SQLLOADER: Large Data Loads: 255 CHAR limit?

Issue: I'm trying to load a delimited text file into an Oracle table
with data that execeeds 255 characters and it's not working correctly.
The table fields are set to VARCHAR2 2000 - 4000. No problem. Some of
the data fields in the file have over 1000 characters. Ok. When running
a load, SQLLOADER seems to only want to handle 255 characters based on
it's use of the CHAR datatype as a defult for delimited file text
fields. Ok. So, I add VARCHAR(2000) in the .ctl file next to the fields
that I want to take larger datasets. That does not seem to work.
When I set a field in the control file to VARCHAR(2000), the data for
that field will get into the table. That's fine but, the issue is
SQLLOADER does not just put just that field's data into the table, but
it puts the remainder of the record into the VARCHAR(2000) field.
SQLLOADER seems to fix the length of the field and forgets I want
delimiters to continue to work.
Anyone know how to get SQLLOADER to handle multiple >255 data fields in
a delimited file load?
jk
Here is my control file:
load data
infile 'BOOK2.csv'
append into table PARTNER_CONTENT_TEMP
fields terminated by ',' optionally enclosed by '^' TRAILING NULLCOLS
(ctlo_id,
partners_id,
content2_byline ,
content2 varchar(4000),
content3 varchar(2000),
content9 varchar(1000),
submitted_by,
pstr_id,
csub_id)
null

I have been sucessful using char instead of varchar. But having
the optionally enclosed by value in the data has always solved
the problem.

  • Howto overcome the 255 char limit in XSLT when outputting using method=text

Hi, I am facing a problem in my XSLT program to output a CSV file. The header line is exceeding 255 char limit, seems built into the editor and looks like it repeats the 255th character into the next line where it finishes the rest of the line. Now this screws the columns in the CSV file. I have tried different combinations of <xsl:text></xsl:text> tags but to no avail.
Is there a way to overcome this problem, spanning a line onto multiple lines in SAP but getting a single line in the output ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Swapan

I should have known better to searched in SAP provided documentation instead here first. I needed to end the line with &> chars to continue into the next line.

  • How to Improve large data loads ?

    Hello Gurus,
Large data loads at my client long hours. I have tried using the recommedations from various blogs and SAP sites, for control parameters for DTP's and Infopackages. I need some viewpoints on what are the parameters that can be checked in the Oracle and Unix systems. I would also need some insight on:-
    1) How to clear log files
    2) How to clear any cached up memory in SAP BW.
    3) Control parameters in Oracle and Unix for any improvements.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
I think those work should be performed by the BASIS guys.
2)U can delete the cache memory by using the Tcode : RSRT and then select the cache monitor and then delete.

I alsogot "DATAERRORLIMIT' reached and I can not find the log filefor this...? Thanks!</p>

Have you looked in the data error log to see what kind of errors you are getting. The odds are high that you are trying to load data into calculated memebers (or upper level memebers) resulting in errors. It is most likely the former. <BR><BR>you specify the error file with the <BR><BR>on error write to '/XXX.log'; <BR><BR>statement. Have you looked for this file to find why you are getting errors? Do yourself a favor, load the smaller file and look for the error file to see what kind of an error you are getting. It is possible that you error file is larger than your load file, since multiple errors on a single load item may result in a restatement of the entire load line for each error.<BR><BR>This is a starting point for your exploration into the problem. <BR><BR>DATAERRORLIMIT is set at the config file, default at 1000, max at 65000.<BR><BR>NOMSGLOGGINGONDATAERRORLIMIT if set to true, just stops logging and continues the load when the data error limit is reached. I'd advise using this only in atest environement since it doesn't solve the initial problem of data errors.<BR><BR>Probably what you'll have to do is ignore some of the columns in the data load that load into calculated fields. If you have some upper level memebers, you could put them in skip loading condition. <BR><BR>let us know what works for you.

  • Jeode 255 char. limit

I have the Jeode EVM on my PDA. I have to execute a code for which I have to list 9 jar files. The entire .ink file is around 400 characters. Could someone please tell me if there is a way to increase the 255 character limit or if I could change the class path to point to there jar files. I tried looking for this in regedit but did not know what command to tweek.
Could someone please help me. I am stuch up here and need help desperately.
    Thanks

It is possible to get parameters from file (and setting up classpath by this), when calling evm (in .lnk). Now I can't check what the parameter is (-f ?). It should allow omit the 256 characters limit in .lnk. Try to run evm with parameter which show all options (maybe advanced options). If you couldn't find this, I will check it later and give you detailed information.

