schedule date under 'Job start condition' and click on 'Execute' button or press F8.
    10.You will now see all your scheduled JOBS.
    <b>Case: 2</b>
    You can Run in Background but make sure it is alv list, not alv Grid FM. if you are uisng alv list not problem , but if you are using alv grid then you can code like this..
    if sy-batch = ' '.
    call 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY'.
    else.
    call 'REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY'.
    endif.
    if you are using OO alv then write this code..
    CALL METHOD cl_gui_alv_grid=>offline
                    RECEIVING e_offline = off.
        IF off IS INITIAL.
          CREATE OBJECT g_custom_container
                 EXPORTING container_name = g_container.
        ENDIF.
    <b>Case: 3</b>
    if you are using OO ALV.
    Just before creating the custom container check for the following condition.
    Batch or Web Reporting
    IF cl_gui_alv_grid=>offline( ) IS INITIAL.
    CREATE OBJECT o_custcontainer
    EXPORTING
    container_name = lc_custcontrol
    EXCEPTIONS
    cntl_error = 1
    cntl_system_error = 2
    create_error = 3
    lifetime_error = 4
    lifetime_dynpro_dynpro_link = 5
    OTHERS = 6
    ENDIF.
    You can see the output in Spool in transaction SP01.</b>
    Good Luck and thanks

  • How to pass the session_id in the destination URI?

    Hi,
    How can I pass the database session_id (sid) via the destination URI of my navigation button, which I created via personalizations, on a standard Oracle page? I am currently using: OA.jsp?page=/xxxe/oracle/apps/ar/webui/XXXMyPagePG&retainAM=Y. Is there any standard functionality to do that without changing standard Oracle code?
    Thanks for your help!
    Best regards
    Guy

    There's currently no API for that - both accessing the Audit database or internally accessing the Session ID within InfoView.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Setting Destination URI of a Pie Chart Graph Programatically-OA Framework

    Hi All,
    I have created a OF Page with the following Regions one under the other:
    1. PageLayoutRN
    2. HideShowHdr1 - Hide/Show Header
    3. TblLayout1RN - Table Layout
    4. Tbl1RowLayout1RN - Table Row Layout
    5. Row1CellFormat1RN - Cell Format
    6. Row2CellFormat2RN - Cell Format
    Basically I have a page with a hide/show header, which contains a table with 1 Row and 2 Columns, where 1 column contains an advanced table and the 2nd contains a Graph (Pie Chart).
    In the Row2CellFormat2RN, I have a GraphTable Region under the name PieChart1RN, which contains a graph called graph1 of style Pie.
    As per the OA Framework Development Guide (744832.1) for R12.1.1 on Graphs (Page 255), a Code snippet is provided for setting the Destination URI of the graph programatically.
    This code is as follows:
    if(webBean.getUINodeName().equals("region3"))
       OAGraphTableBean g2 =(OAGraphTableBean)webBean;
       g2.setDisplayDataMarkers(0, true);
       g2.setDrillDownUrl(0, "OA.jsp?page=/oracle/apps/ak/pages/FWK_TEST_AGR_SUM&akRegionApplicationId=601&sal={@Salary}");
       //Test line graph with data markers and drill-down
       g2.setDisplayToolTip(1,true);
       g2.setDisplayDataMarkers(1, true);
       g2.setDrillDownUrl(1,"http://www.oracle.com");
    } I have tried using this code to set the Destination URI for my graph.
    However, it does not work.
    I do not understand which region name to specify as when I displayed the value contained in webBean.getUINodeName(), it refers to PageLayoutRN.
    In short, I am not being able to set the Destination URI. Even though I have ensured the Bubble Text Property is set to True.
    Can someone pls. help me into adapting this code to my context?
    Thks
    Ravi

    Hi Kumar,
    I have already done it.
    However, it still does not work.
    The controller code looks like it does not recognise my graph region at all.
    Thks
    Ravi

  • Discoverer desktop excel export truncates to 255 chars

    Hi,
    I am using both the desktop and web version of Discoverer (10g). I noticed that if i export a file using desktop, then data in every cell is truncated to 255 chars (which is the excel limit). However, the same does not happen if I export using web version. Any suggestions on what i can do so that even the desktop export will not limit the chars to 255? I guess there is some way, since the web version is able to it. Please let me know!
    Thanks.

    I am experiencing the same issue. has anyone got a solution to this issue? i dont really want to truncate the string if possible

  • Can't jar files with paths 255 chars

    Hi all,
    I have some wsdls that have namespaces long enough that Axis' wsdl2java process creates java files with full paths longer than 255 chars. The java files DO get generated, however. Additionally, javac finds them and compiles them. However, jar doesn't seem to want to jar them. Any idea why wsdl2java and javac work but jar doesn't? Is there anything I can do about it besides trying to move my code to a shorter path?
    thanks
    john

    You may be running into a 72-character limit internal
    to jar files, specifically manifest file line
    lengths. Review the JAR Specification where it
    discusses manifest files. If that's the problem, you
    can use line continuations.Thanks, but that's not the problem. The manifest classpath is the same as it's been for a long time and does span multiple lines. The full path to the files in question is 260-some chars. There are about 10 classes that have this problem. I guess the problem has existed for a long time but these generated files weren't being used until now. The really bad thing about this is that the build now becomes machine-dependent-- if someone checks out the code to a path that's too long, the build fails silently.

  • Use of Destination URI...

    Hi friends,(Apps R12)
    I'd added a button on a page (/oracle/apps/pa/setup/webui/SetupTabSetupPG) with Personalization.
    I'd like to call a database procedure when I clik on the button, but passing a parameter that would be an attribute of an VO in the page (ProjectBasicInfoVO..ProjectId)
    I think it can be done specifying a Destination URI in the button , but don't know exactly what to put.. and I suppose that to get and pass the parameter
    to the procedure.. it could be done in the processRequest of the Controller page (oracle.apps.pa.setup.webui.TabSetupLayoutCO) but I don't know neither how to
    ereference the button... (as it was create dwith personalization)
    Any example code would be appreciated
    Thanks !
    Regards,
    Jose L.

    You can check by not having the retainAM parameter. But this Destination URL parameter has worked for me in my assignments and that is why I mentioned it on blog.
    Can you try by coding. Instead of having items using Personalization, you create a Submit button using code and then handle the click in the code itself. Something like this.
    In ProcessRequest:
    OAPageButtonBarBean pageButtonBean = (OAPageButtonBarBean) webBean.findChildRecursive("PageButtonRN");
    if(pageButtonBean!=null)
    OASubmitButtonBean subBtnBean = (OASubmitButtonBean)createWebBean(pageContext,OAWebBeanConstants.BUTTON_SUBMIT_BEAN,null,null);
    if(subBtnBean!=null)
    //Set the Properties now
    subBtnBean.setLabel("Bank Additional Information");
    subBtnBean.setText("Additional Information");
    subBtnBean.setFireActionForSubmit("addInfoBank",null,null,true);
    pageButtonBean.addIndexedChild(subBtnBean);
    In ProcessFormRequest:
    //Check if Additional Information button got clicked
    if("addInfoBank".equals(pageContext.getParameter("event")))
    pageContext.putParameter("BankAccountId", vBankAccId);
    pageContext.putParameter("BankBranchId",vBankBrnchId);
    pageContext.setForwardURL("XXWAP_INTBANK_ADD_INFO", // Function Name
    OAWebBeanConstants.KEEP_MENU_CONTEXT,
    null, // Application Menu Name
    null, // HashMap
    true, // Retain the AM
    OAWebBeanConstants.ADD_BREAD_CRUMB_NO, // No BreadCrumb
    OAException.INFORMATION);
    Again the above snippet is from a working code. You can pick relevant ideas and implement your solution.

  • Char limit for .mov format?

    Originally posted in the iTunes for Mac forum but to no avail; I would really like to know if there is a char limit in the comments fields of the movie .mov format? When typing in comments for a .mov I find that only a certain amount save leading me to believe either:
    a) iTunes enforces a char limit
    b) .mov has a char limit
    Either way its a disaster for my media handling, I'm quite verbose.

    Hamper..don't hold your breath for a fix since 255 sounds horribly like a limit defined by the underlying architecture... Chances are that there is a single data byte that is used to tell iTunes just how many characters there are in the Comments field. As you may/may not know, one byte can only record a max of 255 characters.

  • Spool List output display 255 char when the rpt is run in Background

    Hi Friends,
    I tried executing a program in Background.. The report output has more than 64 columns ( more than 255 char ) ..
    Iam using "REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY" for displaying the list.
    My Problem:
    1. The spool list is truncated after 255 characters when i run in background.
    2. Th output in Spool List is coming in 2 rows ... not very clear ... becoz of that the grid lines are not getting displayed.
    3. I ve not used any Standard - line size for dislaying ..
    4. In foreground i am able to display all the 64 columns... Y not in Background......
    5. My Printer setting is ..X_255 .... only ...
    Requirement:
    1. What should i do to increase the spool list display to more than 255 characters
    2. Or how to save the background run reports output to an excel sheet as how we 'll take the from the foreground.
    Expecting your answers,
    Thanks in Advance...
    Cheers,
    R.Kripa .........
    Enjoy ABAPing ..........
    new upcoming Abaper ....

    Hello Kripa,
    You need to perform two actions.
    1. set an appropriate format for the printer you are using. As explained from the previous messages you go to: SPAD -> output devives (type the printer you are using) -> from the menu ..-> goto -> device type -> formats. In there create a new format like Z_65_650
    or Z_65_xxxx where xxxx could be up to 1065. This is the length of your report.
    When you give your report in background, do not forget to choose the new format you created.
    2. After the spool request is created, you take its number and use it ar a parameter in the following report.
    Please copy and paste it in a new program, maybe called ZRSPOSHOWSPOOLLIST.
    It should work then.

  • How to change the Destination URI value of a item table at run time

    I'd like to change the Destination URI of item of a table region when a column X of my view is not NULL. Where should I set the new Destination URI value for the item table region for specific row? Is in the RowImpl for the view object or in the Controler of the page?
    I'd really appreciate any suggestion.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the help, but I still dont know where I should to use setAttributeValue(DESTINATION_ATTR,OADataBoundValueViewObject());
    All examples that I saw till now here, suggestes to change something in the page in Controller but based on something entered in the page. In my case is IN to OUT, I will render some item table with a specific value parameter based what is in the database. Being more specific, I have a html table and one column Col1 has a value and it will have a DESTINATION URL if another column Col2 is Null. I believe I would have to check somewhere if the Col2 is null or not and change the DESTINATION URL property.
    Thanks again..