  • Unexpected query results during large data loads from BCS into BI Cube

    Gurus
We have had an issue occur twice in the last few months but its causing our business partners a hard point.  When they send a large load of data from BCS to the real time BI Cube the queries are showing unexpected results.  We have the queries enabled to report on yellow requests and that works fine it seems the issue occurs as the system is processing the closing of the request and opening the next request.  Has anyone encountered this issue if so how did you fix it?
    Alex

    Hi Alex,
There is not enough information to judge. BI queries in BCS may use different structure of real-time, basic, virtual cubes and multiproviders:
    http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_02/helpdata/en/0d/eac080c1ce4476974c6bb75eddc8d2/frameset.htm
In your case, most likely, you have a bad design of the reporting structures.

  • Button Destination URI 255 char limit?

While entering the "Destination URI" property on a button,
Jdeveloper is stopping me at character 255.
Has anyone else run into this and found a solution?
    TIA
Searched history but did not find anything.
    JDev 10.1.3.3.0.3
    OAExt 10.1.3

Calling a Reports Server or Bi Publisher requires passing all the parameters, along with
what printer to print to and all the other stuff. This easily can exceed 255 characters.
As long as the report I have has only one or two parameters, the approach of using
Destination URI off a button worked great.
( And I'd rather not add redundant VO attributes with cryptic short code names
to fake my way around this! )
In any case, IE supports 2048 character long URLs ( being one of the SMALLEST..
Firefox and others go much bigger ) and the HTTP spec says nothing about any length limit.
Interestingly, prior postings on the forum indicate that elsewhere people are setting
URLs that exceed 255 characters ( in their examples/dumps ) and those work just fine,
    on other item types?
I was hoping to avoid more pp methods to do this since the Destination URL works perfectly
for the task... until I hit this (highly questionable ) data entry limit.
    Thx.

  • Oracle init param settings for large data load

    Hi All,
I have an oracle installed on 8cpu machine with 32GB of RAM.
    Oracle version is oracle 10g 10.2 .
Purpose of this installation is to load large volume of data and create create indexes on it.
Can any one suggest we with the oracle init parameter to be set for this suitation.
    Thanks

I do work on DW db .. I would suggest to go for direct load without indexes and then create index in parallel that will give you good performance
for to make parallel need to set below parameters
    parallel_max_servers
    parallel_min_servers

  • Issue in Data Loading in BW

    Dear BW GURUS,
We are facing data loading in BW. When we start process chain. it is showing Job id.  But the data loading is not starting.  We could not trace the log files for the same.
Please throw some light on this.  Any pointers would be appreciable.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Mohankumar.G

    Hi Mohan,
By buffering the number ranges, the system reduces the number of database reads to the NRIV table, thus speeding up large data loads.
The SAP BW system uses number ranges when loading master data or transactional data into BW. The system uses a unique master data number ID for each loaded record. Each new record reads the number range table NRIV to determine the next number in sequence. This ensures that there are no duplicate numbers. Not using unique number range values could compromise the datau2019s integrity.
Number ranges can cause significant overhead when loading large volumes of data as the system repeatedly accesses the number range table NRIV to establish a unique number range. If a large volume of data is waiting for these values, then the data loading process becomes slow.
One way to alleviate this bottleneck is for the system to take a packet of number range values from the table and place them into memory. This way, the system can read many of the new records from memory rather than repeatedly accessing and reading table NRIV. This speeds the data load.

  • Large data transfers in early morning hours putting me over my data limit

I am getting large data transfers labeled Intranet Media Net from two different Iphones in my home.   These transfers occur typically in the early morning hours when we are sleeping and when we should be connected to Wifi.  ATT suggested that I turn off the option to send updates to Apple, which I did.  However, the charges are still occuring.  Last night a 35MB transfer has nearly put my daughter's phone over her 200 MB limit.  ATT suggested that I turn off cellular data to eliminate these from occuring, but that seems silly.  Plus, who is to say that they won't occur when I turn cellular on, in order to use data when I am outside of a Wifi area?  Any help would be much appreciated.  I don't know if this is an Apple issue or an ATT issue.

How do you get logs out of a TC anyway?
From the latest one you cannot.. no logs at all so that is the direction Apple is moving.. the black box.. well white box that you feed this into and get that out of.. but all the works inside are complete mystery.. that is the end point.. not quite there yet.
Logs from v5 utility or SNMP.. both still working on any of the earlier TC.
You can install v5 on Mountain Lion.
How to load 5.6 into ML.
    1. Download 5.6 for Lion.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
Leave the package open on the desktop so you can see the file. AirportUtility56.pkg
    2. Download and install unpkg.
    http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Run unpkg on the desktop.. If your Mac refuses to run the software, because it wasn’t downloaded from the Apple store, go to security in preferences and allow other software to work.. this is limitation of trade methinks. You can set back later if you like.
Now drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. in finder, open the new directory, drill down.. applications, utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall version 6 (now 6.3 if you updated) so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. although I have had no problems when doing so.
Give 7.6.3 firmware the heave ho.. and use 7.6.1 and if the TC is more than 18months old.. round about .. even a Gen4 you can go back to 7.5.2.. which seems more solid again.
As stated above.. by the time you get early Gen3.. they can have board faults. and earlier ones are especially not reliable with power supply faults.

  • 4.2.3/.4 Data load wizard - slow when loading large files

    Hi,
I am using the data load wizard to load csv files into an existing table. It works fine with small files up to a few thousand rows. When loading 20k rows or more the loading process becomes very slow. The table has a single numeric column for primary key.
The primary key is declared at "shared components" -> logic -> "data load tables" and is recognized as "pk(number)" with "case sensitve" set to "No".
While loading data, these configuration leads to the execution of the following query for each row:
    select 1 from "KLAUS"."PD_IF_CSV_ROW" where upper("PK") = upper(:uk_1)
which can be found in the v$sql view while loading.
It makes the loading process slow, because of the upper function no index can be used.
It seems that the setting of "case sensitive" is not evaluated.
Dropping the numeric index for the primary key and using a function based index does not help.
Explain plan shows an implicit "to_char" conversion:
    UPPER(TO_CHAR(PK)=UPPER(:UK_1)
This is missing in the query but maybe it is necessary for the function based index to work.
Please provide a solution or workaround for the data load wizard to work with large files in an acceptable amount of time.
    Best regards
    Klaus

Nevertheless, a bulk loading process is what I really like to have as part of the wizard.
If all of the CSV files are identical:
    use the Excel2Collection plugin ( - Process Type Plugin - EXCEL2COLLECTIONS )
create a VIEW on the collection (makes it easier elsewhere)
create a procedure (in a Package) to bulk process it.
The most important thing is to have, somewhere in the Package (ie your code that is not part of APEX), information that clearly states which columns in the Collection map to which columns in the table, view, and the variables (APEX_APPLICATION.g_fxx()) used for Tabular Forms.

  • PC gets loaded when trying to display large data in graph

PC gets loaded when i try to display large data in the graph, the shift register holding the data eats up all my virtual memory ,so my pc gets hangs, any ways to refresh the virtual memory using labview. The chart also cannot be replaced.

In graph portion, the array holds(using shift register)  all the data in the graph. This holding the data loads the PC.Is there any way to refresh the virtual memory using labview.
Is there really a good reason to send 200MB worth of I32 data to a graph? NO! Your graph most likely does not have more than about 1000 pixels across!
Most likely, you have multiple copies if the data in memory. Do you convert the entire 200MB data to ASCII or each data point as needed? Have you done some profiling? What is the memory usage in "VI properties..Memor Usage"? Do you use local variables?
Your best bet would be to analyse you code to optimize memory usage, avoid data copies, etc. Please attach you code so we can give some advice.

  • BW Data Load error due to special char's

    Hi Experts,
Our BW System is a Uni Code, Master data load din BW failed due to special chars, I corrected the field manually in PSA and loaded the
    data.
But I would like to know the reason for failure.
Issue for failure is term SOCIÉTÉGÉN…..My understanding its French and BW should accept it…why is it failing?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi User,
The alphabet ' É ' which you have mentioned is a special Character.
To avoid this failure in future , Please add  " É" this alphabet in RSKC t-code which would help to avoid
    special characters.
Please revert in case you need any further details.

  • Need to load large data set from Oracle table onto desktop using ODBC

I don't have TOAD nor any other tool for querying the database.  I'm wondering how I can load a large data set from an Oracle table onto my desktop using Excel or Access or some other tool using ODBC or not using ODBC if that's possible.  I need results to be in a .csv file or something similar. Speed is what is important here.  I'm looking to load more than 1 million but less than 10 million records at once.   Thanks.

    Use Oracle's free Sql Developer
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/downloads/index.html
You can just issue a query like this
    SELECT /*csv*/ * FROM SCOTT.EMP
Then just save the results to a file
See this article by Jeff Smith for other options
